Afghanistan
Up To 10,000 Afghans Return Home From Iran Daily
[ToloNews] The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said this week that the number of Afghan refugees returning home from Iran has doubled recently as Iranian currency loses its value against dollar unprecedentedly.

IOM statistics show that between 8,000 to 10,000 undocumented Afghan return home from Iran every day.

IOM says the main reason behind the increase of returnees from Iran is the economic crisis in Iran that has loomed following new US sanctions on Tehran.

"429,845 refugees from Iran and 23,301 refugees from Pakistain have been deported or voluntary returned," said Kazim Elham, head of border returnees department at IOM.

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) meanwhile said the number of return refugees has increased unprecedentedly in recent weeks.

"When the currency loses its value, refugees cannot afford their daily expenses there therefore they decide to return to Afghanistan," said Islamuddin Jurat, head of Communication and Public Relations Department of MoRR.

An Afghan refugee who has returned from Iran last month said the money a refugee gains form working in Iran is only enough for his living costs and that he cannot save the money for his family.

Shahida Durani said he was working in Tehran but was not earning enough money due to the fall of Iranian Rial against US dollar.

"Six months ago, we would work from 16,000 to 17,000 AFs in a month. But now one million Iranian Toman is equal to 7,000 AFs which is not enough," said Durani.

Durani, 28, said two years ago he spent lots of money to reach Iran through illegal routes, but this year he had no option but to leave as he could not make savings there.

IOM statistics show that 514,405 Afghans returned home from Iran and Pakistain from January 1 to August 25 of which 492,343 of them returned home from Iran.

Statistics show that Iran still hosts 2.14 million Afghan refugees.

Spyware sheik-down: UAE government accused of hacking phones of a prince, emir and other rivals
[RT] The United Arab Emirates (UAE) asked an Israel-based surveillance company to spy on a prince, a Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
i emir, and other rivals by hacking their phones, according to leaked emails obtained by the New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

.

The emails cited in the Times report, which was published on Friday, were submitted in lawsuits against Israel-based NSO Group. The correspondence suggests that the surveillance company may have been involved in illegal spying for clients, with evidence indicating that the UAE signed a contract to license the spyware from "as early as August 2013."

The UAE sought to intercept the calls of some major rivals with the spyware ‐ including Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Ali Thani in 2014, Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri
Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too.
, and Saudi Prince Mutaib bin Abdullah, who was seen as a contender for the throne at the time.

To trick their targets into downloading the Pegasus program, a text message ‐ usually carefully worded bait for the target ‐ was sent to the mobile phone with a link. Targets in the Persian Gulf received seemingly innocent text messages with apparently innocuous offers: "Ramadan is near ‐ incredible discounts," and "Keep your car tires from exploding in the heat."

When the link is clicked, spyware is secretly downloaded, giving the perpetrators access to a target’s contact information, text messages, emails, and social media data, including Facebook, Skype, WhatsApp, and Telegram. They could also listen in on phone calls and even potentially monitor "face-to-face conversations conducted nearby."

The lawsuits were filed in Israel and Cyprus by a Qatari national and Mexican journalists and activists, who say they were targeted by NSO’s spyware program, Pegasus.

According to the New York Times, four years ago ‐ at the request of the UAE ‐ the NSO Group’s affiliate successfully recorded the calls of the editor of London-based newspaper Al Araba and attempted to spy on foreign government officials to prove to the Emiratis what the software could do.

The NSO Group has previously sold the same spyware technology to Mexico, on the proviso that the software only be used against criminals and terrorists. Despite the caveat, countries that purchase the software are left to operate it on their own, and this has allegedly seen some of Mexico’s most prominent journalists, academics, human rights

lawyers, and criminal Sherlocks targeted.

NSO has previously admitted charging customers $650,000 to hack 10 devices... after an initial $500,000 installation fee. In the dual lawsuits, it is believed that the UAE may have forked out a total licensing fee of at least $18 million.

