Murray's Empirical Wisdom Confirms ‘Into The Cannibal's Pot's' Analytical Truths
Ilana Mercer on USA race problem
[TownHall] - My 2011 book, "Into the cannibal’s Pot: Lessons For America From Post-Apartheid South Africa," rests on two axiomatic truths, and I excerpt (pp 40-41 & 126-128, 2011):

"In all, no color should be given to the claim that race is not a factor in the incidence of crime in the US and in South Africa. The vulgar individualist will contend that such broad statements about aggregate group characteristics are collectivist, ergo false. He would be wrong."

"Generalizations," I continued, "provided they are substantiated by hard evidence, not hunches, are not incorrect. Science relies on the ability to generalize to the larger population observations drawn from a representative sample. People make prudent decisions in their daily lives based on probabilities and generalities. That one chooses not to live in a particular crime-riddled county or country in no way implies that one considers all individual residents there to be criminals, only that a sensible determination has been made, based on statistically significant data, as to where scarce and precious resources—one’s life and property—are best invested." ("Into The Cannibal’s Pot," pp 40-41)

In short, generalizations about certain group characteristics are, in aggregate, valid. These, however, do not contradict the imperative to treat each and every individual as an individual.
When you can afford it.
..."Free market economists have long since insisted that the rational, self-interest of individuals in private enterprise is always not to discriminate. ’The market is color-blind,’ said Milton Friedman. ’No one who goes to the market to buy bread knows or cares whether the wheat was grown by a Jew, Catholic, Protestant, Muslim or atheist; by whites or blacks.’ As Thomas Sowell put it, ’prejudice is free, but discrimination has costs.’" (ITCP pp. 126-128)

Inherent in these arguments, I had argued, in 2011, is that, while not untrue, they are incomplete, mere half-truths:

"Arguably, however, [our] good economists ... are still offering up a half-truth. Rational self-interest does indeed propel people, however prejudiced, to set aside bias and put their scarce resources to the best use. But to state simply that ’discrimination is bad for business’ [and that a pure, free-market meritocracy would solve the problem of racial underrepresentation] is to present an incomplete picture."

"This solecism stems from the taint the word ’discriminate’ has acquired," I posited. "The market ... is discriminating as in discerning—it is biased toward productivity. Hiring people on the basis of criteria other than productivity hurts the proprietor’s pocket. Thus, we can be fairly certain that, absent affirmative-action laws, the market would reflect a bias toward productivity." (Into The Cannibal’s Pot, p. 127.)

And the clincher:

"In other words, what the good economists [and good conservatives] are loath to let on is that a free market is a market in which groups and individuals are differently represented. Parity in prosperity and performance can be achieved only by playing socialist leveler," I wrote. (ITCP pp. 126-128.)

Murray’s work agrees—and amplifies this point, writing on June 6, 2021, that, "refusing to confront race differences in means ... leads in a straight line to thinking that the only legitimate evidence of a non-racist society is equal outcomes.
For some strange reason, nobody demands equal outcomes as pertains to NBA or NFL.
... the logical conclusion is that the state must force equal outcomes by whatever means necessary."

NOOOOOO!!
[PJMedia] Megan Rapinoe among ’trailblazing’ women replacing Victoria’s Secret angels

If James Bond were real, he’d be dead before the opening credits.
I thought she wanted to look like a man.
But you know — and maybe even love — the routine.

Most every Bond movie opens with Bond finishing up his previous, off-screen adventure with some daring stunt, followed by the sexy opening credits and the new movie’s new theme song.

At the end, after Bond is done saving the world from some unlikely villain, he beds the woman with the unlikely name in some unlikely locale.

Cue the main theme and closing credits.

Insanity Wrap used the word "routine" to describe the contrivances of a typical Bond movie, but they’re really anything but.

Bond movies sell a fantasy, an escape from routine.

There’s nothing believable about an unkillable secret agent with a license to kill, whose corny lines somehow always get the women into bed with him.

Women, as they say, want Bond, and men want to be Bond.

The fact that no man is Bond (and, sadly, no woman is actually Plenty O’Toole) isn’t important.

People enjoy the fantasy. People need the escape.

Does every woman who buys something for herself look like a Victoria’s Secret Angel? No, but that’s beside the point.

And when a man buys something for his woman from Vicky’s, that doesn’t mean he’s dating an Angel. That’s beside the point, too.

Victoria’s Secret is in the same business as Eon Productions — the company behind the Bond movies. They sell fantasy.
Seeing Rapinoe in Victoria Secret is not any fantasy of mine.
Part of that fantasy is the models — affectionately known as "Angels" — who are as nearly as unlikely human specimens as James Bond.

So when our friend and colleague Stacey Lennox forwarded us a report that crybaby National Women’s Soccer League star Megan Rapinoe would be modeling for troubled fantasy retailer Victoria’s Secret, Insanity Wrap got a bitter little laugh out of it.

