Afghanistan
Taliban mulls peace talks resumption, condemn Ghani for seeking UN sanctions
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Talibs group leadership is mulling to resume peace talks with the foreign stakeholders and the Afghan government, it has been reported.

The officials in Taliban’s political office in Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
have informed regarding the possible resumption of peace talks.

"We are now exploring the options for talks with foreign stakeholders, as well as with the Afghan side," a Taliban leader has told The Express Tribune in an interview from Qatar.

The Taliban leader further added "It will be a national level decision. The consultation process was strong. The Taliban military commanders, who had not been on-board earlier, have also been taken into confidence. I would say the consultation process was initiated at the grassroots level this time," he said.

He rejected the notion that the Taliban want a military solution to the Afghan problem. "We want a non-military solution," he added.

Condemning President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani

He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
’s recent move to seek UN sanctions on Taliban chief Maulvi Haibatullah, the Taliban leader said "We think that the Kabul

Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
administration’s efforts are aimed at creating hurdles in the way of peace. We view such acts as anti-peace. It seems the government leaders do not show sincerity in the political process," he said.

President Ghani urged a delegation of the United Nations

Egyptian President says his country supports Haftar self-styled army at all times
[Libya Observer] The Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, said in an interview aired on Tuesday with Portuguese broadcaster RTP that Egypt's military support always goes for the national army in Libya, referring to the self-styled army of Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
's Dignity Operation militias.

"It is our country's priority to back up national armies, for example in Libya, to assert control over Libyan territories and deal with bully boy elements." al-Sissi said in the interview.

He also added that the same goes with Syria and Iraq, implying that he would always support dictators across the region.

Egypt has been a key ally for Khalifa Haftar self-proclaimed army since the start of his Dignity Operation in May 2014, giving him, along with the UAE, full military and logistic support, according to the audio leaks published by the British IHS Jane news website.

Relatedly, earlier this month, the New Arab published leaked information showing that before the Emirati military base was set up on the ground in al-Marij city, eastern Libya, UAE’s jet fighters backing Haftar forces used to take off from bases in western Egypt.

The Egyptian Presidents has, for many times, spoken out his support for the renegade General Khalifa Haftar and his Dignity Operation upon desire to obtain some sort of power in eastern Libya.

Khlaifa Haftar, on the second hand, has always reiterated his allegiance to Egyptian army and President, al-Sissi saying he would be in favor of Egypt even if that was against the Libyans' interest.

Britain
Briton Admits Giving Money to Brussels, Paris Attacks Suspect
[AnNahar] A British man has pleaded guilty to supplying money to Mohammed Abrini, a key suspect in the Brussels and Gay Paree attacks, a court heard Thursday as the trial opened of his alleged accomplice. Mohammed Ali Ahmed, from Birmingham, has admitted handing over £3,000 (3,537 euros, $3,732) in cash to the so-called "man in the hat" in the central English city in July 11, 2015, the court heard.

The news came as the trial opened in London of another Birmingham man, Belgian citizen Zakaria Boufassil, who is accused of the same charge as Ahmed but has pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
Prosecutor Max Hill told jurors: "There is no doubt that the money was handed over with the intention of assisting acts of terrorism."

He added: "We suggest that Mr Boufassil committed this offense together with Ahmed, and he is as guilty as his co-defendant Ahmed."

Hill said that Abrini was interviewed by Belgian Sherlocks in April over his suspected involvement in the Brussels attacks in March and the Gay Paree attacks last November.

He told the Sherlocks that, during a visit to Syria, a man called "Abaaoud" had asked him to collect some money in Britannia and given him some phone numbers as contacts.

Abrini was instructed to go to Small Heath Park in Birmingham and described being taken by Ahmed to the location where he was handed the money in a bag by Boufassil, the court heard.

The tracked locations of the phones being used by the men converged at around 3.30pm in the park, Hill said, adding: "That was the handover of the money by Ahmed and Mr Boufassil to Abrini."

The money was withdrawn from the bank account of an associate of Ahmed, Anwar Haddouchi, who had by that time left Britannia to travel to Syria to fight for the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group, the court heard.

