Suicide bomber kills 4 in Kabul attack on military bus
[Pak Daily Times] A Taliban jacket wallah went kaboom! near an Afghan military bus in Kabul on Sunday, killing four people in the latest attack in the Afghan capital in the final year of NATO

combat operations.
Two military officers and two civilians died when the bomber, who was on foot, targeted the bus taking defence ministry staff to work.

The attack followed an improvised bomb (IED) blast on Saturday evening in which two people were maimed and a massive suicide kaboom on a restaurant a week ago that killed 21 people, including 13 foreigners.

"There are four dead. Two civilians, one of them female, and two military officers. It was a suicide kaboom," defence ministry front man General Zahir Azimi said of Sunday's attack.

At least 22 people were also injured, including two other civilians, he added.

A Taliban front man using a recognised Twitter account grabbed credit for the blast in the southeast of the city shortly after 07:00 am.

The bully boyz claimed 27 Afghan troops had been killed or maimed, though they regularly exaggerate corpse counts after attacks.

The married couple was not hurt in the blast.

No group including the Taliban grabbed credit for the attack.

Puntland state forces withdraw from Galgala Mountains
[Shabelle] Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
army forces have withdrawn from the Galgala Mountains after they raided bases used by Alshabab wing of the Northern parts of Somalia.

The forces peacefully took over the bases used as training camps from the Alqaida affiliate in Puntland. The forces have now returned to Bosaso town the headquarter town of Bari region of Somalia.

Punt land state security minister told the press that they killed 3 Alshabab fighters and two of them sustained injuries however sources in the town told Shabelle radio that they have seen forces belonging to the Puntland forces who sustained injuries of different degrees during their arrival

Somali militant commander killed by missile in suspected drone attack
[Shabelle] A member of Somali rebel group al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
was killed Sunday by a missile fired by a suspected drone, a rebel commander said, blaming the U.S. for the strike.

Abu Mohammed told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that Sahal Iskudhuq, a myrmidon commander who was believed to be close to al-Shabaab's top leader, was killed when his car was hit by a missile in Somalia's Lower Shabelle region. The attack took place in a village called Hawai, he said.

A Somali intelligence official confirmed the attack, describing the victim as a "dangerous" myrmidon. His driver was also killed in the attack, the official said on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to reveal the information.

Mohammed blamed the attack on the U.S., which flies drones over Somalia that occasionally fire at one of al-Shabaab's top leaders.

Last October, a U.S. military strike hit a vehicle carrying senior members of the al-Qaeda-linked group, killing its top explosives expert. Earlier that month, U.S. Navy SEALs had raided a coastal Somali town to take down a Kenyan al-Shabaab member. The SEALs withdrew before capturing or killing their target -- Abdulkadir Mohammed Abdulkadir, known as Ikrima -- who was identified as the lead planner of a plot by al-Shabaab to attack Kenya's parliament building and the United Nations

office in capital, Nairobi, in 2011 and 2012.

Kenya has faced multiple attacks by the myrmidons, who want the country's military to leave Somalia. In September, the hard boyz attacked Nairobi's upscale Westgate Mall with guns and grenades, killing at least 67 people.

Al-Shabaab is now mostly active in Somalia's rural regions, after being ousted from the capital by African Union

forces in 2011. But the group is still able to launch lethal attacks-- often involving hard boyz on suicide missions --within Mogadishu, the seat of government.

Ajilat now quiet after "decisive" action by security forces
[Libya Herald] Calm returned to Ajilat today after fighting yesterday when security forces were deployed in an operation to crush remaining pockets of Qadaffy supporters as well as alleged criminal gangs.

The operation was described by Joint Security Force sources as "decisive" and the town is now said to be fully under the security forces' control.

Troubles broke out in the town eight days ago when after the Tamenhint airbase near Sebha was taken over by Qadaffy supporters, other pro-Qadaffy elements came out in Ajilat with green flags and pictures of the former dictator.

Yesterday's operation started at dawn and continued until nightfall. There were festivities in the areas of Tayariya, Al-Jadida and Shebika, which were combed by the security forces. Takbirs ("Allahu Akbar") could be heard from mosques in Ajilat and one inside the Al-Jadida area.

