Afghanistan
2 Kids Killed as Father Refuses to Join Insurgents
[Tolo News] Two schoolchildren including a nine-year-old girl have been rubbed out by hard boyz in Afghanistan after their father refused to quit his job as a policeman, officials say.

Henna and her 16-year-old brother Zelgai were killed by two gunnies on cycle of violences late on Saturday while in their father's car in the Edgah area of Ghazni province, in the south of the country.

"They were playing inside my car, and the Taliban maybe thought it was me in the car. They shot up the car and killed my children," the father, Zalmai, who uses just one name, said on Sunday.

He said the Taliban had warned him several times in the past that his family would be at risk if he did not leave his job.

"The children were killed by Taliban because their father is a policeman working for Ghazni's municipality," provincial front man Fazil Sabawoon said, blaming hardline Islamist cut-throats for the attack.

"They had warned him to leave his job as police and join them," he added.

A witness, Hamidullah, said two gunnies on cycle of violences shot up the vehicle the children were in and fled the area.

Suspects in Darfur Peacekeeper Killings Detained
[An Nahar] Sudanese authorities have tossed in the slammer

suspects in the killings of four Nigerian peacekeepers in Darfur, state radio said on Tuesday, after U.N. chief the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon
... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan...
urged swift justice in the case.

"The authorities tossed in the clink

Mission in Darfur) near El-Geneina, in West Darfur," Radio Omdurman reported in an SMS news alert which gave no more details.

The Sudanese Media Center, which is close to the security apparatus, issued a similar brief report.

U.N. sources say the attack on October 2 was the deadliest in UNAMID's nearly five-year history.

Ban was "appalled and deeply saddened" by the ambush, his front man Martin Nesirky said last week.

"The secretary general urges the government of the Sudan to conduct a full investigation and to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice," Nesirky said.

The U.N. has regularly made such calls after the deaths of peacekeepers in Darfur, and has called such attacks a war crime.

But U.N. sources told Agence La Belle France Presse earlier Tuesday that they were unaware of anybody being brought to justice in Sudan for killing a peacekeeper.

The deaths of the Nigerians brought to 42 the number of UNAMID members killed in hostile action.

(Sh.M.Network)-- At least two people were killed and five others injured in a huge roadside kaboom kaboom inn Somalia's southern port city of Kismayo, the latest in series of attacks against Somali and Kenyan forces, reports said.

Tuesday's attack took place at Alanley village, targeting Somali government forces as they were carrying out massive operations aimed to secure the city, after the Al Qaeda-linked Al shabab bully boyz vacated.

"The kaboom was a remote controlled land-mine that hit on a vehicle carrying soldiers from Somali government and their Raskomboni militia fighters. At least two soldiers dead following the blast," a resident who asked not to be named, told Shabelle Media Network by phone.

No group has yet claimed the responsibility for the attack.

In the aftermath of the attack, the situation of the city has returned to normal and public movement and transportations are up and running.

[An Nahar] Al-Qaeda in Yemen has beheaded three Yemenis in the country's eastern province of Marib, accusing them of "spying" for the government, the ministry of defense said on Tuesday.

Caribbean-Latin America
Body of Mexican Druglord Stolen from Funeral Home
[An Nahar] A major coup for the Mexican authorities turned to embarrassment on Tuesday, when it emerged that the body of the slain leader of the Zetas narco mob had been stolen from a funeral parlor.

Heriberto Lazcano's corpse and that of another man were taken to a funeral home in the town of Sabinas in the northern state of Coahuila shortly after they were killed in a shootout on Sunday with naval special forces.

But a gang of heavily-gunnies wearing face masks later entered the parlor and subdued the staff, Coahuila state prosecutor Homero Ramos told a presser in Sabinas.

"They took the bodies, stuck them in a hearse and made the owner drive it off," Ramos said.

The Mexican navy, which conducted the operation against the Zetas leader, said fingerprints and photographs had been used to identify the body as Lazcano's before it was stolen.

"The facial features coincide with those of Herberto Lazacano," the Navy said in a statement, adding that experts were still examining "information and samples taken during the autopsy."

Officials said Lazcano and another man, identified as Mario Alberto Rodriguez, were killed at a baseball field near the Coahuila town of Progreso when the van they were in came under fire from Navy troops.

One man was behind the wheel when he was killed and the other was shot as he tried to flee, Ramos said, without clarifying further.

Lazcano, aka "El Lazca," was one of two main leaders of the divided Zetas cartel and one of Mexico's most desperados with a $2.6 million reward on his head. The United States had set its own award at $5 million.

