#1  Middleburg, VA. and Condon's Guns is a great place to visit, even if you don't make a purchase. I have no connection to the store, just miss going there. Too much of a journey these days. I recommend the 'Hunter's Head' in nearby Upperville for dinner.

Store website found here.

'Rogue' Chinese Virologist Claims She Has "Evidence" COVID-19 Was Created In A Lab
[ZeroHedge (10-min video from itv)] Once again, the claims of a rogue Chinese scientist with a lot to say, and at least some evidence to back up her claims, has been ignored by the mainstream media. Intead, Chinese virologist Dr. Li-Meng Yan, who was among the first to study the virus at a prestigious university in Hong Kong, where she worked before fleeing China, appeared on the British interview show 'Loose Women' late last week. During the interview, she answered questions about her claims, and reiterated that the CCP didn't just deliberately cover up COVID-19 in a manner that led to thousands of unnecessary deaths, the party also knew that SARS-CoV-2 was created by Chinese scientists.

Asked about the origins of the virus, the doctor said "it comes from a lab," again rejecting reports from last year that the virus originated from a Wuhan wet market, claiming they were a "smokescreen".

Dr. Li also commented on her claims that Beijing deliberately tried to cover up the outbreak when it first learned of the killer virus, effectively allowing it to escape China and infect the world. When she sounded the alarm about human-to-human transmission in December last year, her former supervisors at the Hong Kong School of Public Health, a reference laboratory for the World Health Organization, silenced her. After a while, she "could not keep silent", and decided to flee.

In April, Yan reportedly fled Hong Kong and escaped to America in an effort to evade persecution and to 'spread the truth' about the pandemic.

"From the beginning, I decided to get this message out in the world and it was very scary in the world because I'm a doctor and I knew if I don't tell the truth to the world I will regret it myself in the future."

"I never thought this would happen when I did the secret investigation, I [thought] I would speak to my supervisor and they would do the right thing on behalf of the government."

"But what I saw was nobody responding to that. People are scared of the government but this was something urgent, and Chinese New Year time, [I knew] this was a dangerous virus and all these things meant I could not keep silent, there are human beings and global health [at risk]."

China's national health commission has denied that the outbreak started in the lab, insisting there is "no evidence" the new coronavirus was created in a laboratory. Beiing has already scapegoated a large group of local party officials for the errors.

But Dr. Li's testimony remains extremely compelling. Video

#1  If there is any credible evidence produced, it would be huge. Something like provable sequences of RNA, that sort of thing.

But given its ZeroHedge, unless this is info from a reliable third party, its likely horse shit like most of their stuff.

#7  (g)romoron, wrong. Itss a single strand RNA virus, the kind that mutates most rapidly, and there are already a slew of mutation subtypes out there. And it is faily routine for virus to develop cross species infection ability, its called a "zoonotic" virus, there's a whole field of study about these. Of 1,415 pathogens known to infect humans, 61% were zoonotic (Taylor LH, Latham SM, Woolhouse ME (2001). "Risk factors for human disease emergence". Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences. 356 (1411): 983–89. doi:10.1098/rstb.2001.088). Many of these are secondary zoonosis - that is the virus gets to humans by an animal host to start with, while not being deadly to the animal host. Those are called "vectors" - like mosquitos with West Nile. Live animal markets are known to be high risk areas for this form of transmission.

Distinctive features of RNA virus (like COVID and its corona virus base) replication include high mutation rates, high yields, and short replication times. As a consequence, RNA viruses replicate as complex and dynamic mutant swarms. (Domingo E, Holland JJ. RNA virus mutations and fitness for survival. Annu Rev Microbiol. 1997;51:151-178. doi:10.1146/annurev.micro.51.1.151)

And this is all old knowledge. So Science says you're wrong and an idiot to make your assertions.

Any "evolutionary virologist" would pound that into your apparently impenetrable skull.

