Afghanistan
Afghanistan strongly reacts on Pakistani military ceremony along Durand Line
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Afghanistan showed a strong reaction on Pak military’s flag-lowering ceremony along the Durand Line, calling it an inappropriate, provocative, and against the previous bilateral commitments.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan (MoFA) said the Afghan government offers its strong protest regarding the flag-hoisting and a special ceremony by Pak military along the zero point of the Durand Line.

Warning that such ceremonies could deteriorate the relations between the two countries, MoFA said the relations between Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
and Islamabad is in a sensitive situation and such moves could further spark tensions.

MoFA further added that the residents of the two sides of Durand Line are having historic brotherly relations, insisting that Pakistain should concentrate more on the fight against terrorism rather holding special military ceremonies.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also protested regarding pressures brought on residents of the other side of Durand Line to obtain visa for travelling to Afghanistan.

The issue of Durand Line remains controversial between the two countries as Pakistain insists that the line is an international border and has been formally recognized by the international community, including the United States.

ISIS plans to deploy 200 families in each district by disguising as refugees: Qadir
Don't tell anyone -- it's a secret!
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The loyalists of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group plans to deploy at least 200 families in each district by disguising them as refugees, an Afghan politician said Saturday.

Zahir Qadir, Deputy House Speaker, Lower House of the Parliament, Wolesi Jirga, said at least 1000 families belonging to the loyalists of the terror group in each district, warning that the control of the situation would become difficult if they managed to deploy the families in the districts.

He was speaking during a general session of the Lower House of the Parliament, Wolesi Jirga today.

Without elaborating further regarding his claim and the sources from which he got the information, Qadir criticized the government for remaining reckless in this regard.

Qadir further added that his information shows the loyalists of the terror group are planning to purchase land for the families.

This comes as Qadir earlier warned that the loyalists of the terror group are attempting to establish the Khurasan Caliphate in Afghanistan and are busy expanding their presence in some of the difficult terrains of the country.

Speaking during a session of the parliament late last month, Qadir warned that the group will become successful in establishing the caliphate if they managed to seize control of Tora Bora in Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
He said the loyalists of the terror group have managed to take control of a strategic area in Pacher Agam district.

According to Qadir, the area is a few hundred meters away from Tora Bora and the loyalists of the terror group will become successful if their attempts if they managed to expand foothold in Tora Bora.

He also claimed that helicopters are air dropping supplies including food and mineral water to the loyalists of the terror group in the areas under their control.

The remarks by Qadir came as the top US commander in Afghanistan earlier said the loyalists of the terrorist group are attempting to establish a caliphate inside Afghanistan.

Eastern government confirms kidnap of Head of Prime Minister's Office by high-profile officials
[Libya Observer] al-Thanni government of the Tobruk-based House of Representatives confirmed that what it described as high-profile officials ordered and executed the abduction of the Head of the Prime Minister's Office, al-Ameen al-Hawail.

In a statement Friday, the government said it contacted, together with the General Investigation Apparatus, many phone calls until finally reaching the kidnappers, who said they were related to the judicial personnel.

"But the arrest of al-Hawail was done without any legal justification." The government added.

"We’re doing what we’re told by some high-profile officials." The kidnappers told the government when it figured out where they were holding al-Hawail, without saying out the names of those officials, according to the statement.

It added that the government is working tirelessly on all threads that can lead to the revelation of the reason behind the kidnap, pointing out that this kind of behavior is a first and a blindingly obvious indication that shows how weak the legitimacy of the government institutions is.

Islamic preacher who praised 'dying while fighting jihad' given platform at London uni
[EXPRESS.CO.UK] Abdur Raheem Green, a Moslem convert who has been placed on international "movement alert list" by Australia's government and banned from Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium for making anti-Semitic comments, addressed students at a Soas Islamic Society charity event.

Mr Green is known for preaching at Hyde Park corner in London and has previously claimed the conflict between Islam and Western societies is "ordered in the Koran".

He has also preached: "Dying while fighting jihad is one of the surest ways to paradise and Allah’s good pleasure."

In 2005 he was stopped from boarding a flight to Australia after being placed on a "movement alert list" over concerns about his radical rhetoric.

