Trump Administration Forces Qatari News Network Al Jazeera To Register As 'Foreign Agent'
[ZeroHedge] Earlier this year, the Trump Administration started forcing Chinese state media outlets operating in the US to register as foreign agents. Twitter and other social media companies followed suit by labeling accounts linked to Chinese and Russian state-funded media companies with tags warning of "state affiliated media".

Pretty soon, Jack Dorsey might be slapping a similar label on accounts associated with Al Jazeera, after the Trump Administration branded the popular media company, which publishes in English and Arabic, as a foreign agent.

Many Americans were first introduced to Al Jazeera in the days after 9/11, as Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden leaked tapes taking credit for the attacks to the news network, which is financed by the Emir of Qatar. Its international headquarters is in Doha,

Al Jazeera tried to spin the demand as if it were somehow part of a separate deal, signed on Tuesday and brokered by the Trump administration, in which the UAE - Qatar's biggest regional rival - normalized relations with Israel. However, the UAE ambassador in the US told the NYT that this wasn't accurate.

Leftwing Magazine Mother Jones broke the news earlier this week.

In its letter, the DoJ alleged that AJ+, primarily a social-media outlet that produces short videos for social media in English as well as Arabic, French and Spanish, engages in "political activities" on behalf of Qatar's government, which provides practically all of AJ's financing, and should therefore be subject to the Foreign Agents Registration Act. Qatar also appoints the network's board of directors.

"Journalism designed to influence American perceptions of a domestic policy issue or a foreign nation's activities or its leadership qualifies as 'political activities' under the statutory definition," said the letter, which was signed by Jay I. Bratt, the chief of the Justice Department's counterintelligence division, "even," the letter added, "if it views itself as 'balanced.'"

Mother Jones first reported the letter Tuesday afternoon.

BLM Co-Founder Partnering Up With Pro-Communist Chinese Group
[DailyWire] One of the co-founders of the official Black Lives Matter group, Alicia Garza, is reportedly partnering up with a Chinese organization that has deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party — and that group now appears to be funding one of Garza’s ventures, according to an investigation by the Daily Signal.

Garza is one of several co-founders of the official "Black Lives Matter" group, and in 2018, she launched a project called "Black Futures Lab," which aims, its website says, to help activists in the black community maintain interest in civic participation and civic activism year-round. The group "gathers information about the ways that policy affects Black communities and one that uses that information creatively to educate and challenge policymakers." It also lobbies on behalf of BLM’s interests at the local level.

The Daily Signal’s Mike Gonzalez, though, discovered that donations to the Black Futures Lab don’t seem to go directly to the foundation itself but rather to a group called the "Chinese Progressive Association" — a group that has deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party."

Europe
The European Union sends a strong message against Turkish provocations
[ALMASDARNEWS] The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, sent a strong message towards Ankara following further provocations against Greece.

“Turkey is and will always be an important neighbor. But while we are close together on the map, the distance between us appears to be growing,” she said during her speech at the European Parliament.

The strong stance of the European Union comes after renewed Turkish provocations against Greece, following a dispute over gas and drilling rights in the Mediterranean Sea.

“Yes, Turkey is in a troubled neighborhood. And yes, it is hosting millions of refugees, for which we support them with considerable funding. But none of this is justification for attempts to intimidate its neighbors,” von der Leyen said in her annual speech to the European Union.

The President of the European Commission also added that both, Greece and Cyprus can count on full European solidarity as the rift between the two NATO members seems to be growing.

Fifth Column
Barr Tells Prosecutors to Consider Charging Violent Protesters With Sedition
[ARCHIVE.IS] Attorney General William Barr told the nation’s federal prosecutors to be aggressive when charging violent mostly peaceful demonstrators with crimes, including potentially prosecuting protesters for plotting to overthrow the U.S. government, people familiar with the conversation said.

In a conference call with U.S. attorneys across the country last week, Mr. Barr warned that sometimes violent mostly peaceful demonstrations across the U.S. could worsen as the November presidential election approaches. He encouraged the prosecutors to seek a number federal charges, including under a rarely used sedition law, even when state charges could apply, the people said.

The call underscores the priority Mr. Barr has given to prosecuting crimes connected to months of protests against racial injustice that have at times become violent mostly peaceful and led to major property damage, as President Trump has made a broader crackdown on demonstrations a key campaign issue. U.S. attorneys have broad discretion in what charges they bring.

Federal prosecutors have charged more than 200 people with violent mostly peaceful crimes related to the protests, most of whom face counts of arson, assaulting federal officers, or gun crimes. FBI officials earlier this year described the perpetrators as largely opportunistic individuals taking advantage of the protests. In more recent months, police officials say they are alarmed by the presence of armed fringe groups from both sides of the political spectrum.

In the call last week, Mr. Barr urged prosecutors to seek federal charges whenever possible, two of the people said. He listed a number of additional statutes they could potentially use, including one addressing conspiracies or plots to overthrow the government. Legal experts say the rarely used statute could be difficult to prove in court and potentially run up against First Amendment protections.

To bring a sedition case, prosecutors would have to prove there was a conspiracy to attack government agents or officials that posed an imminent danger, legal experts said. Rhetoric alone wouldn’t suffice.

