Build that wall! BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors erects $35,000 fencing and electric gate around her new $1.4M Topanga Canyon home she bought with CASH - following backlash over her $3M property portfolio
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Hatefulness pays well.
  • Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors has been feathering her new nest in the ritzy Los Angeles neighborhood of Topanga Canyon

  • Exclusive DailyMail.com photos show the 37-year-old social activist has installed a new wooden fence and electric gate around the 2,380 sq ft property

  • A neighbor told DailyMail.com that the cost of the exterior home improvements was in the '$35,000 range'

  • DailyMail.com has also learned Cullors paid for the $1.4million three-bed, three-bath home in March in cash

  • 'There is no mortgage holder on the property,' a realtor who checked the title documents confirmed, adding that it was bought by an entity called 'Abolitionist Entertainment, LLC'

  • Online records show it was registered in California last August with Cullors listed as an owner or 'member'

  • The pricey new installation comes amid backlash over reports revealing Cullors has amassed a $3M property portfolio, owning four homes in upscale areas of California and Georgia

  • The self-proclaimed 'trained Marxist' stepped down as executive director of BLM last month following fierce criticism but claimed the properties were purchased with money she made from her book deals

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Jeffrey Toobin Rehired By CNN; Redemption Tour Kicks Off
Listen up, maggots - I expect only the best, highest level snark for this asshole.

...aaaand - begin!

[Zero Hedge] - Journalist (good one! - ed) Jeffrey Toobin, who was suspended by CNN and fired from The New Yorker after he was caught stretching his baloney whacking his pud masturbating on a zoom call last October in full view of colleagues, has been allowed back into the fold at the failing cable news network following a six-month period of 'reflection and growth.'
It got bigger?
Hilariously, he had to sit there as CNN host Alisyn Camerota rang the shame bell behind him - then explain his side of it.

"...you were caught jerking off doing the Onan masturbating, on camera. You were subsequently fired from that job after 27 years of working [at the New Yorker], and you since then have been on leave from CNN," said Camerota, adding "What the hell were you thinking?"
He wasn’t thinking — it was all about the feelz. Literally. Ick.
"I was thinking, man is this going to be good..."
Toobin acknowledged that he had been "deeply moronic," and his actions were "indefensible," adding that he's spent the last seven "miserable months" trying to be a better person, "in therapy, trying to do some public service, working at a food bank, working on a new book..."
In his case, the difference between mental masturbation and the regular kind is profoundly unclear.
Good to know what it takes to compel Toobin to engage in charitable acts. We can only hope he washed his hands before dealing with people's food.

#5  One reason people get fired is because of poor judgement. You really cannot predict every possible future situation which is why you should try to always hire people with good judgement. And we have CNN rehiring someone who demonstrated the worst kind of judgement and publicly acknowledges he is “deeply moronic”.

I am actually happy CNN does this to themselves.

NGO body condemns killing of aid workers in Lakes state
[Sudan Tribune] South Sudan NGO Forum said it is deeply saddened by the killing on Monday of two humanitarian health workers in Lakes States.

In a statement, the forum said it stands in solidarity with all humanitarians affected by violence.

On 7th June, a clearly marked humanitarian convoy was ambushed on the Mapourdit-Aluakluak road when unknown assailants fired at the cars, resulting in two South Sudanese staff working for CUAMM being killed.

This attack, according to the NGO body, happened less than a month after a similar but unrelated attack in Budi County, Eastern Equatoria State in which a health worker employed by Cordaid was killed on Chukudum-Kapoeta road.

"2021 has already seen a significant increase in the killings and attacks on aid workers compared to the same period last year, continuing a highly concerning trend and putting the lives of those in need of life saving assistance at risk," partly reads the NGO Forum’s statement.

"Humanitarian staff must be able to operate safely in South Sudan," it added.

The NGO Forum further said it is extremely worried at the continued violence affecting roads and crisis afflicted parts of South Sudan.

’"At a time that humanitarian needs are worsening, a safe and enabling environment across the country is critical for aid to reach populations in need," it stated.