The Islamic Education and Research Academy, a charity he co-founded and chairs, and was warned by the Charity Commission to distance itself from murderous Moslems.

Radiation Expert Commits "Suicide"
ht AOSHQ
Radiation expert, 46, who investigated the 'assassination' of KGB spy Alexander Litvinenko 'killed himself by stabbing his arms and chest repeatedly five months after a trip to Russia'

A radiation expert who investigated the 'assassination' of Alexander Litvinenko was found dead five months after a trip to Russia, an inquest heard.

Matthew Puncher, 46, bled to death at his home from multiple stab wounds inflicted by two knives.

A pathologist said he could not ' exclude' the possibility that someone else was involved in the death - but concluded the injuries were self-inflicted.

It led a coroner to record that Dr Puncher - who discovered the amount of toxic polonium inside ex-KGB agent Litvinenko after he drank poisoned tea in London in 2006 - committed suicide.

The inquest also heard the scientist had 'become obsessed' with a coding error he made in his research which he feared could 'land him in prison' for breaking a contract with the US Government, while his wife said his mood had 'completely changed' following a trip to Russia.

Dr Puncher was found dead at his home in Drayton, Oxfordshire, in May with stab wounds to his arms, neck and upper abdomen.

Swiss investigate top Muslim leader over jihadist propaganda
[IsraelTimes] Authorities say Nicolas Blancho failed to ’explicitly distance himself from al-Qaeda activities’ while filming movie in Syria last year.

Swiss federal prosecutors said Saturday a criminal probe into suspected jihadist propaganda has been expanded to include the leader of the country’s largest Islamic organization.

The office of Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
’s attorney general confirmed in an email to AFP that Nicolas Blancho, of the Islamic Central Council of Switzerland (ICCS), was under investigation.

The ICCS slammed the move as "political" and said it was ready to "counter the accusations in a courtroom."

Prosecutors opened the case last December, charging that an ICCS board member -- German national Naim Cherni -- had violated "the prohibition of groups like al-Qaeda, Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
and similar organizations."

He was suspected of creating "for propaganda purposes" a video from a trip into parts of war-ravaged Syria, "without having explicitly distanced himself from al-Qaeda activities" in the country, last year’s statement said.

On Saturday, the attorney general’s office said its probe "has been expanded to the president of the ICCS and to one other ICCS committee member," who was identified by the organization as its front man, Qaasim Illi.

In an interview with the NZZ daily on Friday, Attorney General Michael Lauber said the case was "of high priority, because we want to know how far freedom of expression goes when it comes to criminal propaganda for a terrorist organization."

Cherni’s video included an interview with a senior member of the jihad umbrella organization Jaish al-Fath ("Army of Conquest"), which counts as a member the al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front, which has renamed itself Fatah al-Sham.

He insisted the film was a documentary and was not meant as propaganda.

The ICCS has continued to promote the film, which remains accessible on YouTube. It has been viewed more than 100,000 times over the past year.

Lauber told NZZ he hoped the case would go before Switzerland’s federal criminal court next year.

ICCS chief Blancho said in a statement on the organization’s website he would welcome his day in court to defend Moslems against "political bullying."

EU-Turkey migrant pact 'must be respected': Juncker
[Al Ahram] The EU-The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
deal that has substantially reduced the flow of migrants colonists to Europe "must be respected and will be", said European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker in an interview published Saturday.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
threatened Friday to walk away from the agreement, speaking a day after the European Parliament angered Ankara by backing a freeze of its EU accession talks.

"We made an agreement, it must be respected and it will be," Juncker told Belgium's La Libre Belgique newspaper.

He pointed to the period from 2003-2014 while Erdogan was prime minister, when Turkey "made a lot of progress in terms of the quality of its democracy". But in the past two years, the country has "distanced itself from European principles and values," Juncker said.

"I believe that Erdogan and his government are in the process of 'pre-blaming' Europe for the failure of its accession negotiations," he added.

He noted that the current impasse between the two sides stems in particular from the fact that Turkey has refused to launch a reform of its anti-terror legislation, a condition for membership laid down by the EU.

"Instead of putting this failure on the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
and Commission, Mr Erdogan would do well to start by asking himself if he responsible for Turks not being able to freely move on European territory," Juncker said.