U.S. authorities say the Zetas are one of Mexico's most powerful narco gangs alongside the Pacific region's Sinaloa federation, led by runaway billionaire Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.

Much of the northeast is in the clutches of the Zetas cartel, which was founded by former Mexican special forces soldiers who went rogue and is known to decapitate and dismember enemies.

The Zetas were originally hired as enforcers for the Gulf Cartel but turned on their employers and have fought them for control of lucrative drug routes to the United States.

Mexican federal prosecutors have said Lazcano broke with the other Zetas leader, Miguel Trevino Morales, aka "Z-40," leading to a schism in the cartel.

Authorities announced Monday the arrest of the Zetas commander believed to have ordered the massacre of 72 undocumented Democrats whose bodies were found in San Fernando, Tamaulipas in August 2010.

Salvador Alfonso Martinez Escobedo was presented to the press by the Mexican navy along with five alleged accomplices. They were captured Saturday in Nuevo Laredo, a border city in the northern state of Tamaulipas.

Known as "Comandante Ardilla," Martinez is suspected of involvement in the murder of an American, David Hartley, in September 2010
See details of Mr. Hartley's story here.
and the killing of a police commander who was investigating the crime.

Martinez, who worked for Morales, is also accused of criminal masterminding the escape of 141 inmates from a prison in Tamaulipas in December 2010 and another jail break last month by 131 inmates from a penitentiary in Coahuila.

He is also being linked to other mass graves found in Tamaulipas -- containing more than 200 bodies -- and the executions of more than 50 other people nationwide.

French Police Find Bomb Material In Parking Lot
[Ynet] Authorities continue large-scale operation to crack down on hard boyz launched in wake of anti-Semite assaults

French police who broke up a suspected terrorist cell have discovered bomb-making material in an enclosed parking lot in suburban Gay Paree, the state prosecutor said Wednesday.

Francois Molins said police Sherlocks recovered items including potassium, sulfur, saltpeter and a pressure cooker as well as two weapons in the lot in the town of Torcy, east of Gay Paree.

They were led there by information from interrogations carried out since the arrest of a dozen suspects in cities across La Belle France at the weekend, he said, adding that authorities are extending the detention of the suspects for 24 hours beyond the normal limit of 96 hours because of the seriousness of the case.

"We can say that we are clearly and objectively facing an extremely dangerous terrorist cell," Molins said. He added that it was only the second time since 2006 that the law allowing the extension of custody in such circumstances had been invoked.

The weekend arrests - during which one suspect was killed by police who returned fire after he shot at them - were put in motion by evidence gathered following the Molotov cocktailing of a kosher grocery story in suburban Gay Paree in September.

Police found weapons, cash and a list of Gay Paree-area Israeli associations during the raids.
It remains uncertain whether those suspected of directly carrying out the grocery store attack have actually been apprehended.

Molins said at the time that all the set to sit in solemn silence in a dull, dark dock, in a pestilential prison with a life-long lock
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
suspects were French and recent converts to Islam. Four of the men involved in the raid had written wills. One was carrying a loaded gun when set to sit in solemn silence in a dull, dark dock, in a pestilential prison with a life-long lock

Karachi: Eight dead, three in sectarian attacks
[Dawn] Eight persons were killed, including three bumped off in sectarian attacks, across the city on Monday, police said.

They said that in the morning a young man was bumped off near New Urdu Bazaar in Nazimabad No 1 within the remit of the Rizvia cop shoppe.

Syed Qamber Naqvi was passing through the area on a cycle of violence when assailants, also riding a cycle of violence, targeted him and rode away.
He suffered three bullet wounds and was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died during treatment.

Area DSP Rustam Khattak said that the victim was a resident of Jafria Colony, Gulbahar and at the time of the incident he was going to his cellphone shop in Hydri Market.

"The victim was not affiliated with any political party and the killing appears to be a result of ongoing sectarian strife," the DSP said.

He said that the victim's brother, Syed Salman Naqvi, was also killed in a similar attack about a year back.

A leader of the Majlis-e-Wahada-e-Moslemeen, Maulana Sadiq Raza Taqvi, said that the victim was a member of the organization.

Following the killing shops and markets in Rizvia Society and Golimar were closed.

The funeral prayer of the victim was offered at Jafria Imambargah in Gulbahar and he was laid to rest in a local graveyard.

