-Lurid Crime Tales-
Today's Idiot
Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives have tossed a beauzeau in the jug for stealing a car, crashing it into another, and breaking into the Grove City Fire Station.

The suspect stole a $4,000 fire engine radio scanner, broke into a Jeep and made free with its keys.
"They have lotsh of shcanners like it. They wont mish thish one."
Ryan James Gros, 33, was read his rights Thursday night.

The crime spree began when CCSO received a call at 5:00 a.m. Thursday morning reporting that Gros had left a party in Grove City with another person.

That person reportedly left Gros inside their vehicle while they returned to the party to retreive a forgotten item.
Oops...
Gros then drove off and struck a parked car alongside the roadway and continued driving while having had one over the eight.

At 3:00 p.m., deputies located the car three blocks from the Grove City Fire Station in the middle of the road. It had nothing left to fuel its motion.

Gros was run to earth around 7:00 p.m. and transported to the CCSO Englewood office for questioning.
"Ya got me fair and square, coppers."
He told deputies that he did not remember what happened due to having three sheets to the wind. He did say he remembered stopping at the fire station and somehow obtaining the scanner but he was unsure if he actually entered the fire station or took the radio from outside the station.

Gros has been booked for grand theft auto, burglary to a structure, burglary to a conveyance, grand theft, and petit theft.

#2  That would be Fred's automatic translating program, AlmostAnonymous5839. He instituted it as an option for submitted articles when he was under attack by that horrid Righthaven. If you click on Post Your Own Article at the too fo Page 1, you'll see the Translate button at the top right. If you highlight the article text and click on Translate, it will do so. I use it for all the articles I submit, so that Fred is covered in case another Righthaven appears, and because I like many of Fred's automatic in-lines, to which I add my own. Not everybody chooses to, though, including some of the moderators.

China-Japan-Koreas
Japan navy showcases warships amid spat with China
ABOARD THE JS YUDACHI: Japan’s navy marked its 60th anniversary
60th anniversary after being reconstituted from its defeat in WWII, they mean...
with a major exercise Sunday intended to show off its maritime strength. The display comes amid a tense territorial dispute with China. About 40 ships — including state-of-the-art destroyers, hovercraft able to launch assaults on rough coastlines and new conventionally powered submarines — took part in Fleet Review 2012, the maritime equivalent of a military parade. About 30 naval aircraft, mostly helicopters, also participated.

Japan’s navy was joined by warships from the United States, Singapore and Australia. Representatives from more than 20 countries, including China, also attended the event staged in waters south of Tokyo.

Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda, who watched aboard the destroyer JS Kurama, said Japan faces “severe” challenges to its security, though he did not specifically mention the dispute with Beijing over islands in the East China Sea.

Noda called on the sailors taking part in the exercise, which is held every three years but was expanded this year because of the 60th anniversary, to be prepared to face “new responsibilities” as the security situation around the country changes.

Japan’s navy — formally called the Maritime Self-Defense Force — is among the best-equipped and best-trained in the world. As part of a post-World War II mutual defense pact, Japan also hosts the US 7th Fleet, which includes the USS George Washington aircraft carrier battle group.

But Tokyo has been alarmed in recent years by the rise of neighboring China’s naval forces, which some strategists say could upset the regional status quo and erode Japan’s ability to credibly deter challenges to the freedom of key sea lanes.

Concerns over a growing assertiveness in China’s foreign policy, meanwhile, have further fueled calls for Tokyo to beef up its military defenses. Such fears have escalated this year amid the two countries’ rival claims to the disputed islands, called Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China. The islands are small and uninhabited, but are surrounded by rich fishing grounds and possibly lucrative reserves of natural gas.

Largely in response, Japan is strengthening its naval fleet by acquiring amphibious landing craft and is also mulling the purchase of unmanned drones to improve its offshore surveillance capabilities.

#10  BHARAT RAKSHAK > CHINA'S POSTURING KEEPS THE WORLD GUESSING - "THE HINDU" BUSINESS LINE.

Yuuupp.

Again, China's history is that it will keep sending out Diplomatic, Media peace feelers, or in altern seemingly do nothing - come one day, it will suddenly open fire on the JSDF either at sea or on the disputed islands, etc. It will blame Japan wholly for ignoring or bashing China's interests + peace-minded initiatives.

ARTIC = ...
- 30% of US foreign affairs experts believe China's rise is no threat to the US.
- As MAHANISM declines in the US, China seemingly increasingly adopts it.
- CHINA'S PEOPLE BELIEVE ITS TIME HAS COME.
- China's behavior fits neatly vee the writings or precepts of historian Paul Kennedy.

versus

* WAFF > JAPAN'S COLD WAR NAVY.

