10 Civilians Killed in Mortar Attack in Kapisa
[ToloNews] At least 10 non-combatants were killed and eight more were maimed in a mortar attack in Kapisa province on Saturday night, a source said.

The incident happened when a mortar landed on a home where a wedding ceremony was underway in Tagab district in the province.

"The incident happened when a clash was ongoing between the security forces and the Taliban

Kapisa police front man Shayeq said "the mortar was fired by the Taliban and landed at the wedding party in Anarjoy area in Tagab."

"Six non-combatants were killed, and four others were maimed in the incident," he said.

However,

the Taliban has rejected the claim and has blamed security forces for the incident.

Government, Taliban blame each other for shell that kills 7

have increased operations against each other in most of the provinces of the country, where most often civilians are caught in the crossfire

A mortar shell hit a wedding ceremony in northern Afghanistan, killing at least seven people, mostly children, and wounding at least four others, a police front man said.

Taliban Death Eaters attacked a government security checkpoint in the district of Tagab and one of their mortar shells hit a civilian house, Kapisa provincial police front man Shayeq Shoresh said Sunday. He said the attack happened the night before.

But Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid in a tweet accused police of firing several mortar shells toward the civilian house, causing the casualties.

Both the Taliban and government forces routinely blame each other for attacks. The assailants are rarely identified and the public is seldom informed of the results of investigations into the many attacks in the capital.

The United Nations

has repeatedly demanded both sides take more precautions to protect civilians. In the first three months of this year, the U.N. mission in Afghanistan said 1,783 civilians had been killed or maimed in Afghanistan, up 29% over the same period last year.

20 Afghan Civilians Killed, 30 Wounded in Latest Violence
[ToloNews] A new wave of violence in five provinces over the last 24 hours killed at least 20 civilians and maimed 34 others.

One of the incidents was a magnetic IED blast that targeted a bus carrying lecturers and employees of Alberoni University in Parwan province on Saturday evening. Maiwand Frooq Nijrabi, a medicine faculty lecturer at the university, was among those killed in the incident along with three of his colleagues. He was laid to rest in Kabul on Monday. 17 more people were reportedly maimed in the incident.

"The daily violence takes our youth, religious scholars and soldiers. If this continues, we will witness a dangerous crisis," said Moeen Mirzada, a relative of Maiwand Farooq Nijrabi.

"The enemy is not committed to any Islamic or human law," said Fayiq Azimi, a relative of Nijrabi.

in Tagab district in Kapisa province, at least 10 non-combatants were killed when a mortar landed on a home where a wedding ceremony was underway. Sources said 15 more people were maimed in the incident.

The village where the incident happened was near a frontline battle where government forces and Taliban

were exchanging fire. Kapisa police confirmed the incident and said six people were killed and that the mortar "was fired by the Taliban." The Taliban has rejected this claim.

"The increase in violence will challenge our approach to peace and will complicate the way to peace," said Mir Haidar Afzali, an MP from Kapisa.

"The Taliban is responsible for civilian casualties and the attacks they conduct are crimes under international law," said Tariq Arian, front man for the Ministry of Interior Affairs.

Parts of the country witnessed security incidents in the last 24 hours. On Sunday morning a university lecturer was killed in Farah, and in Kabul, a government employee and his driver were killed.

"Both sides are making efforts to suppress each other and highlight their military power so that they can gain a greater advantage in the upcoming peace summits," said Zahir Masroor, an MP from Balkh.

Figures by the Ministry of Interior Affairs show that 248 non-combatants were killed and 527 more were maimed "in Taliban attacks" in the last month. The Taliban has rejected these numbers.

province, an official said.

Herat governor, Sayed Abdul Wahid Qatali said the incident took place around 2:45 PM on Saturday.

Qatali added that the bomb targeted a vehicle carrying the Khaf railway personnel in the Ghorian District of Herat Province.

The governor didn’t provide further details about the incident.

So far, no group or individual has grabbed credit for the blast.

This comes as the fourth section of the Khaf-Herat railway is under process and the third section was inaugurated last year.

Africa Horn
ISIS suffers blow in Somalia's Puntland as forces kill Pakistani Jihadist
[Garowe] The ISIS-affiliated murderous Moslems suffered a significant blow following the death of a top foreign Jihadist, who has been serving the group for a couple of years, in their quest to control the war-torn Horn of Africa nation.