Saudi-UAE coalition admits Yemen school bus bombing 'unjustified'
[Al Jazeera] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have admitted that the bombing of a school bus in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
last month - which killed 51 people, including 40 children - was "unjustified".

A probe by the coalition fighting Yemen's Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
rebels concluded on Saturday that "mistakes" had been made in the August 9 air raid in Saada province.

At the day of the attack, coalition spokesperson Colonel Turki al-Malki had defended the air raid, saying his forces hit a "legitimate military target", which included "operators and planners".

But in a rare concession, the military alliance's investigative body, the Joint Incident Assessment Team (JIAT), said that those behind it should be held accountable.

"The Joint Team ... is of the opinion that the coalition forces should initiate legal action to try and penalise those responsible for the mistakes, which caused collateral damage in the area," Mansour Ahmed al-Mansour, a legal adviser to JIAT, told news hounds in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

Britain
Woman knifed in north London amid surge in stabbings
[PRESSTV] Police in London have attended to another scene of violence involving knife after a young woman was badly stabbed in broad daylight.

The attack on the woman, who was reported to be in her 20s, took place around noon local time on Saturday in Caledonian Road in north London.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital. Her injuries was described as not life threatening.

“We were called at 10:16am, there were a number of calls to us reporting a stabbing incident ... We sent a number of vehicles,” said a health official after the incident.

Police officers were in the scene of the attack while traffic was being diverted from the area. Authorities said they had detained an unidentified man on suspicion of attempted murder. Earlier reports suggested the perpetrator or perpetrators had been at large.

The attack is the latest to come from a spate of knife crimes in London. At least 20 young people have been stabbed to death in the British capital since the start of the year. A man in his 20s died on 25 August after being knifed on Creek Road in Deptford, south east London.

The Grand Turk
Turkey officially adds large Syrian jihadist group to terror list ahead of Idlib offensive
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
has officially added the Syrian jihadist group "Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
" to their national terror list.

This move by the Ottoman Turkish government comes on the eve of the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) scheduled offensive in the Idlib, Hama, and Latakia governorates.

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham is one of the largest jihadist groups in Syria; they are primarily active in the Hama, Aleppo, Idlib, and Latakia governorates.

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s positions in northwestern Syria are expected to be the Syrian Arab Army’s primary target during their offensive.

Russia has been pressuring the Ottoman Turkish regime to eliminate the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham snuffies from the Idlib Governorate for several months now; however, they have often been reluctant due to their relationship with the jihadist group.

Erdogan labels rating agencies as 'impostors' and 'racketeers'
[Al Jazeera] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
has accused Western credit-rating agencies of deliberately attempting to undermine the banking sector amid attacks on its currency, the lira.

Friday's scathing comments from Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
and his son-in-law, Finance Minister Berat Albayrak, came after two agencies, Moody's and Fitch, sounded more alarm this week about the state of Turkey's banks, citing the impact of the currency sell-off.

"These rating agencies - in a way that has no precedent in the world - right after every forex attack, have weighed in and made intensive efforts to create a pessimistic view of our banks," Albayrak said in a speech in Istanbul.

He said banks' balance sheets were stronger than most of their global rivals.

"If they have their dollars, we have our God. They can't topple Turkey with dollars," he told supporters in the northwestern province of Balikesir.

International-UN-NGOs
After defunding UNRWA, US said seeking to limit others’ aid to it, then close it
[IsraelTimes] Trump Administration will allow Gulf and Arab allies to help keep UN's Paleostinian refugee agency afloat for now, but ultimately wants it dismantled, Israeli TV reports

A day after the US announced it will not give any further funding to UNWRA, the UN agency that aids Paleostinian refugees, Israeli officials said the Trump Administration has made clear to them that it intends to see UNRWA closed down altogether and all its functions taken over by other agencies.