Key witness killed in 'sectarian' attack

Police said that Syed Muneer Hussain Zaidi, 24, was standing at a bus stop in Mehmoodabad No 1 when gunnies riding a cycle of violence opened fire on him and escaped. The victim suffered two bullet wounds in the face and was struck down in his prime.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Area SHO Raja Tanveer said that the victim was a nephew of Nayyar Zaidi, who was killed some two years back in Ferozabad. "The victim was the only witness of his uncle's killing as at the time of the killing he was accompanying him."

He said that the killing appeared to have been carried out on sectarian grounds.

Police said that the body was found in North Nazimabad's Block S near a graveyard within the remit of the Shahrah-e-Noor Jehan cop shoppe.

The victim had been shot multiple times.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where, according to area SHO Raja Tariq, he was identified as Javed Sultan, 22, a resident of the same area.

The victim had been kidnapped some four days back and a report regarding his disappearance was lodged at the cop shoppe by the victim's brother, he said.

The police said that he was not affiliated with any political or religious party. He originally hailed from Swat.

The perforated carcass of an unidentified man was found in the old city area on Monday.

Police said that body was found near the Arambagh furniture market. The trussed-up body bore torture marks and the victim had been shot twice in the head. A piece of cloth was also found stuffed in his mouth.

They said that four spent bullet casings of 9mm pistol were found from the scene of the crime, which suggested that the victim was shot on the spot.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital from where the body was taken to the Edhi morgue for identification.

Factory worker rubbed out

A factory worker was killed in the SITE area on Monday, police said.

They said that Anwar Hussain, 40, was heading home from his workplace when gunnies wearing helmets and riding a cycle of violence opened fire on him within the remit of the SITE-A cop shoppe. He suffered a bullet wound in the head and was struck down in his prime.

The police shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The victim was a resident of Madina Colony in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, area SHO Rao Rafique said.

Man booked for killing wife

A woman was rubbed out in her house in North Nazimabad's DeSilva Town on Monday.

Police said that a man, Khalid, allegedly rubbed out his 27-year-old wife, Saima, following an altercation.

They said that initially the family told the police that Saima was sleeping at the roof of her house when a stray bullet hit her causing her death. However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
when police grilled the family and cooled for a few years
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
her husband for questioning, he confessed to having killed his wife, said a duty officer at the Shahrah-e-Noor Jehan cop shoppe.

The police said that Khalid had some suspicion on his wife's character. He was cooled for a few years
Please don't kill me!
and a murder case was registered against him, they added.

Ex-PNSC employee strangulated

The body of an elderly man was found in his house in Malir Monday. Police said that the trussed-up body was found on the first floor of his house within the remit of the Malir City cop shoppe.

They said that the victim was identified as Munawar Ali, 60.

His family told the police that two women and a man came to his house to see him. They had gone to the first floor of the house and when they left the victim did not come downstairs. However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
the victim's grandchildren found him dead when they went upstairs to see him. They informed the police about the incident.

The body was shifted to the JPMC for a post-mortem examination. The victim was strangulated. He was a retired employee of the Pakistain National Shipping Corporation, the police added.

Seven more slain in southern Thailand
Seven people, including two military rangers, have been killed in separate incidents in the country's southernmost provinces. The spate of fatal attacks on security officers and civilians occurred just after three defense volunteers were gunned down in Pattani on their way back from a security meeting on Monday.

Of the latest seven victims, five were were killed in Pattani, while the two rangers were killed in Narathiwat.

The first of the latest series of attacks took place late on Monday night in Pattani province when a couple were gunned down on a local road. The victims - Supachai Chuaysen, 27, and Sirikwan Saengthong, 24 - were riding a motorcycle from their village to the downtown area.

Witnesses said that a gunman riding pillion on a motorcycle shot the woman first before firing at the man. After the man fell from the motorcycle, the attacker walked up to him and shot him again in the head.

At 4:20 a.m. yesterday, two rubber tappers were gunned down in an ambush on a road near a rubber plantation. They were identified as Phon Phetsorn and his wife Nit, both 65.

Witnesses said the couple were traveling on a motorcycle to their rubber plantation when gunmen hiding in a roadside forest fired on them with an assault rifle and a handgun. The attackers then fled. The victims were hit several times in the head and torso and died on the spot.

At 11:20 a.m., a 30-year-old female employee of a gas station was gunned down. Her 22-year-old colleague was seriously wounded.

Police said two assailants drove the motorcycle to the pump to buy gas. After the victim, Prapaporn Suwanno, filled the vehicle with gas, the pillion rider pulled out a gun and fatally shot her and injured her co-worker Leelawadee Boonlert.

Prapaporn died at the scene, while Ms Leelawadee was taken to the hospital. The gunmen also took some money from the gas station's cash box.

