-Lurid Crime Tales-
Why aren't the FISA-abusing FBI leadership in jail?
[American Thinker] Since President Trump took office, most journalists along with other Democrats have chastised Trump for questioning the integrity of anyone at the Justice Department.

Now we learn from the Justice Department inspector general that he found errors in 100% of FBI's applications to surveil that he examined. Think of that: 100%!

Look at this news:
Problems with FBI surveillance extended far beyond probe of Trump campaign, Justice Dept. inspector general says

The Justice Department inspector general revealed Tuesday that he found errors in every FBI application to a secret surveillance court his office examined as part of an ongoing review ‐ suggesting the problems exposed in the bureau's probe of President Trump's 2016 campaign extend far beyond that case alone.

The memorandum issued by Inspector General Michael Horowitz stems from an audit launched last year after his office found 17 serious problems with the FBI's surveillance applications targeting former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

The interim results of that audit suggest that the problems that plagued the Page investigation may exist in other counterterrorism and counterintelligence cases. The memorandum may buttress some of the criticism that Trump and his supporters have leveled at the FBI, but the findings also suggest that, rather than political motives, the issues at the agency may be broader institutional weaknesses.

A key part of the inspector general review has been analyzing the Woods files ‐ documents created to ensure the accuracy of the FBI's applications to the court created by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

The inspector general selected a sample of 29 FISA applications to review ‐ and found problems with all of them. In 25 applications, Horowitz's team found "apparent errors or inadequately supported facts," while in four of the cases, they were unable to find any Woods file at all. In three of those missing supporting documentation, it's unclear if a Woods file was ever created.

We are also told constantly by most journalists and other Democrats that President Trump should not question the integrity of known liars like Clapper and Brennan at Intelligence agencies even though journalists know that throughout the Obama/Biden years and before that, the NSA routinely illegally violated the law as it spied illegally on thousands of Americans.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
87-year-old Supreme Court justice risks it all for gainz
[Free Beacon] Gyms are closed and average Americans are stuck at home due to the China-caused coronavirus pandemic. The only exercise they get is from strenuously applauding President Donald J. Trump's bold leadership during daily briefings at the White House.

Meanwhile, elite liberal icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg is flouting public-safety guidelines and flaunting her privilege by continuing to work out twice a week at the Supreme Court's private gym.

The 87-year-old justice is in the highest-risk demographic for serious illness and death from coronavirus, but that hasn't stopped her from getting swoll on the reg with personal trainer Bryant Johnson, who has canceled all appointments with other clients to satisfy Ginsburg's fitness demands.

"Everybody's been shut down. The only reason why I didn't shut the justice down is because, hey, she ain't having it," Johnson told Law360. "She has that grandfather status to me and if she wants to train, that's the least that I can do."

Johnson was named a Free Beacon Man of the Year in 2018 for his efforts to keep RBG in peak physical condition, which likely played a role in her decision not to retire during Barack Obama's presidency. Or maybe she wasn't comfortable with a black man choosing her replacement. After all, Ginsburg's record on racial equality is abysmal when it comes to her own hiring practices, and the old white lady denounced former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick's national anthem protests as "dumb and disrespectful."

Whatever the case may be, liberal elites continue to spurn the advice of scientific experts‐risking their own lives and the lives of others without fear of repercussions. Meanwhile, the rest of us will continue to obey Trump's orders for the good of the country.

If Ginsburg wants to risk it all for gainz, that's her prerogative.

Georgia's Idiot Governor Says He Didn't Know People Could Spread Covid-19 Without Symptoms
[GIZMODO] Georgia’s Governor Brian Kemp gave a press conference on Wednesday, announcing a new shelter-in-place order that’s been long overdue. But Kemp also admitted something that should terrify every person living in and around Georgia: Kemp claims he didn’t know until this week that the new coronavirus could be spread by people who aren’t showing symptoms of covid-19.

"What we’ve been telling people from directives from the CDC for weeks now‐ that if you start feeling bad, stay home‐those individuals could have been infecting people before they ever felt bad, but we didn’t know that until the last 24 hours," said Kemp.

Governor Kemp, a Republican who took office in 2019 under questionable voting practices, said at the press conference that his top public health advisor, Kathleen Toomey, described evidence of asymptomatic transmission as a "game changer."

It’s not clear if Kemp is lying about only learning this recently, or if he’s really that uninformed. But the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been warning about asymptomatic transmission for over a month.

SA turns to China and Cuba to help curb spread of coronavirus
[News24] South Africa is looking beyond its borders to seek assistance to curb the coronavirus from spreading further.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said the country had approached China and Cuba for help.

Mkhize added the focus was mainly on China because of its experience in containing the virus and Cuba for its medical expertise.

He said China was going to be used as an example.

"The advantage of China is that they have gone through Covid-19 and we will want to use their experience. The history of China is encouraging."

Bill Gates urges national shutdown to 'save lives'
[Washington Examiner] Founder of Microsoft Bill Gates called for a nationally mandated pause on "business as usual" to "save lives" during the coronavirus pandemic.

