SP Tahir's body to be handed over to Pakistan tomorrow, says KP information minister
[DAWN] The body of Superintendent of Police (SP) Tahir Khan Dawar ─ who was kidnapped from Islamabad last month and found dead yesterday in Afghanistan ─ is expected to be handed over to Pakistain authorities tomorrow, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) information minister Shaukat Ali Yousafzai said in a statement on Wednesday.

Police and civil administration have been waiting at the Torkham border since Tuesday night to receive the slain SP's body.

The body was earlier expected to be handed over to Pak authorities today. Yousafzai said a KP Police delegation had waited at the Torkham border crossing all day for SP Tahir's body but were unsuccessful. He did not mention the reason of the delay.

Miram Sadaqat, the spokesperson of the Afghan Red Islamic Thingy, told DawnNewsTV that the organization's volunteers will transfer the body to the Torkham crossing as soon as Afghan authorities hand it over.

He said that Afghan police and hospital administration were "collecting information" about the body.

SP Tahir, a police officer who had survived two suicide kabooms in Bannu, was kidnapped from Islamabad's G-10/4 area on October 26. A body believed to be his was found in Afghanistan's Nangarhar

Libya Planning to Extradite Manchester Bomber's Brother
[AnNahar] Libya is planning to extradite the brother of Manchester Arena bomber Salman Abedi
...one of the more notable members of the Manchester Libyan jihadi crowd, which ties back to the al-Qaeda-aligned Libyan Islamic Fighting Group in the 1990s...
to Britannia by the end of the year, Libya's U.N.-backed Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj told the BBC in an interview on Wednesday.

Britannia last year submitted a request to extradite Hashem Abedi after the bombing in May 2017 in which 22 people -- many of them minors -- were killed.

Abedi detonated the bomb, killing himself, outside one of the arena exits shortly after the end of a concert by pre-teen idol Ariana Grande.

Hashem Abedi is suspected of involvement and is wanted by Manchester police on charges of murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to cause kabooms.

In an interview with the BBC on the sidelines of an international conference in Italia, Sarraj said: "I think from here to the end of this year we will finish all the legal procedures in Libya.

"We are fully cooperating because we understand the suffering of the families of the victims of this terrorist attack.

"According to the general prosecutor we can extradite. After we complete the legal process in Libya it is only a matter of time."

When Britannia first made the extradition request in November 2017, the gang holding him refused it.

The Manchester Arena bombing was Britannia's worst terror attack in more than a decade.

Salman Abedi was born in Manchester in 1994, to parents who had been granted asylum after fleeing Moamer Qadaffy's regime.

He was in Libya just days before the attack.

Dozens of migrants refuse to leave container ship in Libya
[AlAhram] Dozens of migrants colonists have barricaded themselves in a container ship in the Libyan port city of Misrata for the past five days, after being picked up at sea, and refuse to disembark, saying Libya is too dangerous for them.

Loaded with cars, the ship Nivin was already bound for Misrata when it picked up 93 migrants colonists in a foundering raft in the Mediterranean Sea late on Friday and continued toward its destination. Two of the migrants colonists agreed to leave with the Libyan coasties, but the others refused, saying Libya was deadly for migrants colonists and they wanted to go to Europe.

They have been in the Misrata port ever since, with the captain and crew taking refuge on the upper decks.

One of the migrants colonists, a man from South Sudan reached by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named on the ship, vowed on Wednesday to reach Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
or die trying. He said six fat merchantmen passed his group before the Nivin finally stopped.

Libya's coasties had no immediate comment on the situation.

With just one rescue ship patrolling the Mediterranean, and European ports refusing to take in rescued migrants colonists, fat merchantmen have become increasingly leery of picking up people in the sea. Repeatedly in recent months, they have found themselves caught in the middle between governments hostile to new migrants colonists and an obligation under international maritime law to save

The man, who identified himself only by his name, Victor, fearing for his safety, said he himself had already been imprisoned repeatedly in Libya and that his own brother had died there. He had no intention of returning, he said.