Officials have also discussed using a statute that allows prosecutors to bring a federal case against someone who impedes or obstructs a law enforcement officer responding to unrest, which experts said is also infrequently applied and could raise similar challenges. Federal prosecutors in June brought that charge against three people accused of throwing Molotov cocktails at New York City police vehicles during protests. They have pleaded not guilty

#2  In my opinion..
US AG Barr and too many other politicians are playing a fiddle, instead of fighting the fire, all for political gain and votes.

As a Voter, I am seeking peace and stability again in the USA. I feel this well funded Rebellion must be addressed at a Federal Level where the Liberalized - Socialized states and cities are refusing to enforce the basic principles of Law.

The funders/supporters must be charged as co-conspirators.

Also more Voters must start seeking the Recall of officials that refuse to adhere to their OATH OF OFFICE to protect the community and enforce the Law and US Constitution.

Guessing Barr is going slow, ratcheting up to see how the general public responds. A side thought... it's possible "11/4" will end up having the same emotional impact as "9/11".

Minneapolis City Council Panics Over Surge In Violence After Demonizing Police: 'Where Are The Police?'
[DAILYWIRE] The Democrat-controlled Minneapolis City Council is reportedly panicking as violent mostly peaceful crime is surging throughout the city after they called for defunding the police department following the death of George Floyd in late May.

During a two-hour Minneapolis City Council meeting on police reform, "council members told police Chief Medaria Arradondo that their constituents are seeing and hearing street racing which sometimes results in crashes, brazen daylight carjackings, robberies, assaults and shootings," MPR News reported. "The number of reported violent mostly peaceful crimes, like assaults, robberies and homicides are up compared to 2019, according to MPD crime data. More people have been killed in the city in the first nine months of 2020 than were slain in all of last year. Property crimes, like burglaries and auto thefts, are also up. Incidents of arson have increased 55 percent over the total at this point in 2019."

"Residents are asking, ’Where are the police’?" said city council member Jamal Osman. MPR News says that Osman indicated that he has been flooded with complaints with residents that their calls for help from the police are not being answered. The report said that some city council members whose constituents live in safer areas are now feeling "terrorized."

"That is the only public safety option they have at the moment: MPD," Osman said. "They rely on MPD. And they are saying they are nowhere to be seen."

City Council President Lisa Bender, who led the charge in the initial calls to defund the police department, complained that she thought the officers were being defiant.

"This is not new," Bender claimed. "But it is very concerning in the current context."

The news comes as approximately 100 officers have left the department or taken a leave of absence since the start of the year, more than double the normal rate.

Councilmember Phillipe Cunningham called out those on the city council who were complaining about the lack of a policing after they had called for defunding the police department.

Fox News Panel Melts Down After Gingrich Exposes George Soros As Financier Of Blm/antifa Riots
Enjoy your controlled opposition "conservative media" brought to you by Murdoch spawn and Paul Ryan.
[Infowars] Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was silenced during an interview on Fox News Wednesday, where he called out billionaire George Soros deep involvement with the Black Lives Matter/Antifa riots engulfing the nation.

In the awkward interview, Gingrich was explaining how Soros-backed officials were facilitating the far-left riots inflicted upon America's businesses and communities.

"The number one problem in almost all these cities is George Soros-elected left-wing anti-police pro-criminal district attorneys who refuse to keep people locked up," Gingrich said.

"Progressive district attorneys are anti-police, pro-criminal and overwhelmingly elected with George Soros' money and they're a major cause of the violence we're seeing because they keep putting the violent criminals back on the streets."

"I'm not sure we need to bring George Soros into this," said contributor Melissa Francis.

Gingrich, looking puzzled by the remark said: "He paid for it. He paid for it. I mean, why can't we discuss the fact that millions of dollars he spent elected these people?"

"No he didn't! I agree with Melissa, Soros doesn't need to be part of this conversation," interrupted Fox's liberal contributor Marie Harf.
Afraid of being accused of antisemitism. Except that it isn’t about the gentleman’s ethnicity, but that he is an evil rat bastard who wants to remake the world in his own image and is willing to pay for it.
"Okay...so it's verboten," Gingrich replied after an awkward moment of silence.

The segment went on for another awkward silent moment before host Harris Faulkner cut to break.

"We're gonna move on," she said.

#3  See Streisand Effect.

This could actually be an intentional Streisand Effect attack on Soros.

Gingrich mentioning Soros would have been a standard talking point with no news value.

Criticism of Soros being verboten on Fox and the awkward demeanor of the hosts is a bombshell that will draw the public's attention to Soros' activities.

Perhaps someone at Fox is playing 4D Chess against Soros.

#6  #3 Elmerert for the win.

Soros + Hunter Biden may play the same role in this election that Clinton's pardoned pal Marc Rich played in the 2000 election: just prominent enough to alienate a small but crucial number of swing voters who may tip the election against Biden.

Soros is more useful as a shadowy, him-who-must-not-be-named Keyser Soze figure than as a well-known public enemy. This is indeed chess by a grandmaster inside of Fox.

#9  I looked him up. According to the Urban Dictionary, which clearly is more hooked in to the common culture than I:

The character Keyser Soze is a rarely seen, nearly mythical crime kingpin who is involved in drugs, murder, and possibly international terrorism (as hinted in one scene). Most believe he is not real, but rather boogeyman story or name-drop to intimidate people. In the end of the movie [The Usual Suspects, 1995], the shocking identity of Keyser Soze is finally revealed.
