After 26 years on the lam, ‘last' Miami Cocaine Cowboy arrested in Orlando
[Miami Herald] For 26 years, federal authorities in Miami suspected the fugitive brother of notorious Cocaine Cowboy Augusto "Willie" Falcon was hiding in Mexico or Colombia.

"Nobody thought he was in the United States," said Barry Golden, a deputy and spokesman with the U.S. Marshals Service.

All these years -- or at least since the late 1990s -- it turns out Gustavo Falcon, 55, was living with his family about 200 miles from Miami near the state’s theme park capital, Disney World.

Deputy U.S. marshals had been watching Gustavo Falcon’s rental home in Kissimmee, just south of Orlando, in recent months. And on Wednesday, they followed him and his wife as they went on a 40-mile bike ride -- sometimes losing the couple, then finding them again. Eventually, the deputies nabbed him at an intersection in Kissimmee in the afternoon. Falcon told the deputies that he and his family had been living in the Orlando area for almost two decades.

Falcon -- who had been charged with his older brother, Willie, infamous partner Salvador "Sal" Magluta and several others in 1991 with smuggling tons of cocaine into the United States -- was booked into the Orlando County jail at 6:24 p.m. Falcon, also known as "Taby," was scheduled to have his first appearance Thursday in Orlando federal court, before his expected transfer to Miami.

'White America' ....did not firebomb Charlotte-Mecklenburg immigrant's store
[American Mirror] A hate crime allegedly perpetrated by "white America" turned out to be hoax perpetuated by a black criminal with an ax to grind against President Trump.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested 32-year-old Curtis Flournoy on Sunday for firebombing the immigrant-operated Central Market in east Charlotte in what they’re characterizing as a pre-planned hate crime, according to The Charlotte Observer.

Investigators allege Flournoy threw a rock through the store’s window last Thursday, followed by a flaming object that started a blaze at the store owned by Indian immigrants.

Fast and Furious scandal: Suspected triggerman in border agent's murder arrested
[FOX] EXCLUSIVE ‐ The cartel member suspected of shooting and killing Border Patrol agent Brian Terry in 2010 with a gun supplied by the U.S. government was arrested in Mexico Wednesday, senior law enforcement, Border Patrol, and congressional sources told Fox News.

The suspect, Heraclio Osorio-Arellanes, was apprehended by a joint U.S.-Mexico law enforcement task force that included the Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Marshals and the Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC).

A $250,000 reward had been sought for information leading to the arrest of Osorio-Arellanes, who was captured at a ranch on the border of the Mexican states of Sinaloa and Chihuahua. U.S. authorities have said they will seek his extradition.

Terry was killed on Dec. 14, 2010 in a gunfight between Border Patrol agents and members of a five-man cartel "rip crew," which regularly patrolled the desert along the U.S.-Mexico border looking for drug dealers to rob.

Armed bank robber abandons accomplice mid-raid after he fell ill and died
[RT] Italian police have been landed with a bizarre mystery to solve - a case involving an armed robber who dropped dead suddenly during a daring daylight bank heist in Tuscany.

Reportedly brandishing box cutters, two raiders launched a Monday morning raid on a branch of Banca Popolare di Lajatico in Navacchio, northern Italia.

According to Pisa Today, the two men worked in tandem with one keeping guard at the door while the other threatened staff and forcing them to hand over around €5,000 in cash.

The pair’s getaway took a drastic turn, however, when one of the men suddenly dropped to the floor, lost consciousness and died at the scene. His accomplice attempted to resuscitate the stricken man before abandoning him and making off with the money, reports Il Tirreno.

CCTV may yet yield more clues as to what happened, as well as helping to identify the duo. Commander at the local Pisa police department, Giovanni Bartolacci, said Sherlocks will use fingerprints to find out who the man was, and also revealed that he had some distinguishing body artwork.

"This is a man of about 40 years, of stocky build with a small swastika tattooed on his shoulder," Bartolacci said. "He had no documents with him. We have already acquired the footage from security cameras."

The second robber who made off with the stolen cash is still on the run.

Judge Sheila Abdus-Salaam found Tango Uniform in Hudson River
[WAPO] Sheila Abdus-Salaam, the first African American to serve on New York’s top court and the first female Muslim judge in the United States, was found dead in the Hudson River Wednesday, police said. She was 65.

The body of Abdus-Salaam, a native of Washington, D.C., was found fully clothed in the river in Upper Manhattan at 1:45 p.m., a day after her husband had reported her missing, according to the New York Police Department. There were no signs of trauma or injury on the body, and the cause of death is still under investigation.

It is not yet known how Abdus-Salaam, who lived in Harlem, ended up in the river, or how long her body had been there. Her death shook the New York legal community, prompting responses from colleagues, judges and state and local political leaders.

British Steamer hits 100mph
[BBC] A steam train has reached 100mph on Britain's mainline rail network for the first time in 50 years.

The Peppercorn class A1 steam locomotive Tornado clocked the speed during a test run on the East Coast Main Line between Doncaster and Newcastle early on Wednesday morning.

The trip was part of a bid to raise Tornado's speed limit for passenger trips from 75mph to 90mph by the end of the year.

Tornado was the first steam locomotive to be built in the UK for almost half a century when it was completed in Darlington in 2008.