``We don't want to go out in Libya,'' he told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named. ``You can come and take my dead body outside.''

Julien Raickman, who is the head of the Doctors Without Borders mission in Libya, said Europe's policy of refusing to take in rescued migrants colonists has led to a spike in deaths. Now one in five who cross perish at sea, he said.

Raickman said the Libyan coasties has given international organizations access to the migrants colonists, who have food and some degree of medical care now, but no toilets or other sanitary facilities. The ship's cargo of cars was peacefully unloaded, but the migrants colonists remained unmoved.

``We're afraid that this dispute will end in violence. The people who are on board are determined. They know that they went far and could face charges for taking control of a boat,'' he said. ``But these are people motivated by despair.''
Not merely entitled colonists, but pirates? It becomes more interesting.

Trump picks retired general John Abizaid as US ambassador to Saudi Arabia
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
on Tuesday tapped John Abizaid, a top US general from the Iraq war who has studied the Middle East for years, as ambassador to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
.

Abizaid is a fluent Arabic speaker of Lebanese Christian descent who headed US Central Command -- which covers the Middle East -- during the Iraq war from shortly after the US invasion in 2003 through 2007.

The 67-year-old wrote his master's thesis at Harvard University about Saudi Arabia, studying how the kingdom makes its decisions on defense spending, in a paper that won acclaim in academic circles.

A Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, native, Abizaid graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point and later won a scholarship to study in Jordan, where he honed his Arabic, which he did not speak as a child.

Trump has been slow in filling key posts amid his promises to shake up Washington.

Abizaid requires confirmation from the Senate, which would appear likely as the retired four-star general has long enjoyed respect in Washington.

Shortly after taking over as CENTCOM commander, Abizaid told news hounds that US forces were facing a "classical guerrilla-type campaign" from remnants of Saddam Hussein's Baath Party.

His choice of words contradicted his bosses, who initially tried to portray the Iraq invasion as a quick victory, but then defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld did not move to replace him amid admiration for Abizaid's skills.

And soon after retiring in 2007, Abizaid said that, while the United States should try to prevent Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, "there are ways to live with a nuclear Iran," describing the holy manal state's behavior as rational and noting the United States also dealt with a nuclear-armed Soviet Union.

Italy's Salvini Meets Rescued Migrants, Promises 'Welcome'
[AnNahar] Italian far-right Interior Minister Matteo Salvini on Wednesday met dozens of African migrants colonists, recently evacuated from Libya by the U.N., and sought to reassure them that Italia is "a welcoming, generous and supportive country."

Salvini, who has been at the forefront of the country's hardline approach to immigration, met the group of 51 migrants colonists, mostly families or women with children, on the tarmac at a military airport near Rome.

"For women and kiddies in difficulty, the only way to arrive is by plane, not by inflatable dinghy, because the dinghies are operated by criminals who in exchange for trafficking in human beings, buy weapons," he said.

"This is a demonstration that Italia is a welcoming, generous and supportive country, where I have been entrusted with the duty of bringing back some rules and order."

Almost all those in the group of 32 adults and 19 children came from Horn of Africa nations Æthiopia, Eritrea

and Somalia, as well as Sudan.

They were among more than 2,300 vulnerable people who have been evacuated from Libya via Niger by the U.N. refugee agency, UNHCR, since December.

They will be placed with host families in Italia by a Catholic association.

Salvini, the head of the far-right League, which is in a coalition government with the anti-establishment Five Star Movement (M5S), has vowed to stop migrant arrivals and Rome has moved to close its ports to rescue boats.

He supports a deal between Italia and Libya, forged under the previous, center-left government, under which the Libyan coasties intercepts migrants colonists and returns them to the conflict-torn country.