When Stacey went on to say, "One of my followers asked why they were replacing pretty models with ’eye broccoli,'" we actually, literally, really howled.

We aren’t certain that fashion mag Marie Claire meant to be so indelicate, but they headlined the story with "Victoria’s Secret is replacing angels with advocates."

Fantasy is no longer allowed. You’ll get your lingerie and a lecture, instead.

Not even George Lazenby and Later Roger Moore combined were enough to destroy the Bond movie franchise, but Insanity Wrap is certain that replacing Angels with Advocates will be the final nail in Vicky’s swiftly closing casket.

If You Don't Stop This Charade Soon, You're Liable To Get Us All Killed!
The you in this case being the Democratic voters and Democratic government officials.
[Maga Institute] STRONG WORDS
Yes, I will grant you that this is forceful rhetoric, but perhaps it's not strong enough to get your attention. Have you watched how the United States Commander-in-Chief is mentally deteriorating? Not one of you can honestly answer that in the negative. So, then what is your excuse for letting him continue in that role?

First, you have yourself totally to blame for putting him in that position in the first place when you knew he did not legally win the 2020 presidential election. Everybody in America and around the world saw hundreds of thousands of people turn out for Trump rallies while Biden and Harris neither one of them could even draw a half a dozen people at a time. Yet you claim they got 80 million votes and Trump got far less? You know we don't believe those lies!

But your culpability in stealing this election will be far less than if you allow an incompetent person to have control of America's nuclear arsenal. I'm not saying anything that our enemies around the world don't already know. They don't even need counterintelligence or spies. All they have to do is watch YouTube and listen to Joe Biden stand there with his constant deer-in-the-headlights look.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Putin's strategy succeeds in Geneva
Direct translation of the article. Edited
by Avigdor Eskin

[Regnum] The Kremlin's LHP strategy is a success. The abbreviation does not mean what you think, but “the line of the main enemy”. This is how the American direction was designated in some Soviet institutions in pre-perestroika times.

The meeting in Geneva with Biden was a confirmation of the effectiveness of Moscow's long-term policy towards the West. All observers talk in detail about the return of ambassadors, about the resumption of negotiations on the reduction of strategic weapons, about the possible expansion of cooperation in the antiterrorist sphere, and even about Antarctica. But the main news was the recognition again of Russia as the second world power, with which they speak the language of equals. Not overtaking everyone in the amount of produced China, but economically moderate Russia.

The manifestation of a new atmosphere in Geneva can be viewed as an awareness by the Americans of the need to reduce the degree of tension with the Kremlin due to the growing competitiveness of China. This is a motivating factor, no doubt. But the general heading remains the recognition of Russia as the second most important world empire.

Recognition does not mean agreeing with the Kremlin's policies or renouncing the role of the first and foremost in the world. But the transition to the language of discussing mutual interests in the tone of the detente of the seventies - this is what President Putin has been striving for over the past ten years. All this can be framed with reservations and objections, but Biden's public rejection of the vocabulary of threats and ultimatums heralds new opportunities in US-Russian relations.

All this does not mean an immediate lifting of sanctions or a solution to the problem of Crimea and Donbass. Mutual tactics will be distinguished by gradualness and "bargaining" on each item. One should not expect from Washington a sincere and complete recognition of Russia as an equal. But instead of dismissive arrogance, Americans are beginning to return to exchange-style conversations with Soviet Moscow in the old days.

We note right away that the US 45th President Donald Trump has repeatedly demonstrated (and even after Biden came to the White House) a sincere desire for constructive and friendly relations with Vladimir Putin's Russia. But, by his own recent admission, the state apparatus with the Democratic Party prevented him from promoting the policies he believed in. Now we see no prerequisites for a friendly atmosphere. This is a recognition of mutual interests and a business discussion of them.

There is a fashionable theory among political scientists that it is the hawkish republicans who can successfully negotiate with Moscow or Beijing. They say they do not have an itchy Republican hawkish opposition. So it was during the years of Nixon's rapprochement with Brezhnev in ancient times.

According to that logic, it was during the rule of Donald Trump that positive changes were to be expected. But in the United States, a coalition of the democratic opposition with the special services has emerged against the 45th president, using the Russian factor to discredit him. In the role of itching and tormenting hawks, the democrats, usually inclined to detente, together with the state system, acted. This completely destroyed all Trump's good undertakings with regard to Russia.

But Joe Biden is not put in a wheel. The shadow of his son's dark deeds in the Burisma company and the recordings of Biden's conversations with Petro Poroshenko at that time could lead to dire consequences for both, but without any “Russian trace”.

Biden will love the role of Richard Nixon in the early seventies. It is logical to assume that signs of good intentions may follow from Moscow in dealing with internal opposition and in the degree of "bite" of the controlled cyberspace aces.

It is dangerous to engage in long-term forecasts now. We can definitely sum up: Putin's tough and active policy turned out to be justified. Consistent with Russian interests.