Thousands of people turned out to watch the locomotive when it operated regular services on the Settle to Carlisle line for three days in February.

This Sunday, April 9, 2017, image made from a video provided by Audra D. Bridges shows a passenger being removed from a United Airlines flight in Chicago. Video of police officers dragging the passenger from an overbooked United Airlines flight sparked an uproar Monday on social media, and a spokesman for the airline insisted that employees had no choice but to contact authorities to remove the man. "I'm glad none of you were yanked off your plane," Jimmy Kimmel started off his monologue on Monday night's show. "Have you seen that video of the guy getting dragged off a United flight?"

The talk show host went on to describe the horrifying incident when aviation police used physical force to yank a United passenger from an overbooked flight at Chicago O'Hara International Airport on Sunday.

Venezuela's Maduro pelted by angry crowd at rally
A parade in honour of former Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez’s Chavista movement, and attended by President Nicolas Maduro, was interrupted by critics who threw objects at the embattled leader in Bolivar state.

The rally event, purportedly attended by his supporters, turned into a public display of opposition directly targeting the South American president on Tuesday. It comes after days of violent opposition protests in the country’s cities in which two people have been killed.

As Maduro waved goodbye, standing in an open air caravan, he and his security detail were pelted by onlookers with what Venezuelan media are claiming were eggs. Maduro’s security flanked the president as the objects were thrown and state-controlled media outlets halted their broadcast of the event when the attack began.

At least five people were arrested following Tuesday’s rally for throwing “sharp objects” at Maduro. They are added to the at least 188 others, mostly students, who have been arrested earlier in April.

Man's body, seen tossed from plane, found on roof of Mexican hospital
[FOX] The body of a man, who witnesses said was tossed from a plane, landed on a hospital roof in Mexico's northern Sinaloa state on Wednesday, according to a public health service official in the region, which is home to notorious drug traffickers.

The body landed on the roof of an IMSS hospital in the town of Eldorado, around 7:30 a.m. local time, said the official, who was not authorized to give his name.

Witnesses standing outside the health center reported a plane flying low over the hospital and a person thrown out, the health official said.

He said two more bodies were reported to have been found in the town, which lies about 40 miles south of Culiacan, the state capital. Local media reported that those two bodies were thrown from the same plane as the body that landed on the hospital.

The official did not know if the man was alive when he was thrown from the plane. Officials from the state prosecutor's office were at the scene, he said.

The state prosecutor's office did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

Your parents are to blame. You were a racist at age six months.
Moved to Non-WoT.
And then relocated to bullshi*
[PHYS ORG] Two studies by researchers at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto and their collaborators from the US, UK, France and China, show that six- to nine-month-old infants demonstrate racial bias in favour of members of their own race and racial bias against those of other races.

In the first study, "Older but not younger infants associate own-race faces with happy music and other-race faces with sad music", published in Developmental Science, results showed that after six months of age, infants begin to associate own-race faces with happy music and other-race faces with sad music.

In the second study, "Infants rely more on gaze cues from own-race than other-race adults for learning under uncertainty", published in Child Development, researchers found that six- to eight-month-old infants were more inclined to learn information from an adult of his or her own race than from an adult of a different race.

(In both studies, infants less than six months of age were not found to show such biases).

#12  "In both studies, infants less than six months of age were not found to show such biases".

Do they even have proper vision at less than six months?

#13  Below the age of six months infants are not aware of strangers. After that inflection point they differentiate between people they know and everyone else. By eight months trailing daughter #1, whose short life had already held quite a few multi-week periods when Mr.Wife was on the far side of the world -- we accepted the transfer to Germany so that he would only be away about three days each week, and no more than one time zone away -- had clearly sorted the adult male population into Daddy, men with dark hair and mustaches who might be Daddy and therefore were promising targets, men with dark hair, and all other men. Women were sorted into Mommy, women she knew who were not Mommy, and all other women.

#14  How do these infants respond to "rap."

This Could Be the Army's Next-Gen Helicopter
[PM] The Joint Multi-Role helicopter program is a multi-service effort to replace many of the helicopters the armed services use with a new generation of helicopter--or helicopter-like aircraft. The UH-60 Blackhawk, for example, is used by the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard, while the CH-47 Chinook and the AH-64 Apache are used by the Army. All of the designs, while highly effective, date back to the 1960s and 1970s. The JMR program has several subprograms, with the Future Vertical Lift-Medium set to replace the UH-60 and AH-64 and the FVL-Heavy set to replace the CH-47.

Sikorsky Boeing's entrant for the FVL-Medium, the Defiant, got a boost this week with a new video that fleshes out some key details. The Defiant will have a top speed of 250+ knots air speed, which translates to 287 miles an hour. That's more than a hundred miles an hour faster than the UH-60M Blackhawk transport, which tops out at 183 miles an hour.

#1  And once again, everybody will sit on the sidelines while the Army pays for development, and then will say "We'll take some of those."

I love the UH-60, but it is time for an upgrade.

#3  I like the M2, but they haven't come up with something better and cost effective yet as a replacement (other than 'we just want something new and sexy').

#5  Dubbed the Sb>1 Defiant, the concept helicopter could replace the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter

I already don't like it.

#6  Joint Multi-Role helicopter

Oh great yet another all things to all people jack of all trades master of none function creep boondoggle. It's probably already several billion over budget.
