Killer of heroic Turkish-German woman sentenced to 3 years
[Hurriyet Daily News] A man who fatally beat a German student of Turkish origin while she was trying to protect two women from harassment has been sentenced to three years in jail, Turkish media has reported.

Tugce Albayrak, 22, died in hospital on Nov. 28, 2014, after languishing in a coma for around two weeks following an altercation with three men of Serbian descent that she tried to stop from sexually harassing two German girls in the parking lot of a restaurant in Offenbach, a town near Frankfurt.

The Darmstadt State Court sentenced the 18-year-old main suspect, Sanel M., to three years in prison on June 16, according to Dogan News Agency. The prosecutor had sought a three-year, three-month sentence in the case that started on April 25 and ended after 10 hearings.

Albayrak's attempt to protect the girls triggered an outpouring of public sympathy in Germany, causing thousands, including German leaders, to pay their respects to the late woman on the streets and in social media.
He got three years in jug for beating her to death. How long is she going to be dead?

#1  Should have downed a few and then run over her with a car, at least in my part of the country. Probably would have gotten the same sentence.

#2  Still, it is a Turkish prison. If that film about the kid caught smuggling drugs is to be believed, one year there is like a good deal more anywhere else, in terms of total amount of anguish inflicted.

10-year-old boy fined PKR 700,000 over extra-marital affair in Pakistan
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A 10-year-old boy was fined PKR 700,000 by a tribal court (jirga) after he was convicted of having an 'extra-marital affair' with a girl.
How can you have an extra-marital affair without being married?
The youngster was reportedly tried by the tribal court after his alleged affair with the girl between two communities known as Bakhrani and Banglani.
Perhaps the boy had early puberty. I understand that's common in the Moslem world, especially among girls. Particularly the pretty ones.
According to a report by Pakistain's Dawn News, the trial of the youngster, identified as Taimoor Banglani, was held in in bustling Nihal Bakhrani village near Tangwani town of Kandhkot-Kashmore district.
The article doesn't mention the age of the brazen hussy involved. I'm guessing eleven or twelve--the Older Woman thing, y'know. But I'll bet she has the body of a nine-year-old.
Headed by a tribal elder, Jehangir Banglani, the special tribunal convicted the youngster of of having an extramarital affair with a girl belonging to a Bakhrani family.
They're part of the Barzini clan. Barzinis and Tataglias don't mix. Everybody knows that.
The penalty was awarded after the tribal elder, along with his aides, heard arguments from both sides following the submission of the issue by the aggrieved side to the special tribunal.
There's speculation that even if Bakhrani and Banglani did mix any offspring would be sterile, but that might just be the polio vaccine.
The Banglani family was ordered to pay a fine of Rs700,000, the report said, adding that the guilty side paid Rs50,000 on the spot and undertook to pay off the remaining fine money within three months.

Red Arch aka Desmond Tutu blames other nations for Omar al-Bashir debacle
[Afritime.com] Archbishop Desmond Tutu said Tuesday that some of the most powerful nations' refusal to comply with the International Criminal Court had created an environment for South Africa to allow Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir into, and out of, the country.
National sovereignty, the rule of law, international borders, all outmoded colonial concepts right Desmond ?
"These powerful nations have created the rationale for the South African government to allow al-Bashir into the country despite the international warrant of arrest hanging over his head, and then to allow him to travel home despite a South African High Court order to the contrary," said a statement issued by his foundation.

It did not name any of the "powerful nations" referred to in his statement.
Let me guess....
Bashir, who is wanted by the ICC for genocide and crimes against humanity in Darfur, arrived in South Africa on Saturday to attend an African Union summit, prompting a court bid by a rights group to have him arrested.

The Sudanese leader flew back out of South Africa on Monday, before the end of an African leaders' meeting, despite an earlier ruling blocking him from leaving.

Archbishop Tutu argued that allowing Bashir in spoke volumes about South Africa's moral fabric, as it had on three occasions denied entry to the Dalai Lama.

"In a moral world, Al-Bashir would have the opportunity to defend himself in a court to which all nations should be equally accountable, regardless of their power," Tutu said.

The Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation in its statement said "if the world is to become a fairer, more compassionate, tolerant and peaceful place" it needed institutions like the ICC "to hold those who abuse power to account".

The respected clergyman spoke about the integrity of The Hague-based court, saying the world "needs a criminal court where all are held equally to account, regardless of their nation's wealth, geographic location or particular history."
'Respected'... by some possibly.
The ICC has often come under fire from African presidents who accuse it of targeting leaders from the continent.

The retired 83-year-old Tutu is regarded as South Africa's voice of reason and often speaks out against the failures of the post apartheid government led by the African National Congress (ANC).

Ukrainian offensive could begin Friday

The Ukrainian Army is expected to start offensive operations by Friday, say rebel political and military leaders.

According to several reports which appear on rebel media websites and on social media, although the total number of ceasefire violations has been reduced by about 25 percent, the totals are much higher than they have been since last fall, just before the first ceasefire, known as Minsk I.

Donetsk president Aleksandr Zakharcheko said in a published interview that his intelligence services expect a Ukrainian offensive to begin soon, and to follow much the same pattern as the disastrous one in August, 2014.