Sources from nearby Sabratha hospital said that it had received seven maimed members of the security forces as well as the bodies of five Qadaffy supporters. Several others were reported tossed in the slammer

Sebha death toll put at 99 as town still waits for military reinforcements
[Libya Herald] The situation in Sebha is calm at present according to the head of the local council but no troops have arrived there. The corpse count in communal festivities over the past fortnight is being put at 99, with 139 maimed.

Sebha Council leader Ayoub Alzaroug, told the Libya Herald today that situation was calm but tense as residents awaited the arrival of security forces. No troops had come from any part of the country so far, he said.

Yesterday, Sebha's military commander, Mohammed Al-Busaify, also denied reports from LANA that forces had arrived in the strife-torn southern regional capital.

According to the official front man for the General Chief of Staff, Ali Alshaikhi, forces -- mainly Misratan -- that are supposed to be deployed in Sebha were still in Jufra. The reason why they had not yet moved was "classified", he told this paper today today.

The figure of 99 died and 139 maimed was confirmed by Sebha Central Hospital staff member Abdallah Owheda. He added that the children's section remained closed due to the lack of specialist staff and the maternity section was facing a severe shortage of equipment.

The United Nations

about the number of people who have been forced to leave their homes in an around Sebha because of the clashed. Its Humanitarian Coordinator in Libya, Georg Charpentier, said that hundreds of families had been displaced, causing an additional burden to those who had taken them in and to medical services in the region.

"Some relief assistance is being provided mainly by local and central authorities with support from the UN Agencies and other national and international humanitarian partners," Charpentier said today. This included non-food items, food supplies, and medicines for hospitals. More would be delivered in the next 48 hours "accompanied by a UN team who will meet with representatives of the population, listen to their grievances and support the ongoing humanitarian efforts".

As a result of the festivities, the UN said, the south was suffering from shortages of food supplies, medicine, fuel and money in the banks, and hospitals in Sebha, Obari and Murzuk were finding it difficult to treat all the casualties.

Charpentier called on all sides to end the violence and guarantee the protection of civilians as well as allow the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian support and ensure that assistance goes to all that need it.

Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis claims responsibility for military helicopter crash and attacks
[Egypt Independent] Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis grabbed credit Sunday for a helicopter crash in North Sinai on Saturday.

Five military personnel were killed when a military helicopter crashed in the Sinai Peninsula Saturday, AFP reported in breaking news, quoting medical sources.

The statement attributed to Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis said they targeted the aircraft using a missile near Sheikh Zuwayed, Saturday, killing the crew.

The statement also grabbed credit for an attack on a camp using shells in al-Zohour neighborhood in Sheikh Zuwayed, as well as an attack on three security checkpoints on Sunday morning using a RPG.

The group clashed with security forces around al-Joura Airport and killed a soldier at al-Kharouba checkpoint, according to the statement.

The statement mentioned that another group dubbed Agnad Misr (Egypt's Soldiers) carried out a bombing that targeted a police patrol belonging to al-Talebeya Police Station in Cairo. It apologized for claiming responsibility for recent bombings in Cairo by mistake, saying confusion occurred because Agnad Misr operated in the vicinity of Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis's activity in Cairo.

The statement said Agnad Misr carried out a bombing on Friday near a metro station in Cairo and that each group carried out an operation against Talebeya Police Station.

Arabia
Security officer is gunned down in Hadhramawt
[Yemen Post] A day after Yemen President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi announced the official end of the National Dialogue Conference, calling on all Yemenis to rally around their officials as to successfully usher the country through the last stage of its power transition, security officials confirmed that yet another of their officers had been bumped off in the south-eastern province of Hadhramawt.

Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Amir al-Mahthouthi, a senior officer in the investigative branch of state security was killed by alleged Islamic gunnies as he was leaving his residence. In typical al-Qaeda style the unidentified armed escaped on cycle of violences.

Al-Qaeda turbans have for the past two years waged war against Yemen intelligence and security officials in a bid to derail the impoverished nation's anti-terror efforts.

Assassinations have become somewhat of an occupational hazards over the past few months in Yemen' southern region as terror turbans have significantly increased the frequency of their attacks against officers. But more troubling yet, it is al-Qaeda's daring attacks against military outposts and positions which have caused security experts to question the terror group's military power.

