Grammy-nominated rapper 21 Savage arrested by ICE, faces deportation
(Reuters) - Grammy-nominated Atlanta-based rapper 21 Savage was arrested by U.S. immigration officials on Sunday, who said he was illegally in the country and a convicted felon.

The rapper, whose real name is Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, came to the United States from the UK as a teenager in 2005, overstaying his visa to settle in Atlanta, said Bryan Cox, a spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Cox said Abraham-Joseph, whose 21 Savage Facebook page shows several upcoming concerts, was in custody in Georgia and faced deportation proceedings in federal immigration courts.

He said Abraham-Joseph was convicted on felony drug charges in Georgia in 2014, and was arrested on Sunday as part of a targeted operation with the cooperation of local law enforcement.

The rapper’s lawyer, Dina LaPolt, did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters on Sunday, but told the entertainment publication Variety that Abraham-Joseph was a "role model" who was working on financial literacy programs aimed at helping underprivileged youth.

YouTube star Austin Jones pleads guilty to soliciting lewd photos from teen girls
[FOXNEWS] YouTube musician Austin Jones pleaded guilty to coercing six teenage girls into sending him sexually explicit photos, according to reports. He faces up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.

Jones, of Bloomington, Ill., was initially charged with two counts of production of child pornography.

Prosecutors said Jones solicited lewd photos and videos from 14- and 15-year-old girls from August 2016 to May 2017 through Facebook. He tried to solicit photos and videos from 30 other girls before he was arrested, authorizes believe.

Jones admitted requesting and receiving videos, FOX 32 in Chicago reported. He allegedly told the victims that he was giving them modeling opportunities that required them to strip for him.
And they believed him, of course.

McDonald’s customer calls police after employee put onions on his Big Mac, gets arrested
[FOXNEWS] A McDonald’s customer was locked away
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
after calling police to complain about his Big Mac hamburger having onions ‐ and challenging the restaurant’s manager to a fist fight.

Leslie McDonagh, 53, was visiting the fast food chain in Manchester, England, around 10:30 p.m. on a Friday when he claims he received the "wrong meal" that he could not eat because of a "severe allergy" to onions, Metro reported.

According to Metro, McDonagh, who had
[Surprise!]
been drinking prior to visiting the McDonald’s, threatened to fight the manager before calling 911 to report the mixed-up meal.

The incident began to escalate when police arrived and asked McDonagh to leave the restaurant. McDonagh reportedly fell to the floor and grabbed a police officer’s leg as they attempted to stand him up, police shared. McDonagh also spit in an officer’s face while they were taking him off the premises.

Police, volunteers search Vegas Strip for human trafficking victims
[KTNV] Las Vegas police and dozens of volunteers hit the famous Las Vegas Strip to search for victims of human sex trafficking Friday night.

The most famous street in the world attracts visitors by the thousands every night but on a Super Bowl weekend that number is easily 300,000 according to Las Vegas Metro Police.

All of those visitors also means another element shows up -- human sex trafficking.

"We've got well over 100 folks here," said Las Vegas Police Capt. John Pelletier, while speaking to a group of police volunteers.

The volunteers got their marching orders just after 8 p.m. to begin searching the shadows and handing out fliers containing the pictures of missing children.

"The trafficking on the Super Bowl in every city is now red flagged, all of the traffickers know this," said Annie Lobert, who escaped human sex trafficking.

Lobert used to work the strip until she was able to escape.

She founded Hookers for Jesus and Destiny House.

"You are always on edge, so to leave you have to risk your life anyway," said Lobert.

"Most of the time, when these girls leave and the traffickers know they're leaving they will hunt them down and they will beat them almost to death," added Lobert.

Lobert said it is the threat and the fear that keep so many in the shadows.

#1  You shut down bootlegging by legalizing, regulating, and taxing alcohol. You shut down the numbers racket by legalizing, regulating and taxing the game. SCOTUS embraced 'between consenting adults' but left open the policing of 'commerce' between consenting adults. However, the real matriarchy still clings to its power over sex by banning competition. Made sense over a hundred years ago, when there were no welfare systems to protect and raise a family. You married and you took the financial obligations that came with it. The monopoly was granted for sex only in the married bedroom. However, in the intervening years, you've destroyed the institution of marriage. You have serial marriages, not quite yet concurrent, but that's being worked on as we type. You subsidized out of wedlock births and get more of them as a result. You validate child support to men who, by DNA are not the fathers, thus become accessories after the fact to bearing false witness.