ARTIC = Japan's "defensive" orientation as an "Escort Navy" vee the balanced "offensive andor "defensive" USN may be its ultimate mil or combat disadvantage vee the simil "balanced" Chinese PLAN and by extension the PLA in general. Japan's MSDF has only five logistics support vessels it can use for sustained operations agz the PLAN near the disputed Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands, and while China has only one new ex-Soviet CV its Surface Warfare, Submarine, + Supply fleets are more diversified than Japan's.

Montenegro rulers set to keep power in election
But I think we all saw this coming...
PODGORICA: Montenegrins voted in a parliamentary election on Sunday that could extend the 23-year hold on power for the ruling party and its leader, Milo Djukanovic, despite economic stagnation and widespread accusations of high-level corruption.

The winner will oversee the ex-Yugoslav republic’s talks on joining the European Union. After Croatia, due to join next July, Montenegro is the only Balkan state that could become an EU member by the end of this decade.

Djukanovic’s Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) remains popular despite economic woes for having championed the independence of the country of 680,000 people six years ago from a rump Yugoslavia union with Serbia. A victory would return to power the 50-year old Djukanovic, prime minister or president for all but two years in the last two decades. Italian prosecutors had accused him of involvement in massive cigarette smuggling during Yugoslavia’s international isolation in the 1990s but he was cleared of all charges.

Looking confident and upbeat after casting his ballot in downtown Podgorica, the capital, Djukanovic said he was “calm and optimistic” about the outcome of the election.

“Tomorrow we will talk about who will do what to contribute to the best interest of Montenegro,” he told reporters.

He also dismissed the corruption allegations levelled by the opposition: “T h ey have been aiming at the same target for two decades, and every time it ended in a fiasco.”

Opinion polls suggest a DPS-dominated alliance was likely to win 47 percent of the vote, versus 24 percent for its nearest rival, the Democratic Front opposition alliance.
The DPS’s credentials have been further bolstered by the EU’s decision to open accession talks in June.

“They are more experienced and more serious than others and I hope they will bring us prosperity,” said retiree Dimitrije Mitrovic, 62, who voted for the DPS.

The only question was whether the ruling party would need the support of parliamentary deputies from ethnic minority parties to form a government, said Zlatko Vujovic of CEMI, a non-government group that will monitor the ballot.

Official's son 'goes missing': Anti-polio drive in jeopardy
[Dawn] Two days ahead of the launch of a three-day nationwide polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set...
vaccination campaign, set to begin on Oct 15, area supervisors of the drive in Gulberg Town have threatened to boycott all anti-polio activities if the son of one of their colleagues was not recovered soon.

A number of women health workers and official vaccinators as well as area supervisors who had gathered at an official inauguration of the national immunisation days activities at the Gulberg Town health office on Saturday expressed concern
...meaning the brow was mildly wrinkled, the eyebrows drawn slightly together, and a thoughtful expression assumed, not that anything was actually done or indeed that any thought was actually expended...
over the news that a 12-year-old son of an area supervisor had been missing since Friday night from UC-8 (Shafiq Mills area) of
Gulberg Town.

They demanded that the law-enforcement agencies and district administration look into the kidnapping and security matters of polio workers, otherwise they would not carry out the campaign in Gulberg Town.

The anti-polio campaign is scheduled to run from Oct 15 to 17 and about 2.28 million children up to five years of age, including 0.93 million living in Gulberg Town, are likely to be covered across the city during the immunisation days. Under the campaign plan, 52 area heads are supposed to oversee the field work by 277 mobile, fixed and transient teams in the town.

Asifa Asad, the mother of the missing boy and a Gavi-vaccinator working at a government dispensary in UC-8, told newsmen and provincial health minister Dr Sagheer Ahmad, who was also the chief guest at the inauguration, that her son (Zainul Abideen) had gone out to purchase bread at around 8pm on Friday, but never returned home and police had failed to find him.

She linked the abduction of her son to her association with the poliovirus eradication activities and said that since she took over as an area supervisor a couple of months back, she had been warned against carrying out such activities "as these have ulterior motives" and screening out the households and families living there at the behest of foreign intelligence agencies.

Ms Asad said she had been living peacefully in the UC for the past many years, but had started running into trouble after she was assigned as the role of area supervisor.

Anti-polio activities, which remained peaceful during the years, have been haunted by terrorism in the city for the past four months or so.

A three-day anti-polio campaign under the sub-national immunisation days could not be run in UC-8 of Gulberg Town due to inadequate security arrangements for polio staff in September as well, said a district health official.

The health minister, however, asked deputy commissioner, central, Dr Saifur Rehman, who was present on the occasion, to make all-out efforts to address concerns of the missing boy's mother and other polio supervisors' at the earliest and ensure a smooth conduct of polio vaccination.

He said it was the result of efforts of all stakeholders that the number of new confirmed polio cases was smaller than that of previous years. This year, he said, Sindh had reported only four cases and a few more quality campaigns could help eradicate the poliovirus from the province.

