-War on Police-
Chauvin Trial - Day (fill in the blank) Nope - No Mistrial
[Legal Insurrection] The big surprise of the day, however, was the state’s sudden claim that they had discovered "new evidence" that justified re-calling state expert witness Dr. Martin Tobin, pulmonologist, to the witness stand to rebut some of yesterday’s testimony by defense expert Dr. David Fowler, a forensic pathologist.

The "new evidence" was purportedly just-discovered data on Floyd’s blood oxygen levels when at the Hennepin County Medical Center.

The state wished to have Dr. Tobin testify about that data to rebut suggestions by Dr. Fowler that given the proximity of Floyd’s face to the exhaust of squad car 320, it was possible that Floyd’s carbon monoxide blood concentration could have been as high as 18%—a level Fowler testified was sufficient to be dangerous to Floyd, and a contributing cause to Floyd’s death, given Floyd’s fragile physiology.

Judge Cahill agreed with the defense with respect to this "newly discovered" blood gas level data, and informed the state that if Tobin so much as hinted at this new data, the Judge would order a mistrial had occurred.

That direct questioning on rebuttal was conducted by Prosecutor Blackwell and took only about 8 minutes. Excitement, of the legal type, occurred about four minutes into direct when Tobin appeared to reference the blood gas data that Cahill had cautioned would result in a mistrial.

Nelson immediately objected, and the court went into a couple of minutes of sidebar, during which I’m sure the defense was asking for a mistrial.

Frankly, in my professional opinion, a mistrial in this case would be entirely warranted, if not from this particular incident in isolation, then from the accumulated harms done to the defense by the state’s untimely dropping of thousands of exhibits on the defense even as the trial proper was taking place, averaging nearly 500 new exhibits each day of the trial.

At the end of that sidebar, however, Blackwell returned to continue his direct of Tobin, so no mistrial, and presumably he was cautioned to avoid mention of the prohibited blood gas data.
RedState addresses the mistrial question, too. Both articles merit reading in full:
Witness Creates Grounds for Possible Mistrial in Chauvin Trial:

Earlier today, the defense rested in the murder trial of former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin, charged in connection with the in-custody death of George Floyd.

Chauvin waived his right to testify on his own behalf, asserting his Fifth Amendment right to remain silent during the course of the trial. That was not a surprising development.

But what came next was quite surprising, and potentially a critical moment in the case for the prosecution.

Then after the 2022 mid-term elections, when America continues to fill in the DC Swamp. An the CCP Socialist MSM is finally exposed in congressional hearings and certain Media Outlets are striped of 1st Amendment Protections by the Courts for being a paid and rewarded Political Arm and not a Free Press.

The Justice system that failed him and the Law, will finally allow an Appeal and he'll be freed. IF "Chauvin Didn't Stab Himself"

THEN
The Police Officer will sue the City DA & State AG for Malicious Prosecution and make millions. All while Anti-FArt and BLOM threaten him and his families lives for a few months.

#7  The whole thing is surreal

The perp OD'd on fentanyl - there's a necessary + sufficient cause of death
Oh wait: he also OD'd on meth. So fentanyl (to cause him to slow his breathing) AND meth (to cause his heart to race).
Oh wait, again: he also had 75-90% occluded arteries!
Oh wait, yet again: he also had COVID!
Oh wait, etc: he was actively resisting arrest
Oh etc: all this was happening dangerously close to traffic , in the busiest street in the area
Oh etc etc: a screaming mob was surrounding the cops including at least one physically menacing character who was approaching the policeman and threatening violence

And in the face of this mountain of evidence we're supposed to believe that none of 14 jurors will have ANY reasonable doubt that a 140-lb officer's single knee pressure applied to this 230-lb man's shoulder blades was actually the cause of death - not the fentanyl that stopped his breathing PLUS the meth that gave him a heart attack PLUS his blocked arteries PLUS his COVID plus his non-compliant behavior PLUS the mouthfuls of fentanyl-laced pills he snarfed just seconds before being arrested.