You want to shut down the exploitation and seediness with this problem (as with bootlegging and the numbers racket), then legalize it, regulate it, tax it. However, the matriarchy and its minions will fight you every step of the way. The Venn Diagram of socialists who praise European culture, will somehow exclude how the Euros (and elsewhere) address commercial sex.

Technical note; yes its is legal in certain parts of Nevada, but not Clark County, Las Vegas.

Bomb de terre: WWI grenade found in French potato shipment
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A German World War I hand grenade was found among a shipment of French potatoes imported for a Hong Kong crisp factory, police said.

The device was safely detonated after it was discovered at the Calbee snacks factory Saturday.

"The grenade was in an unstable condition because it has been previously discharged but failed to detonate," Superintendent Wilfred Wong Ho-hon told news hounds.

Police detonated it on site, Wong said, with a police video showing bomb disposal officers packing the grenade in a drainage channel at the factory before blowing it up.

The grenade was eight centimeters wide and weighed about one kilogram.

"All the information to date suggested that the grenade was imported from La Belle France together with the other potatoes," Wong said.

The grenade is believed to have been left in a trench during World War I and accidentally gathered up with potatoes planted a century later in the former battlefield.

"If it was covered in mud, the grenade was likely to have been left behind, dropped by soldiers there during the war, or left there after it was thrown," Hong Kong University military historian Dave Macri told the South China Morning Post.

"The ditch was then filled up and used as a growing field, and the explosive was tossed into the mix of harvested potatoes... and sent to Hong Kong."

Hong Kong police are used to dealing with old munitions, though more usually US bombs dropped on the city after it fell to the invading Japanese during World War II.

Last year the bomb disposal squad defused three large WWII bombs, two of which were found at a site in the busy Wanchai district where work was underway to build a new metro railway station.

Unwent kaboom! wartime bombs or grenades are frequently found by hikers or construction workers in the southern Chinese city, which was the scene of fierce fighting between Japanese and British allied forces in 1941.

Los Angeles Is Dealing With A Deadly, Flea-Borne Typhus Outbreak
[Daily Wire] The city of Los Angeles is suffering from an outbreak of a "middle ages" and "pioneer days" disease ‐typhus ‐ typically found in homeless populations.

The outbreak began in October, according to CNN, with 57 cases of the flea- and flea feces-borne disease in downtown Los Angeles, not typically a hotbed of rare diseases. That was up from around 6 cases over the summer, all found in people "experiencing homelessness."

According to L.A. public health officials, there were more than 120 reported cases of typhus in 2018, and that number is increasing steadily in the first months of 2019.

A local NBC affiliate says city officials assumed that the disease would remain largely within the homeless population, but lately, cases of typhus have been cropping up among an unexpected group of people: city officials.

"It felt like somebody was driving railroad stakes through my eyes and out the back of my neck," Deputy City Attorney Liz Greenwood told Local 4 news. "Who gets typhus? It's a medieval disease that's caused by trash."

Greenwood speculates that she got typhus fever from fleas riding on the rats that occasionally infest Los Angeles city buildings. Those fleas get their typhus from piles of garbage surrounding homeless encampments throughout the city.

"There are rats in City Hall and City Hall East," Greenwood told NBC. "There are enormous rats and their tails are as long as their bodies."

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, who recently announced he would not pursue a presidential campaign in 2020, has been trying to control the typhus epidemic largely by allocating funds for trash cleanup, particularly in areas where homeless people gather to live for extended periods of time, including the city's famous Skid Row.

#1  This is the engine for the Mars rockets and Moon rockets and mining ones.
Starship once known at the BFR.
31 or more on first stage.
7 or more on second stage.

“Engine use methaox torch igniters. Green tinge is either camera saturation or a tiny bit of copper from the chamber.”
These Raptor engines are designed to run up to 2000 kN compared with 845 kN for the current Merlin 1D at sea level. It will take a while before they are qualified to run at that thrust. So 2.36x the Merlin thrust.

Later Raptor versions will run at 2500 kN so nearly 3x the Merlin thrust.

Full Flow Staged combustion - only ever tested never flown

Spark ignition, can be started on ground, in flight, in space, and on Mars, and can relight whenever.

Highest thrust to weight of any engine.

Plans to upgrade it to highest chamber pressure ever.

And on top of all that it’s reusable.