The minister said about 7.4 million children would be reached by about 21,342 vaccinators and volunteers across the province.

Member of the National Assembly Sufian Yousuf, provincial minister Khalid Bin Wilayat, MPA Imamuddin Shahzad, secretary of the health department Aftab Khatri, special secretary for health Dr Suresh Kumar and EDO for health Dr Imdadullah Siddiqui were also present when the health minister administered anti-polio drops to about a dozen children.

Jirga orders handover of two girls as Wani
[Dawn] A large number of people held a demonstration outside the press club on Saturday in protest against the decision by a jirga on marriage of two minor girls under the wani custom.

A local wadera (chieftain), Peeral Chachar, presided over the jirga and gave away the girls as wani to settle a matrimonial dispute.

Shah Mohammad Chachar and Ms Hayatan, both residents of Gaji Chachar village of Pano Akil taluka, had married against the will of their parents some months ago.

The marriage caused a dispute among the two families. The family of Hayatan solicited a jirga, which was held in Rehmat Chachar village on Thursday night.

The chieftain declared Shah Mohammad as karo and Hayatan as kari for their free-will marriage.

He also imposed a fine of Rs400,000 and ordered handing over of 10-year-old Allah Diwai and six-year-old Sassui, daughters of Allah Dino Chachar.

Both the girls are nieces of Shah Mohammad and should marry brothers of Hayatan.

The chieftain forcibly solemnised nikah of Allah Diwai with 10-year-old Shaman, a brother of Hayatan. The girl will leave her parents' home after four years--when she will be 14.

The chieftain decided nikah of Sassui would take place when she would attain the age of 10 years.

The father of the two girls protested against the verdict and said he was ready to pay the fine as penalty, but would never give away daughters as wani.

The sources said the chieftain rejected his appeal and forcibly solemnised nikah.Relatives of Allah Dino gathered outside the press club and protested against the exchange of minor girls.

They called upon police to provide them protection and cancel the verdict.

Although holding of a jirga, declaring karo-kari, exchange of women as wani and marriage of minor girls are all illegal acts under the law of the land, the authorities concerned looked the other way when the four offences took place.

#5  #2 The train which has not yet arrived the station is the linkage that will soon be made between ObamaCare and firearms ownership.

Several years ago, prior to Obamacare, I recall the CDC calling firearms deaths an epidemic.

#6  Does Corry Booker carry or have a firearm? Is it legal? Turn him in just to check to see if it is legal. How would anyone know whether or not their neighbor had and "Illegal" gun? What is an illegal gun in New Jersey? Is the 2nd Amendment different in New Jersey (sarc) than other States?

#10  It is not the business of doctors to ask me about firearms. I will seek out NRA-affiliated doctors. I will screen my doctors prior to visiting them to see if they believe in the 2nd Amendment. If they do not, I will seek another doctor. Word will get around among gun owners of the doctors who believe in the Bill of Rights and specifically the 2nd Amendment.

#13  Gun "control" is on the agenda of the Progressives. Control is the operative word for them. This is what all would-be dictators are about--only some are supposed to have firearms. That is only only who the rulers choose to have firearms to further control.

People kill each other with automobiles, bowling balls, baseball bats, clubs, bows, spearguns, rocks, knives, their hands, ashtrays, lamps, ropes, poison, gas, explosives, fire, and whatever else is handy. It has to be concluded that it is not the object but the person who has murderous intents. Going after the object of murder is both silly, stupid, and futile.

#14  Does the offer comes with a free Obama cell phone too? Another thought - how many calls is this tip line going to get from people who are just plain old po'd with their neighbors?

#15  We should ban swimming pools!

After all, many more children drown each year than are shot.

For that matter, maybe we'd better ban bathtubs, too. And knives. And cars. My God, over 40,000 people each year are killed by cars! It's a massacre!

#16  It is not the business of doctors to ask me about firearms.

I believe the reply - Doctor heal thy self is appropriate given that Medical Errors Cause of 200,000 Hospital Deaths Each Year which is about 10 times the number of murders.

#17  Will charges be laid if one has a gun or will it just be taken away? If the latter, both you and your neighbour should each buy a hundred guns for a few hundred bucks each and then turn each other in. Could make a nice tax free income that way.

#18  Chemist, it looks like people will be arrested. They don't have to be convicted for you to get the money.

I do wonder if this only applies to pistols, or are long guns included.
Posted by: Rambler in Virginia || 10/15/2012 15:29 Comments || Top||

#19  how do they confiscate those guns? They have no credible information other than:
"I saw him with it last night drinking beer. Unregistered? Yeah, sure, it is."

Would that get you a legal search warrant? I doubt it

Hypothetically... more along the lines of skinning him alive and tacking his hide on the wall as a warning to others.

Only hypothetically of course. Wouldn't want anything to really happen to him.

Nope.
