Anti-Bouteflika strikes hit Algeria's schools, transport

Egypt's Sisi warns against dangers of protesting
[PULSE.NG] Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi warned Sunday against the dangers of protesting, in the wake of widespread demonstrations in Algeria and neighbouring Sudan.

Sisi, who regularly evokes political stability to draw foreign investment, said protesters elsewhere were "ruining" their countries.

The president fell short of naming the countries, although neighbouring Sudan has since December seen regular demonstrations against longtime ruler Omar al-Bashir
Head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself president-for-life. He has fallen out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it.
In Algeria, tens of thousands of people have rallied in recent weeks against ailing President Abdelaziz Bouteflika
... 10th president-for-life of Algeria. He was elected in 1999 and is currently on his third or fourth term. Maybe it's the fifth....
's bid for a fifth term in office.

"All this talk (of protests) comes at a price that people are required to pay," Sisi said in a televised address to a military gathering.

Egypt's president has overseen a crackdown on dissent, banning protests and jailing Islamists as well as liberal and secular activists.

A former general, Sisi came to power following mass demonstrations against the rule of his Islamist predecessor Mohammed Morsi in 2013.

The president has repeatedly criticised the Arab Spring uprisings of 2011, which in Egypt ended the rule of autocrat Hosni Mubarak
...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011...
"How are tourism or factories or trade supposed to get off the ground? Should we eat or should we say that we were busy protesting?" he said Sunday.

Egyptian authorities insist curbing freedoms -- including tightening internet controls -- are necessary to maintain stability and counter terrorism in the country.

Recently, rare calls for protest emerged on social media following a train crash at Cairo's central station that killed 22 people.

"Dozens were tossed in the calaboose
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
for calling for the protests online after the crash," rights lawyer Gamal Eid told AFP on Sunday.

Two Brit ISIS brides held with their 5 kids in Syria 'stripped of UK citizenship'
When one has a hammer, consequences can be a sheer pleasure to inflict on the thoroughly deserving.
[MIRROR.CO.UK] Two more jihadi brides being held with their children in Syrian refugee camps have been stripped of their British citizenship, it has been reported.

It comes as the row over Islamic State

runaway Shamima Begum continued following the death of her three-week-old son.

According to The Sunday Times, two women, who between them have five boys under the age of eight, had their UK nationality removed after marrying into a terror cell linked to the murder of western hostages.

The Home Office said it did not comment on individual cases.

A front man added: "Any decisions to deprive individuals of their citizenship are based on all available evidence and not taken lightly."

The paper quoted legal sources, naming the women as Reema Iqbal, 30, and her sister Zara, 28, whose parents are originally from Pakistain.

It reported that the sisters left for Syria in 2013.

Zara was heavily pregnant with her second child when she made the journey and later had a third, the paper said, while Reema has two sons, one of whom was born in Britannia.

Home Secretary Sajid Javid came under renewed scrutiny on Saturday for stripping Ms Begum of her UK citizenship after it emerged her baby son had died in a Syrian refugee camp.

Bosnia to bring back captured ISIS fighters from Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] Bosnia-Herzegovina is the latest country to agree to take back their nationals that have been captured inside Syria.

According to Bosnia’s Security Minister Dragan Mektic, two ISIS fighters from Bosnia-Herzegovina will be brought back from Syria.

fighters were not released, Mektic said in a statement on March 9th that the Bosnian nations had been fighting inside Syria for several years prior to their capture by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Officials said the two are expected to be transferred to Bosnia by the end of March.

They said one of the men went to Syria and joined in 2013. He married there and is now the father of two children.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan slams women's day rally over 'rude' behaviour
[PULSE.NG] Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
on Sunday lambasted participants of the International Women's Day march in Istanbul over what he described as "disrespect" during the Islamic call to prayer.

Police fired tear gas on Friday at thousands after authorities issued a statement banning any demonstration on the famous Istiklal avenue before the march, although the event has previously taken place peacefully.

In an unverified video that has since gone viral, women and men marching on Friday along the avenue continued chanting during the call to prayer.

"A group which came together in Taksim led by the (main opposition Republican People's Party) CHP and (pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party) HDP supposedly for women's day behaved rudely with whistling and chanting during the call to prayer," Erdogan said.

The avenue is close to Taksim square, a traditional rallying point.

Erdogan played a short clip of the video as well as footage of an opposition rally from 2011 where it was claimed the Ottoman Turkish flag could not be seen.

"(The opposition is) attacking our liberty and our future with this disrespect to our flag and our call to prayer," he said during a rally in the southern city of Adana.

The president has been holding daily rallies across the country and often slamming the opposition ahead of local elections on March 31. He has accused the CHP of being in an alliance with the HDP, which Erdogan says is a political front for Kurdish krazed killers.

Although polls suggest Erdogan's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) remains the biggest, there are fears the opposition may make larger gains as the economic slowdown and the weaker Ottoman Turkish lira impacts households.