"Until the case numbers start to go down across America ‐ which could take 10 weeks or more ‐ no one can continue business as usual or relax the shutdown," Gates wrote in a Tuesday column in the Washington Post. "Any confusion about this point will only extend the economic pain, raise the odds that the virus will return, and cause more deaths."

Gates gave two other recommendations, which included more testing and a more "data-based approach to developing treatments and a vaccine."

"There’s no question the United States missed the opportunity to get ahead of the novel coronavirus. But the window for making important decisions hasn’t closed," he said. "The choices we and our leaders make now will have an enormous impact on how soon case numbers start to go down, how long the economy remains shut down and how many Americans will have to bury a loved one because of covid-19."

President Trump has resisted so far a nationwide shutdown but has extended federal guidelines on social distancing through the end of April.

The coronavirus task force said it would be introducing new self-swab coronavirus tests. "There was a breakthrough today for those of you waiting for 'self-swabbing' options. Those are going to be available some time later this week to be able for individuals to do their own test," Deborah Birx said during a White House press briefing.

Anthony Fauci has warned that it might take a year to 18 months before there is a vaccine for the coronavirus.

Beyond Trump's Wall: the Americans riding out coronavirus in Latin America
LAGO DE ATITLAN, Guatemala (Reuters) - Some Americans, from young backpackers to retirees, are hunkering down for the coronavirus pandemic far from home in Latin America, saying they feel safer and see no point in scrambling to return.

While thousands of Americans sought help from the government or private security firms to evacuate, others chose to stay, worried about what they see as a skyrocketing U.S. caseload made worse by laxer containment measures.

Some seem delighted with their choice, while others are saddened at the prospect of prolonged estrangement from loved ones or are gripped by indecision over where they should go.

With fewer international flights available each day, fast-changing circumstances are helping to write the narrative.

Afghanistan
Start The Negotiations, End The Afghan War Now
Get out of there already. It's a no-win situation that is ruinously expensive. The only winning move is not to play.
[War.onTheRocks] The two of us witnessed the signing of the agreement between the United States and the Taliban in Doha on Feb. 29. Since then, we have observed delay upon delay in implementation as the novel coronavirus pandemic outpaces armed conflict as a source of global death and destruction.

Today, representatives of the Taliban were supposed to arrive at Bagram air base to monitor the release of up to 5,000 Taliban detainees as a confidence-building measure brokered by Qatar and the United States. Members of the Taliban had committed themselves to "start intra-Afghan negotiations with Afghan sides" by March 10 in the belief that their detainees would be released. In return, the Taliban had promised to release up to 1,000 detainees of those it holds. The Afghan government, which was not involved in the agreement, was reluctant to release captured fighters who might return to violence, leading to the Taliban's refusal to start talks. The government did not announce its delegation for the negotiations until March 27. The spread of the pandemic also hindered talks as travel and meetings risked spreading the coronavirus.

If they shelter another bin Laden who does what he did, nuke them.

Posted by: charger || 04/02/2020 15:38 Comments || Top||

#8  The best and only way to 'negotiate', begins with an unconditional, sudden pullout. Airlift your resources and men overnight, destroy or dismantle the rest. End all negotiations, declare that 'The US of A recognizes the legitimate elected Govt of Ashraf Ghani, and wishes him well', and that's it.

Fire Zalmay Khalilzad and pretend there is no such thing as an Afghanistan for the next four years. Ignore the anti-Trump books he will write and let him fade. Let the Afghan government cry and stomp, do not respond. Only deny all aid to Pakistain, and cultivate autonomous local assets to work with Baloch, Muhajir and Pashtun groups instead. A rotation of the usual Pak based assets is also advisable, since by now their activities will have become colored by local politics and they'd be hard pressed to change tack or see the big picture. In short, change the policy from supporting Pak in the WOT, to indirectly supporting various secessionists against Pak. They'll have to try and use the taliban against their domestic problems, and the Afghan bureaucracy may get a fighting chance and time to consolidate power. You may even earn profits by letting your companies sell small arms to the Afghan government; and they can sell their lands piecemeal to China for the funds, but they must pay, no loans. Do not worry. China will never be able to actually put a base in this graveyard of empires.

Watch as the experiment develops. Trump will have won the elections by then with a clean sweep. The next term you can spend in consolidating your judiciary and HoR if possible. I think it will usher in a complete breakdown of the entire ummah into an era of mutual suspicion, murders and brown-on-brown actions uncontrollable by even their Leftist benefactors, or the usual holy men. The sunni world will implode and create new, novel forms of terror and mayhem against each other. This should also help expose the and drive wedges between your entrenched islamists and Leftists.

The state of Pak will feature prominent in the ensuing chaos among Asian muslims, as taliban blunder about in Pak, fighting with everyone from IS-K to surprisingly well armed Baloch and Pashtun tribes. Because Pakistan is the petri dish where the taliban are born. Taliban wouldn't know whether to chart a route or wipe their arse with a map, if it weren't for the ISI who train them. In time, other Asian nations shall have to enter the fray to control the chaos. China will sink billions in their projects along the OBOR thingy, and suffer casualties they never expected.