With diminishing ability, the ISIS affiliate has limited themselves to Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
state in Somalia, mainly in the Goli mountains. They occasionally strike at security forces and civilians in the northeastern state.

But in a statement, Puntland Security Forces [PSF], who have been carrying out operations across the state, announced the killing of Khalid Jama Osama, a Pak jihadist during an operation in Almadow mountains in the Bari region over the weekend.

During the operation, the security forces noted, the group's main hideout was destroyed by the team which layer seized several weapons. Dozens of other fighters are said to have escaped with serious injuries according to authorities in Puntland.

Khalid Jama Osama was one of the dozens of imported muscle working closely with the ISIS group which boasts to have recruited several fighters from the Middle East. The group was recently pictured training in an unknown location within the Puntland State of Somalia.

While it's not clear how long he's been fighting with the group, Khalid Jama Osama was one of the fighters being pursued by Puntland Security Forces following security briefs. He's said to have been the head of operations of the group in Somalia.

Puntland, one of the most stable states in Somalia, has recently been battling with terror groups. al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
is also said to be making inroads in the region but concerted operations by security forces have significantly minimized their entry to the region.

ISIS relocated to Puntland after sibling rivalry with al-Shabaab, which crushed them from southern Somalia. The groups often fight when they meet on the battlefield, something which helps in tactical neutralization of the extremism in the Horn of Africa nation.

Al-Shabaab has also lost several territories in central and southern Somalia following security operations by Somali National Army [SNA] and the African Union

Somalia's army chief survives bomb blast; 52 militants killed in Ops
[Garowe] In what could be a major step towards taking security responsibilities in Somalia, the Somali National Army [SNA] continued with a crackdown against al-Shabaab
...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all ofwhich have enough problems without them...
over the weekend, claiming victories in two separate operations in central and southern parts of the country.

Al-Shabaab still controls large swathes of rural central and southern Somalia, but the group has considerably lost in recent months due to spirited operations by security forces, mostly the SNA troops with assistance from those serving in AMISOM.

In their Twitter account, the SNA team confirmed killing 15 forces of Evil on Friday at Gal-labashiir in Middle Shabelle, in an attack that leftover 20 forces of Evil severely injured. This was one of the major operations in as many months within the country.

"Somali National Army killed 15 al-Shabaab terrorists, including leaders, more than 20 were maimed, In the operation, the Somali Army captured weapons In Gal-labashiir, Middle Shabelle Region," SNA announced that achievement.

On Saturday, the troops continued with their operations in the central parts of the country within Galkayo-Harareey, a town that has been persistently under al-Shabaab attack in recent months. The town is found in Galmadug state.

During the operation, SNA said, at least 37 forces of Evil were killed, taking the number to 52 within just 24 hours. Two attackers were captured during the operation and will now have to spend in military detention for further scrutiny.

"The SNA troops carried a planned attack at Galkayo-Harareey where the forces of Evil were stationed. At least 37 forces of Evil were killed during the operation while two others were captured," SNA added.

Al-Shabaab on their side claimed SNA commander Gen Odawaa Yusuf Rageh survived a kaboom in Middle Shabelle. The top military officer was in the combat team that has been leading operations within the country.

SNA did not confirm or deny the alleged kaboom targeting Chief of Defense Forces Gen. Yusuf Rage Odowaa, but it's clear he was on the battlefield. The 35-year-old general is one of the youngest top military commanders in the young army that is rebuilding after years of shambles.

Meanwhile,
...back at the comedy club, Boogie was cracking himself up, but nobody else seemed to be getting the non-stop jokes...
reports from the Qooqani area of Jubaland indicate that a landmine blast targeted a senior Jubaland security commander named Aidid Abdullahi. The commander and seven of his soldiers have died as a result of the earth-shattering kaboom.

Arabia
Yemeni army unit loots Soddy positions near Jizan

Definitely not safe for work:

[IranPressTV] Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
's armed forces have launched a new large-scale operation in the Jizan region on Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
’s southern borders.

That was announced by Spokesman for the Yemeni army Yahia Saree, who described the offensive as a major victory in the southern Saudi Jizan region.

The front man stated that this operation comes in response to the escalation of Saudi Arabia’s war and its ongoing siege on Yemen.

Military experts said this victory could be part of the ongoing talks as it will push Riyadh further to accept a fair political solution.