Despite having been driven out of the southern province of Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
in 2012, where terror turbans had managed to establish strongholds, the group seem to have literally grown from strength to strength. In the course of a year al-Qaeda had proven it could carry successful strikes against Yemen military.

Labelled the most dangerous terror branch in the region, al-Qaeda Yemen has proven to be a tough adversary.

Body of Iran's kidnapped diplomat found in Marib
[Yemen Post] Local officials in the southern province of Marib told news hounds under cover of anonymity this Saturday that locals had found the beheaded body of Iran's kidnapped diplomat, half buried in the desert.

"The body was half-buried in a desert area in Eastern Marib," a security source told Anadolu Agency.

The mutilated body, which is important to say has yet to be identified by the authorities, was found in an area known as Safer in the Marib province. A preliminary report established that the body was killed a day ago.

Should indeed the autopsy confirm that the murdered body is Iran diplomat, Nour Ahmad Nikbakht, Yemen would face the difficult task of explaining an already bereft Tehran that yet another of its diplomat was brutally murdered in Yemen.

Only last week, Abolqasem Assadi, was rubbed out by armed Death Eaters as he was leaving Iran Ambassador's residence in the Yemeni capital, Sana'a. Authorities have alleged so far that the alleged al-Qaeda Death Eaters had attempted to kidnap him, stressing that his killing had been accidental. Whether or not it was the case, Iran has called on Yemen to bring the culprits to justice and honour its legal duty by guaranteeing the safety of all foreign diplomats while on its territory.

Plagued by insecurity, Yemen coalition government has been unable so far to establish order, not even in its capital, Sana'a. As per reported by officials in the Interior Ministry, tribal militias have increasingly been seen roaming the streets of Sana'a completely oblivious of the police.

With two Iranian diplomats dead, Tehran will most certainly consider the possibility of a vendetta.

Bangladesh
3 Jamaat-Shibir men killed in 'gunfight'
[Dhaka Tribune] Three people -- two of them Islami Chhatra Shibir
... the student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh...
activists, and the other a Jamaat leader -- were killed in "shootouts" with joint forces in Satkhira and Jhenidah early yesterday.

The law enforcement agencies said three sub-inspectors and three constables were also hurt in the fights.

The dear departed were Enamul Haque, 50, the secretary for Financial Affairs of Jamaat's Kotchandpur upazila unit (killed in Jhenaidah); Abul Kalam, 22, secretary of Shibir's Debhata upazila unit, and Maruf alias Choto, 23 (both killed in Satkhira).

Police claimed Maruf was the member of a Shibir suicide squad.

Satkhira police said Kalam, son of Akbar Ali of Kulia village under Debhata in the district, was accused in at least 10 cases, including a murder case.

Tarek Biswas, officer-in-charge of Debhata cop shoppe, said cases against him were filed in connection with the violence unleashed in February last year by Jamaat-Shibir after the verdict against Sayeedi.

The men were also accused of killing Abu Raihan, organising secretary of Awami League's Debhata upazila unit, who was killed on November 21 last year.

Maruf was accused in nine violence related cases, including a murder case.

Police placed in durance vile
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
Kalam and Maruf from their village on Saturday around 9pm. Then, after getting the information from the arrestees, police, with the members of other forces, raided different places in Debhata to apprehend their accomplices.

The Debhata police officer claimed: "When joint forces along with the accused neared the house of Ziaur Rahman, alias Zia, an Afghanistan war veteran, at Narkeli village around 5:30am, a number of Jamaat-Shibir cordoned them; the mob fired around 50 bullets and hurled 15 bombs at the joint force trying to snatch the arrestees."

Then, in self-defence, members of the joint force started firing back, creating a 15-minute-long shootout.

The officer added that Kalam and Maruf sustained bullet wounds, and were rushed to Debhata Upazila Health Complex, and then to Sadar Hospital as their condition deteriorated. Doctors declared them dead around 6:50am.

He claimed that two constables and one SI sustained minor injuries during the shootout.

Shahjahan Khan, officer-in-charge of Kotchandpur cop shoppe, said the Jhenaidah Jamaat leader was accused in a number of cases filed in connection with recent violence staged by the Jamaat-Shibir men in Kotchandpur upazila.