And then the Through the Looking Glass, Queen of Hearts nonsense with f---ing 500 documents dropped daily on the sole defense attorney by the 15-person prosecution team ... AT THE LAST MINUTE.

With an entire brigade of docs and PhDs testifying in the most slanted and dishonest ways possible, all to dupe a jury of nonsoeviakusys into believing that 'twas Officer PeeWee's knee, yeah, that's it! which caused Andre the Giant Meth-Fentanyl-Heart Condition & COVID case to die.

And these assholes have the gall to keep bringing up Emmett Till.

Why do we tolerate this garbage?
Are we all cowards now?
Are we just going to stand by and let our country go to hell?

Afghanistan
Taliban Threatens US With Countermeasures
[ToloNews] The Taliban

...46th president of the U.S. We get to suffer the consequences...
’s troops pullout policy on Wednesday, issued a statement on Thursday saying that the US by skipping the May 1 troop deadline has violated the Doha peace agreement.

US President Joe Biden on Wednesday announced the full withdrawal of United States troops from Afghanistan, which have been in the country for nearly 20 years. The announcement raised fears that the war-ravaged country will be plunged into a new civil war.

"This decision is a clear violation of the Doha Agreement and non-compliance with its commitments," the Taliban said in a statement on Thursday.

The Taliban statement also said: "As this agreement was signed in the presence of United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
and representatives of numerous world countries and organizations, and is currently being breached by America, it is imperative that all countries and organizations that were witnesses to the signing of this agreement exert pressure on America to implement its commitments and withdraw all forces from Afghanistan by the specified date."

"Now as the agreement is being breached by America, it in principle opens the way for the Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate to take every necessary countermeasure, hence the American side will be held responsible for all future consequences, and not the Islamic Emirate," the Taliban said.

Things aren’t getting any better this year. French Operation Barkhane, Chadian contingents of the G5 Sahel Joint Force and other national and international forces in the region have recently faced serious allegations of human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
violations against locals. These range from rape and sexual assault to deliberate or mistaken killings of civilians during operations.

Violence against civilians in this context breaks international humanitarian law. It also deprives military operations of a key ingredient to their success: the population’s cooperation. Repeated blunders and unaccountable military interventions make it unlikely that civilians will trust or support counter-terrorism operations.

Civilians are increasingly caught in a vice. On the one hand, violent mostly peaceful Lions of Islam continue to target entire villages in brutal attacks. Since the beginning of 2021, over 300 people have died in an unprecedented series of assaults in Western Niger alone. This includes some 203 civilian deaths in less than a week, from 16 to 21 March.

On the other hand, local communities can’t fully rely on the protection of national and foreign anti-terrorist forces whose reaction often comes too late, and who can be abusive.

"Three leaders of the ASMLA (Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahvaz)

are accused of financing and promoting terrorism in Iran in cooperation with a Saudi intelligence service," the Danish prosecution service said in a statement.

The case is to be heard at the Roskilde court, near Copenhagen, and the Iranians risk 12 years in prison if found guilty.

The trio have been in jug since February 2020, but the case dates back to 2018 when one of them was the target of a planned attack on Danish soil believed to be sponsored by the Iranian regime in retaliation for the killing of 24 people in Ahvaz, southwestern Iran, in September 2018.

Tehran formally denied the attack plan in Denmark, but a Danish court last year placed in durance vile

Meanwhile,

the attack put Danish authorities on the trail of the trio’s ASMLA activities.

Police then arrested the three, suspecting them of collecting information on people and companies in Denmark and abroad, in cooperation with Saudi intelligence services.

Sunni Saudi Arabia is the Shia Islamic Theocratic Republic’s main rival in the Middle East.

In addition to promoting and financing terrorism, the three men, whose identities have not been disclosed, are also accused of assisting Saudi intelligence on military issues, among other things.

Their alleged crimes took place between 2012 and 2020, prosecutors said.

ASMLA is based in Denmark and the Netherlands, according to Dutch authorities.