WA State Sheriffs Will Not Enforce Gun Control Laws
[Get Zone] A growing number of rural sheriffs in Washington state are refusing to enforce a sweeping new gun control laws that place stiff requirements on residents buying and owning semiautomatic rifles.

"I think it’s a bad law, and I think it violates people’s rights," Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer told the Yakima Herald-Republic in an interview Monday. "This law will do nothing to stop crime or do anything to make our communities safer. But what it will do is make criminals out of our honest citizens."

"I’ve taken the position that as an elected official, I am not going to enforce that law," he told The Guardian.

Initiative 1639, a package of gun control laws that was approved by Washington voters in November, raises the age to buy semiautomatic rifles to 21 and requires enhanced background checks, safety training and a 10-day waiting period for semiautomatic rifle purchases.

Pentagon announces nearly 4,000 additional troops heading to US-Mexico border
[The Hill] Nearly 4,000 additional U.S. troops will be deployed to the southern border to assist Customs and Border Protection, the Pentagon announced Sunday.

According to a statement released by the Defense Department, 3,750 troops will head to the border for 90 days to aid in placing razor wire along the border, as well as with mobile surveillance operations. The deployment will bring the number of active-duty forces in the area supporting Customs and Border Protection to roughly 4,350.

Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan said last week that the department would send "several thousand" additional troops to the border, but declined to be more specific.

Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.), the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, chastised Shanahan last Thursday over the lack of transparency surrounding how many troops were being sent to the border.

The additional troop deployment comes amid a standoff between President Trump and congressional Democrats over funding for his desired wall along the southern border. The president has demand $5.7 billion for the structure, which Democrats have staunchly opposed. The stalemate triggered a partial government shutdown that lasted 35 days.

#1  I hope the POTUS State of The Union 'surprise announcement' is that he's reducing the 48 U.S.– Mexico border crossings and 330 ports of entry.

Along with that the establishment of army Forward Operating Bases (FOBS) along the border to augment law enforcement. Throughout history, most 'invasions' are dealt with by a soldier with a rifle. In this, a soldier facing south.

Just a few preliminary steps toward the declaration of a National Emergency. Who knows, perhaps the declaration of a National Emergency will become unnecessary.

Baltimore State's Attorney Will No Longer Prosecute Marijuana Possession Cases
[NPR.ORG] Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced she will no longer prosecute marijuana possession cases, regardless of amount or a person's prior criminal record.

In her announcement Tuesday, Mosby argued the move will improve police-community relations and allow the city to dedicate more time and resources to fighting violent crimes.

Her statement said, "Prosecuting these cases have no public safety value, disproportionately impacts communities of color and erodes public trust, and is a costly and counterproductive use of limited resources."

Instead of marijuana, Mosby asserted that resources should be used to police and prosecute Baltimore's growing homicide rate.

For the past three years, Baltimore residents have seen almost one killing per day. In 2018, there were 309 homicides.

Belgium to take in ex-I.Coast president Gbagbo: ministry
[CAPITALFM.CO.KE] Belgium has agreed to take in former Ivory Coast president Laurent Gbagbo
... Former President-for-Life of Ivory Coast from 2000 to 2011. Laurent lost to Alassane Ouattara in 2010 but his representtive tore up the results on the teevee and he refused to vacate the presidential palace. French troops assisted the Oattara forces in extricating him from his Fuhrerbunker...
following his acquittal at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, a foreign ministry front man told AFP Saturday.

"In response to a request from the International Criminal Court, Belgium has agreed to take in Laurent Gbagbo," said front man Karl Lagatie, who added that he did not know if the ex-president was already in Belgium.

"That is also part of the framework of our support for international criminal jurisdictions," he added.

The International Criminal Court finally freed Gbagbo on Friday after his shock acquittal last month on charges of crimes against humanity.

He and his aide Charles Ble Goude had been cleared on January 15 over the wave of violence after disputed elections in the west African nation in 2010.

But he was initially kept in jug after prosecutors argued that if released, he might not return for a retrial if January’s acquittal was overturned on appeal.

He was released on condition that he stay in the host state until the court decides whether to let an appeal trial go ahead.

Gbagbo was the first former head of state ever to stand trial at the ICC.

But when the sample came back last August, months late and badly damaged, Khan knew something was terribly wrong. Was the Chinese company trying to steal his technology?