Meanwhile,
...back at the secret hideout, Scarface Al sneeringly put his proposition to little Nell...
South Sudan NGO Forum called upon the government of South Sudan at all levels to ensure that roads in the country are safe to use, and that humanitarian workers and assets are protected.

"Only then can humanitarian agencies continue to serve the people of South Sudan by reaching communities in need of lifesaving humanitarian assistance," the forum concluded.

South Sudan is one of the most dangerous places for humanitarian workers.

Russian court tags Navalny, organizations as extremist
[TASS] The Moscow City Court ruled on Wednesday that the Anti-Corruption Foundation and the Citizens’ Rights Protection Foundation (the non-profit NGOs recognized in Russia as foreign agents) as well as the Navalny Headquarters public movement should be recognized as hard boy organizations, following a request from the Moscow City Prosecutor’s Office, the court’s press service told TASS.

"The Moscow City Court has upheld the administrative claim brought by the Moscow City Prosecutors’ Office against the Anti-Corruption Foundation nonprofit organization, the Citizens’ Rights Protection Foundation nonprofit organization, and the Navalny Headquarters public movement," the agency was told.

The press service added that the court disbanded the Anti-Corruption Foundation and the Citizens’ Rights Protection Foundation NGOs and banned the Navalny Headquarters public movement. The press service pointed out that the ruling is subject to immediate execution in terms of shutting those organizations down.

US State Department comments:
We condemn today’s decision by a Moscow court to designate as “extremist” three organizations affiliated with imprisoned opposition figure Aleksey Navalny. This designation puts staff members, volunteers, and thousands of supporters across Russia at risk of criminal prosecution and imprisonment for exercising fundamental human rights guaranteed by the Russian Constitution, and it further restricts the ability of opposition candidates to appear on the ballot in the September Duma elections. With this action, Russia has effectively criminalized one of the country’s few remaining independent political movements.

The European Parliament recommends disconnecting Belarus from SWIFT
Direct translation of the article. Edited
[REGNUM] Disconnecting Belarus from the SWIFT system "for Protasevich" was recommended by the European Parliament in its resolution, the document says.

The resolution adopted today, June 10, and bearing a recommendatory character, was approved by 626 deputies, 16 were against and 36 abstained. Minsk is convicted in it for the arrest of the founder of the TG-channel Nexta Roman Protasevich and a citizen of the Russian Federation Sophia Sapega.

MEPs demanded the release of these people, as well as other "political prisoners".

The authors of the resolution demanded that tough sanctions be introduced against Minsk, which, according to the MEPs, should be subject to a number of state and private companies. So, the oil, steel, woodworking sectors, as well as the sphere of production of potash fertilizers should fall under the sanctions.

In addition, it is proposed not to allow the state television of Belarus to broadcast matches of the European Football Championship. There was also a place in the resolution for Russia, whose “participation” in “terrorist attacks, behind which the Belarusian regime stands” , the deputies propose to conduct an investigation in the EU.

Ohio sues Google, seeks to declare the internet company a public utility
[BEACONJOURNAL] Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has filed a lawsuit asking a court to declare Google a public utility that should be regulated as such.

"Google uses its dominance of internet search to steer Ohioans to Google’s own products — that's discriminatory and anti-competitive," Yost said in a statement. "When you own the railroad or the electric company or the cellphone tower, you have to treat everyone the same and give everybody access."

The lawsuit, filed in Delaware County Common Pleas Court, is believed to be the first of its kind, Yost's office said.

Specifically, the lawsuit seeks a legal declaration that Google is a "common carrier," like phone, gas and electric companies, which must provide its services to anyone willing to pay its fee. In lieu of a fee, Yost argues in the complaint, Google collects user data that is monetized primarily by selling targeted advertisements.

Yost argues Google should therefore not be able to prioritize placement of its own products, services and websites on its search results pages.

Google disadvantages businesses and consumers by ranking its own services above competitors, Yost argues in the complaint. For example, if someone searches for a flight, Google Flights is the first result that pops up after advertisements, not other search sites such as Expedia and Travelocity.