The US will not prevent the Gulf states, Arab nations, and others from providing emergency funding to keep UNRWA (the UN’s Relief and Works Agency for Paleostine Refugees) functioning this year, Israel’s Hadashot TV news reported on Saturday, quoting senior Israeli diplomatic sources. But it will condition its consent to further funding by US allies in the Arab world on a reevaluation of UNRWA’s role and a redefinition of who the agency defines as a Paleostinian refugee. Ultimately the TV report said, the US goal is to "close down UNRWA altogether."

Iraq
Fears over Iranian proxies’ Iraq missile factories
[ARABNEWS] Iraqi armed factions backed by Iran have been working for months to develop ballistic missiles and are threatening to use them against American forces in the country, Shiite commanders and Iraqi security officials told Arab News.

Improved missile technology being developed by Iranian proxy forces in another country in the Middle East will be of grave concern to Arab countries and the US.

Iran is already accused of supplying Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. , and helping Hezbollah build factories in Leb that produce similar weapons.

Iran has been financing and equipping dozens of Shiite and Sunni bad boy groups operating in Iraq since 2005. Some have become the most powerful military groups in Iraq and the region, including Badr Organization, Assaib Ahl al-Haq, Kattaib Hezbollah-Iraq and Saraya al-Kharasani.

All of the groups fought against ISIS over the last four years under the umbrella of the Popular Mobilization, alongside the regular Iraqi military and which was backed by the US-led coalition in Iraq.

LATEST VERSIONS

Although most of these groups have been equipped by Iran, many have established factories to manufacture they own weapons across the country.

They succeeded in producing some short-range missiles such as al-Ashtar, al-Muntaqim and al-Qaher, and have moved on to expand the ranges of these missiles.

The most advanced ‐ al-Fatah ‐ is the result two years work, a senior Shiite commander within the Saraya al-Kharassani faction told Arab News.

He said the ranges of the latest versions are still unclear as they have not yet had a chance to test them.

"All the (Shiite) armed factions have participated in this by using Iraqi and foreign experts," he said. "The missiles are ready but have not been used before. We may experiment them in the next few days near the border in Basra."

A report by Rooters on Friday said ballistic missiles had been transferred from Iran to Iraq over the past few months to threaten Iran’s enemies in the region.

The report said the missiles had a range of between 200 and 700 kilometers, putting Riyadh or the Israeli city of Tel Aviv within striking distance if the weapons were deployed in southern or western Iraq.

Shiite commanders and Iraqi security officials, however, told Arab News that these missiles have been built in Iraq and their range has not yet been tested to be classified as medium-range. They said their use for targets outside Iraq has not even discussed.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
UNHCR chief calls for ‘dignified return’ of Syrian exiles
[ARABNEWS] The UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said on Friday that Syrian refugees in Leb need assurances of a "safe and dignified return" to their homeland.
That probably means we should pay for it.
Grandi’s comments follow confirmation by Leb’s President Michel Aoun

that Leb will continue to organize a gradual voluntary return of refugees in accordance with a Russian initiative.

, told Arab News that the UN commissioner had no problem with the Russian initiative, but insisted that conditions should be suitable for repatriation of Syrian refugees.

"Grandi said we must be logical and unbiased when we discuss refugees’ return," al-Marabi said.

The UN commissioner cautioned against a hasty solution for the return of refugees, saying this would be counterproductive.

Turkish-backed rebels, Russians reach agreement to allow Syrian Army offensive in west Aleppo
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels and the Russian Reconciliation Center have allegedly reached an agreement regarding the situation in west Aleppo.

According to opposition activists, Ottoman Turkish-backed Harakat Noureddine al-Zinki agreed to retreat from several areas in west Aleppo so that the Russian and Syrian forces can attack the remaining jihadists from Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
.

Furthermore, Harakat Noureddine al-Zinki has allegedly agreed to fight Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham in the western countryside of Aleppo.

In turn, the Russian and Syrian forces will not target any of Harakat Noureddine al-Zinki positions in western Aleppo.

Harakat Nouriddeen al-Zinki has yet to corroborate these claims; however, negotiations between the Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels and the Russian Reconciliation Center have been going on for days.