In return, Italia is developing initiatives to legally accept vulnerable people stranded in Libya, where thousands of migrants colonists face arbitrary detention, extortion and violence.

The UNHCR has estimated there to be 679,000 migrants colonists registered living in Libya as of June 2018, though the actual number could be closer to a million.

The situation in Libya's detention centers "continues to tank" because of food scarcity and the spread of diseases including tuberculosis, the UNHCR's special envoy for the Central Mediterranean, Vincent Cochetel, warned Wednesday.

Last month the U.N. Refugee Agency and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) warned the "political discourse concerning refugees and migrants colonists, particularly those arriving by boat, has become dangerously toxic", adding that while boat arrivals had fallen deaths at sea had risen.

On Tuesday Italian police bulldozed a symbolic makeshift camp in Rome, where about a hundred migrants colonists had been living after leaving -- voluntarily or otherwise -- Italia's reception system.

Erdogan says Khashoggi recordings ‘appalling’, shocked Saudi intelligence
[DAWN] President Tayyip Erdogan said recordings related to the killing of Jamal Khashoggi, which The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
has shared with Western allies, are "appalling" and shocked a Saudi intelligence officer who listened to them, Ottoman Turkish media reported on Tuesday.

Khashoggi, a critic of de facto Saudi ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was killed in Saudi Arabia’s Istanbul consulate on Oct 2 in a hit which Erdogan says was ordered at the "highest levels" of the Saudi government.

Erdogan told news hounds on his plane returning from a weekend visit to France that he discussed the Saudi journalist’s killing with the US, French and German leaders at dinner in Gay Paree.

"We played the recordings regarding this murder to everyone who wanted them from us. Our intelligence organization did not hide anything. We played them to all who wanted them including the Saudis, the USA, La Belle France, Canada, Germany, Britannia," he said.

"The recordings are really appalling. Indeed, when the Saudi intelligence officer listened to the recordings he was so shocked he said: ’This one must have taken heroin, only someone who takes heroin would do this’," he added.

US National Security Adviser John Bolton said he did not think that people who heard the recordings concluded that the crown prince was linked to the killing. "And certainly that is not the position of the Saudi government," he said in Singapore.

Asked again if the audio tape provided by Turkey did not link Prince Mohammed to the killing in any way, Bolton said: "I haven’t listened to the tape myself but in the assessment of those who have listened to it, that is right."

Turkish FM: Turkey aims to deepen ties with Saudi Arabia
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Turkey aims to deepen ties with Saudi Arabia in all aspects, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said according to a prepared text of his speech to parliament on Wednesday.

The text of the speech also said that Turkey is cooperating closely with the United States, the European Union and other parties to curb the negative impact of US sanctions on its relations with Iran. He also said that Turkey was making efforts to get the US Congress to abandon proposed bills aimed at Ankara.

The US Senate is demanding that sales of F-35 fighter jets be banned for Turkey unless President Donald Trump confirms that Ankara does not threaten NATO to buy defense equipment from Russia or detain US citizens.

Turkish prosecutor prepares terror case against HDP co-chair
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
’s Chief Public Prosecutor in Ankara has prepared a case against Pervin Buldan, co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), and three deputies for "propagating for a terrorist organization," state media reported.

The allegations against Buldan, who sits in the parliament as a representative from Istanbul, Imam Tascier, Alican Onlu, and Berdan Ozturk stem from speeches the four made during the June parliamentary and presidential election campaign, according to Anadolu Agency.

Their social media remarks and comments during Newroz celebrations in March were also examined.

The files have been submitted to the Interior Ministry to be sent to the parliament with a request to lift immunity from the four.

HDP has not immediately commented on the matter.

This is not the first time that members of the pro-Kurdish party are accused of having connections with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Both former co-chairs, Selahattin Demirtas and Figen Yuksekdag, are in jail on similar charges after the previous parliament voted to lift immunity from a select group of politicians.