Earlier, Yemen's armed forces carried out a retaliatory attack against the King Khaled airbase in Asir using Qasif K-2 drones. The Saudi war has brought about the world’s worst humanitarian crisis in Yemen, according to the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
Observers say the ongoing operation by the Yemeni army has sent a clear message to Saudi Arabia, and that is, as long as the Saudi war and siege against Yemenis persist, Yemen's army will carry out more massive retaliatory attacks deep inside the kingdom.

Qatar charges Kenyan migrant with taking payment to spread disinformation

’s public prosecution has charged a Kenyan man who has written about migrant rights in the Gulf Arab state with receiving payment to spread disinformation, the government’s communication office (GCO) said on Saturday.

Malcolm Bidali, who had been writing under a pseudonym, was arrested on May 5 for violating Qatar’s security laws, according to a Qatari official. Rights groups have voiced concern that his detention may be in reprisal for human rights

work.

"Mr. Bidali has been formally charged with offences related to payments received by a foreign agent for the creation and distribution of disinformation within the State of Qatar," the GCO said in a statement, without elaborating.

It said his case was transferred to the Public Prosecution after a thorough investigation and that Bidali was "receiving legal advice and representation ahead of the court date, which has not yet been set".

Rights groups including Amnesia Amnesty International said in a statement on Friday that Bidali, a security guard and blogger, told his mother in a May 20 phone call that he was being held in solitary confinement and had no access to a lawyer.

Qatar’s official National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) said authorities gave unrestricted access to Bidali and "he was being treated properly".

NHRC added staff from the Kenyan Embassy visited him and he had contacts with his family and the International Labor Organization (ILO).

Europe
Chechen Migrants Arrested In France for Allegedly Plotting Terror Attack
[Breitbart] French police have arrested four people aged 16 to 18, at least three of whom are believed to be of Chechen heritage, on charges of plotting a terrorist attack.

The arrests took place in Strasbourg and its suburb of Schiltigheim on Wednesday morning after an investigation by La Belle France’s domestic intelligence agency, the Directorate General of Internal Security (DGSI), as part of an investigation by the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT).

According to a report from the French broadcaster La Belle France Info, the teens are suspected of plotting a terrorist act, but the details of the threat have not been disclosed. Investigators seized digital material during the arrest, a judicial source told the media.

La Belle France Bleu reported that the suspects are aged 16 to 18 years old and that at least three of the four — aged 16, 17, and 18 — originate from Chechnya, an autonomous Moslem-majority state in the Russian Federation.

Since the murder of teacher Samuel Paty in October by Chechen refugee Abdoullakh Anzorov, French authorities have focused on radicalism among the Chechen community in the country, including fast-tracking deportations of Moslem Death Eaters.

La Belle France Info noted that three people, two from Russia and one from Georgia, some believed to be Chechens, had been placed in durance vile
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
for "criminal terrorist association" and "terrorist financing".

Before the beheading of Mr Paty, who was targeted after showing cartoons of the prophet Mohammed to his class during a lesson on freedom of expression, La Belle France has seen several cases of young Chechens involved with radical Islamic extremism.

In September 2018, a Chechen migrant attending a college in Montauban was arrested after pledging on social media to join the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
. Another Chechen was arrested the same week in Béziers for conspiracy to join a terrorist organization.

In November 2019, police in Strasbourg arrested two Chechens at a Christmas market after they allegedly made signs of allegiance to the Islamic State, a year after radical Islamic terrorist Chérif Chekatt had gone on a rampage at a Christmas market in the city, killing five people.

Chechen radicalism is not just a problem in La Belle France. In Germany, Chechen "morality police" have been reported as enforcing sharia compliance in cities such as Berlin, primarily against women from the Chechen community.

The same phenomenon has been seen among Chechens in Austria, with four members of a "morality gang" arrested earlier this year after allegedly threatening to behead another man’s children if he did not pay them €5,000.

Non-Jewish man wearing kippah in solidarity with Jews is assaulted in Sweden
[IsraelTimes] A non-Jewish man who wore a kippah in the city of Gothenburg in Sweden was assaulted on the street by several men and was called "Jewish bastard" by at least one of them, a witness said.

The incident on Wednesday "happened very quickly," the witness told the Dagen Nyheter daily, who wrote about it Thursday. "He didn’t have a chance to defend himself," said the witness, who is related to the unnamed alleged victim. Police are looking into the incident, which happened during the afternoon in central Gothenburg, a port city of over 500,000.

