IRS Sent $7,319,518 in Refunds to One Bank Account Used by 2,706 Aliens
The Internal Revenue Service sent $7,319,518 in tax refunds in 2011 to what theoretically were 2,706 aliens who were not authorized to work inside the United States and who all used the same bank account, according to an audit report by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration.

Since 1996, the IRS has issued what it calls Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs) to two classes of persons: 1) non-resident aliens who have a tax liability in the United States, and 2) aliens living in the United States who are “not authorized to work in the United States.”

The 2,706 tax refunds worth a combined $7,319,518 that the IRS sent to a single bank account in 2011 were all paid on tax returns that used Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers.

Italy's Berlusconi found guilty of paying a minor for sex
[LATIMES] Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi
...former Italian prime minister, known for his plain (for a European politician) speaking and his liking for hookers a third his age or less...
was found guilty Monday of paying a minor for sex and of abuse of power in office. He was sentenced to seven years in jail and banned from public office for life.

After 50 hearings over two years, the media mogul and three-time prime minster was found guilty of paying Karima el Mahroug, a Moroccan-born dancer, for sex at his mansion outside Milan in 2010 when she was 17. Paying a minor for sex in Italia is illegal.

Berlusconi was also found guilty of using his post as prime minister to pressure police into releasing Mahroug into the care of one of his associates when the teenager was placed in durance vile
Please don't kill me!
on suspicion of theft that year, rather than allowing her to be placed under the supervision of local authorities.

During a series of phone calls to Milan police, Berlusconi allegedly suggested that Mahroug was a niece of then-Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak
...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011...

Despite the prison sentence, Berlusconi, 76, will remain free and be allowed to participate in politics while he appeals the verdict handed down by a panel of judges in Milan. Under Italia's three-tier legal system, he will be able to file two appeals against the sentence and will not serve any jail time until a final verdict is handed down by the Italian Supreme Court, which could take years.

Mummy statue locked in display case starts spinning
An ancient statue created as an offering to the Egyptian god of death has stumped the Manchester Museum in England after a time-lapse video taken over a week-long period shows the artifact slowly spinning.
I seen dis movie. It had Abbott and Costello in it.
The strange occurrence was first noticed by the statue's current caretaker, Campbell Price, who reset the relic back to its original direction after finding it askew, only to discover the statue returned to the wrong direction again the next day.

Egypt cancels 2010 land contract awarded to Bin Laden brother
[Al Ahram] The allocation of a government land contract to a company owned by the brother of the late the late Osama bin Laden
... who used to be alive but now he's not...
has been nullified, according to a recent report issued by Egypt's State Commissioners Authority.

The State Commissioners Authority is one of the levels through which cases in Egypt's administrative court system must pass. The authority, however, only has the authority to issue recommendations.

Khaled Ali, a former presidential candidate, and former MP Hamdi El-Fakharani had filed a lawsuit to demand the suspension of a contract awarded by Egypt's Tourism Development Authority to a tourism company owned by Omar Mohamed Awad, brother of slain Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

In 2010, Awad's Al-Noor Company for Tourism had obtained 145,000 square metres of land -- worth a total value of LE197 million (roughly $28 million) -- from the Egyptian government.

Saudi Arabia beheads Pakistanis for armed robbery
[Pak Daily Times] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
on Monday beheaded two Pak men convicted of armed robbery, the interior ministry said in a statement carried by the official SPA news agency. The execution in the western city of Jeddah came after the two men admitted to having set up a gang to rob bank customers at gunpoint, the report said. A total of 54 people have been executed in Saudi Arabia since the start of the year, according to an AFP count. In 2012, the Gulf country put 76 people to death, according to an AFP tally based on official figures. Human Rights Watch
... dedicated to bitching about human rights violations around the world...
has put the number at 69.

WH Climate Adviser: 'A War on Coal Is Exactly What’s Needed'
BY DANIEL HALPER

Daniel P. Schrag, a White House climate adviser and director of the Harvard University Center for the Environment, tells the New York Times "a war on coal is exactly what's needed." Later today, President Obama will give a major "climate change" address at Georgetown University.