On March 18, Ankara and Brussels forged a deal for Turkey to halt the flow of migrants colonists to Europe -- an accord that has largely been successful in reducing numbers crossing the Aegean Sea between Turkey and Greece.

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), just over 171,000 have crossed to Greece so far this year, much lower than the comparable figure for 2015 of almost 740,000.

Hundreds of migrants colonists drowned while trying to cross the Aegean in 2015 on unseaworthy boats, including three-year-old Syrian Aylan Kurdi. The images of his lifeless body washed up on a Turkish beach spurred the international community into action.

Juncker pointed out that the leaders of the 28 EU nations have the final say on Turkey's bid to join the bloc and not the European Parliament.

Still, he said Thursday's vote was a "warning sign that Turkey should not underestimate".

Iraqi Sunnis reject parliament legalizing PMU
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraq’s parliament on Saturday voted to accord full legal status to government-sanctioned Shiite Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) as a "back-up and reserve" force for the military and police and empower them to "deter" security and terror threats facing the country, like ISIS.
This is the Iraqi equivalent of Hezbollah.
The legislation, supported by 208 of the chamber’s 327 members, was promptly rejected by Sunni Arab politicians and politicians who said it was evidence of what they called the "dictatorship" of the country’s Shiite majority.

"The majority does not have the right to determine the fate of everyone else," Osama al-Nujaifi, one of Iraq’s three vice presidents and a senior Sunni politician, told a news conference after the vote. "There should be genuine political inclusion. This law must be revised."

Sunni politician Ahmed al-Masary said the legislation fuels doubts about the participation of all Iraqi communities in the political process. "The legislation aborts nation building," he said, adding that the law created a dangerous parallel to the country's military and police.

The law, tabled by the chamber’s largest Shiite bloc, placed the militias under the command of Shiite Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and gave Lions of Islam salaries and pensions that mirror those of the military and the police.

In a statement, al-Abadi welcomed the legislation and said the "Popular Mobilization" forces, the formal name of the militias, would cover all Iraqi sects, a thinly veiled reference to the much smaller and weaker Sunni tribal forces. The Shiite militias number more than 100,000.

"The Popular Mobilization will represent and defend all Iraqis wherever they are," al-Abadi said.

The vote comes at a time when the government is waging a major campaign to dislodge ISIS from djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, Iraq’s second largest city and the last major urban center still controlled by the myrmidon group.

The Shiite militias, most of which are backed by neighboring Iran, have been bankrolled and equipped by the government since shortly after ISIS swept across much of northern and western Iraq in 2014. Many of these groups existed long before ISIS emerged, fighting American troops in major street battles during the US military presence in Iraq between 2003 and 2011.

They have played a key role in checking the advance of ISIS on Baghdad and the Shiite Shrine cities of Samarra and Karbala in the summer of 2014 and later helped liberate IS-held areas to the south, northeast and north of Baghdad, standing in for the security forces which largely collapsed in the face of the ISIS blitz in 2014. However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
their role has somewhat diminished as more and more of Iraq’s security forces have regained their strength.

Iraq’s Sunni Arabs and rights groups have long complained that the Lions of Islam have been involved in extrajudicial killings, abuse and the theft or destruction of property in areas where they drove out ISIS. The militias’ commanders, however, deny the charges or insist that the excesses are the work of an isolated few.

Currently, the militias are tasked with driving ISIS from the town of Tal Afar west of Mosul. They seized the town’s airstrip earlier this week. al-Abadi met militia commanders at the strip on Thursday.

Meanwhile in Mosul, Iraqi military and hospital officials said mortar rounds fired by ISIS snuffies overnight and early on Saturday have killed 16 civilians in neighborhoods already retaken by troops.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

An News Agency that Dare Not be Named team in eastern Mosul on Saturday said scores of civilians were continuing to stream out of the city’s inner neighborhoods to escape the fighting, making their way to camps for the displaced.

Olde Tyme Religion
Islam's Celestial Women: Muslim Men Die for Them, Muslim Women Envy Them
[AmericanThinker] Obsession over the Houris is not limited to arcane Islamic texts or ISIS ("which has nothing to do with Islam"). Over the years I have watched numerous videos of Muslim men discussing their excitement at the prospect of dying in the jihad and being rushed to the embraces of the supernatural celestial women. For an idea of how pervasive the Houri is in Islam, consider its impact on Muslim women, as demonstrated in a video of a Muslim cleric taking and answering questions via phone calls. A woman called in expressing outrage at the Houris, saying she would be driven "mad with jealousy" seeing her husband copulating with these supernaturally beautiful women all day in heaven.