"The intention could not be more clear. Haddouchi had left the UK to fight for ISIS in Syria," Hill told Kingston Crown Court. "Abrini had come to collect the money in the UK.

"The destination of the money would certainly include Syria -- it would appear ISIS, also known as Islamic State -- either to Haddouchi himself or to other fighters."

The trial is subject to strict reporting restrictions.

Terror Gang was Set to Hit Paris on Dec. 1, Police Source Says
[AnNahar] A jihadist terror ring was planning to attack Gay Paree on December 1 and had researched sites including a Christmas market and Disneyland outside the capital as potential targets, a police source said Thursday.

Seven suspects were locked away
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
in police raids last weekend in the eastern city of Strasbourg and Marseille in the south following an eight-month investigation by security services, although two were later released.

The source said Sherlocks found the suspects had made internet searches on sites including the Christmas market on the prestigious Champs-Elysees avenue, the Disneyland Gay Paree theme park, cafe terraces in the northeast of the capital, the Gay Paree criminal police headquarters and a metro station.

Five of the suspects have had their custody extended under legislation covering investigations into an imminent terror attack.

One of the men is said to have told Sherlocks that attacks were planned and named the police headquarters in central Gay Paree and the DGSI domestic security department in the northwest of the city as targets.

Some members of the group are thought to have taken orders from a Syria-based jihadist.

Two handguns, an automatic pistol, a submachine gun and jihadist propaganda were all found during the raids in which they were arrested.

La Belle France is under a state of emergency that gives security forces enhanced powers of surveillance and arrest, a year after the Gay Paree attacks.
Update from An Nahar at 10:15 a.m. ET:
The other five -- four Frenchies and a Moroccan -- appeared in court before anti-terrorism judges on Friday, Public prosecutor Francois Molins said at a presser

He said that "elements seized in Strasbourg" included written documents showing "clear allegiance" to IS and "glorifying death and martyrdom".

"The Strasbourg commando unit, but also the individual jugged

in Marseille, were in possession of common instructions... sent by a co-ordinator from the Iraqi-Syrian region via encrypted applications," added Molins.

The Grand Turk
EU Parliament Votes for Turkish Membership Talks Freeze
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] The European Parliament on Thursday voted in favour of a freeze of membership talks with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
over its post-coup crackdown, further escalating tensions with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
Erdogan has already dismissed the vote as having "no value" as it is non-binding,
...so about as meaningful as the posturing against Israel that regularly occurs in the UN General Assembly...
and as most European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
member states so far want to keep the Turkey talks on track.

But the motion, approved by a big majority, is a fresh blow to ties that have unravelled in the wake of the failed July 15 failed putsch and threatened a key migration deal between Brussels and Ankara.
It's moving slow enough that you'd wonder if Carla del Ponte was in charge...
MEPs voting in Strasbourg, La Belle France, said the parliament "strongly condemns the disproportionate repressive measures taken in Turkey since the failed military coup attempt".

They said they remained "committed to keeping Turkey anchored to the EU" but said parliament "calls on the Commission and the Member States, however, to initiate a temporary freeze of the ongoing accession negotiations with Turkey."

The motion was approved by 479 votes to 37, with 107 abstentions.

Erdogan said on Wednesday that "I want to say in advance from here and address the whole world watching on their TV screens -- this vote has no value at all, no matter what result emerges."

"It is not possible for me to even digest the message that they want to deliver."

Europe’s message has however been increasingly clear about its concerns over rights and democracy in Turkey, especially over the coup crackdown that has seen almost 37,000 tossed in the slammer
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!

ISIS teenage 'Cub of the Caliphate' kills his entire family after his suicide belt accidentally goes off at home in Mosul
A teenager who had been recruited by the Islamic State in Mosul killed the whole of his six-member family when his explosive belt went off inside their home east of the city.
Once again indicating that the jihadi's family knows what's going on, even if they don't admit it.
Three children were reportedly among those killed by the unnamed boy's explosive device.
And the three kids apparently aren't admitting anything, either.
The boy, who belonged to the so-called 'Cubs of the Caliphate' squad, had been given the suicide belt by other members of the terror group, Alsumaria News reports.