In 2015, a Swedish news hound who isn’t Jewish was assaulted in Malmo, another port city situated about 150 miles south of Gothenburg, while wearing a kippah on the street to test attitudes toward Jews.

Watchdog groups and Jewish community officials are reporting an increase in antisemitic incidents across Europa

since the start of intense fighting between Israel and Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, earlier this month. A ceasefire on May 21 ended 11 days of fighting, but antisemitic incidents still appear to be occurring at an elevated rate.

It's not as if Sweden colonized the third world, so the "they're here because we were there" argument doesn't hold.

Are the Swedes masochists? A nation of cringeing Karens?

India-Pakistan
NIA chargesheets two over ground workers of Hizbul Mujahideen
[OneIndia] The National Investigation Agency has filed a chargesheet against two over ground workers of the Hizbul Mujahideen
...Party of Holy Warriors, founded by Muhammad Ahsan Dar in September 1989. One of the Pak sock puppets waging jihad in Indian Kashmir. It was originally organized as the armed wing of Jamaat-e-Islami. In 1990, Dar declared Hizbul as the sword arm of Jamaat. Hizbul murdered many of the pro-independence intelligentsia in Kashmir. After the organization was taken over by Syed Salahuddin Dar and several other ex-Hizb leaders were assassinated between 2001 and 2003...
before a special court in Lucknow.

The NIA charged Nisar Ahmed Sheikh and Nishad Ahmad Bhat, both residents of Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
The case was originally registered by the UP ATS in 2018. The case relates to a criminal conspiracy by the Hizbul Mujahideen Lions of Islam to carry out acts of terror at different places in UP and other parts of the country.

The NIA took over the probe and arrested one Kamruj Zaman. Another accused Osama Bin Javed was killed in an encounter with security forces in 2019.

The probe found that Javed was harboured by Nisar Ahmad and Nishad Ahmad. They ensured the Javed was provided shelter and logistic support, the NIA said in its chargesheet.

Iraq
ISIS executed Kurdish hostage, family confirms
[Rudaw] A Kurdish policeman from the Kurdistan Region’s Garmiyan administration was executed by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS), a family member confirmed to Rudaw English on Sunday.

Jalal Baban, a policeman from a village near Qara Tapa in Diyala province, was kidnapped by ISIS in November 2019 while cultivating farmland with his cousin Hassan Bali, who was later released after his family paid $57,500.

ISIS released a video of Baban’s execution on Saturday. His cousin Ziyad Faiaq confirmed his death, but said the video is said to be six or seven months old, according to information from the police.

He also refuted a statement given to Rudaw from Garmiyan’s police force on Saturday, claiming Baban was executed after his family failed to meet demands from the terror group.

"My uncle had kissed his [ISIS gunman] hand and told him ’I will give you $10,000’ but they refused to give him back, then he said ’I will give you $100,000,’ but they told him ’we will not give him back even if you fill the face of earth with money’ because he is a policeman," Faiaq told Rudaw English on Sunday.

"They had no other demands. They told us they will release him in exchange for that woman, but they lied to us," said Faiaq.

Ten months into his captivity, Baban was forced to send voice messages to his family.

In one message, he called on them to persuade authorities to release the wife of an ISIS leader in jug of the Erbil authorities, saying the exchange was his only chance of survival.

"We didn’t hear from him after that," Faiaq said. "We had no contact with him."

The woman ISIS was fighting to free was a Yazidi woman forced to marry an ISIS leader, the group reportedly told his family.

Hela Mahlo, from Gir Ozer in Shingal, was one of thousands of Yazidi women taken captive by ISIS gunnies in August 2014 when the terror group overran the area, launching genocide against the small ethno-religious community.

In 2019, she was arrested by Kurdish security forces in Kirkuk and held for one year and seven months in an Erbil prison. Authorities said they did not know she was Yazidi. Her case rose to prominence and she was released in August 2020 to reunite with her family.

Kurdish authorities have consistently said they do not negotiate with bandidos forces of Evil and that no prisoner exchange has taken place between the Region and ISIS or any other similar krazed killer group.

How did Iran target a secret CIA site in Iraq?
[JPost] "Our new friends, the Iranians"
A scoop at The Washington Post by John Hudson and Louisa Loveluck revealed that Iranian-backed militias were able to target a "secret CIA hangar" using a drone in April. This attack hit a hangar in Erbil in the autonomous Kurdistan region.