Police said he was one of the main people accused of attacking police and snatching their arms, on February 2013, immediately after the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayeedi
...Islamic orator and politician. He was a former Member of Parliament in the National Assembly of Bangladesh from 1996 to 2008, and is one of the most prominent leaders of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami...
to die in a war crimes case.

Police said Enamul was also involved in cutting down government trees, blocking roads and torching polling centers during the polls on January 5.

The Jhenaidah shootout took place at Nawdagram Secondary School grounds in Kotchandpur upazila.

The police officer said, acting on a tip-off, joint forces came to know that some criminals were holding a secret meeting in the dead of night, and went to conduct a raid around 2am.

He added: "Sensing our presence, Jamaat-Shibir men fired 10 bullets and hurled three bombs. The forces fired back, creating a 20-minute shootout."

Enamul Haque, who was in the meeting, led the attack. He was hit by a bullet, he said.

Sub-inspectors Mijanur Rahman, Moktar Hossain, and constable Joydev sustained injuries during the shootout, added the officer.

Police recovered a shuttered gun and two bombs from the scene, after the attackers had fled.

Kotchandpur upazila ameer of Jamaat, Tajul Islam, said police arrested Haque while he was returning home from his Nirbahi upazila office around 4pm on Saturday.

Gunmen kill Hindu temple guard in Peshawar
[DAWN] Two gunnies in the northwestern Pak city of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.

The attack, which occurred in the downtown Jhanda Bazar area, was the latest target connected to Pakistain's minorities who make up some two per cent of the country's population of 180 million.

"It appears to be a Death Eater attack. The gunnies killed the lone policeman on duty outside the Hindu temple and then escaped," Faisal Mukhtar, a senior police official, told AFP.

Hindus are thought to number a few thousand in Peshawar, Pakistain's frontline city in its battle against al Qaeda and Talibs, though the community is rarely targeted.

In November last year, a policeman standing guard outside a Pentecostal church in Peshawar was also rubbed out by unknown gunnies.

In September, devastating double suicide kabooms at the historic All Saints church in the main city area of Peshawar left 82 people dead.

Policeman linked to 92 operation shot dead
[DAWN] Another police officer who took part in the 1992 Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
operation was bumped off in a targeted attack in the city on Saturday.

With the latest shooting, the number of coppers killed in the city only this month rose to 17, according to officials.

Sub-Inspector Sabir Ali was sprayed with bullets at a hairdressing salon in Surjani Town, the area police said.

They added that the police officer left his residence in Surjani Town's Sector 35-B to have a shave at the salon when two gunnies riding a cycle of violence pulled up there. They fired multiple shots at him and fled, the police said.

The maimed officer, who was in plainclothes, was rushed to a nearby private hospital where doctors pronounced him dead
He's dead, Jim!
on arrival, they added.

Later, the body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The police Sherlocks found nine spent bullet casings fired from a 9mm pistol at the crime-scene.

SI Ali was posted in Muhafiz Force at the Hassan Square police headquarters, said Surjani SHO Bashir Ahmed.

"The police Sherlocks were focusing on two aspects of the murder," said SSP District West Irfan Baloch.

He said the victim had taken part in the 1992 operation and many of the officials associated with the operation had been killed in the past. Besides, he added, gunnies enjoyed significant influence in the locality where the incident took place and the possibility of their involvement in the attack could not be ruled out.

The murder of the police officer prompted the police authorities to initiate a targeted operation in Surjani's Sector 35-B during which some suspects were rounded up for interrogation, officials said.

Iraq
Militants 'Capture Soldiers' as Iraq Unrest Kills 13
[An Nahar] Militants appeared to have captured at least five Iraqi soldiers near Fallujah Sunday, according to witnesses and online videos, as 13 people were killed elsewhere amid a nationwide surge in unrest.

The latest deaths push to more than 850 the number of people killed this month in Iraq, where authorities are grappling with a deadly standoff in Anbar province and a surge in nationwide bloodshed.

Diplomats and foreign leaders have urged the Shiite-led government to pursue political reconciliation with disaffected minority Sunnis to undercut support for bully boys, but with elections looming in April, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki
... Prime Minister of Iraq and the secretary-general of the Islamic Dawa Party....
has taken a hard line.