Demirtas' trial will resume in Istanbul on Wednesday morning.

Iraq
Senior ISIS leader confesses to capturing, parading Peshmerga
[Rudaw] A senior ISIS leader has confessed to multiple crimes on behalf of the group, including taking Peshmerga captive and parading them in public, a court in Baghdad announced on Wednesday.

"Abu Hamza al-Kurdi had committed many crimes," read a statement from Iraq’s High Judicial Council.

Kurdi was ISIS ’wali’ [governor] for Kirkuk and prior to that Baghdad.

Among the crimes he has been indicted for "taking 21 officers and some Peshmerga and filming them in orange jumpsuits put in iron cages and then paraded before the public" in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, the statement added.

In a night attack on Kurdish forces in the winter of 2015, ISIS faceless myrmidons captured 45 Peshmerga. The remains of three have been found in mass graves in Hawija. The fate of the rest are unknown.

ISIS released video showing at least 18 Peshmerga in cages on public display in Hawija, sparking outrage across the Kurdistan Region.

The court said Kurdi will be dealt with according to Article 1 of the Anti-Terror Law.

Hawija was one of the last areas to be liberated from ISIS in Iraq. The murderous Moslem group was declared defeated in December 2017, but remains a security threat.

In the war against ISIS, more than 1,800 Peshmerga were killed and 10,000 were maimed.

Influx of Iranian migrant workers worries Kurdish labor union
Possibly an indication of the improved economy in Iraqi Kurdistan, and the impact of resumed American sanctions on Iran.
[Rudaw] US sanctions on Iran could lead to a spike in the number of Iranian migrants colonists coming to the Kurdistan Region to work, according to the Kurdistan Laborers Syndicate.

Workers coming to the Kurdistan Region are classified as two groups ‐ one arriving after getting a license from the Ministry of Labor to work for a company or as a house servant, the other arriving independently to search for work.

According to figures released by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, some 51,000 foreign laborers have been brought to the Kurdistan Region over the past 11 years through 163 licensed companies ‐ 26,000 laborers for projects and 25,000 for house care.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israeli defense minister announces resignation protesting Gaza truce
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman announced on Wednesday that he was resigning from the conservative coalition government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in protest at a Gazoo truce.

Announcing his decision, which takes effect 48 hours after he puts it in writing, Lieberman deemed Tuesday’s Egyptian-mediated deal with the Paleostinian group Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, "a capitulation to terror".

"What we're doing now as a state is buying short-term quiet, with the price being severe long-term damage to national security," Lieberman said.

Lieberman also said that his party will quit the government as a result of his resignation, leaving Netanyahu with a narrow majority in parliament.

He added: "We should agree on a date for elections as early as possible," while sharply criticising the ceasefire that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has defended.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday defended his decision to accept a ceasefire after the worst escalation with Paleostinian faceless myrmidons in the Gazoo Strip since a 2014 war.

"In times of emergency, when making decisions crucial to security, the public can’t always be privy to the considerations that must be hidden from the enemy," he said at a ceremony in honor of Israel’s founding father David Ben-Gurion.

"Our enemies begged for a ceasefire and they knew very well why."

The deal has provoked criticism from within Netanyahu’s government as well as from Israelis who live near the Gazoo Strip and want further action against its rulers Hamas.

US offers $5 million for information on Hamas leader
[Ynet] State Department promises a multi-million dollar reward to those with details on location of several high-profile Paleostinian and Lebanese terrorists.

The US State Department on Tuesday announced it was offering up to $5 million for information leading to the location of Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, leader Saleh al-Arouri and Lebanese Hezbollah leaders Khalil Yusif Mahmoud Harb and Haytham Ali Tabatabaei under the agency’s "Rewards for Justice" program.

Later, the State Department designated Jawad Nasrallah, son of Leb’s Iran-backed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, a terrorist and accused him of carrying out attacks against Israel in the West Bank.