The cleric responded telling her that "when you enter paradise, Allah will remove the jealousy from your heart. And have no fear, for you will lord over the Houris and be their queen." Still apprehensive, the Muslim wife pleaded: "But must he have the Houris?" Laughing, the cleric reassured her: "Look, when you enter paradise, you will be more beautiful than the Houris ‐ you will be their mistress. Okay? And when you enter paradise, Allah will remove any jealousy or concerns from your heart."

Radical Saudi cleric calls on Turkey to attack the Syrian Army
[ALMASDARNEWS] Radical Saudi holy man, Sheikh 'Abdullah Muhaysni, told a TV news hound this week that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
must intervene in Syria to defeat the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and government.

"How long will Turkey and its people allow the regime's oppression to continue?" the radical holy man said in the interview.

Muhaysni believes its Turkey's Islamic duty to defeat the Syrian government, despite his past promises of defeating the Syrian Arab Army with jihadist rebels.

"Why doesn't Turkey use its powerful army against the Syrian regime; it is their duty," Muhaysni added.

Syrian NGO warns of famine in Aleppo
Just a gawddam mess.
This one doesn't take a god-inspired Cassandra to predict -- any old Cassie can see it, too.
[AAWSAT] Beirut- The Syria Civil Defense, or White Helmets, has warned that the people living in the besieged eastern part of Aleppo are facing starvation and death if much needed humanitarian aid and medical supplies are not delivered within 10 days.

The warning came as Syria’s regime presses the fierce assault on opposition-held eastern Aleppo. The siege has made life harder for civilians who are being forced to sift through garbage for food and scavenge firewood from bombed-out buildings.

With winter setting in, shortages of food, medicine and fuel coupled with intense air strikes and artillery bombardment are testing the limits of endurance among a population the United Nations estimates at 275,000 people.

Ammar Salmo, the head of the White Helmets’ operations in Aleppo, said that the civil defense’s warning over famine came after people began to fear dying of hunger rather than getting killed in a military offensive.

Salmo said that a civil defense center was hit in an air strike on Friday and the last maternity hospital went out of service after it was fully destroyed.

All other hospitals are no longer functioning except for a few medical centers that help the wounded.

Salmo said the condition of the injured is much worse. “They are neither receiving the necessary treatment, nor have enough food.”

“Water is contaminated and groceries are almost nonexistent,” he told Asharq Al-Awsat.

“You cannot imagine how the situation is,” the head of the Syria Civil Defense, Raed Al Saleh, told Reuters through a translator. Saleh was in Stockholm to receive the Right Livelihood Award, known as Sweden’s “alternative Nobel prize.”

“Doctors and the rescue workers in Aleppo are just using what’s left of the equipment after bombardments to do whatever they can do,” Saleh said.

Saleh said the White Helmets had lost 50 percent of their equipment in the last two months.

“We have consumed all the stock of first aid kits in our centers and we have consumed all our stock of gas masks.

We are concerned that within ten days we may consume all our remaining stock of diesel which is required for the ambulances and the trucks to move,” he said.

The White Helmets director said his workers had responded to approximately ten chlorine attacks in Aleppo in the last ten days – the last being on Wednesday.

Rami Abdulrahman, director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which monitors the Syrian conflict, said the Observatory had documented two incidents of chlorine attacks in the past fortnight.

A Red Cross official also told DPA news agency on Friday that the humanitarian situation inside eastern Aleppo “is worsening by the day.”

Food stocks are running low, causing the prices of basic food items such as bread, flour, lentils and milk to skyrocket, said Ingy Sedky, spokeswoman of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Damascus.

Sedky added that fuel is running critically low in most neighborhoods in the city, and many people are completely deprived of electricity and heating in the current winter season.

“Bakeries, hospitals and homes are reliant on generators and in some cases communal generators have been shut down, leaving civilians in multiple neighborhoods without access to any form of electricity,” Sedky said.