Lordstown Motors: Electric truck startup warns it may go out of business
[MSN] Lordstown Motors, the startup electric truck maker, warned Tuesday it is close to running out of cash and may be forced out of business in the next year.

The news, which sent Lordstown shares down about 20% in midday trading Wednesday, is a blow to not only the company but also to the gritty industrial town from which it gets its name. For 53 years, Lordstown, Ohio, was home to a massive General Motors plant, which GM closed in 2019.

The car giant sold the 6.2 million square foot factory, nearly twice the size of the Pentagon, later that year to start-up Lordstown Motors, which promised to pay union-level wages to workers to build its Endurance pickup truck. It is due to start production of that truck in September. Lordstown currently has about 600 employees.

But Tuesday the startup said it no longer has enough money to start commercial production. It warned there is now "substantial doubt" about its ability to stay in business over the course of the next 12 months.

The company filing said it had $259.7 million in cash on hand as of March 31, after posting a net loss of $125.2 million over the previous three months.

It said it's ability to stay in business "is dependent on its ability to complete the development of its electric vehicles, obtain regulatory approval, begin commercial scale production and launch the sale of such vehicles." It is seeking additional financing.
Sounds like either fraud or managerial incompetence. They should have known what their burn rate was going to be before they started.

#14
Since Texas and California consume more electricity than any other states, they provide a good snapshot of what a future filled with electric vehicles might look like. In both cases, an increase in EVs would drive consumption higher, with the potential to strain local infrastructure.

If virtually all passenger cars in Texas were electrified today, the state would need approximately 110 more terawatt-hours of electricity per year — the average annual electricity consumption of 11 million homes. The added electricity demand would result in a 30 percent increase over current consumption in Texas.

By comparison, because of a more temperate climate, California might require nearly 50 percent more electricity than it currently consumes if passenger vehicles in the state were fully electrified. That means California would need to generate an additional 120 terawatt-hours of electricity per year.

Not just power plants, but transmission lines, too. And we will need charging stations too. Can you say "environmental impact lawsuits up the wazoo"? I knew you could!

Something I learned recently about Teslas:
they weigh roughly 4,000 lbs gross and use a battery that weighs 1,000 lbs. In contrast, 15 gallons of gas weighs about 90 lbs.

The point here is that every time you speed up or brake in your 'efficient' electric vehicle, you are accelerating a half-ton of dead weight. Every time.

Europe
Eighteen-month jail term for man who slapped Macron
[AlAhram] A French court on Thursday sentenced a man who slapped French President Emmanuel Macron across the face this week to a prison term of 18 months, 14 of which were suspended.

Damien Tarel, a 28-year-old medieval history enthusiast, has been in jug since the assault on Tuesday which a prosecutor called "absolutely unacceptable" and "an act of deliberate violence".

The court in the southeastern city of Valence convicted Tarel on a charge of violence against a person invested with public authority.

Tarel acknowledged hitting the president with a ``rather violent mostly peaceful'' slap. ``When I saw his friendly, lying look, I felt disgust, and I had a violent mostly peaceful reaction,`` he told the court. ``It was an impulsive reaction... I was surprised myself by the violence.''

While he said he and his friends had considered bringing an egg or a cream pie to throw at the president, he said they dropped the idea _ and insisted that the slap wasn't premeditated.

``I think that Emmanuel Macron represents the decline of our country,'' he said, without explaining what he meant.

Tarel told the court that he supported the yellow vest economic protest movement that shook Macron's presidency in 2019. He told Sherlocks that he held right- or ultra-right political convictions without being a member of a party or group, according to the prosecutor's office.

The charge of violence against a person invested with public authority is punishable by up to 3 years' imprisonment and a fine of 45,000 euros ($54,000).

Macron wouldn't comment Thursday on the trial, but insisted that ``nothing justifies violence in a democratic society, never.''