Turkey Frees Journalist Altan After European Rights Court Ruling
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] A Ottoman Turkish court on Wednesday ordered the release of journalist and novelist Ahmet Altan after over four years in prison for involving in a failed 2016 coup attempt that he had always denied.

The Court of Cassation ruling came a day after the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) demanded the 71-year-old’s freedom in a verdict that accused The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

of violating his civil rights.

Altan’s lawyer Figen Calikusu told AFP that the writer was released from the Silivri prison on Istanbul’s western outskirts a few hours after the verdict was announced.

The award-winning novelist and newspaper editor was jugged

The 71-year-old was arrested shortly after the putsch attempt as part of a purge of media organizations and accused of supporting the uprising by "disseminating subliminal messages to the public."

He was subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment for trying to overthrow the government — a ruling that was later quashed by Turkey’s top court, AFP reported.

But the case was re-examined and he was sentenced to 10 years and six months in prison for "knowingly supporting a terrorist organization" that was involved in the 2016 coup attempt.

"Very happy to hear Turkey’s Court of Cassation has just ordered the release of novelist Ahmet Altan after more than 4.5 years in jail," the European Parliament’s Turkey rapporteur Nacho Sanchez Amor tweeted

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Jordan to Try Suspects Arrested in 'Sedition' Case
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Jordan’s State Security Court started an investigation into the case of former chief of the royal court, Bassem Awadallah, Sharif Hassan bin Zaid, and others, accused of sedition and "undermining the security and stability of the kingdom," according to judicial sources.

Almamlaka stated TV quoted an official source as saying that the Public Prosecutor of the State Security Court began Wednesday the investigation into the coup for all those involved, without giving further details.

The State Security Prosecutor will review the case of April 03 which was linked to the former Crown Prince Hamza bin al-Hussein, the King’s half-brother.

Prime Minister Bisher al-Khasawneh asserted in a parliamentary session that the former heir will not be tried and that his case "has been resolved within the Royal Household," and the case has been handed over to the prosecution.

Activists circulated copies of the ruling family law issued in 1937, which did not include immunity for family members.

Khasawneh revealed, in two separate House of Representatives meetings last Monday, details of the relationship between Prince Hamza, Awadallah, and bin Zaid.

He disclosed that there had been suspicious movements and visits exchanged between the prince and the former chief of the Royal Court, as well as coordination that lasted more than a year.

According to the deputies, Khasawneh said they even discussed dates to implement their plans to destabilize security and stability, in preparation for the prince to present himself as a King.

Meanwhile,
...back at the argument, Jane reached into her purse for her .38...
deputies stated that the prime minister linked the recent events with the pressures that King Abdullah II faced for refusing to join the plan of the "deal of the century" that was promoted by the former US administration.

The prime minister stated that the evidence proves the involvement of the detainees, confirming elements tried to use local incidents to instigate strife and mobilize forces against the King. They even used thousands of fake accounts on social media, directed from abroad to spread rumors and rhetoric against the Kng.

Earlier, a joint force of the armed forces and the General Intelligence arrested 16 people, including Awadallah and bin Zaid.

Prince Hamza was ordered to halt all actions targeting security and stability, and then Prince el-Hassan bin Talal succeeded in forcing him to sign a letter, in which he renewed allegiance to the King, placing "himself at the disposal" of the Jordanian monarch.

Last Sunday, Prince Hamza appeared behind King Abdullah II with the sons of the late King Hussein and his cousins visiting the royal graves on the occasion of 100 years of the Hashemite kingdom’s independence.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Lebanon: Israel must halt all offshore explorations
[Arutz7] - Lebanon's President Michel Aoun on Thursday demanded that Israel halt all exploration in an offshore gas field on its southern border, as part of an ongoing dispute over their shared sea frontier, AFP reports.

The two countries, which are still technically at war, last year took part in indirect US-brokered talks to discuss demarcation to clear the way for offshore oil and gas exploration.

Those talks stalled after Lebanon demanded a larger area, including part of the Karish gas field, where Israel has given a Greek firm rights for exploration.