On Sunday, witnesses said between five and 22 soldiers, were captured by anti-government fighters who also seized several military vehicles.

The alleged operations were shown in videos posted on the YouTube, but their authenticity could not be immediately verified

According to witnesses, anti-government fighters attacked a small military outpost on the outskirts of Fallujah in the morning, forcing some soldiers to retreat while others gave themselves up.

One video shows five men dressed in Iraqi army uniforms sitting in the back of a pick-up truck as onlookers crowd around them.

The men hoist a black flag akin to those often flown by jihadists and shout slogans in support of the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
... the current version of al-Qaeda in Iraq, just as blood-thirsty and well-beloved as the original...
(ISIL).

Another video shows bully boyz driving two Iraqi army Humvees as Fallujah residents look on.

Witnesses said as many as six Humvees were seized, and that three were set ablaze.

The latest unrest marks another setback for Iraqi forces who have struggled to wrest back control of Fallujah and parts of nearby Ramadi that have been out of government control for weeks.

Security forces have also been locked in deadly battles in Ramadi, where bully boyz hold several neighborhoods, and have carried out operations in rural areas between the two cities.

ISIL has been involved in the fighting, and witnesses and tribal leaders in Fallujah say the group has tightened its grip on the city in recent days, but other bully boy groups and anti-government fighters have also been involved in battles with security forces.

Also in Fallujah on Sunday, a mother and her three children were killed in a blast at their home in the south of the city in the early hours of the morning, Dr. Ahmed Shami said.

It was unclear if heavy artillery or smaller rockets were responsible for the blast.

For weeks, Fallujah and parts of Ramadi have been in the hands of anti-government fighters, some of them from ISIL.

It is the first time bully boyz have exercised such open control in Iraqi cities since the peak of the violence that followed the 2003 U.S.-led invasion.

The protracted standoff has forced more than 140,000 people from their homes according to the U.N. refugee agency, which has described it as the worst displacement in Iraq since the 2006-08 sectarian conflict.

Elsewhere in Iraq, nine people were killed in gun and kabooms, officials said.

Three apparently coordinated boom-mobiles struck Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
a disputed ethnically-mixed city in north Iraq, killing four people. Attacks in and around Storied Baghdad
...located along the Tigris River, founded in the 8th century, home of the Abbasid Caliphate...
left four more dead, including a former army general.

In the main northern city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, a tribal leader was bumped off in his car.

The latest bloodshed pushed the overall corpse count for the month above 850 -- more than three times the toll for January 2013, according to an Agence La Belle France Presse tally.

Hizbullah Taking Extraordinary Security Measures in Dahieh
[An Nahar] Hizbullah has started taking extraordinary security measures in its stronghold of Dahieh in Beirut's southern suburbs in light of recent attacks in the area, reported the Kuwaiti daily al-Anba on Sunday.

As part of these measures, members of the party closed off a number of roads leading to the area, limiting access to Dahieh to a few routes.

It also moved a number of its offices and residences of its officials to areas outside of Dahieh, revealed the daily.

Sources monitoring the situation stressed that Hizbullah's leadership is following up on the security file and efforts to confront groups behind the kabooms in Dahieh.

The party has "detailed information about the groups that are seeking to pressure Hizbullah's support base in order to force it to alter its stances," they explained.

Moreover, Hizbullah has recently set up three military councils that are independent of each other.

One tackles the situation in Syria, the second focuses on the front with Israel, while the third addresses Lebanese affairs, said the daily.

A number of bombings had taken place in recent months in Dahieh.

Four people were killed in the latest suicide kaboom that took place in the Haret Hreik neighborhood on Tuesday.

Al-Nusra Front had warned that these attacks are a response to the party's fighting in the conflict in Syria alongside the country's ruling regime.

Sheikh Abbas Zgheib Accidentally Injured in Dahieh Armed Dispute
[An Nahar] Sheikh Abbas Zgheib was maimed by gunshots on Saturday evening in a shooting in Beirut's southern suburbs of Dahieh, the state-run National News agency reported.

"Zgheib was maimed by accident when an armed individual dispute erupted in al-Laylaki area in Dahieh," the NNA detailed, noting that he was injured in the shoulder and in the back of his head.