The glass was a prototype for what Khan’s company, Akhan Semiconductor Inc., describes as a nearly indestructible smartphone screen. Khan’s innovation was figuring out how to coat one side of the glass with a microthin layer of artificial diamond. He hoped to license this technology to phone manufacturers, which could use it to develop an entirely new, superdurable generation of electronics. Akhan says Miraj Diamond Glass, as the product is known, is 6 times stronger and 10 times more scratch-resistant than Gorilla Glass, the industry standard that generates about $3 billion in annual sales for Corning Inc. "Lighter, thinner, faster, stronger," says Khan, in full sales mode. Miraj, he promises, will lead to a "fundamental next level in design."

Like all inventors, Khan was paranoid about knockoffs. Even so, he was caught by surprise when Huawei, a potential customer, began to behave suspiciously after receiving the meticulously packed sample. Khan was more surprised when the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation drafted him and Akhan’s chief operations officer, Carl Shurboff, as participants in its investigation of Huawei. The FBI asked them to travel to Las Vegas and conduct a meeting with Huawei representatives at last month’s Consumer Electronics Show. Shurboff was outfitted with surveillance devices and recorded the conversation while a Bloomberg Businessweek reporter watched from safe distance.

The Grand Turk
Ankara offers $5bn credit for Turkish companies rebuilding Iraq
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
is looking to boost its trade ties and investments in Iraq, planning billions in loans and high profile visits.

"We will provide $5 billion in credit" for Ottoman Turkish businesses working in Iraq, Ottoman Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in a municipal meeting in Istanbul on Sunday, Anadolu Agency reported.

The loan is to fund reconstruction of Iraq, which needs an estimated $88 billion to rebuild after the war with ISIS.

Cavusoglu said Ankara also wants to increase its trade with the neighbour.

Noting that trade between them decreased during the early years of war with ISIS, 2014 to 2016, he said the trend was reversed in 2017 and trade has continued to grow. He expects trade volume will reach over $12 billion in the next few years.

Cavusoglu will pay a visit to Baghdad and Erbil in the coming days ‐ though he did not specify a date ‐ and President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
is expected to visit Iraq sometime after the March 31 elections.

5 including husband arrested for murder of public prosecutor in Hafizabad
[DAWN] Hafizabad District Police Officer (DPO) Sajid Kiani on Sunday announced the arrest of five suspects including the husband of public prosecutor Naila Amjad, who was rubbed out on January 11 in front of her house.

DPO Kiani said a special investigative team comprising sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Saddar Circle Mohammad Khalid, Station House Officer (SHO) City Ijaz Ahmed Butt, in charge Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Ahad Hassan Tarar, Sub-Inspector Hafiz Ahmed Jamal and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Badar Munir, had been formed to investigate the murder of Naila Amjad.

Assistant District Public Prosecutor Naila Amjad was rubbed out in front of her house on January 11 in Hafizabad, said Kiani.

Earlier, police said Amjad would routinely visit a gym along with her husband Muhammad Zaman, a teacher at a private school. On the day of the incident, as the couple left the house, Zaman went to an adjacent street to bring his car when two motorcyclists shot at her and escaped.

Critically injured Amjad breathed her last while being shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Hafizabad where doctors later conducted an autopsy of the body.

Police registered a case against two unidentified suspects under Sections 302 and 34 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the complaint of Sajid Ali Awan, the brother of the deceased.

DPO Kiani today said evidence was collected from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency's (PFSA) crime scene unit and through the use of modern technology the crime was investigated. Kiani added that he would supervise developments in the case on a daily basis.

As per the DPO, Amjad's husband was taken into custody on the basis of substantial evidence. During the initial investigation, Zaman confessed to the murder and added that he had hired professional hitmen named Rizwan and Javed with the help of his brother Ali Raza and a cousin Tahir alias Baga. He added that he had paid the hitmen Rs0.2 million for completing the job.

According to Kiani, the suspects had run away to other provinces where they were traced with the help of advanced technology. He added that Zaman, the main suspect, was an IT expert and had been planning the murder for six months — thinking of a way as to not leave any evidence.

Iraq
Venezuelan amb. to Iraq supports Guaido as country’s leader, renounces Maduro
Safely far enough away, and with at least his immediate family with him, he chose to rise up on his hind legs and declare himself.
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) ‐ Venezuelan Ambassador to Iraq Jonathan Velasco Ramirez has announced his support for the head of the Venezuelan National Assembly Juan Guaido as the country’s leader.

In a video message which was circulated on social media, Ramirez said that supporting Guaido "is our obligation, duty and constitutional responsibility."

