[KhaamaPress] The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations has announced that 500,000 refugees from various countries have returned to Afghanistan since the beginning of this year.
Surely if they’re returning in such numbers on their own, they can be sent back from those countries where they sought asylum...
Basit Ansari, a front man for the Ministry of Refugees, said that 480,000 of them had returned to Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. Ansari added, the problems of Afghan refugees in Iran have been largely resolved and they are trying to talk to Iranian officials for finding a solution in the matter.
He said due to resolved issues faced by Afghan refugees in Iran and Pakistain, the return of refugees from these countries this year has decreased compared to previous years.

[Jpost] 2019 US government estimates placed the number of detainees at 3,000,000.
The Chinese authorities have established nearly 400 internment camps in the northwestern region of Xinjiang, home to its Moslem Uighur minority, The Guardian reported, citing an Australian thinktank.
According to the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) cited by the media outlet, some 380 camps have been identified since 2017, including 14 that are still under construction.
According to The Guardian, the number of detention centers in Xinjiang, also known as East Turkestan, reported by ASPI has increased by at least 100 compared to previous investigations.
"The evidence in this database shows that despite Chinese officials' claims about detainees graduating from the camps, significant investment in the construction of new detention facilities has continued throughout 2019 and 2020," ASPI researcher Nathan Ruser told The Guardian.
The report, alongside the camps' coordinates and satellite imagery of the centers, can be accessed through an online database called the Xinjiang Data Project.
Officially called Vocational Education and Training Centers, the Chinese authorities have been claiming the facilities are re-education camps established in order to counter terrorism and Islamist extremism.
"The findings of this research contradict Chinese officials' claims that all 'trainees' from so-called vocational training centers had 'graduated' by late 2019," Ruser said, according to the BBC.
"Instead, available evidence suggests that many extrajudicial detainees in Xinjiang's vast 're-education' network are now being formally charged and locked up in higher security facilities, including newly built or expanded prisons, or sent to walled factory compounds for coerced labor assignments."
According to the report cited by The Guardian, "camps are also often co-located with factory complexes, which can suggest the nature of a facility and highlight the direct pipeline between arbitrary detention in Xinjiang and forced labor."
With the largest facility in the region having 92 buildings with construction stretching over one kilometer (0.6 miles), perimeter walls have reportedly been removed in around 70 camps in the region.
According to the ASPI report cited by The Guardian, a new 60-acre detention center located on the historic Silk Road holds some 13 five-story buildings and is surrounded by 14-meter (46-foot) walls and watch towers.
In early July, the US Customs and Border Protection service reportedly seized 13 metric tons of human hair products shipped from China to the Port of New York and New Jersey, saying the products may have indicated "potential human right abuses of forced child labor and imprisonment."
Estimates made by former US Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs Randall G. Schriver in 2019 placed the number of detainees in China's internment camps around 3,000,000, according to Rooters.
In late July, Chinese ambassador to the UK Liu Xiaoming denied claims of human rights ...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you... abuses, saying the Uighur population lives in "peaceful and harmonious coexistence with other ethnic groups."
A mass surveillance program conducted by the Chinese government has reportedly forced local families to have Han Chinese officials living in their homes as "relatives." A CCTV network covering the region has also been in place.
According to The Guardian, locals are targeted for offenses that include abstaining from eating pork or owning a Qur'an. Those detected committing the said offenses have reportedly been subjected to detentions, torture and coercive birth control.