He put the device on and went back to his home in the al-Wehda district of Mosul, where it later exploded, a source told the news channel.

'The teenager's belt exploded inside his home. It appeared later that all of his family, including three children, were killed,' said the source, on condition of anonymity.
Apparently they need to put the warning not to head home before heading out to their target closer to the beginning of the Kiddie Jihadi Manual.
The man said Islamic State regularly recruits teenagers to wear explosive devices, especially in eastern Mosul.
Does that still come with a plastic key that will open the gates of Heaven when they get there?
'It comes as part of ISIS strategy to strengthen its grip on the ground and intimidate the people,' he added.
These kids need to start pushing the button two seconds after their handlers finish strapping the thing on them.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Turkish army blames Syria regime for deadly air strike
[Al Ahram] The Turkish army blamed the Syrian regime for an air strike Thursday in northern Syria that killed three soldiers -- the first time it has accused Damascus of killing its troops since launching its three-month military incursion.

The incident came on the first anniversary of the shooting down of a Russian military jet over the Syrian border by the Turkish air force.

That led to a seven-month crisis in relations between The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and Russia, an ally of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Scourge of Qusayr...
that has provided military support to Damascus.

The army said the strike took place at 3:30 am (0030 GMT). It did not indicate the location, although local media said it took place in the Al Bab region.

"In the air strike assessed to have been by Syrian regime forces, three of our heroic soldiers were killed and 10 soldiers maimed, one seriously," the armed forces said in an online statement.

Turkish media reported earlier that the attack was by Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) Death Eaters.

Adding to the confusion, the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it was an "attack by IS" on its website.

But Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim insisted at a news conference that the army's statement was "still valid".

He said it was evident that "some are not happy with Turkey's fight against ISIS (IS)", without indicating who this might be.

Yildirim vowed that the attacks would be "given a response" and would not diminish the military's determination to remove "terrorists" in the region.

But Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) chief Kemal Kilicdaroglu warned that the incident could drag the country "into a very dangerous process" and called for the government to act with "common sense".
As you might expect, Turkey vows Dire Revenge™

Iran rejects Israel claim of arms to Hezbollah on commercial flights
[RT] Tehran rejects as "absurd and hypocritical" Israeli accusations that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards supplied Hezbollah with arms and ammunition via civilian flights to Leb. Not a "shred of evidence" has been produced for any of Israel’s claims, Iran said.

Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon made the accusations in a letter to the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
Security Council earlier this week.

"Iran is using airlines such as ’Mahan Air’, to supply Hezbollah with the capacity to enhance its missile arsenal," the Israeli UN envoy stated, adding that the arms are either flown by "commercial flights to Beirut," or flown to "Damascus and then transferred by land" to Hezbollah.

ISIS: A catastrophe for Sunnis
[WASHINGTONPOST] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
is being crushed, its fighters are in retreat and the caliphate it sought to build in the image of a bygone glory is crumbling.

The biggest losers, however, are not the holy warriors, who will fulfill their dreams of death or slink into the desert to regroup, but the millions of ordinary Sunnis whose lives have been ravaged by their murderous rampage.

No religious or ethnic group was left unscathed by the Islamic State’s sweep through Iraq and Syria. Shiites, Kurds, Christians and the tiny Yazidi minority have all been victims of horrific atrocities, and they now are fighting and dying in the battles to defeat the holy warriors.

But the vast majority of the territory overrun by the Islamic State was historically populated by Sunni Arabs, adherents of the branch of Islam that the group claims to champion and whose interests the bully boyz profess to represent. The vast majority of the 4.2 million Iraqis who have been displaced from their homes by the Islamic State’s war are Sunnis. And as the offensives get underway to capture djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, Iraq’s biggest Sunni city, and Raqqa, the group’s self-proclaimed capital in Syria, more Sunni towns and villages are being demolished, and more Sunni livelihoods are being destroyed.