In time, Trump could negotiate a peace between Taliban and Pakistain, or Taliban and China ! Who knows ? The prospects only get better from there.

Or, you could just keep attending these white table-cloth meetings in Qatari hotels hoping for something unique while your men and assets are killed daily. I think it's an ego thing, with the pentagon and Trump's advisors. You're just allowing the Afghan and Pakistan sunnis to con you for the sake of hubris. This intense need to prove to yourself, that America can actually bring about peace in utterly alien societies... 'we just have to apply the right amount of KA-BOOM in the right spots, boys'. These idiots will gladly dedicate more lives and money to another decade of the same.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
The Israeli please-like-us syndrome - another disease we must conquer
[Arutz 7] - ...Earlier in the program, Dayan explored the new ’Operations Center’ for the ’War against the Corona Pandemic’. For the first time, medical professionals were working together with experts from the armed forces, the security industries and the Mossad, one of Israel’s intelligence agencies. Viewers were shown how this new collaboration is enabling Israel to acquire medical supplies that the Health Ministry and hospitals would have been unable to appropriate on their own. Not only that -- laboratories that engineer weaponry have now been put to the task of engineering re-usable masks and respirators. Israeli ingenuity at its best.

In an interview with H’, Director of the Mossad’s Technology Department, a highly impressed Dayan suggested that the collaboration may open up opportunities previously unimaginable. She wondered how:

"... with respect to Iran, the new enemy may be useful, perhaps, in the war against old enemies. A new world of possibilities may open up for the Mossad. ... I am just thinking ‐ this comes from me and not from you -- what would an Iranian nuclear scientist be prepared to do today in order for someone to resuscitate his mother?

In this one question, Dayan shows us that there is an infection beyond which many Israelis seem unable, or unwilling, to move. That is the ’See-what-we-can-do-for-you? So-like-us’ syndrome.

Much of Israeli hasbara concerns itself with describing new medical and technological inventions each of which improves the lives of so many people around the world. And if we do such good for humanity and publicize it, the thinking apparently goes, maybe they will stop hating us and maybe the UN will stop passing resolutions attacking Israel’s right to exist.

I doubt that any Iranian nuclear scientist or political leader would change his or her mind about Israel because an Israeli invention was needed to resuscitate his or her mother. After all, Hamas arch-enemy Ismail Haniyeh’s daughter, granddaughter and mother-in-law were all treated in Israeli hospitals. Hamas senior official Moussa Abu Marzouk’s sister was treated for advanced stage cancer in an Israeli hospital. PLO leader Jibril Rajoub received medical treatment in Israel. None of this changed their attitudes and they continue to promote terrorism against Israel and challenge its legitimacy as a state.

Efforts to overcome the Coronavirus depended upon first isolating the virus and identifying it by means of genome sequencing and electron microscopy. Then researchers discovered how the virus attacks the human body and they are now looking for drugs that impede Corona’s ability to use our own proteins against ourselves, the essence of how we get sick and die.

Everyone knows that Corona causes sickness. On the other hand, those who are under the spell of the please-like-us syndrome do not realize that they are ill; in fact, they think their attitude is the cure for what ails Israel.

#2  You don't perform acts of virtue to impress the subjects. You perform them because they're the right thing to do.

This "we should only ever do something virtuous if it benefits Israel" idea is horrific.

#7  If you only do deeds because it's to your advantage to do so, you are not virtuous. You are selfish.

#9  Conversely, one could say there's an inclination in some to advocate not doing the right thing, lest it somehow benefit Israel. Like being thankful.

What's that about ?

I'd like to add that bigoted bastard that I am, I am critical of educated, developed societies wanting to share the cure with savage islamist communities harboring terrorism and thuggery.

#10  This problem affects Western Civilization (such as it is) as a whole, not just Israel.

And self-interest is always mixed into altruism, even among the animals.

You misread the piece, Mr. McCoy. Having done the thing because it was the right thing to do, they are trumpeting it to persuade those who hate Israel to notice and for selfish reasons of their own stop hating.

More than 1,000 in US die in a single day from coronavirus, doubling the worst daily death toll of the flu
h/t Instapundit

[USA Today] - The U.S. topped 1,000 coronavirus deaths in a single day for the first time Wednesday, a daily death toll more than double that of two of America's most deadly illnesses ‐ lung cancer and the flu.

Death counts from the virus are difficult to keep up to date, but the Johns Hopkins coronavirus database ‐ whose sources include the World Health Organization, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the European CDC and the National Health Commission of China ‐ shows that the U.S. hit 1,040 cases Wednesday at 10:25 p.m. ET. Since the virus' first appearance in the U.S. in late January, 5,116 people have died and more than 215,000 have been infected.
Instapundit Comment: THIS IS WHY THE FLU COMPARISONS A MONTH AGO WERE BULLSHIT ‐ THEY DIDN’T TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE GROWTH RATE

#1  It was always moronic to say this was just a flu.

#2  Its also moronic to count people who die of other underlying causes but just happen to test positive for the virus in the wrap up.

#3  Good they stopped testing deaders.