Iraqi culture minister unveils statue of nationalist hero Umm Qusay
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) ‐ Iraqi Culture Minister Abdul Amir al-Hamdani has unveiled a statue of a nationalist hero, who sheltered a group of military cadets from the brutality of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. gunnies in 2014.

Addressing a ceremony held at the ministry’s arts exhibition on Sunday, the minister said that the bronze statue comes in recognition of the great sacrifice made by Aliyah Khalaf Saleh, known as Umm Qusay, who he said "set the best example of heroism when she protected a host of youth from Islamic State terrorists."

The statue is 80 centimeters high with a base of about 40 centimeter.

The 62-year-old was born in the Iraqi province of Salahuddin, near Tikrit. She was not afforded the opportunity to attend school and was married at the age of 13.

"ISIS (referring to Islamic State) killed my husband, son and my nephew in front of my eyes," she said.

Umm Qusay rescued over 20 cadets over a period of 17 days. She hid them, provided them with ID cards from the local university to hide their identities, and helped prepare their escape routes.

Iraq spares no effort to reduce impact of U.S. sanctions against Iran, says president
How clever of you, to be sure.
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) ‐ Iraqi President Barham Salih stressed on Sunday that his country will do its best to reduce the impact of U.S. sanctions against Iran.

"Let me tell you that Iraq will not become part of the US unilateral sanctions regime against Iran. There is no doubt that we will be affected by these sanctions, but it is certain that we will not be part of them," Press TV channel quoted Salih as saying at a presser.

"Iraq insists that the interests of our friendly and neighboring country must be met. We will do our best to reduce tensions in this regard and decrease the damage that will be done to the Iranian nation," he said.

US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
pulled America out of the Iran nuclear deal last May, reimposing sanctions on the regime and delivering on an election campaign promise.

The US president said the "defective" 2015 agreement would not stop Iran developing a nuclear bomb and signed a presidential memorandum enacting the US withdrawal.

Britannia, La Belle France and Germany condemned the move in a joint statement and promised to stay within the nuclear agreement claiming that it was the only way to prevent a Middle-Eastern nuclear arms race.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Netanyahu warns Hamas of ‘large-scale’ Gaza operation if unrest continues
[IsraelTimes] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is warning Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbung millipede, that Israel will not hesitate to launch a "large-scale operation" in Gazoo, as daily exchanges with terrorist groups in Paleostinian territory are threatening a wider escalation.

Speaking ahead of the weekly cabinet meeting, Netanyahu notes that while "rogue factions" were behind the recent Gazoo "provocations," it "did not exempt Hamas," the enclave’s Islamist rulers, from responsibility.

"I’ve heard people in Gazoo saying that since we’re in an election campaign, a large-scale operation is out of the question," he says, referring to April 9 Israeli polls.

"I’d suggest to Hamas ‐ don’t count on it. We’ll do whatever is necessary to return peace and quiet to the Gazoo border communities, and the entire south."
Possibly start by hitting those who are actually shooting off rockets, etc.,not merely empty Hamas guardposts? Empty symbolism pursuades neither friend nor foe.

Abbas announces appointment of longtime adviser Shtayyeh as PM
[IsraelTimes] Choice of peace negotiator and British-educated economist is seen as further deepening rift with Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,.
But doing or not doing anything else would have the same effect, so kowtowing to Hamas demands is pointless.
Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
appointed longtime ally Mohammad Shtayyeh as prime minister on Sunday, a bigwig said, in a move seen as part of efforts to further isolate Hamas.

Abbas asked Shtayyeh, a member of the central committee of the Paleostinian president’s Fatah party, to form a new government, Fatah vice president Mahmoud al-Aloul told AFP.

Official Paleostinian news agency WAFA also reported the move.

On Thursday, bigwigs said the central committee of Fatah had backed Shtayyeh to take over the post during a meeting earlier in the week.

Shtayyeh, a British-educated economist, is a top official in Abbas’s Fatah movement. He is a former peace negotiator and a strong proponent of a two-state solution with Israel. He also is a strong critic of the Islamist terror group Hamas, which seized control of the Gazoo Strip from Fatah forces in 2007.

The Hamas takeover has left the Paleostinians torn between rival governments in Gazoo and the West Bank, where Abbas’s Paleostinian Authority administers autonomous areas. Repeated attempts at reconciliation have failed.

Shtayyeh will succeed Rami Hamdallah, who had overseen a unity government formed nearly five years ago with the goal of reaching a reconciliation deal with Hamas.

Those attempts made little headway, and collapsed a year ago when Hamdallah’s motorcade was almost struck by a roadside kaboom in Gazoo.

Hamas on Sunday said the appointment reflected "Abbas’s unilateralism and monopoly of power."

"Hamas stresses that it does not recognize this separatist government because it was formed without national consensus," front man Fawzi Barhoum said in a statement.

Hamdallah announced his resignation in January after years of failure in reconciliation efforts. Shtayyeh is now expected to appoint a new cabinet of Fatah supporters.

Shtayyeh, born in 1958, has a PhD in economic development from the University of Sussex, according to his website. He has held a number of senior positions, including Public Works minister and as a past peace negotiator with Israel. He currently is head of the Paleostinian Economic Council for Development and Reconstruction, a body that works with international donors on economic development projects in the Paleostinian areas.

