Afghanistan
Taliban react to photos of Afghan forces published by KIB’s Syrian wing
[KhaamaPress] The Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
group reacted to photos which the Syrian Wing of Katibat Imam al-Bukhari (KIB), an Uzbek Jihadist group loyal to Taliban, recently published.

Zabiullah Mujahid, a spokesperson for the Taliban group, blamed the anti-peace circles for propagating by publishing such photos.

"These images have been stolen from our archive & falsified by anti-peace circles for propaganda!!!" he said in a Twitter post.

Yesterday, FDD’s Long War Journal reported on new images released by the Afghanistan branch of Katibat Imam al-Bukhari (KIB), an Uzbek jihadist group loyal to the Taliban that fights under its banner, according to Long War Journal.

According to the Tabloid, the photos in question were originally posted on Telegram by the overall emir of KIB’s Syrian wing, Abu Yusuf al-Muhajir. KIB’s channels are routinely banned on the platform. But Muhajir’s channel is relatively stable and he has taken on the task of publishing the group’s media from both Syria and Afghanistan.

Tolo News has more:
Uzbek Militant Group Claims it Conducted Operation with Taliban

An Uzbek Death Eater group, Khatiba Imam al-Bukhari (KIB), with the release of two pictures has claimed that in a joint operation with the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
they captured several members of a public uprising force somewhere in Afghanistan.

Although the group has not said anything about the date and the location of the joint operation, the Long War Journal website has said that the KIB affiliates are operating in Afghanistan’s Jawzjan and Faryab provinces.
Good to know.
"Earlier today, the Uzbek jihadist group, Khatiba Imam al-Bukhari (KIB), released two photos from its Afghanistan branch. The photos detail the capture of several pro-government Afghan Lions of Islam after a claimed joint attack with Taliban soldiers," the website wrote on Wednesday.

"Since 2016, KIB has sporadically released propaganda from its Afghanistan wing. That year, the group released two videos from the northern part of the country depicting training camps for both general indoctrination and lessons on the manufacturing of IED’s, along with combat footage," the website said.

In 2018, the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
Security Council also confirmed the presence of the group in Afghanistan. But the Taliban has always denied any link with the group.
“Wudn’t us.”
"Khatiba Imam al-Bukhari (KIB) was established in 2011 in the Afghanistan/Pakistain border area by fighters who had split from the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (QDe.010).
Splitters!
Since March 2015, the group has been actively collaborating with Jabhat al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
h, listed as al-Nusrah Front for the People of the Levant and its successor gangs," the UNSC said in a statement in 2018.

"KIB leaders view Afghanistan as a new staging ground to project attacks against neighboring Central Asia countries. Since 2016, KIB fighters have been redeployed from the Syrian Arab Republic to the north of Afghanistan with a view to setting up training camps and organizing special terrorist training for new recruits," according to the UN.

"The ongoing festivities which are going on today in Qaisar, Qaramqol, Garezwan and Shereen Tagab--the same people (KIB) are leading these wars," said Naqibullah Fayeq, the governor of Faryab province.

According to the UN, KIB commands up to 500 foreign terrorist fighters, most of them are nationals of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and the Russian Federation, including Russian nationals originating from the North Caucasus region. KIB conducted recruitment mainly among nationals of Uzbekistan, including through social networks.

"The foreigners who operate in Badakhshan alongside the Taliban--they are the backbone of the Taliban’s war and they have come here from China, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan," said Abdullah Naji Nazari, a member of Badakhshan's provincial council.

"There are thirteen active terrorist groups among them Jaish-e-Mohammad
...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf banned the group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat...
and Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
," said Gul Mohammad Bedar, the deputy governor of Kunar province
... which is right down the road from Chitral. Kunar is Haqqani country.....
This comes few days after local officials in the eastern province of Kunar also said that foreign Death Eaters, among them members of Pakistain-based Lashkar-e-Taiba Death Eaters, are operating in the province.

Based on the US-Taliban peace agreement which was signed in Doha, the Taliban committed to cut ties with all foreign Death Eater groups including Al Qaeda.
And we are all so shocked that they lied.

Related: The Long War Journal report quoted above. Lots of links at the link to explore. I discovered that Jawzjan and Faryab provinces have large ethnic Uzbek populations.

According to experts, it is likely that the [Libyan] plane arrived in Caracas to transport gold from Venezuela, where the gold that is banned due to sanctions is transported and melted in Mali, Africa, and then reconfigured and resold.
Data from air navigation sites also showed that the same plane made a previous visit to Caracas on April 24th, and it is manufactured by "Sonnig International Private Jet", a secret company based in Fujairah in the UAE based. According to press reports, in recent years this company has turned into one of Haftar's arms suppliers in the eastern Libyan region.

