Man crashes car into crowd honoring victims of fire, leaving 1 dead, 17 hurt: police
[FoxNews] A suspect in Eastern Pennsylvania has been arrested after he drove through a crowd of people at an event honoring victims of a recent fire and later assaulted a woman, police said.

A heavy police presence was reported at the Intoxicology Department bar in Berwick, Pennsylvania after multiple pedestrians were reportedly struck, WOLF-TV reported.

The incident left one person dead and 17 people injured, Pennsylvania State Police said.

"On Saturday, August 13, 2022, at approximately 6:15 p.m. Pennsylvania State Police Bloomsburg received a call to assist Berwick Police Department with a vehicle that drove through a crowd at a community event on West 2nd Street, Berwick Borough, Columbia County," a statement said.

State Police said the same suspect believed to be responsible for the crash was found later in Luzerne County, where police received a call of a male suspect beating a woman.

"Upon Troopers arrival, they discovered a female deceased and a male who was detained by a Municipal Police Department," the statement added. The suspect remains in custody at PSP Shickshinny, awaiting criminal charges.

The Borough of Berwick Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Investigations into both incidents remain active.

Family of murdered Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen files $35M lawsuit against U.S. Army
[FoxNews] Vanessa Guillen's family seeking damages for sexual harassment, abuse, assault, rape, sodomy and wrongful death

Guillen,
...previously mentioned in passing in the Rantburg archives spelt Vanessa Guillén...
a 20-year-old Army specialist, was declared missing from the base in Killeen, Texas, on April 22, 2020. Weeks and months would go by until her body was found dismembered, burned and buried beneath cement in several shallow graves about 20 miles from Fort Hood in Benton, Texas, along the Leon River on June 30, 2020.

The main suspect in her slaying, fellow Army specialist Aaron Robinson, subsequently died by suicide while authorities were closing in on him to make an arrest.

Several investigations revealed that Guillen suffered sexual harassment and assault during her service, and, according to an affidavit from her sister, contemplated suicide but begged their mother not to take any action against Fort Hood out of fear of retaliation. That was until Robinson allegedly bludgeoned Guillen to death in an armory room, and Robinson’s civilian girlfriend, Cecily Aguilar – the only person criminally charged following Guillen’s gruesome murder – allegedly later helped him chop up and hide the body.

The new lawsuit filed on Friday under the Federal Torts Claims Acts on behalf of Guillen’s family is seeking $35 million in damages from the U.S. government on the basis of sexual harassment, abuse, assault, rape, sodomy and wrongful death.

The litigation comes following a decision Thursday by a three-judge panel from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco stating that an Army colonel could proceed with a lawsuit against a former Air Force General over a sexual assault allegation. The court found that a 1950’s Supreme Court decision known as the Feres Doctrine, which bars service members injured during active duty from seeking damages from the federal government, could not be broadly applied by the Department of Defense to include sexual assault and harassment claims.

Guillen's death and claims by her family that she was harassed and assaulted at the Texas base sparked a social media movement of former and active service members who came forward about their own experiences in the military with the hashtag #IAmVaessaGuillen. State and federal lawmakers have since passed legislation in honor of Guillen that removed some authority from commanders and gave survivors more options to report.

The lawyer representing the Guillen family, Natalie Khawam, said that if the Army denies their claim, she plans on filling a federal lawsuit in California because Guillen told her mother that she experienced sexual harassment in 2019 while undergoing field training at Fort Irwin in San Bernardino County, the Texas Tribune reported. Friday’s lawsuit outlines two instances in which Guillen was harassed as a soldier at Fort Hood – once when a "higher up" solicited her for a "threesome," and a second when another higher up shined a light on her and watched while she was washing up at night after a field training exercise.

Guillen’s shocking death brought attention to a string of other deaths, suicides, and crime at Fort Hood.

In December 2020, Army leaders presented the findings of an independent review committee, admitting that the command climate at Fort Hood "was permissive of sexual harassment and sexual assault." Top commanders were fired or suspended because of the report amid a huge leadership shake-up at the base.

Pedophile Ed Leclair skips appeals process, drinks cloudy liquid as verdict is read, now TU
[Washington Examiner] A Texas man found guilty of child sexual assault has died after drinking a cloudy liquid in court as his verdict was being read.