In that August, 2014 offensive, Ukrainian forces attempted an envelopment operation from two directions. One side -- the southern pincer -- became bogged down and then surrounded by rebel counterattacks near Ilovaisk, which is southeast of Donetsk city.

The other pincer operation, near Debaltsevo, also was stopped by rebel counterattacks, and until February, 2015, formed the Debaltsevo salient. The Debaltsevo salient was eliminated by rebel forces in February at a high cost for both sides in men and materiel.

According to Zakharchenko, Ukrainian forces are expected to strike at the borders of Donetsk and Lugansk, at a point just south of Artemovsk. Artemovsk sits on Highway E40/M03, and is the gateway to Slavyansk, which rebel forces were forced to withdraw from early last summer. Artemovsk is also a logistical center for Ukrainian forces in the north region held by the rebels.

"We know about it," claimed Zakharchenko.

A secondary operation is expected to begin around Volnovakha in western Donetsk halfway between Donetsk and Mariupol, which is on the coast of the Sea of Azov.

Donetsk ministry of defense spokesman, Eduard Basurin said in a press briefing on Tuesday that rebel intelligence services have found nine self propelled artillery vehicles in various locations, including two near Gorlovka, two near Artemovsk and one near Verhnetoretskoe. Regnum.ru said some of the self propelled artillery were heavy 2S5 152mm vehicles. BM-21 122mm rocket artillery vehicles were spotted near Novoalekseevka and Avdievka, apparently fueling rebel speculations about Ukrainian plans.

Ukrainian sources say rebels have been firing artillery on Ukrainian positions including at Shirokino and at Marinka, where 120mm mortar fire was directed against Ukrainian forces.

Rebel forces used small arms and crew served weapons against Ukrainian forces at Opytnoye and Peski, both of which are near western Donetsk city, as well as at Marinka.

A separate report at Shirokino said that rebels used 122mm artillery against Ukrainian forces as well as 120mm mortar fire.

Rebel media said that Ukrainian artillery fire hit targets in western Donetsk city a total of 75 times at Oktyabrskiy and Petrovskiy districts, and at the Donetsk airport Tuesday after a quiet Monday night to Tuesday morning.

Rebel media also said that Ukrainian artillery struck the city hall at Gorlovka Monday night, setting it and a residence afire.

China pushes Uighurs to give up fasting in Ramazan
[DAWN] Some local governments in China's unruly far western region of Xinjiang are stepping up controls on the Islamic faith followed by the Uighur people ahead of Ramazan, including making officials swear they will not fast.

The holy month, which begins this week, is a sensitive time in Xinjiang following an uptick in deadly attacks blamed by Beijing on Islamist snuffies over the past three years in which hundreds have died.

In recent days, state media and government websites in Xinjiang have published stories and official notices demanding that party members, civil servants, students and teachers in particular do not observe Ramazan, something that happened last year too.

Fed holds off on interest rate hike, downgrades economic forecast

#1  Downgrades "Unexpectedly" again.

Fed officials sharply downgraded their economic forecast for this year. They projected the economy would grow between 1.8% and 2% this year, well below the range of 2.3% to 2.7% in its last forecast in March.

If they’re correct, annual growth would be the worst since 2011 and would be far from the breakout performance some economists had hoped for this year.

With the EU looking more shaky, other economies looking like their bubbles are close to popping (I'm looking at you China), rampant debt and everyone printing funny money things will get really interesting when everything goes off at once.

#4  The "Debt Truth" committee of the Greek parliament just threw down a gauntlet:
Posted by: Anguper Hupomosing9418 || 06/17/2015 14:16 Comments || Top||

#5  Whoops - here are excerpts from the above report:
All the evidence we present in this report shows that Greece not only does not have the ability to pay this debt, but also should not pay this debt first and foremost because the debt emerging from the Troika’s arrangements is a direct infringement on the fundamental human rights of the residents of Greece. Hence, we came to the conclusion that Greece should not pay this debt because it is illegal, illegitimate, and odious... As far as unsustainable debt is concerned, every state is legally entitled to invoke necessity in exceptional situations in order to safeguard those essential interests threatened by a grave and imminent peril. In such a situation, the State may be dispensed from the fulfilment of those international obligations that augment the peril, as is the case with outstanding loan contracts. Finally, states have the right to declare themselves unilaterally insolvent where the servicing of their debt is unsustainable, in which case they commit no wrongful act and hence bear no liability.

People’s dignity is worth more than illegal, illegitimate, odious and unsustainable debt...Having concluded a preliminary investigation, the Committee considers that Greece has been and still is the victim of an attack premeditated and organized by the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank, and the European Commission. This violent, illegal, and immoral mission aimed exclusively at shifting private debt onto the public sector.

#6  Hey Greece, Borrowing might be a little tricky now.
So you're going to have to fund those "pensions" via tax, and all the taxes the left likes harm the economy which will mean less tax.
Whoops.

Boeing: Charleston, SC.
This video is one of the assembly line at Boeing in Charleston SC.

Six planes in various stages of completion are under the one roof. When completed the plane is towed to the paint shop. Boeing has a runway that connects with the Charleston airport. It is from here that the planes are delivered to customers. The 1,000th order was placed by Etihad Airways Nov 13 2013. The fuselage plant constructs 2 carbon fiber fuselages at a time not far from the main assembly plant.