The Origins of Western Civilization : VDH
[AmericanFreedomAlliance] "The Origins of Western Civilization: What it is, and Where did it come from" is the first in an 8-part series on "The Odyssey of Western Civilization" by the Freedom Academy, hosted by Victor Davis Hanson.

The West arose in a particular time and place, Greece in the eighth
century B.C., during the dark age that followed the collapse of
Mycenaean civilization. An agricultural revolution gave rise to the
autonomous yeoman farmer, backbone of the democratic city-state. Their
innovations included constitutional government, free-market economics,
private property and individual liberty - concepts unknown in Mycenae,
not to mention Egypt and Mesopotamia. Here the West begins.

US Cyber Command shifts from defense to offense
[Jpost] The move will enable the command to combine data and intelligence with operations and thus participate fully in offensive and influential operations

The US Military's Cyber Command moved last week to its new home, an ultramodern building that cost $366 million, located in Fort Gordon in the state of Georgia. The head of the command, Gen. Stephen Fogarty, said the move to the new headquarters will allow the command to fully participate in offensive and influential operations. At a ceremony marking the move of the command, Fogarty said that "We’re going to take a much more direct role in the attack or offense and influence portion of the mission"

According to a report by the Defense News website, Fogarty noted that until now the American government had adopted a defensive cyber policy. "We’re at the point now where they have picked up more of the operate and defend, and we’re at a point where we’re able to monitor that. They keep us informed as behavior (of the network) changes really (on a) minute-by-minute basis," Fogarty said. "What that allows us to do is focus more on integrating all the elements of information operations, electronic warfare, and really very importantly all the commercial data and information that’s available."

An ultramodern and advanced operations center that provides an ability "to sense and understand the global information environment with connectivity to all Army service component commands" was set up in the new headquarters building, according to Fogarty.

#3  I remember reading a year or two ago that tourism was already slowing down in Vegas. Hotels/Resorts are really starting to nickel & dime people with "fees".

Let Vegas sink their own ship due to their greed. Maybe that's why they need pro sports as their traditional attractions are not what they once we're.

#5  I actually had read that Vegas had suffered horribly during the Recession and burned pretty brightly during the 2015-2019 years. But yeah, a lot of resorts are working pretty hard to nickel and dime people. And their structure of fees and ever worsening service, even for VIPS, makes them a pretty bad proposition.

#6  Actually, high-end retailers (which are going bankrupt at record rates), are also doing the same. Increasing expenses, awful service, minimum wage serfs replacing competent sales people, etc. Somehow, a minimum wager can't provide the same service as a professionally paid employee. And the lost business is never quite made up by the drop in wages paid.

How cold war spymasters found arrogance of Carlos the Jackal too hot to handle
[The Guardian] Two men and a heavily pregnant woman stand in a hotel room in Prague. The men are arguing with two officers from the Czech state security agency, sent to convince them they should leave on the next available flight. A warning that assassins from the French secret services are on their way to kill the three ends the dispute. One stows a pistol in his jacket pocket, the second straps on another two, the woman fastens more weapons around her waist. By late afternoon, they had left on a flight to Moscow.

It was June 1986 and the last visit of Carlos the Jackal to Czechoslovakia. Neither the notorious terrorist, nor his sidekick, nor his wife would set foot in the Communist-ruled state again. For most of a decade, Carlos had been travelling and living in eastern Europe. Now he was no longer welcome.

The terrorist, whose real name was Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, had gained global notoriety with a series of attacks carried out on behalf of Palestinian extremists between 1973 and 1975. In the west, the polyglot Venezuelan radical was frequently portrayed as an agent of the KGB, trained and armed on behalf of Moscow’s security service by counterparts in the Soviet satellite states of central and eastern Europe.

Now, classified documents discovered in archives in eastern Europe reveal a different picture: not of a master terrorist working hand in glove with ruthlessly efficient regimes to launch attacks in the west, but of an arrogant, demanding, and unreliable terrorist entrepreneur who manipulated the anxieties of insecure decision-makers and the ignorance of security officials from the Baltic to the Black Sea until they finally ran out of patience.