Cash-strapped PA cuts salaries by 40% after tax revenue spat with Israel
[IsraelTimes] The Paleostinian Authority announces that it will be slashing the salaries of its civil servants by around 40 percent this month after the Ramallah government protested the Israeli decision to withhold tens of millions of dollars in tax transfers to the PA.

PA Finance Minister Dr. Shukri Bishara tells journalists at a presser that most of the cuts will come from the salaries of higher paid officials, and that monthly wages below NIS 2,000 ($550) will not be affected.

He says some 50% of the thousands of PA employees will receive their paycheck of NIS 2,000 or less today.

Bishara says the PA has taken out a $50 million loan, and will continue to do so on a monthly basis "during the coming period."

by Israel for terrorism and violence, and to the families of dead terrorists.

PA President Mahmoud Abbas says he will not accept any funds from Israel unless it provides the full tax sums it owes the PA.

Earlier today, Abbas blamed Israel for exacerbating the financial crisis in the West Bank.

"Israel is choking the economy and causing a financial crisis for the Paleostinian Authority," he said during a meeting with Israeli opposition politicians. "Despite this, we are maintaining our support for the two-state solution and fighting terrorism. Our money must be returned."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran demands Pak acts ‘decisively against terrorists’ after Feb attack
It would be nice if Iran could get them to give up their jihadi pets, but history suggests it isn’t likely.
[IsraelTimes] Tehran calls on Islamabad to stop Jaish al-Adl group, blamed for bombing that killed 27 Iranian Revolutionary Guards members.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has demanded Pakistain act "decisively against anti-Iranian terrorists" in a phone call with the country’s premier, Tehran said, a month after a bloody attack on security forces.

Iran says a Pak jacket wallah was behind the February 13 attack that killed 27 Revolutionary Guards in its volatile southeastern province of Sistan-Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
A Sunni jihadist group, Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice),
...formed in 2012 as a successor to the Sunni Balochi independence group Jundullah (Soldiers of God), which operates on both sides of the Pak-Iranian border. The Pak version has close relations with al-Qaeda and the Pak Talibs and is probably a false nose and mustache for Lashkar-e-Jhangvi...
which Tehran says operates mostly out of bases in neighboring Pakistain, grabbed credit for the blast.

Iran has accused Pakistain’s army and intelligence agency of sheltering the jihadists and summoned the country’s ambassador in the wake of the attack.

In the phone conversation Saturday evening with Pak Prime Minister Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems...
, Rouhani called to maintain good ties and pointed the finger of blame at Tehran’s traditional regional and international foes.

"We shouldn’t allow decades of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries be affected by terrorist groupuscules that we both know from where they are being armed and financed," Rouhani said, according to a government statement.

The Iranian president was alluding to the United States and Israel, as well as Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and the United Arab Emirates, which it accuses of aiding jihadist groups responsible for attacks from Pak soil.

February’s bombing was the latest of numerous attacks on Iran’s security forces and officials in Sistan-Balochistan, where the minority Sunni Baluchis accuse the authorities of discrimination.

Leb Army, UNIFIL Go on Alert as Israel Removes Border Barb Wire
Oh noes! The fence building continues!!!
[AnNahar] Israeli forces on Sunday removed old barbed wire along a separation wall it had constructed off the Fatima border gate, as the Lebanese Army closed roads facing the border wall.

The army and UNIFIL peacekeepers took strict security measures in the area during the process, according to the National News Agency.

"Assisted by bulldozers, dozens of Israeli troops removed the two-kilometer barb wire," NNA said.

UNIFIL's eastern sector commander, General Antonio Romero Losada, inspected the area and oversaw the Israeli works.

Israeli forces have also resumed works to enlarge a road in a field leading to the Hounine military post while erecting sand barriers in the area opposite the Lebanese town of Markaba in Marjeyoun district.

Syria is ready for war with Israel over Golan Heights region: Mikdad
Suuuuuure they are.
[ALMASDARNEWS] Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad told the head of the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO), Christine Lund, this past week that Syria is prepared for a showdown with Israel over the Golan Heights region.

Mikdad warned Lund that Syria will respond with force if Israel continues to attack the country, as well as if the U.S. recognizes Israel’s illusory sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights.

"Syria will attack Israel if it does not leave the Golan Heights," Mikdad told Lund, as quoted by World Israel News.

"We will not hesitate to confront Israel," Mekdad said. "We are also not scared away by its [Israel’s] supporters who are helping to perpetuate the occupation of the Golan," he added.

Mikdad’s comments were in response to a new bill that was presented by Republican Senators Ted Cruz and Tom Cotton, along with Democratic Party Representative Mike Gallagher, in regards to the U.S.’ recognition of Israel’s illusory sovereignty over the Golan Heights region.

The bill has already received preliminary support from the leader of the majority in the House of Representatives of the US Congress, Democrat Congressman the mealy-mouthed Steny StinkyHoyer