Edward Leclair, 57, drank the liquid Thursday while his verdict was read in the 16th District Court in Denton, Texas. Leclair picked up the bottle and started drinking from it as soon as he was found guilty of the first of five counts of child sexual assault against one victim in 2016.

Afterward, Leclair was taken to his holding cell in Denton County Jail, where bailiffs later found him gray in the face and unconscious. Leclair would briefly vomit while in his cell before being taken to Medical City Denton, where he was pronounced dead.

"It wasn't like he was just taking sips of water," First Assistant Attorney Jamie Beck from the Denton County District Attorney’s Office said, according to WFAA. "He was literally throwing it back, so to speak."

Leclair was arrested in 2018 on a $30,000 bond, which he paid soon after. Jury selection happened Monday at the Denton County Courts Building.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to find Leclair’s cause of death. Texas Rangers have taken the bottle into evidence for further investigation.

"Hmmpf... I should think that was obvious, Lestrade."

"Yes, but surely the DI must know what liquid it was!"

"To what end? Man was poisoned. Probably at his own request."

"No no no! He has avoided the good justice of the State! To our way of thinking, he has as good as absconded!"

"Nonsense, man. Justice is done. Go home."

FBI forensic report concludes Alec Baldwin pulled trigger on 'Rust' set: report
[FoxNews] Alec Baldwin was holding a gun that discharged on a New Mexico set, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

A new discovery has been made in the fatal "Rust" shooting involving Alec Baldwin.

According to ABC News, which obtained a copy of the FBI's forensic report, the gun used on the New Mexico movie set could not have been fired without the trigger being pulled.
Huh. An FBI report leaked to ABC? Whodafigured?
The FBI conducted an accidental discharge test and determined the gun used in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins "could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger," the report stated, according to the outlet.

The test showed that when the 45 Colt caliber F.lli Pietta single-action revolver's hammer was in the quarter and half-cock positions, the gun would not fire without the trigger being pulled.

When the hammer was in the fully cocked position, the gun "could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger while the working internal components were intact and functional," according to the outlet.

In December, Baldwin, who was in possession of the firearm on set, told ABC News that he did not fire the weapon. "The trigger wasn't pulled," Baldwin said. "I didn't pull the trigger."
It was a stunt Finger. Not mine
Nearly 10 months since the fatal "Rust" shooting, which resulted in Hutchins' death, the Santa Fe Sheriff's Office has received the full forensic report from the FBI.

According to a press release, the Santa Fe Sheriffs' detectives received the FBI's completed forensic reports on Aug. 2. They were then forwarded to the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) "for review."

"The OMI had advised the Sheriff's Office that they required these forensic reports to finalize their investigation," the release reads. The sheriff's office received the "official OMI reports" on Wednesday.

Per the release, detectives with the homicide and computer crimes unit at the Suffolk County Police Department in New York are still actively assisting the Santa Fe Sheriffs' office in obtaining and processing Alec Baldwin’s phone records.

Police in Santa Fe will NOT rule out criminal charges after damning FBI report concludes that Alec Baldwin DID pull the trigger on set of Rust and killed cinematographer - despite claiming he did NOT

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • A new FBI report has concluded that the gun would only have shot a bullet if the trigger had been pulled

  • Testing revealed that Baldwin's claims that he had been playing with the hammer were not enough to get the gun to fire

  • Baldwin has consistently denied that he pulled the trigger on the gun, which was supposed to be loaded dummy bullets

  • The actor, 64, says he's cooperating with police and said he is hoping there will not be criminal charges

  • Hayla Hutchins' death is still under investigation by the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office

  • She died after being shot in the armpit by a live round that somehow made its way into Alec Baldwin's gun on October 21, 2021

Drone loaded with drugs, phones flown into Fort Worth prison
[FOX35ORLANDO] A man accused of flying a drone filled with drugs, phones, and mp3 players into a Fort Worth prison was arrested on Thursday.

Bryant LeRay Henderson, 42, was arrested at his home in Smithville and charged with one count of attempting to provide contraband in prison, one count of serving as an airman without an airman’s certificate, and one count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, according to U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Chad E. Meacham.