"The archives show us that [these states] were on the defensive, often feared instability and worried that violence would spill over behind the Iron Curtain ... There is no evidence for any plan for a destabilisation campaign targeting the west," said Adrian Hänni, a Swiss historian who has edited of a new collection of essays on eastern European support for terrorism during the cold war.

The event, dubbed the 'Trump Train Parade,' made its way around the I-275 loop.

Hundreds, if not thousands, of vehicles decked out in pro-Trump gear filled the interstate from various entry points. An estimated 5-8 thousand people took part.
So that’d be thousands of vehicles, then. Photos and TV report video can be seen at the link.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Coronavirus lockdown: Gov't approves three-week closure
[JPost] - The decision to impose a three-week closure from Rosh Hashanah through Sukkot was approved by the government after a meeting that lasted more than seven hours. The closure passed despite many ministers expressing opposition to the plan the the coronavirus cabinet passed last week to help stop the spread of the novel virus.
Better late than never
...The public will not be allowed to venture more than 500 meters from home and stores, restaurants and all places for recreation and leisure activities will be closed.

It is expected that private places of work will be allowed to continue operating, while an outline for the public sector will be established in the coming days.

...Finally, grocery stores, pharmacies and other essential providers will be allowed to operate.

...The meeting lasted more than seven hours and was heated, and ministers took their turns attacking the Health Ministry for not doing enough to stop the spread of the virus. Some, such as Science & Technology Minister Izhar Shay (Blue and White) and Economy Minister Amir Peretz (Labor), fought against the closure, saying the harm to the Israeli economy will be too severe for the country to recover.

‘Go beat up a Zionist’: Brooklyn hospital fights to fire doctor who made antisemitic posts
[Forward] A Brooklyn hospital that serves a large Orthodox Jewish population is fighting in court to try to fire a pediatric resident who posted antisemitic and homophobic tweets, according to legal filings.

New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital tried to boot Walid Khass from its pediatric residency program after staff learned of his social media posts in the spring of 2019, but he sued the hospital to be readmitted to the program and won. New York-Presbyterian is currently in an appeals process, and both sides will appear in virtual court Sept. 17 for oral arguments.
That’s because it’s New York City and New York state. We handle such things better in Ohio, as Dr. Lara Kollab discovered.
Khass’ tweets, according to exhibits in the court filings, include sentiments like "Go beat up a Zionist," "You trust the Jews— I never did," "I hope only Israelis get ebola" and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s mother, Soad Ibrahim Mohammed Al Shishi, "is a Yahoodi. That should mean a lot to you. A higher group run the corrupt world." The posts spanned 2012 to 2017 and also included anti-gay and racist material.

The hospital said in court documents that such tweets make Khass ineligible to train in the program because some of them condoned or encouraged violence. The posts would also harm the program, the hospital said, because they would make it impossible to create a respectful, inclusive work environment.

"These posts would cause serious and extreme hardship on the Program because it would interfere with the Program’s ability to serve a patient population consisting of a large number of Orthodox Jews," said one filing.

Khass’ lawyer did not respond to a request for comment. Officials at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital were also not available to comment.

The tweets first came to light in 2017 when Khass was in medical school at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada. He went through a disciplinary process there and was allowed to begin clinical rotations with a warning.

Khass wrote the posts after "two of the Plaintiffs’ relatives were killed in missile strikes launched by Israel," according to court documents.

Khass’ case revolves in part around a contract dispute — he claims that matching for residency "establishes a binding commitment to offer or to accept an appointment if a match results and to start training in good faith," according to the complaint.

The case has echoes of another that surfaced recently of a woman who was fired from two residency programs for antisemitic tweets and lost her medical license this year.

In both cases, Canary Mission, the website that names and shames people who post antisemitic content online, publicized the residents’ tweets, part of the series of events that lead to their dismissals.