This is a major escalation and shows careful planning and complex know-how by the Iranian regime and its militias in Iraq. It means that Iran was able to transfer the drone itself to Iraq and gather the intelligence on the apparent location of this secret site, which is inside a known US facility, and precisely set the drone to strike it.

This kind of kamikaze drone is similar to the technology Iran used to target Saudi Arabia’s Abqaiq and similar to the kind of drones the Iran-backed Houthis use to attack Saudi Arabia and drones that Hamas unveiled in recent attempts to attack Israel.

Iran has thus transferred its drone threats all over the region.

The attack in Iraq is particularly interesting because US bases are supposed to have some sort of defenses against this known and rising threat. US CENTCOM head Kenneth McKenzie has warned for a year about the rising threats of drones in the region. He warned in March 2020, and again in February 2021.

"We've spent billions of dollars in the Department of Defense on counter drone systems. I'm concerned that we're still under grave threat from them. But I'm also encouraged to see that your command has been experimenting with so many new and more effective counter drone systems," he told the US Senate in March 2020.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Security officer stabbed in south by man who entered Israel from Gaza
[IsraelTimes] A man armed with a knife stabbed and lightly injured a security guard outside an Israeli town near the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip on Sunday night in a suspected terror attack, Israeli authorities said.

The Israel Defense Forces said early Monday that after an initial investigation it was determined that the suspect was a Paleostinian man who infiltrated into Israel from southern Gaza. It said it was continuing to investigate the incident.

Though Paleostinians regularly attempt to cross into Israel from Gaza, it is uncommon for them to make it so far into Israeli territory without being seen and detained by Israeli troops.

According to the IDF, the assailant was spotted by community security officers as he was walking along the road near the Sdeh Avraham community in the Hevel Eshkol area of southern Israel, near the borders with Gaza and Egypt.

When they approached him, the man took out a knife and stabbed one of the security officers. The other officer at the scene shot the assailant, injuring him, according to police.

The security officer was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The suspected assailant was reportedly rubbed out. The IDF said he had been "neutralized."

Many Israeli communities in areas with security concerns maintain a team of armed guards known as community security officers.

According to the Kan broadcaster, the suspect was believed to have entered the area from near the Kerem Shalom Crossing between Israel and Gaza. He reportedly had identifying documents indicating he was from the area of Rafah in southern Gaza.

Residents of the Hevel Shalom region, which includes Sdeh Avraham and other small agricultural villages, were instructed to stay near their homes and refrain from traveling on the road for over an hour while security forces searched the area for possible accomplices.

The directive was later removed when it became clear that no one else had entered Israeli territory from Gaza.

While Israel has a high-tech series of fences and walls guarding its frontier with Gaza, both above- and belowground, a number of gaps remain in the steel fencing surrounding the Strip. In times of low visibility, these gaps have been used by Paleostinians in the Gaza Strip to illegally enter Israeli territory, often with hopes of fleeing the beleaguered enclave. Attacks on Israeli civilians by those infiltrating from Gaza are rare.
Update from the Times of Israel at 1:20 p.ml ET:
The suspect is Imad Sufi, 24, from the city of Rafah in southern Gaza. He was shot and injured during the confrontation with the security guard and is now being questioned by the Shin Bet security service.

Civilian tortured to death in armed groups' prison in Syria's al-Bab
[NPASYRIA] A civilian from Afrin, northwest Syria, died due to "severe torture" in the prisons of the pro-Ottoman Turkish gangs in al-Bab region, north Syria, the Human Rights Organization — Afrin, said on Sunday.

The organization published on its official Facebook account that Kawa Omar, 32, a resident of the village of Dargir, in Maabatli District, in the countryside of Afrin, died inside Zira’a prison in the city of al-Bab.

Omar, along with his wife, was kidnapped by the Ottoman Turkish-backed Hamzat Division on September 17, 2019, on charges of "dealing with the Autonomous Administration," according to the organization.

According to the human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
organization, the wife beat feet from detention about a year ago, after settler families stormed one of the prisons of Hamzat Division, in Afrin.

On the May 28, 2020, the city of Afrin witnessed fighting between the Hamzat Division and Ahrar al-Sham
...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014...
group, which claimed the lives of a number of civilians, prompting settler families to attack the headquarters of the Hamzat Division where eight detained women were found, and Rokan Manla, Omar’s wife, was among them.