"The Sheikh is in a stable condition and is fully conscious," Zgheib's relatives assured NNA.

Al-Manar television remarked that his injuries are minor and that he will be released from hospital shortly.

The NNA added: "Zgheib's companion Ali Hajjoul was also injured in the shooting."

Al-Jadeed television noted that Hajjoul is gravely maimed.

Zgheib was tasked by the Higher Islamic Shiite Council to follow up on the case of the kidnapped Lebanese pilgrims in Syria's Aazaz.

Abu Sayyaf Al-Ansari Pledges Allegiance to ISIL from Tripoli
[An Nahar] Abu Sayyaf al-Ansari on Saturday pledged from the northern city of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
allegiance to the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
... the current version of al-Qaeda in Iraq, just as blood-thirsty and well-beloved as the original...
, calling on Sunnis enlisted in the army to defect and "repent."

"After the expansion of the Islamic mission from Iraq to the Levant, and its adoption of a correct path that could not be weakened or misrepresented by the decedents of Al Saloul, who are supported by the United States and by the crusaders, we decided from Tripoli to pledge allegiance to ISIL and to ally with it," al-Ansari said in a video recording.

"We also vow allegiance to Abu Bakr (al-Baghdadi, the Iraqi leader of ISIL) and we will be their gate to Leb and the Kingdom of Jerusalem," he added, revealing that they suggested reviving cells that belong to the ISIL in the country to continue "calling for jihadism."

He explained the decision: "We only became active because the Islamic nation is losing its determination and is being shaken by the disloyalty of the Lebanese crusaders, who are endorsed by Hizbullah."

"But the heroes of the 'Abdullah Azzam Brigades
... Leb's current al-Qaeda affiliate, named after a guy whose car the current head of al-Qaeda had boomed...
' tortured the defectors in general and the supporters of Iran in particular, who announced their war against Sunnis and we took our decision after we referred to a Koranic verse that allows the vulnerable that are being attacked to fight back ."

Al-Ansari continued: "We could not handle the whoredum of the devil's party (Hizbullah) at the expense of the Sunnis in Leb and crusaders' media campaigns portrayed us as krazed killers, forces of Evil that only cause destruction and chaos."

Addressing Sunnis in Leb, he said: "We tell you we are your brothers, sons and servants and we assault the unbelievers with you so do not forget to be prepared."

He also warned the Sheikhs in general and the members of the Committee of Mohammedan Ulemas in particular, urging them to endorse him.

"We demand you not to stab us in the back after we entrusted you with your lives," he expressed.

"We ask for your advice and recommendation when we commit mistakes."

He also called on Sunnis "incorrectly enlisted in the crusaders's army to fear God and to repent."

"You are our brothers, and we urge you not to become a knife used by Christians and defectors to stab us with in the back."

He remarked that this video recording is only a message that will be followed by a speech from ISIL's spokesperson in Leb Abu Omar al-Mohajer.

Army Intelligence Detains Man Involved in Latest Haret Hreik Bombing
[An Nahar] The army intelligence detained Khaled al-Satem for his suspicious links with the perpetrators who carried out the recent bombing in the Beirut's southern suburbs neighborhood of Haret Hreik, media reports said on Saturday.

According to state-run National News Agency, al-Satem was detained by army intelligence on Friday night at Deir Ammar checkpoint.

According to media reports, investigations are underway with al-Satem.

The relatives of al-Satem stressed that khaled isn't involved in any of the security incidents in the country, pointing out that he's a taxi driver.

LBCI said that the family had informed the army intelligence that Khaled had disappeared.

Al-Jadeed TV reported that al-Satem was detained at a checkpoint for Hizbullah and handed over to the Lebanese army.

Al-Satem is a relative of Qutaiba Mohammed al-Satem, who is allegedly behind the bombing that targeted the same area on January 2.

A jacket wallah killed four people in Haret Hreik on Tuesday, in the latest in a string of attacks targeting strongholds of Hizbullah.

The blast was quickly claimed by Al-Nusra Front in Leb, a group believed to be linked to al-Qaeda's Syrian arm.

The blast was the third to hit Leb this month, coming after a boom-mobile in the northern town of Hermel and an earlier bombing that also targeted Haret Hreik.