The department said both Hamas and Hezbollah receive weapons, training and funding from Iran. Washington recently reimposed sanctions against Tehran after President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
withdrew the United States from a 2015 nuclear deal.

The department also blacklisted al-Mujahidin Brigades (AMB), which it said had links to Hezbollah and had plotted a number of attacks against Israeli targets from a base in the Paleostinian territories.

"Today’s designations seek to deny Nasrallah and AMB the resources to plan and carry out terrorist attacks," the State Department said in a statement. It said the actions denied Nasrallah and AMB access to the US financial system.

The US Treasury added Shibl Muhsin Ubayd al-Zaydi, Yusuf Hashim, Adnan Hussein Kawtharani and Muhammad Abd-al-Hadi Farhat to its Specially Designated Global Terrorists list. al-Zaydi is Iraqi and the others are Lebanese.

Lebanese Christian civil war foes shake hands, make up after 40 years
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Christian rivals from the Lebanese civil war, Samir Geagea
... Geagea was imprisoned by the Syrians and their puppets for 11 years in a dungeon in the third basement level of the Lebanese Ministry of Defense. He was released after the Cedar Revolution in 2005 ...
and Suleiman Frangieh, shook hands with each other on Wednesday, marking a formal reconciliation to end more than four decades of enmity.

Geagea, leader of the Lebanese Forces
A Christian political party founded by Bashir Gemayel, who was then bumped off when he was elected president of Leb...
(LF) political party, and Frangieh, head of the Marada party, have been foes since the early days of the 1975-1990 civil war.

The two parties had armed militias during the conflict that battled against each other. The war, which drew in regional powers, included fighting between the country’s main sects and rival factions within those sects.

The men, both Maronite Christians, met to reconcile at the seat of the sect’s Patriarch Bechara al-Rai in Bkerki, north of Beirut. They shook hands with Rai and then with each other after several failed reconciliation attempts over the years.

Geagea has been accused of leading a raid in 1978 on the home of Frangieh’s father, Tony Franjieh, a rival Maronite Christian chieftain, who was killed with his wife, daughter and others. Geagea has said he was maimed before reaching Frangieh’s house, and did not take part himself.

This is the second rapprochement of recent years between civil war Maronite Christian rivals.

In January 2016 Geagea endorsed then presidential candidate Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
...

for the Lebanese presidency, ending his own rival candidacy for the position, which must be held by a Maronite Christian under Leb’s sectarian power sharing system.

Geagea and Aoun, who fought each other in the 1975-90 civil war, have been on opposite sides of the political divide since Syrian forces withdrew from Leb in 2005.

President Aoun is a political ally of the Iran-backed Shiite group Hezbollah, whereas Geagea is a staunch opponent of the group. Frangieh is a close ally of Syrian President and Hezbollah ally Bashir al-Assad.

Tony Frangieh, Suleiman’s son, said the reconciliation was a good thing for all Lebanese and was not connected to any presidential aims.

"We are looking forward to the future by achieving this reconciliation," he told Lebanese broadcaster al-Jadeed at the ceremony.

Steel workers continue to strike in Ahwaz against Iran regime
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Workers of the Ahwaz Steel Factory continued their ongoing strike for the sixth consecutive day on Wednesday chanting slogans against the Iranian regime.

The workers took the streets in Ahwaz and protested in front of the governorate and rolled their eyes, jumped up and down, and hollered poorly rhymed slogans real loud like "We will not leave from here, until we receive our rights" and cried out that "no nation has seen this much injustice".

Another slogan chanted on Wednesday focused on the regime saying that Tehran "chant for Imam Hossein, but pride themselves in thieving," in references of using the third Shia Imam for the government’s own profit.

Several reports suggested that the protesters continued their march and blocked the streets leading up to the governorate.

In videos of the protest posted online showed a large group of the Ahwaz steel factory workers gathered outside the governor’s office in the southern province.
