24K Voter Records in Florida County Contain Errors, Potential Fraud
[Free Beacon] Legal group finds hundreds of double voting cases, thousands of deceased voters on rolls in Palm Beach County

An election integrity watchdog has found 24,000 instances of irregularities among the voter rolls in Palm Beach County, Fla., according to a new report.

The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF), a group that litigates to protect election integrity, discovered double voting by the same registrants, double registrants across state lines, deceased voters on rolls, and apparent noncitizens previously registered to vote in Palm Beach County following a three-month investigation involving office visits, records inspections, and voter roll audits.

The findings raise concerns in the swing state one year out from the 2020 elections. It was Florida's election results that sent the 2000 presidential race between George W. Bush and Al Gore to the Supreme Court. Palm Beach County itself faced massive criticism as recently as the 2018 midterm elections when it could not finish three state-mandated recounts by imposed deadlines. The events led to the county's supervisor of elections, Susan Bucher, being ousted from her position and the implementation of a $15 million voting overhaul.

"Concerns ranged from apparent clerical errors memorialized in voter records to evidence of dead and double voting," PILF's report states. "Seemingly unlawful claims of business and government addresses were also found used as residential ones. Some individuals (unwillingly or otherwise) even demonstrated an ability to register multiple times under the same name, address, and date of birth thanks to human or computer system errors between the county elections office and Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles personnel. Perhaps most alarming of all, apparent noncitizens were documented registering to vote in Palm Beach County‐sometimes while admitting their immigration status on voter applications."

Clovis brewery prints 'Epstein didn't kill himself' on the bottom of cans
CLOVIS, Calif. (FOX26) – Questions surrounding Jeffrey Epstein's apparent suicide have popped up everywhere lately, and now they have even made their way to the bottom of a beer can.

Printed on the bottom of the cans sold at Tatical Ops Brewing in Fresno is the message, "2019/11/06 EPSTEIN DIDNT KILL HIMSELF."

Manager Carlos Tovar said he first thought of the idea about a week ago.

The idea came to him because the question of if Jeffrey Epstein actually committed suicide is "a big thing right now."

"Epstein didn't kill himself" memes have taken social media and the internet by storm since his death was first reported.

The brewery will only be releasing one batch of the cans, about 54 packs worth.

The message can be found printed underneath blue cans of their Basher Oatmeal Stout.

The cans are already available for purchase, you can pick up a pack after 4 p.m., which is when the business opens for the day.

VA study finds veterans suffering from severe pain are at higher risk for suicide
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Veterans who experience pain are more likely to attempt suicide, according to a study by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The study, published this year in the Journal of Pain, found that veterans suffering from moderate to severe pain were at higher risk for suicide attempts over the course of a year.

"This close correlation between pain intensity and suicide risk and death rates suggests that reducing pain, or the perception of pain, can help prevent Veteran suicide," Dr. Lisham Ashrafioun, a researcher at the VA Center of Excellence for Suicide Prevention, wrote in a VA blog post.

Ashrafioun and his colleagues found that moderate to severe pain increased the risk of a suicide attempt, even when outside factors such as PTSD, depression, and a history of suicidal behavior were taken into account.

Ohio detective dies after being shot twice in face during drug raid
[FOX] An Ohio detective who was shot twice in the face while serving a drug-related warrant on Monday has died, police said Thursday.

"We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Det. Jorge Del Rio who succumbed to a line of duty injury today," the Dayton Police Department tweeted.

"Earlier today at Grandview Hospital, Det. Del Rio acted to save lives through the generous gift of organ donation."

Del Rio, a 30-year veteran of the department, was shot while working with a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) task force, Police Chief Richard Biehl had said.

Cash, fentanyl and marijuana, along with three weapons each containing a 30-round magazine, were recovered from the scene, investigators said.

The suspected shooter, Nathan Goddard, 39, was charged with felonious assault on an agent, according to U.S. Attorney Dave DeVillers.

Cahke Cortner, 39, and Lionel Combs III, 40, were charged with conspiring to distribute drugs, according to an affidavit. Courtney Allen, 34, also was in custody in connection to the shooting, the station said.

The DEA’s Dayton office reportedly conducted an investigation on a Dayton fentanyl operation between July and October, which led them to believe Goddard was a supplier. Police were conducting a search warrant on the suspected home Monday when Del Rio was shot, they said.