“Everybody is waiting for action,” Schrag tells the paper. “The one thing the president really needs to do now is to begin the process of shutting down the conventional coal plants. Politically, the White House is hesitant to say they’re having a war on coal. On the other hand, a war on coal is exactly what’s needed.”

Obama's speech today is expected to offer "a sweeping plan to address climate change on Tuesday, setting ambitious goals and timetables for a series of executive actions to reduce greenhouse gas pollution and prepare the nation for the ravages of a warming planet," according to the Times. POTUS Georgetown speech.

Here's the full context of Schrag's quotation:
Daniel P. Schrag, a geochemist who is the head of Harvard University’s Center for the Environment and a member of a presidential science panel that has helped advise the White House on climate change, said he hoped the presidential speech would mark a turning point in the national debate on climate change.

When the left speaks of using "clean energy," they are not speaking of coal energy. Unfortunately, such decisions have far-reaching consequences. Utilities, the coal industry, the rail industry, and many manufacturing industries are affected negatively. Such decisions increase costs and prices and are job-killing. Of course, there is always the possibility that the unintended consequences are intended as no one could be that ignorant.

India to begin mass cremation of flood victims
[Pak Daily Times] Indian priests were preparing to cremate hundreds of flood victims on Monday as heavy rains halted the helicopter search for thousands of tourists stranded in the devastated Himalayan region, officials said.

Some 1,000 people were feared dead and more than 8,000 mainly pilgrims and tourists were still awaiting rescue nine days after flash floods and landslides hit the state of Uttarakhand.

So far 580 bodies have been found after torrential monsoon rains struck the mountainous region, known as the "Land of the Gods" for its revered Hindu shrines. "Many more bodies are yet to be pulled out from isolated areas that are completely cut-off," disaster management official K N Pandey told AFP.

Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde warned that the corpse count could rise above 1,000 once flood waters have receded and debris is cleared by emergency workers, showing the full extent of the disaster.

Old 'Satan' ballistic missiles should be converted into an anti-asteroid defence system
AN OLD ballistic missile system should be modified to defend Earth from asteroids, a Russian scientist says, citing a major explosion over the Urals earlier this year.

The Soviet-era SS-18 "Satan" heavy intercontinental ballistic missiles were ideal for conversion into a rapid-reaction anti-asteroid system, said senior rocket researcher Sabit Saitgarayev at the weekend.

Mr Saitgarayev, of the State Rocket Design Centre, pointed to the destructive power of the meteor which burst over the Russian Ural Mountains on February 15. The sonic boom of the airburst blew out windows and damaged thousands of buildings around the city of Chelyabinsk.

About 1200 people were injured. Some 50 were hospitalised.

NASA believed the space rock to have been some 15 metres in diameter.

Mr Saitgarayev said the old 1960s-era Soviet "Satan" missiles were ideally suited to such an interception role as they could be held ready for launch for up to 10 years.

McDonald's drops halal food from U.S. menu
There have been only two McDonald's restaurants in the U.S. that have offered halal food. Both were in east Dearborn, Mich., which has a sizable population of Arab-American Muslims.

But after a contentious lawsuit that accused the restaurant chain of selling non-halal items advertised as halal, McDonald's has yanked its Halal Chicken McNuggets and Halal McChicken sandwiches off the menu. The move brings to an end a unique product that made the two McDonald's restaurants popular with Muslims.

#3  I want Gunny Highway to look into this immediately. And close the door when you do.

I also want the entire platoon to get those FAB little earrings for their Left ears by tomorrow's muster..... or you ALL will definitely be " Manifestly UnSat ".

#6  I think they should have let all the "warriors for Allah" serving in the Armed Forces in on the march. Would have been an interesting show.

#10  I think our enemies are watching with great interest our celebration of Gay Pride in the military.

#12  So when will the celebrate Hetrosexuals in the Military? Why do LGBT need a special celebration just for them?

#13  Do they "Dance" Instead of "March"?

I can hear the Sergeant Major now, "Dance you
f***kers and MINCE when you sway.