Iran says it plans to boost ballistic, cruise missile capacity
[ARABNEWS] Iran plans to boost its ballistic and cruise missile capacity and acquire modern fighter planes and submarines, the Iranian state news agency IRNA quoted a senior Defense Ministry official as saying on Saturday.

News of the military development plans came a day after Iran dismissed a French call for negotiations on Tehran’s future nuclear plans, its ballistic missile arsenal and its role in wars in Syria and Yemen, following the US pullout from Tehran’s nuclear agreement with world powers.

State media also reported the launch earlier this week of war games involving some 150,000 volunteer Basij militia members, who vowed to defend the Islamic state against "foreign threats" including its arch foe, the United States.

Tehran is furious over US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s decision to withdraw from the accord on Iran’s nuclear program and re-impose sanctions on Tehran.

Senior Iranian officials have warned the country will not yield easily to a renewed US campaign to strangle Iran’s vital oil exports. They say the country’s missile program is solely for defense purposes and is not negotiable as demanded by the United States and European countries.

"Increasing ballistic and cruise missile capacity ... and the acquisition of next-generation fighters and heavy and long-range vessels and submarines with various weapons capabilities are among the new plans of this ministry," said Mohammad Ahadi, deputy defense minister for international affairs, IRNA said.

Speaking to Tehran-based foreign military attaches, Ahadi said international sanctions had not hampered the development of Iran’s arms industry.

"...For peaceful purposes!!"

As far as I'm concerned, let the Iranian people eat missile fuel and new fighters. No one is going to get them out of this mess except themselves, and until they face up to that it's not going to change. The mullahs will continue to crush them with religious insanity and their lives will keep getting just a little bit worse.

Tehran denies providing ballistic missiles to Iraqi militias

It added that Iran was working to provide its allies with missile manufacturing facilities, and has been training militia members in operating the new weapons.

The deployment is meant to improve Iran’s ability to retaliate against any Western or Arab attacks on its territory, as well as to expand its options for attacking opponents in the region, Rooters said.

The report cited "three Iranian officials, two Iraqi intelligence sources and two Western intelligence sources."

Iran’s proxies, allied militias as well as its own forces are involved in internal conflicts in Syria, Leb, Iraq, and Yemen.

The move makes Iran’s allies in Iraq better able to attack US troops in the country in the event Iran is attacked.

"We have bases like that in many places and Iraq is one of them. If America attacks us, our friends will attack America’s interests and its allies in the region," one top IRGC commander said.

9/11 hijackers were brought to US from Saudi Arabia by CIA: Scholar
[PRESSTV] Fifteen of the 9/11 "hijackers" from Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
were CIA agents who were brought to the United States by the American spy agency, says Dr. Kevin Barrett, an American academic who has been studying the events of 9/11 since late 2003.

Dr. Barrett, a founding member of the Scientific Panel for the Investigation of 9/11, made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Friday while commenting on a Newsweek report about a new explosive book on 9/11 that has revealed a US government-wide cover-up of Saudi complicity in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

#1  Buried within Dr. Barrett's rubbish:

But it becomes even more sensitive when we go one step beyond what Newsweek is reporting and what this book is reporting and ask: ‘Why were higher-ups telling the FBI to stay away from these guys who would be later blamed for the alleged 9/11 hijackings?’” he said.

“The reason they are giving is that, well, perhaps the CIA was interested in recruiting these guys, Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi among them, and therefore the FBI would be getting in the way of their recruitment.

#2  Barrett has, for over a decade, been pushing a variety of 9-11 conspiracy theories.

He also has other conspiracy theories, e.g., he believes the Charlie Hebdo massacre was an Israeli false flag op; he also claims Israel was behind the disappearance of Malaysia Flight 370.

He is interviewed frequently by PressTV and he has a small but dedicated following in the US that buy his books and pay a subscription fee for his regular output.

#5  Part of the never ending Dick Chaney and George W. were responsible for 9/11 and they did it to get Iraqi oil.

Never mind that all of the Iraqi oil got tied up almost immediately by the French and the Brits.