Jewish paper's page 1 editorial asks ‘fellow citizens' not to vote Corbyn
[J-Post] The London-based Jewish Chronicle, Britain’s oldest Jewish newspaper, published a front-page editorial calling on "our fellow British citizens" not to vote for Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn in next month’s national elections.

"The vast majority of British Jews consider Jeremy Corbyn to be an antisemite. In the most recent poll, last month, the figure was 87 per cent," read the editorial, which also criticized Corbyn for his failure to deal with antisemitism in the party.

'Aggressive' Animal Rights Activists Target Blind Man, 30, For Keeping A Guide Dog That They Claim Should Be 'running Free In The Fields'
A blind man was left shocked after being targeted by angry animal rights activists ‐ because he has a guide dog.

Jonathan Attenborough, who has been totally blind for five years, relies on his ’constant companion’, a highly trained labrador called Sam.

The 30-year-old, from Newburgh, Fife, said the guide dog had enabled him to lead a more fulfilling life since he was paired with it in April last year.

However, after two verbal attacks from people claiming to be campaigners against animal cruelty, he has begun to worry about further abuse.

And he is not alone. Another blind man has also come forward to describe the hostility he too has faced.

Bolivia's Morales fumes as protesters attack mayoral ally
[Al Jazeera] Bolivia's President Evo Morales condemned on Thursday an attack on a female mayor in which an opposition mob forcibly cut her hair, covered her in paint and marched her barefoot through the streets.

Bolivia has been rocked by deadly post-election violence over opposition claims that Morales rigged his re-election last month.

A 20-year-old student died in festivities on Wednesday between pro- and anti-government demonstrators in the central city of Cochabamba, bringing the overall toll to three dead since the October 20 election.

In nearby Vinto, an opposition mob stormed the municipal headquarters and dragged the mayor Patricia Arce, into the street before setting the building ablaze.

Morales said in a tweet on Thursday that Arce - a member of his ruling Movement for Socialism (MAS) party - had been "cruelly kidnapped for expressing and defending her ideals and the principles of the poorest."

Television images showed her on the ground, her hair cut, and covered in red paint. She was dragged and forced to walk barefoot through the town by the mob before being rescued by police on cycle of violences.

Morales' party demanded the police bring the perpetrators to justice.

Arce's office told local media on Thursday the mayor "is recovering" from her ordeal.

Man Arrested in Mexico Killings No Longer Suspect
[NBC] A man arrested Tuesday in the Mexican border city of Agua Prieta with a cache of weapons was not involved in the killings of nine U.S. citizens, Mexican officials say, as pressure mounted on the government to make an arrest.

Alfonso Durazo, a public security official, said Wednesday that preliminary information indicates that the suspect detained Tuesday is not linked to the attack, The Associated Press reported. NBC News was not immediately able to independently verify the AP report.

Earlier, criminal investigators in Mexico had said the suspect — who was found with multiple assault weapons on him and two hostages in his captivity — may have participated in Monday's brutal highway ambush, which killed three women and six children, including two infants.

The attack happened on a highway in the northern Mexican border state of Sonora as several families were traveling in a convoy of large SUVs that investigators believe drug cartels may have mistaken for those of rival gangs.

Relatives of the victims described a harrowing scene, with bullets flying at mothers and their children and a car bursting into flames when its gas tank was apparently shot. Eight children ranging from 7 months old to early teens survived; five are currently hospitalized in Phoenix, including some with serious injuries.

On Thursday, the first funerals were held for some of the victims.

Mourners earlier in the week arrived in the municipality of Bavispe, where the funerals are being held, in dozens of SUV-style vehicles and pickup trucks escorted by the Mexican National Guard, Reuters reported.

"We came prepared to sleep on the floor, in tents. Whatever is needed to support the families who died in this terrorist act," Alex LeBaron, a former congressman and cousin of one of the women, Rhonita Miller, said, adding that mourners had come from across the United States and Mexico, according to Reuters.

Miller is set to be buried on Friday, Reuters reported. On Thursday, funerals were held for Dawna Ray Langford, 43, and her children, Trevor Harvey Langford, 11, and Rogan Jay Langford, 2.

Mexico's president has invited U.S. authorities to aid in the investigation into who is responsible for the victims' deaths, and President Donald Trump has said in tweets that the United States is "ready, willing and able" to help Mexico "in cleaning out these monsters."

The victims of the attack lived in Mexico and all belonged to a Mormon offshoot group. Some family members have disputed Mexican authorities' account of the killings being a case of mistaken identity, arguing that cartel members know everyone in the area and would be unlikely to make such an error.