DNA testing had confirmed that the January 2nd bombing was carried out by Qutaiba, who hails from Wadi Khaled resident in the northern district of Akkar.

Al-Nusra Front, Marwan al-Hadidi Brigades Claim Targeting Hermel with Rockets
[An Nahar] Al-Nusra Front and Marwan al-Hadidi Brigades claimed on Saturday the responsibility for targeting the Bekaa region of Hermel with seven rockets.

The two myrmidon groups claimed the attack via twitter.

Marwan al-Hadid Brigades is linked to Abdullah Azzam Brigades
... Leb's current al-Qaeda affiliate, named after a guy whose car the current head of al-Qaeda had boomed...
, al-Qaeda-affiliate.

Earlier, the state-run National News Agency reported that rockets fired from Leb's eastern mountain range landed Hermel.

The news agency didn't specify the number of rockets that hit the area.

The incident comes a day after four rockets hit the area causing no casualties but material damage only.

Syrian rebel fighters have grabbed credit for firing many of the numerous rockets that have recently landed in Hermel.

Violence Rages on Damascus Edges as Jihadists, Kurds Clash in Northeast
[An Nahar] Syrian rebels and government troops clashed Sunday in restive districts of Damascus, a monitoring group said, as representatives of the warring sides met for peace talks in Geneva.

"Fierce fighting raged between rebels and troops in Jobar (in eastern Damascus) and the Port Said area of Qadam (in the south)," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

A rebel mortar round hit the city's central Qassaa district, wounding seven people, state news agency SANA reported.

Meanwhile troops pounded opposition-held Douma northeast of the capital, the Britannia-based Observatory said.

It also reported the choking siege of the Yarmuk Paleostinian camp in southern Damascus by regime troops claimed six more lives Sunday because of food and medical shortages.

Fighting inside Syria has continued unabated as opposition and regime representatives meeting in Geneva discussed ways for aid to reach besieged rebel-held areas, especially in the central city of Homs.

U.N.-Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
envoy Lakhdar Brahimi, who is mediating the Geneva talks, said the Syrian regime has agreed to allow women and kiddies trapped in besieged areas of Homs to leave.

In what appeared to be a significant breakthrough, the authorities have also agreed to allow humanitarian aid convoys in, as soon as Monday.

Hundreds of families in the Old City have lived under siege for nearly 600 days with frequent shelling and very limited supplies.

"We are calling for significant amounts of food and medical supplies, and for guarantees that women, children and maimed people evacuated from Homs' besieged areas will not be detained," said Abu Rami, front man for the Syrian Revolution General Commission in Homs.

"We asked for 60 tons of flour and some 40 tons of food. In conversations yesterday, they offered us 500 bags and 500 baskets... If we get too little food, you'll have people killing each other for it. People are hungry here," Abu Rami added, speaking to Agence La Belle France Presse via Skype from the besieged areas.

"We have no trust in the regime and we want guarantees, either from the U.N. or the International Committee of the Red Thingy," he added.

Aleppo, once Syria's commercial capital and now ravaged by nearly 18 months of all-out war, also saw fresh violence Sunday.

According to reports cited by the Observatory, a 15-year-old boy was rubbed out by an army sniper in the divided city.

His death came a day after 18 people, among them six children, were killed in an air strike targeting another opposition-held district, the Observatory added.

In the northeast, 26 fighters were killed in battles between Islamists, including the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
... the current version of al-Qaeda in Iraq, just as blood-thirsty and well-beloved as the original...
(ISIL), and Kurds near Ras al-Ain, a majority Kurdish town, said the group.

Kurds have fought fierce battles against myrmidon opposition groups.

ISIL sees the Kurds as "heretics" and an obstacle to setting up an Islamic "caliphate" stretching from Iraq to Syria.

In other parts of Syria, rebels including Islamists have been fighting ISIL for three weeks.

Syria's Kurds this week named a municipal council for one of the three majority-Kurdish regions, two months after they declared self-rule.

The Observatory, meanwhile, distributed video showing dozens of bodies, which monitor director Rami Abdel Rahman said were of rebels killed in an ambush on January 19 by Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah in Adra, near Damascus.

The regime has previously accused rebels of killing civilians in the flashpoint area which lies at a strategic entrance to the capital.