According to court documents, Henderson flew a drone into a fenced-in section of FMC Fort Worth just before midnight on Wednesday, May 4.

Prison staff recovered the drone, which had a package attached to it.

Inside the package, staff found 46 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 87 grams of pressed THC, two prepaid smartphones, and nine mp3 players, according to the Department of Justice.

"Contraband drone deliveries are quickly becoming the bane of prison officials’ existence. Illicit goods pose a threat to guards and inmates alike — and when it comes to cell phones, the threat often extends outside prison walls. We are determined to stop this trend in its tracks," said Meacham.

Surveillance video from O.D. Wyatt High school on the night of the incident showed a man in a red vehicle remove a drone and package from the truck, fly the drone towards the prison and drive off.

Texas CPS employee fired after allegedly telling 14-year-old girl to become a prostitute
[FoxNews] A Texas Child Protective Services employee lost her job after allegedly telling a 14-year-old girl to become a prostitute.

Keisha Bazley, a Texas mother of nine who turned to CPS to help with her 14-year-old daughter, told FOX 26 Houston that her child was running away and causing trouble at school, prompting her to call in family services.

"My daughter told me that the worker had been telling her she should do these things, so she said she decided to video her," Bazley said.

CPS is housing the girl at a hotel, just like dozens of other foster kids in Harris County.

The video allegedly shows an exchange between the teen and a CPS worker who reportedly tells the girl to be a prostitute.

"And giving her an incentive to do so, and almost a threat of not having her needs being met, if she didn't do what this woman very explicitly told her to do," family law attorney Mike Schneider told FOX 26 after watching the video.

"If me, the parent, was to do something like this to my child, I would be bashed," Bazley said. "I would be called a horrible parent. I would lose my kids."

Bazley filed an official complaint with CPS. The agency's commissioner, Jamie Masters, reportedly went to Houston from the Lone Star State's capital city to apologize to Bazley and her daughter.

"This should not happen to girls in their care," she said. "It should not happen. It's unacceptable."

"I've never seen that happen before where the commissioner of CPS comes in from Austin, just to apologize about something horrible that's been done to a child involved with CPS," Schneider said. "It's bad enough if it's just one bad rogue worker. It concerns me that it may be bigger than that, and they need to make sure it's not just one person, and they've got to find a way to protect these kids."

In a statement to FOX 26, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services spokeswoman Melissa Lanford, said, "DFPS is aware of the video and has taken action. The person in the video – who was employed as CPS support staff - was dismissed from her position August 10. The safety and appropriateness with which children in care must be treated is our paramount concern. Nothing less will be tolerated."

Long Island man attacks 3 with machete while trying to buy guns, police say
[FoxNews] A Long Island man was arrested and charged after allegedly attacking three people at a Dick’s Sporting Goods with a machete while trying to buy rifles.

"So many things could have gone wrong here," Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison said following the Friday attack, Newsday reported. "If he was able to buy a rifle, who knows what he was planning to do with it. There was a man running around with a machete attacking people unprovoked. This could've been a lot worse."

Police say West Babylon resident Treyvius Tunstall, 22, visited a Dick's Sporting Goods store in Bay Shore on Friday afternoon and bought a machete, a knife and a backpack. He inquired about buying guns at the store but was told he needed to go the chain’s Patchogue location to buy rifles.

Tunstall reached the Patchogue store at about 3:15 p.m. Friday, according to police. A store employee inquired about a background check for the man to purchase the firearms, which led to Tunstall walking away and allegedly attacking a store employee and two customers with a machete, according to police.

#1  Dude buys a machete and tries to buy a gun at one Dicks, they refer him to another Dicks, something goes wrong with the transaction, he starts chopping people, and the dude escapes. There seems to be at least two insane people involved in this episode. A couple others seem more likely to just be incompetent possibly moronic. The second insane person appears to be the Suffolk County Police Chief who proposes red flag laws as the solution to this machete incident. The person who wrote the article is incompetent in several respects in that it was not clear whether the perp brought his earlier purchased machete into the second store of whether he rearmed himself upon arrival. Also incompetent is whoever is responsible for security policy at Dicks where they sell weapons that customers can use to rob the store and escape unopposed.