"Mr. President, Guaido, you are on the right side of history, the people and the Constitution, which is why we place you at the service of the State, which you constitutionally represent and direct," the Daily Mail quoted Ramirez as saying.

The envoy further called on the Venezuelan army to remove sitting president Nicolas Maduro
Venezuela's attempt at producing a Muammar Qadaffy...
from power.

"Maduro and his clan of usurpers overcame a barrier that breaks the permissible limit of being a State official and another accomplice of a usurper, despotic, autocratic and dictatorial government," he said.

"Brothers of the Armed Forces, do not allow them to turn you into an army of mercenaries who kill the people," he concluded.

The Venezuela presidential crisis escalated after Guaido proclaimed himself as interim president. The U.S. and several of its allies immediately recognized Guaido as legitimate interim president.

Russia, along with Mexico, Uruguay, China, Iran and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
and other states were among the countries that have voiced their support for Maduro as the only legitimate leader.

Major DNA Testing Company Sharing Genetic Data With the FBI
h/t Instapundit
[Bloomberg] The decision by a prominent consumer DNA-testing company to share data with federal law enforcement means investigators have access to genetic information linked to hundreds of millions of people.

FamilyTreeDNA, an early pioneer of the rapidly growing market for consumer genetic testing, confirmed late Thursday that it has granted the Federal Bureau of Investigation access to its vast trove of nearly 2 million genetic profiles. The arrangement was first reported by BuzzFeed News.

Concerns about unfettered access to genetic information gathered by testing companies have swelled since April, when police used a genealogy website to ensnare a suspect in the decades-old case of the Golden State Killer. But that site, GEDmatch, was open-source, meaning police were able to upload crime-scene DNA data to the site without permission. The latest arrangement marks the first time a commercial testing company has voluntarily given law enforcement access to user data.
Personally, I'm not worried because FBI demonstrated - especially in recent years - that it's completely trustworthy and totally apolitical.

De Blasio's empty boasts about graduation rates
h/t Instapundit
[NYPost] Mayor Bill de Blasio and Chancellor Richard Carranza crowed Wednesday about the city’s record high school graduation rates, but they might as well have been bragging about getting water to run downhill.

Higher rates are what you’d expect, when the State Education Department and Board of Regents have spent years making it easier to graduate.

And when schools can use bogus "credit recovery" programs and change student grades to increase their number of grads ‐ since the only time these schemes get exposed is when The Post does it.

Yes, the latest SED data show that 75.9 percent of all kids who started at a New York City public high school in 2014 graduated last year, and the city reports that two thirds of those meet CUNY’s standards for college readiness. But that’s a jump from 51 percent to 67 percent college-ready among graduates in just two years, after years of minimal change. It looks more like the result of CUNY lowering its standards than anything Team de Blasio’s done.
They live in a world where appearances are everything and reality is nothing - no wonder Western "Elites" are so in love with Islam!
...As an SED spokesperson put it, "We know the graduation rate could be even higher if students were given the option to demonstrate their proficiency in meeting standards in multiple ways." Right: With enough ways to "demonstrate proficiency," the kids won’t even need to go to school to graduate.
Unless they happen to be Asians
De Blasio had the gall to claim that rising graduation rates show that "mayoral control of education works." Clearly, his own schooling failed to instill a sense of shame.

Just Wonderful.

#2  I watch for the commercials — usually there are loads that are memorable. This year the only one that really resonated was the one for the NFL itself, when all the champions over the years were gleefully charging at the game ball during the formal celebratory dinner, super-competitive sods that they are.

#7  +1 on Ms. Knight's performance.
-1 on the commercials.

In olden days, I'd see the Clysdales in either patriotic or heart-warming commercials that were just wonderful. This year we pan out showing the Clysdales on a windy road and the theme of the ad was Bud was now brewed using wind power. Really? If that wasn't bad enough, the next one (forgot who) was touting that the beer was organic. Several were featuring not being made with corn syrup.

What a bunch of snowflake, millennial crap.

#10  Warthog,
Buddy and I caught the 4th quarter, 'cuz we had obligations and things just don't do things themselves.

We had a game - two games really - one, guess the penalty before the ball is snapped.

Second, name the commercial. That one with the cute little windmills, no gigantic concrete foot, no wake turbulence...winner was, 'Horses Breaking Wind'.

#11  I like watching football. I always have. It wasn't always as political as it is now. I wish they could get back to just playing football and take the politics somewhere else. I think a high school marching band would have been better for halftime than that singer with his girlie voice and all the tattoos.