The mills of Justice grinding slowly because Norway prefers to keep its Arab terrorists hugged lovingly to the national breast, rather than allowing foreigners to judge them for their crimes.
[Jpost] The attack at the Jo Goldenberg restaurant was at the time the deadliest antisemitic attack in La Belle France since World War Two, and was part of a wave of violence involving Paleostinian turbans.
Following the arrest of a Paleostinian terrorist by Norwegian police sought by French prosecutors on suspicion that he took part in a fatal attack on a Jewish restaurant in Gay Paree 38 years ago, the country's court has decided to extradite the suspect back to La Belle France to face charges.
The August 1982 bombing and shooting assault on the Jo Goldenberg restaurant killed six people and maimed at least 20.
Walid Abdurahman Abu Zayed, now in his 60s, will be extradited back to Gay Paree to face his crimes and the families of the victims he stands accused of tormenting, according to Arab News and the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
In 2015, arrest warrants were issued against three former members of the Abu Nidal Organization, a splinter group of the Paleostinian Liberation Organization (PLO), a source told Rooters at the time.
One of the men lives in Norway, where he immigrated in the 1990s, but Norwegian authorities rejected the original 2015 request on grounds that, in most cases, it would not extradite its own citizens.
Zayed has previously denied any involvement in the case, according to Norwegian daily Dagbladet, which first reported his arrest. In 2015, he told Norwegian daily VG he had never been to Gay Paree.
"I oppose the extradition because I have nothing to do with the attack," Zayed told the Norwegian court, according to Arab News.
The suspects were identified long after the attacks because of statements from other former members of the Abu Nidal group using a French judicial process that maintained their anonymity, the source said.
Norway recently adopted new pan-European regulations on arrests, leading French prosecutors to seek extradition for a second time.
A legal process in Norway will determine whether formal grounds have been met for extradition. If he is tried, any judgment will be by a French court.

[PJ via Insty] "The Americans aren’t just angry. They’re really, really, really angry," said one Iraqi official after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo informed the Iraqi government that the U.S. was planning a full withdrawal from the U.S. Embassy unless attacks on American personnel and the embassy by pro-Iranian militias ceased.
Pompeo gave the ultimatum to Iraqi President Barham Saleh on Saturday night.
Iranian-backed militias Hezbollah and Kataeb have carried out dozens of attacks on American targets since 2019 while the Iraqi government hasn’t lifted a finger to stop them. Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhemi, in power since May, has been promising the U.S. he will rein in the militias.
But the pro-Iran faction in the Iraqi government has put up roadblocks to that effort. Now, al-Kadhemi will have no choice but to act.
Asia Times:
Ahead of Kadhemi’s visit to Washington in August, the US signalled it was "unsatisfied with his actions" against pro-Iran armed groups, an Iraqi official said.
The US declined to comment on Pompeo’s latest call, but a State Department official told AFP that "Iran-backed groups launching rockets at our embassy are a danger not only to us, but to the Government of Iraq".
Fresh in the minds of Iraqi officials and armed groups is the US drone strike in January that killed top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy head of Iraq’s state-sponsored Hashed al-Shaabi.
Since then, many of the leaders of Iranian-backed armed groups have gone into hiding — probably in Iran itself or in Syria. But al-Kadhemi has plenty of problems just trying to keep his job without the added burden of cracking down on groups with which many of his own supporters are sympathetic.
The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is the largest, most expensive embassy in the world and is almost the size of Vatican City. It’s been operating with a much-reduced staff in recent years and dependents have all been sent home. The State Department said it would take 90 days to totally shut down, giving Donald Trump time to reconsider his decision.
Anti-American cleric Moqtada al-Sadr called for a "security committee" to "investigate" the attacks. The subterfuge appeared to work.
Within minutes, Kadhemi and other top government figures endorsed the recommendation.
"There’s a consensus on condemning these attacks. Kataeb Hezbollah and other hardliners are isolated and left without political cover," an Iraqi official said.
But Iran isn’t standing still. Iranian officials are planning on making life hell for Americans in Iraq regardless of the desires of Iraqi politicians.
A half-dozen previously unheard-of groups have claimed responsibility for rocket attacks on the US and even threatened the United Nations in recent months.
Iraqi intelligence officials and political sources say Iran has been gathering the most hardline among its Iraqi allies into these new formations.
These reconstituted groups see Kadhemi as Washington’s man in Baghdad and are irked by his vows to rein them in.
America’s problem is that while Kadhemi is not exactly in Washington’s pocket, he’s better for U.S. interests than any alternative on the horizon. And an American withdrawal would leave him extremely vulnerable, making his survival in doubt.
The withdrawal would also be a propaganda coup for Iran. But America’s patience with these people is at an end and Trump has probably figured that an Arab-Israeli detente would isolate Tehran so that the Mullahs couldn’t exploit the withdrawal.
That remains to be seen. But as politically painful is it would be for al-Kadhemi to crack down on the militias, it would be worse for him if the U.S. packed up and left.