China-Japan-Koreas
U.S. Dependence on Pharmaceutical Products From China
h/t Instapundit
Last month, the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission held a hearing on the United States’ growing reliance on China's pharmaceutical products. The topic reminded me of a spirited discussion described in Bob Woodward’s book, Fear: Trump in the White House. In the discussion, Gary Cohn, then chief economic advisor to President Trump, argued against a trade war with China by invoking a Department of Commerce study that found that 97 percent of all antibiotics in the United States came from China. "If you’re the Chinese and you want to really just destroy us, just stop sending us antibiotics," he said.

Cohn’s words highlight a security concern associated with pharmaceuticals from China. As Rosemary Gibson noted in her testimony, centralization of the global supply chain of medicines in a single country makes it vulnerable to interruption, "whether by mistake or design." If we are dependent on China for thousands of ingredients and raw materials to make our medicine, China could use this dependence as a weapon against us. While the Department of Defense only purchases a small quantity of finished pharmaceuticals from China, about 80 percent of the active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) used to make drugs in the United States are said to come from China and other countries like India. For example, the chemical starting material used to make doxycycline, the recommended treatment for anthrax exposure, comes from China. When an influential Chinese economist earlier this year suggested that Beijing curb its exports of raw materials for vitamins and antibiotics as a countermeasure in the trade war with the United States, the worries surrounding our API dependence to China seemed to be vindicated. Concern about a disruption in the supply chain could explain why the tariffs on Chinese products proposed by the United States Trade Representative in May 2019, worth approximately $300 billion, excludes "pharmaceuticals, certain pharmaceutical inputs, and select medical goods."

China, U.S. agree tariff rollback if phase one trade deal is completed
WASHINGTON/BEIJING (Reuters) - China and the United States have agreed to roll back tariffs on each others’ goods in a "phase one" trade deal if it is completed, officials from both sides said on Thursday, sparking division among some advisers to President Donald Trump.

The Chinese Commerce Ministry, without laying out a timetable, said the two countries had agreed to cancel the tariffs in phases.

A U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the rollback would be part of the first phase of a trade agreement that is still being put to paper for Trump and President Xi Jinping to sign.

White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told Fox News Channel the United States is "very, very optimistic" about completing a deal that would defuse a 16-month trade war between the world’s two largest economies.

#4  A U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the rollback would be part of the first phase of a trade agreement that is still being put to paper for Trump and President Xi Jinping to sign. White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told Fox News Channel the United States is “very, very optimistic” about completing a deal that would defuse a 16-month trade war between the world’s two largest economies.
and
White House trade adviser Peter Navarro, however, said in an interview with Fox Business Network: “There is no agreement at this time to remove any of the existing tariffs as a condition of the phase one deal.” “They’re just negotiating in public, trying to push this in a direction,” Navarro said of reports he said were put out by “Chinese propaganda press.”

Talk about mixed messages.

Europe
Italy surpasses Greece as euro area's riskiest borrower
h/t Instapundit
Greece has lost the dubious distinction of being the riskiest government borrower in the eurozone after its bond yields dipped below Italy’s for the first time since 2008.

Greek bonds have staged a powerful rally this year as investors hungry for yields have snapped up debt from former euro area crisis spots ‐ a trend that gained further momentum after Standard & Poor’s upgraded Athens’ credit rating to BB- late last month. Italian debt also performed strongly during the summer’s global bond rally, but some investors remain wary due to the effects of last year’s political tensions.

UN Votes Overwhelmingly to Condemn US Embargo on Cuba
[USNEWS] The U.N. General Assembly voted overwhelmingly Thursday to condemn the American economic embargo of Cuba for the 28th year, rejecting U.S. criticism of human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
violations there and criticizing the Trump administration's increasingly tough enforcement measures.

The vote in the 193-member world body was 187-3 with the U.S., Israel and Brazil voting "no," and Colombia and Ukraine abstaining. Last year, the assembly voted 189-2 with the U.S. and Israel voting "no" and no abstentions.

For the second year, Moldova did not vote.

General Assembly resolutions are not legally binding and are unenforceable, but they reflect world opinion and the vote has given Cuba an annual stage to demonstrate the isolation of the U.S. on the embargo.

It was imposed in 1960 following the revolution led by Fidel Castro and the nationalization of properties belonging to U.S. citizens and corporations. Two years later it was strengthened.