The Art of Celebrating the Small Stuff
[Garden & Gun] Tips from the Georgia tastemaker James Farmer, and a peek inside his new book - By HASKELL HARRIS

This week, the Georgia interior designer and tastemaker James T. Farmer debuted the latest book in his prolific portfolio. Celebrating Home: A Time for Every Season extols seasonal entertaining through the lens of two locales special to Farmer: Cashiers, North Carolina, and his hometown of Perry, Georgia. "The idea came just before the pandemic truly started," he recalls. "I thought: How fun would it be to have a dinner party to celebrate the foxgloves blooming? And by the time they were in bloom, dinner parties and celebrations took on a new meaning—a more intentional celebration of home."

New bombshell allegations 'eroding Prince Harry and Meghan's credibility'
[GEO.TV] Princess Meghan Markle
...unlikable American former starlet married to the formerly likable Prince Harry. Chock full of lefty political opinions, Markle's most important characteristic is that she is Black, even though she doesn't look it. Her mother, y'see, is half black and her father is white, which would make her a quarter Black. Her half brother described her (to her husband, before their marriage) as a jaded, shallow, conceited woman that will make a joke of you and the royal family heritage. Once married, she was too good for the Royals and she and Harry decamped to Beverly Hills, kind of like the Clampetts did, thus making a joke of Harry and the royal family heritage...
and Prince Harry
are being rocked by bombshell allegations that are "eroding" their credibility, a royal commentator has claimed.

Writing for Sky News Australia, commentator Daisy Cousens has criticised Harry's performance at the UN, pointed out "lamenting a 'global assault' on democracy and freedom," he then went on to tell the audience "transformative measures" were needed to avert climate change and that such action was "not up for debate".

"A sentiment that, needless to say, embodies neither democracy nor freedom," She added.

Cousens went on to highlight royal author Tom Bower's "bombshell" new book entitled "Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors".

She concluded: "Every one of Bower’s claims is facilitating the steady dripping away of Harry and Meghan’s credibility. In the court of public opinion, it’s the monarchy that will ultimately be vindicated."

#3  Credibility? About what, pray tell?

If Prince Harry wants to tell me about his experiences as a Royal, graduating from Sandhurst, and/or flying a helicopter in Afghanistan -- fine, sit down, draw a pint and talk to me.

Anything else and he is just as 'credible' as any drunk you randomly bump into at a bar. So, No, not interested.

I, Carnac, a "mystic from the East" do psychically "divine" the unknown answer to this unseen question.

"Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's marriage shall go the direction of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, by 2026."

"On the day Charles ascends to the Throne, which never bends, Harry's influence ends. He, the Prince will awake, and Markle's personal sparkle for Harry upends, he will wonder too, what he ever saw in this shrew... time for a divorce from you."
The End.

onthe Royal Seal of the British Monarchy cannot escape Harry. His trailer-trash spouse has never missed a camera and will forever be shunned by the elites of the UK. As Carnac above has correctly noted, once the Queen is gone, Chuckles the Second will cut him off until he limps home in ignominy, alone.

#13  ^ Robbie Burns wrote a song about that.

A Man's a man forr A' That

Is there for honest Poverty
That hings his head, an' a' that;
The coward slave-we pass him by,
We dare be poor for a' that!
For a' that, an' a' that.
Our toils obscure an' a' that,
The rank is but the guinea's stamp,
The Man's the gowd for a' that.

What though on hamely fare we dine,
Wear hoddin grey, an' a that;
Gie fools their silks, and knaves their wine;
A Man's a Man for a' that:
For a' that, and a' that,
Their tinsel show, an' a' that;
The honest man, tho' e'er sae poor,
Is king o' men for a' that.

Ye see yon birkie, ca'd a lord,
Wha struts, an' stares, an' a' that;
Tho' hundreds worship at his word,
He's but a coof for a' that:
For a' that, an' a' that,
His ribband, star, an' a' that:
The man o' independent mind
He looks an' laughs at a' that.

A prince can mak a belted knight,
A marquis, duke, an' a' that;
But an honest man's abon his might,
Gude faith, he maunna fa' that!
For a' that, an' a' that,
Their dignities an' a' that;
The pith o' sense, an' pride o' worth,
Are higher rank than a' that.