Gold is mutable, oil is liquid[sic].
Poss exchange for Libyan oil credits traded for IR oil shipped to VZ on IR tankers. When SHTF and IR facilities are destroyed early they will have a secondary source of both oil and transport.

The Grand Turk
Turkey Escalates Threats to Leave NATO
[Wash Examiner] A Turkish official raised the possibility of the country leaving NATO, according to a Tuesday Reuters report.

Citing an already tenuous relationship with fellow member states, Turkish ambassador to France Ismail Hakki Musa questioned NATO's capabilities absent Turkey's involvement. "Imagine NATO without Turkey," he said. "You would have no NATO."

Turkey has pivoted away from the alliance in recent months. The country recently bought fighter jets from Russia, strengthening its ties with the longtime NATO competitor. Meanwhile, it has cracked down on domestic dissent, imprisoning a group of journalists last year and recently loosening protections for Uighur refugees from China.

Turkey's behavior has grave implications for the transatlantic alliance, experts say. "The main problem for Europe is Russia. The ambivalence of Turkey, with one foot in each camp, is the troubling factor," former EU ambassador to Turkey Marc Pierini said in January. He added that many believe "Turkey is pivoting away from the values it once said it was sharing with the European Union and the transatlantic alliance."

Other Turkish officials have floated the possibility of "cracks" opening in NATO. "Turkish national-security interests must be regarded as one of the primary issues for the U.S. and NATO," warned Ahmet Berat Conkar‐the deputy head of Turkey's delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and party associate of Turkish premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan‐late last year. "If this cannot be openly guaranteed and maintained by concrete action for Turkey, new cracks may open inside the NATO alliance."

Musa's comments came as relations between France and Turkey have soured over a naval controversy. In June, a French ship under NATO command in the Eastern Mediterranean attempted to investigate a Tanzanian cargo ship suspected of arms trafficking. Turkey responded by dispatching three escort ships that flashed their radars and armed their crews to harass the French ship.

French president Emmanuel Macron has questioned Turkey's commitment to NATO. Late last year he said "it is not possible" for Turkey to continue as a NATO member if it follows through on its recent Russians arms acquisitions.

Iraq
Advisor's killing deepens Iraqi leader's face-off with militias
[THEBAGHDADPOST] Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi talked tough after the killing of a high-profile analyst and government advisor, pledging to hunt down his assailants and curb the actions of gangs. But the face-off between the U.S.-friendly Iraqi leader and powerful Iran-backed militias whom his entourage privately blames for Monday’s murder of Hisham al-Hashemi indicates how difficult this will be.

A series of bold moves by Kadhimi in his first two months in office, including two unsuccessful arrest raids against militias, showed the limits of his power in the face of hostile groups with influence across state institutions, according to government officials, politicians and diplomats.

Kadhimi in May succeeded Adel Abdul Mahdi, during whose tenure Iraqi militias loyal to Iran’s theocratic government deepened their sway over Iraq’s politics and economy.

Top general slams Confederacy as 'an act of treason' and says the country needs to take 'hard look' at bases honoring its leaders
[Bus Insider] The top US military officer called the Confederacy "an act of rebellion," one that violated the Constitution and went "against the Stars and Stripes," as he addressed the topic of bases and statues named after Confederate leaders.

US Army Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, discussed Thursday the possibility of renaming the 10 US Army bases named after Confederate leaders, such as Fort Pickett and Fort Hood. He appeared to express support for renaming the bases but said any plan for change would require the utmost care to prevent political consequences.

"We've also got to take a hard look at the symbology, the symbols, things like the Confederate flags and statues and bases," Milley said during a House Armed Service Committee hearing, adding that he ordered a commission for the military to explore the possibility.

Milley estimated minorities make up 43% of the US military and that at least 20% of soldiers in the Army are African American.

"For those young soldiers that go on to a base, Fort Hood or Fort Bragg or wherever, named after a Confederate general, they can be reminded that that general fought for an institution of slavery that may have enslaved one of their ancestors," Milley said.

He said that when he was a young officer at Fort Bragg, he had a staff sergeant tell him "he went to work every day at a base that represented a guy who enslaved his grandparents."

Milley called the Confederacy "an act of rebellion," adding it "was an act of treason at the time against the Union, against the Stars and Stripes, against the US Constitution."

#17  When the Radical Republicans wanted Jefferson Davis and all the Confederate officers tried for treason. They were not traitors because they did not advocate for the overthrow of the United States Government nor did they conspire with a foreign entity to do so. Imprisoned for two years at Fort Monroe, Virginia, Davis was indicted for treason, but was never tried–the federal government feared that Davis would be able prove to a jury that the Southern secession of 1860 to 1861 was legal. Varina worked determinedly to secure his freedom, and in May 1867 Jefferson Davis was released on bail.