Sources from Omar’s family told the organization that Omar "lost his mental abilities as a result of severe torture throughout his detention."

Omar died about a year ago, inside Zira’a prison in the city of al-Bab under severe torture by the members of the pro-Ottoman Turkish Hamzat Division, according to the organization.

French detainee awaiting trial in Iran for spying, propaganda charges
[AlAhram] Benjamin Briere, born in 1985, was arrested in Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. in May 2020, allegedly while flying a drone and taking photographs in a prohibited area

Iranian prosecutors have confirmed a French national held in the Islamic republic will be tried for espionage, his lawyer said Sunday, days after the detainee's sister appealed to La Belle France's president to intervene.

A conviction of espionage is punishable by death in Iran. Briere has also been charged with "propaganda against the system", which can incur a prison sentence of three months to one year.

Lawyer Said Dehghan, who also represents another French national held in the country, told AFP the investigation had been completed and the prosecution had confirmed the charges.

"The prosecutor is preparing the indictment and sending it to the revolutionary court for the continuation of the judicial process," Dehghan said.

Briere, who is being held in the city of Mashhad in northeastern Iran, also faced accusations of "corruption on earth" -- one of the most severe charges under Iranian law -- and drinking alcohol, punishable by flogging, but they were dismissed after the investigation.

The announcement came days after an open letter from Briere's sister, Blandine Briere, was published by French weekly Le Point, in which she appealed to French President Emmanuel Macron to push for her brother's release.

She said the charges were "baseless" and that Briere had become a "negotiating tool".

Briere's lawyer in La Belle France said in a statement there has yet to be a response from Macron or the foreign ministry.

- PRISONER EXCHANGES -
In March, a French foreign ministry front man said Briere was benefitting from consular support and that Gay Paree' embassy in Tehran was in "regular contact" with him.

Arrests of foreigners in Iran -- especially dual nationals, who are often accused of espionage -- have multiplied since former US president Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
in 2018 unilaterally withdrew the United States from a nuclear deal with Iran and reimposed harsh sanctions against Tehran.

World powers have been engaged in negotiations with Iran in Vienna since April to try and revive the deal.

The goal is to return Washington to the agreement and lift sanctions on Tehran, while also bringing Iran back into compliance with nuclear commitments it waived in response to US sanctions.

Iran's negotiators have said during the talks that Tehran is open to exchanging prisoners.

Over the past two years, Iran has conducted several exchanges of foreign prisoners with countries holding Iranian nationals.

Turkish-backed groups infiltrate Syria's Hasakah countryside, casualties reported
[NPASYRIA] On Sunday, pro-Ottoman Turkish armed opposition groups tried to infiltrate into a village in the countryside of the town of Tel-Tamr, northeast Syria.

North Press cited a military source saying, a group affiliated with the Ottoman Turkish-backed gangs tried to enter from the village of al-Qasimiyah, which is under their control, northwest of Tel Tamr, towards the village of Umm al-Keif, 2 km in the countryside of Tel Tamr.

Tel Tamr Military Council (TMC) affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), thwarted the attempt, killing a number of the attacking forces, after festivities took place between the two parties, according to the source.

The source pointed out that a number of the bodies of the armed faceless myrmidons are still in the battlefield, as the TMC fighters prevented the group from recovering their bodies.

It is worth noting that these festivities came after a period of calm in the lines of contact in the area.

The gangs are present on the outskirts of the town of Tel Tamer after their invasion of the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) with the Ottoman Turkish forces in late 2019, which caused the displacement of tens of thousands, according to human rights

Government forces arrest students in Syria's Deir ez-Zor
[NPASYRIA] On Sunday, the Military Police of the Syrian government forces arrested dozens of students before they sat for exams, in the vicinity of the town of al-Tebni in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, in order to force them to conscription.

Earlier today, the preparatory certificate examinations started, and tomorrow the high school examinations start, and the arrested students are of the two certificates, according to local sources.

The detainees come from the countryside of Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa, which is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and the operation took place by erecting new security checkpoints.

"The Military Police had deployed roadblocks near the schools with the aim of arresting the youth," the young Abdul-Razzaq al-Abdullah, from the town of al-Tebni, said.

He pointed out that the detainees were arrested for not renewing the expired school postponements since last year.

Last year, the exam card was sufficient to bypass the security checkpoints, but this year, the Military Police demanded that school postponements be shown, according to the students’ families.