In Narathiwat province yesterday, military rangers Chanakorn Kanchong, 26, and Piyarat Romphruek, 29, were gunned about 2 p.m. as they were riding a motorcycle to a nearby market. Their bodies were riddled with bullet wounds. Police found more than 10 spent AK rifle bullets at the scene. The shooters also took away one .38 pistol from a ranger.

The rangers were assigned to provide protection at a fruit orchard of some Buddhists in the village.

72 Dead as Syria Rebels Take Maaret al-Numan and Troops Storm Key Homs District
[An Nahar] Twin suicide kabooms hit a Syrian air force compound near Damascus
...The place where Pencilneck hangs his brass hat...
killing dozens of people on Tuesday, monitors said, as rebels took a key town on the road between the capital and second city Aleppo
...For centuries, Aleppo was Greater Syria's largest city and the Ottoman Empire's third, after Constantinople and Cairo. Although relatively close to Damascus in distance, Aleppans regard Damascenes as country cousins...
and regime troops stormed a key rebel district of the central city of Homs.

Turkey, meanwhile, again warned Syria it would not hesitate to retaliate for any strike on its soil as the country's top military commander visited troops stationed along the reinforced border.

And with fighting spilling into both Turkey and Leb, U.N. chief the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon

...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
head Anders Fogh Rasmussen urged restraint.

On the increasingly bloody battlefield, state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
said troops entered a rebel district of central city Homs and were "pursuing the remnants of the terrorists" -- the regime's term for rebels.

Pro-government media remained silent on Monday night's suicide kabooms in Harasta, a town northeast of Damascus, but a security source said the assault had been largely foiled, although some people were hurt when one vehicle blew up.

The blasts were claimed by the jihadist al-Nusra Front, which said one attacker drove a booby-trapped car and a second an explosives-packed ambulance.

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights director Rami Abdel Rahman said "dozens of people" died in the bombings, and that the fate of "hundreds of prisoners" held in the building's basement was unknown.

"The regime has not said a word about what happened last night. I hold the regime responsible for the fate of the prisoners. They shouldn't be holding all of these people in the first place," he told Agence La Belle France Presse.

AFP was unable to verify either of the widely differing accounts due to severe restrictions on journalists.

The Observatory said the attacks sparked intense fighting in Harasta between rebels and the army, which at daybreak pounded the town with shells.

It said Syrian forces on Tuesday also rained shells down on rebel belts in Aleppo, which has been fiercely contested since mid-July, and in Idlib province near the Turkish border.

Rebels took control of Maaret al-Numan, a strategic Idlib province town on the highway linking Damascus with Aleppo, after a fierce 48-hour gunbattle, the Observatory said.

"This is your tank, O Bashar!" a group of about 20 rebels shouted in a video posted by activists online as they fired off celebratory gunfire at a captured army checkpoint in the town.

The reported seizure came as soldiers moved into the central city of Homs, farther south on the same highway, in a bid to finish off Death Eaters there and free up forces for battle zones like Aleppo.

State television, meanwhile, said troops entered the rebel district of Khaldiyeh in the besieged city of Homs.

An activist confirmed the army had "stormed part of Khaldiyeh," but the Observatory said the neighborhood remained in rebel hands, although fighting was intense.

"The catastrophe is that there are 800 families trapped in Homs. It will be an unprecedented massacre if they take over the district," said the activist who identified himself as Abu Bilal.

A security official told AFP on Monday the army hoped to eliminate the last pockets of resistance in Homs and nearby Qusayr by the week's end to free up troops for battle zones in the north, such as Aleppo.

U.N. chief Ban urged a unilateral truce by Assad's regime.

"I have conveyed to the Syrian government (a) strong message that they should immediately declare a unilateral ceasefire," he said.

Ban urged "the opposition forces to agree to this unilateral ceasefire when and if the Syrian government declares it," and appealed for countries to stop arming both sides.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned of retaliation against Syria's "aggressive position."

"It has become inevitable for our armed forces to retaliate in kind... as the Syrian administration maintains its aggressive position," he told politicians.

Erdogan spoke as his armed forces chief inspected troops on a tour of the heavily fortified border after a number of shells landed on Turkish soil, including one strike that killed five civilians last week.

The Observatory said violence across Syria killed at least 72 people on Tuesday. It said more than 32,000 people have died since the revolt against Assad erupted in March 2011.

The conflict has also driven tens of thousands of people from their homes, and the first formal camp inside Syria for the displaced began admitting families on Tuesday, just a stone's throw away from the border with Turkey.