Brazil's conservative government, led by President Jair Bolsonaro, was the first in Latin America to vote against the resolution in at least five years.

#2  Telling somebody they have to trade with someone else. Note - its a boycott not an embargo. If you want to trade with them, go ahead. The only catch is with us is if you utilized facilities or materials that once belonged to Americans but were nationalized by the Castro government. That stuff is 'tainted' and so will be you in trade.

France reopens contested Jewish tomb in east Jerusalem
JERUSALEM (AP) ‐ French authorities reopened one of Jerusalem’s most magnificent ancient tombs to the public for the first time in over a decade, despite a dispute over access to the archaeological-cum-holy site in the city’s volatile eastern half.

After several aborted attempts, the French Consulate General reopened the Tomb of the Kings last month. But tensions between French authorities and Israeli nationalists and ultra-Orthodox Jews who seek open worship at the tomb and challenge France’s ownership continue to make day to day operations problematic at the site.

France, which has managed the property since the late 19th century, closed the site for an extensive $1.1 million restoration in 2009. The French tricolor flutters over the site’s massive black gate marked with the words "Republique Francaise," which obscures the grand 2,000-year-old mausoleum and Jewish ritual baths from the street.

The Tomb of the Kings is an underground burial complex dating to the first century BC and "definitely one of the most elaborately decorated tombs that we have from the early Roman period in Jerusalem," said Orit Peleg-Barkat, a Hebrew University archaeologist. Access to the interior burial chambers is prohibited.

“11,000 scientists” climate emergency petition includes a bunch of fake names
[WUWT] From the “there’s no quality control in climate science” department comes this laughable revelation, via the Australian:

Scientists’ petition on climate crisis blocked over fake signatories.

Dozens of signatories including Mickey Mouse and Harry Potter headmaster Albus Dumbledore from Hogwarts have been removed from an Alliance of World Scientists declaration of a “climate emergency”.

Access to the 11,000 name-petition that accompanied a statement of concern published in BioScience on Tuesday was blocked on Thursday.

A statement issued by Oregon State University said “an administrative error unfortunately saw the inclusion of a small number of invalid names”.

A Tennessee Police Department's Last Officer Resigns Over Ticket Quotas
[Reason] Ridgetop Police Chief Bryan Morris submitted his resignation on Friday. The Tennessee city is now without a police force and it's all due to a disagreement over illegal ticket quotas.

In January, FOX 17 released explosive reports that implicated Ridgetop Mayor Tony Reasoner and Vice Mayor McCaw Johnson in a scheme to generate revenue for the city of just over 2,000 by directing the police department as a whole to write a minimum of 210 tickets each month. The officers pushed back and finally took it upon themselves to secretly record Reasoner and Johnson. The recordings were then handed over to FOX 17.

Texas Fighting Back Against Bad Education
[TexasTribune] State to take over Houston Independent School District by replacing school board and superintendent.

Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath informed Houston ISD of those plans in a letter Wednesday. He also sent letters saying the state would take over Shepherd and Snyder ISDs.

Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath sent a letter to Houston ISD Interim Superintendent Grenita Lathan and Board President Diana Davila giving two principal reasons for the decision: the school board’s “failure of governance” and the repeated low academic performance of Wheatley High School, which received its seventh failing rating this year. In addition to appointing a board of governance to replace the elected school board, Morath will also appoint a superintendent to lead the district. The timeline of the takeover action is unclear.

The announcement of a takeover was far from unexpected. Last week, a final state investigation report recommended Morath replace the school board, finding that it had violated state open meetings law, attempted to influence how contracts were awarded, and took action on district issues individually without consulting other board members.

Just yesterday, the state denied Houston ISD’s appeal of Wheatley High School’s state accountability rating, killing one of its last hopes of remaining independently governed. A 2015 law requires Morath to penalize a district with a school that has been failing for more than four consecutive years, by either shutting down the school or taking over the entire district. This is the first time that law will be used to take over a district.

The same law also led Morath to inform two small, rural school districts Wednesday — Shepherd ISD, in East Texas, and Snyder ISD, in West Texas — that he would replace their elected school boards with appointed boards. Snyder Junior High and Shepherd’s elementary and intermediate schools received their fifth consecutive failing ratings this year.

The districts will also be assigned state conservators, who will attend all board meetings, oversee district operations and submit monthly progress reports to the state. Houston ISD has had a state-appointed conservator since 2016, initially appointed to oversee another long-failing school.