Most Sunnis played no part in the holy warriors’ rise. All are paying a heavy price for the sake of those who did, accelerating and deepening a reversal in the fortunes of the majority sect of Islam that had ruled the region for most of the past 1,400 years.

"ISIS was a tsunami that swept away the Sunnis," said Sheik Ghazi Mohammed Hamoud, a Sunni tribal leader in the northwestern Iraqi town of Rabia, which was briefly overrun by the Islamic State in 2014 and is now under Kurdish control. "We lost everything. Our homes, our businesses, our lives."

Across the border in Syria, where the war against the Islamic State is entangled with the complicated conflict between rebels and the government of Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Oppressor of the Syrians and the Lebs...
, Sunnis are also bearing the brunt of the violence and dislocation. Sunni towns and neighborhoods are being leveled by Syrian and Russian Arclight airstrikes. The effort to crush the mostly Sunni rebellion relies heavily on Shiite fighters from Iran, Leb and Iraq. Sunnis comprise the vast majority of the 5 million refugees scattered around the region and in Europe, according to the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
and the governments of the countries that are hosting them.

The dangers are clear, analysts and Iraqis say. Sunnis are at risk of becoming a dispossessed and resentful underclass in lands they once ruled, creating fertile conditions for a repeat of the cycle of marginalization and radicalization that gave rise to the Islamic State in the first place.
Ummm... Right. Brilliant piece of analysis there. Any solution? Or should they have just been left with their Islamic state in the first place? I thought they were equal opportunity head-choppers?

If US Can’t or Won’t Fight Terrorists, They Should ‘Stop Getting in the Way’: Russian MoD
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] The Russian Defense Ministry commented on the US State Department’s calls not to help tankers shipping fuel to the Russian Aerospace Forces in Syria. If Washington cannot or does not want to fight terrorists, it should not get in the way, the ministry’s front man Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said Thursday.

US State Department front man Mark Toner urged other countries not to provide support for Russian tankers shipping fuel to the Russian aviation group in Syria. "Such statements, unfortunately, only confirm our earlier estimates that fighting terrorism in Syria has never been on the outgoing administration’s agenda," Konashenkov said.

Washington had impeded negotiations, did not separate gunnies and opposition and now openly called on other countries to hamper Moscow’s anti-terrorism fight in Syria "to somehow downplay the failures of US policies in the country since 2014", the front man said.

[CNSNEWS] After the radical Islamic terrorist attack in Nice, La Belle France, which killed 86 people and maimed 434 people, Lt. Gen. (ret.) Michael T. Flynn, now the National Security Adviser to President-elect Donald J. Trump, said he was "done" with trying to convince President B.O. "to actually define this enemy" and added that the enemy is "radical Islamic terrorism," it is "on the march," and "this is a world war."

Lt. Gen. (ret.) Flynn, who served as the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency for two years in the B.O. regime and in the U.S. Army for 32 years, was interviewed about the July 14, 2016 terrorist attacks on Fox's The Kelly File.

#3  ..... said he was "done" with trying to convince President B.O. "to actually define this enemy"

Frankly general, the 'enemy' seldom sees himself as.... the 'enemy.'

#4  He still isn't seeing things clearly. The problem is not "radical Islamic terrorism". The problem is Islam, period.

#5  Flynn says lots of things. Even though I agree with this statement, I don't trust him.

He is the typical northern general officer sycophant - seeks the attention of those in power. He and McCrystal lay with Obama before their personal ambition got in the way of Obama's ambition...now he is humping Trump's pants leg...and the beat goes on.

#6  Compared to Rice and ValJar's world view, the sycophant behaviors are mere trifles, at the core, the focus is finally where it belongs, not on climate change.....

#7  True. He is an improvement.

#8  Considering he was forced out for a report predicting the rise of ISIS due to Obumble's policies, I am inclined to trust him.

#9  Flynn was forced out due to a violation of the Peter Principle. Even us Peons could predict the rise of ISIS back in the fall of 2011 due to Obama's failed policy. Flynn wasn't relieved until fall of 2014...he possesses no great intellect, but he does have a lot of energy and is really good at revisionist history and claiming martyrdom... And will do so again.