Then let us pray that come it may,
(As come it will for a' that,)
That Sense and Worth, o'er a' the earth,
Shall bear the gree, an' a' that.
For a' that, an' a' that,
It's coming yet for a' that,
That Man to Man, the world o'er,
Shall brothers be for a' that.

FBI intentionally burying data about legal gun owners stopping mass shootings
[LawEnforcementToday] According to the Crime Prevention Research Center, a total of 14.6 % of active shooter incidents were stopped by a legal gun owner, at the right place, right at the right time.

However, during that same timeframe of 2014-2021, the FBI reported only 4.4 %, a full 10% less.

Africa Subsaharan
Sierra Leone: President Accuses Protesters of Insurrection
[All Africa] Sierra Leone's President Julius Maada Bio on Friday accused protesters who demonstrated earlier this week of attempting to overthrow the government.
Sound familiar?
On Wednesday, police dispersed large crowds in the capital, Freetown, using teargas and firing guns. The incident led to the deaths of 21 civilians and 6 coppers.
One of them was banged on the nut with a fire extinguisher. Honest. Ask Nancy.
The protesters, who burned tires and threw rocks, said they were demonstrating against high cost of living and called for the president to resign.
Inflation rate hit 28 percent as of May 2022.
"This was not a protest against the high cost of living occasioned by the ongoing global economic crisis," Maada Bio said in an address to the nation. "The chant of the insurrectionists was for a violent mostly peaceful overthrow of the democratically elected government."
"Let's go Bio!"
He also said that the government would investigate all the deaths.

POLITICAL TENSIONS RISING
Bio blamed the "premeditated" unrest on rival political party, the All Peoples Congress. The party quickly released a statement urging supporters to adhere to rule-of-law, but it did not directly address the president's allegations.

"We urge all stakeholders to de-escalate tensions and avoid inflammatory rhetoric (or) unfounded pronouncements," the opposition party said on Friday.

"As a party, we continue reaffirming and reinforcing our commitment to sustainable peace and national cohesion."

ECONOMY ON THE BRINK
Sierra Leone is a relatively stable country, but like much of the world, it is experiencing rising food and energy prices due to pandemic-related disruption in global supply chains and the knock-on effects of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

In July, the country slashed three zeros off its currency hoping to restore confidence in the economy. Inflation nevertheless rose to nearly 28% in June.

"Look at the way the price of fuel goes up, the price of rice is always going up," Solomon Forna, a 42-year-old driver in east Freetown, told Rooters news agency. "We can't live the way we did only a few years ago."

Haripur seminary teacher held for assaulting boy
[DAWN] HARIPUR: The police have arrested a local seminary teacher for allegedly molesting a student, Sera-e-Saleh cop shoppe SHO Sidiq Shah said on Friday.

He quoted a widow of Kholiyan Bala village as saying that she had brought her nephew, 15, to live with her three years ago. She said she had admitted him to a madressah in Mohallah Parao to learn Koran.

On Friday morning, she said he got back from madressah sad, and refused to go back there in the afternoon despite repeated calls from the seminary teacher. The woman said when she asked why he was not going back to the seminary, the boy disclosed that his seminary teacher, namely Qari Uzair, beat him up over a minor mistake and forced him to go to his bedroom inside the seminary.

1The woman said the teacher locked his room from inside and raped the boy. She said the man had raped him several times during the last six months and threatened him of consequences if he disclosed the incident to anyone.

The complainant said the suspect had attempted to strike a compromise with the victim’s family through a jirga, but when the family declined, he fled the medressah.

The police started the paperwork but haven't done much else against the suspect under section 377 of PPC and 53 of Child Protection Act and arrested him.

The SHO said the preliminary medical examination report confirmed the offence.

Sterile Fruitfly Project Seems successful in Mexico
[IAEA] The Mediterranean fruit fly or medfly, one of the most devastating insect pests infesting fruits and vegetables, has been successfully eradicated in the Mexican state of Colima, as announced by the Mexican authorities this week. In cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Mexico used a nuclear-based technique known as the sterile insect technique (SIT) to eradicate the medfly that had been threatening fruit and vegetable crops, farmers; livelihoods and the country's economy.
basically they nuked a billion med flies a week for a month or so and let the sterile flies do their thing