``It's not such a big deal to get a slap when you go toward a crowd to say hello to some people who were waiting for a long time,'' he said in an interview with broadcaster BFM-TV. ``We must not make that stupid and violent mostly peaceful act more important than it is.''

At the same time, the president added, ``we must not make it banal, because anyone with public authority is entitled to respect.''
Tarel, unemployed and living on benefits with his disabled girlfriend, said he had been annoyed by Macron’s decision to come to greet him — "an electoral tactic that I didn’t appreciate", BFM reported. In a video of the incident, a smiling Macron can be seen striding towards a crowd of onlookers including Tarel who are being kept behind a barrier.
An Nahar adds:
In its verdict, the court also ordered Tarel, who had no prior convictions, to find a job or a job training program, and banned him from carrying any weapon for five years.

Prosecutor Alex Perrin told the court he was worried that Tarel might commit similar offences again, saying he had detected "a kind of cold determination" in the defendant, and was suspicious of his links to "martial arts, the Middle Ages and the world of mangas."

Dear Honorable U. S. Congress Representative Louie Gohmert, The People of Texas elected you to represent then at a time when Science was left to scientists.
We now know, since the election of President Joseph Biden that there are two sciences, one for the ones who believe in the scientific method and another which believe in "The Science" of the Democrat Party, as illustrated by Dr. Fauci pronouncements of late.
Dear Honorable U.S. Representative Louie Gomert, with your line of 'logic', the member of the United States of America, otherwise known as "We the People" respectfully request, that you enjoin yourself, and not introduce another 'wing' of science, as it will likely muddle the science, which was here to for understood by we the people, and also likely to confuse member of the democrat party, a party of which you are not, to no end.
So please refrain from any further discussions about moving the moon and the earth, lest you wish to inadvertently seek a Devine Intervention for the total destruction of Mankind.

#12  Definitely trolling. As in "if you think you can change the climate, why not go big?"
Posted by: Mercutio || 06/11/2021 8:17 Comments || Top||

#13  Gohmert’s point was that the sun and moon have more impact on climate than man does.

Nothing humans are doing or going to do will alter the fundamentals of factors beyond their control. The Sun is a variable star with constantly changing cycles of output. The Earth's plate tectonics have altered land masses and it oceans' vary in temperature. One very large volcano can put more particulate matter into the atmosphere in several days than all that humanity can do in a year. The Earth has a natural wobble in its axis and where that occurs varies in its position on the elliptical orbit around the Sun. None of that is really treated with anything but the flip of a hand brushing off the hard questions by the chicken littles of MMGW. It's all a Wizard of Oz show. The man behind the curtain is just the politician looking for more power and control.

Louis "Louie" Buller Gohmert Jr. is an American attorney and former judge currently serving as the U.S. Representative from Texas's 1st congressional district since 2005. Gohmert is a Republican and is part of the Tea Party movement. In January 2015, he unsuccessfully challenged John Boehner for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives.

#25  PJ Media has a longer excerpt from the Zoom conference transcript:

Gohmert is not an adherent of the high church of man-made global warming. This is why he brought up the impact of the path of the sun, sunspots, and flares, and other celestial activity that obviously has a direct impact on the warming and cooling of the earth’s temperatures separate from humans.

He asked Eberlien what she and the Forest Service would do about the heavenly activity that contributes in greater amounts to the earth’s temperatures and climate changes than man.

“I understand, from what’s been testified to the Forest Service and the BLM, you want very much to work on the issue of climate change,” Gohmert said, referring to the Bureau of Land Management.

“I was informed by the immediate past director of NASA that they’ve found that the moon’s orbit is changing slightly and so is the Earth’s orbit around the sun. We know there’s been significant solar flare activity,” he said. “And so, is there anything that the National Forest Service or BLM can do to change the course of the moon’s orbit or the Earth’s orbit around the sun? Obviously, that would have profound effects on our climate.”

Eberlien responded, smiling, “I would have to follow up with you on that one, Mr. Gohmert.”

“If you figure out there’s a way in the Forest Service you could make that change, I’d like to know,” Gohmert said.
