Yemeni President Accuses Iran of Backing Armed Separatists
[An Nahar] President Abdrabuh Mansour Hadi has accused Iran of backing a faction of Yemen's southern separatist movement seeking to secede by force of arms, a newspaper reported on Friday.

"In the south, there are two movements: a peaceful one and another, which is not," the pan-Arab newspaper Al-Hayat quoted him as saying.

"The latter resorts to the use of weapons, receives Iranian assistance and works for secession" of south Yemen, which was a separate state until 1990, Hadi charged.

Sunni-majority Yemen and Shiite-dominated Iran have often regarded each other with mutual suspicion. Sanaa suspects Tehran of supporting rebels of the Shiite Zaidi sect in north Yemen.

"I'm president of Yemen and I'm from the south, just like Prime Minister Mohammed Basindawa who is also a southerner. We advocate national and global dialogue to bring Yemen out of its current situation, which is incompatible with 21st century norms," Hadi added.

A national dialogue conference proposed by the government is due to begin in November as part of Yemen's transition process from the rule of former president President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
, ousted in February after a popular uprising.

Buddhists brace for a backlash
[Bangla Daily Star] After the irreparable loss of Buddhist heritage in last week's mayhem, the people of Ramu now fear damage of community relations as time has come to disclose the names of local instigators and perpetrators.
The question, and death is not an option: are the Muslims in B'desh mistreating their Buddhist neighbors over the treatment of Muslims in Buddhist Burma, or are they rioting because any old excuse will do?
Several government probe teams are working to unearth the names of criminal masterminds behind the gruesome attacks on Buddhist temples and houses. They are taking statements of witnesses.

The witnesses, local attackers and victims have been living together for generations irrespective of religious belief. But now, mistrust and suspicion will reign in their neighbourhoods, locals apprehend.

The way the government bodies are conducting probes, it will not be a secret who is testifying against whom. This places the witnesses in a dilemma, they added.

An investigator from the police told The Daily Star that most of the Buddhists are scared to disclose the names of the locals whom they saw among the myrmidons on the night of September 29.

A sense of insecurity is increasing among the Buddhists as some of them have already been warned by Moslem neighbours not to disclose the names.

Santosh Barua, a former member of Fatekharkul union, gave a statement to the Sherlocks Thursday morning.

He mentioned some names of Moslem neighbours who incited and helped others to carry out arson and vandalism.

After giving the statement, while talking to this correspondent, he received a phone call.

After the conversation, Santosh told this correspondent, "He [the Caller] was threatening me that the consequences would not be good if I do not withdraw his brother's name from my statement."

"I will never withdraw the names as I saw them how they instigated people," he added. "That night I saw who came forward to help us and who provoked the attackers."

He said many local participants of anti-Buddhist processions are now claiming they were not there or they were there to prevent the demonstrators from destroying Buddhist establishments.

All are not as bold as Santosh. Many Buddhists of Ramu told The Daily Star that they were in fear of further attacks and losses.

"Some of us have been receiving messages from our well-wishers to take care as we are helping the investigation to the displeasure of neighbours," said a Buddhist teacher preferring anonymity.

Australian police had Bali bomb evidence fears
Australian police had serious fears Indonesian authorities were about to destroy crucial evidence from the Bali bombings because of Muslim burial traditions, former commissioner Mick Keelty has revealed.

Mr Keelty was commissioner of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) at the time of the terror attacks carried out by Jemaah Islamiah. He was responsible for leading Australia’s response, including helping Indonesian police in their ultimately successful hunt for the perpetrators.

But the former commissioner revealed there were fears that Indonesian authorities would destroy crucial clues because of the Muslim custom of burying the dead within 24 hours. He said, “Muslims bury their dead within 24 hours, but we know that in our own experience in Western traditions if you have a murder in Sydney you could potentially leave the body in situ for 24 hours or more. There was that tension (in Bali) about cleaning up the crime scene very quickly. And some of the Indonesians are very good at that, they get on with things.”

Keelty said there were also fears that the federal police would not be able to give the Australian government and public a quick and proper explanation of what happened if the evidence was not analysed correctly.

Keelty said, “When there’s bombs exploding, you can’t discern one body from another … It’s very hard to identify people. We talked to Indonesia about the Interpol international standard, which was to have fingerprints or other forms of identification – DNA – and of course DNA identification takes a lot of time.

“Back here at home, people just wanted answers. People wanted to know whether their relatives were alive or dead. That was a very frustrating time at home. People wanted answers and wanted them straight away.”

He said the co-operation between Australia and Indonesia in the aftermath of the attack had become the envy of law enforcement agencies around the world, including America’s FBI.

Zbigniew: 'Crack Down' on Slanderers of the Prophet(PTUI) & Morsi is 'relatively moderate'
ZBIGNIEW BRZEZINSKI: From what I understand, Mr. Morsi is an intelligent and a relatively moderate
i.e. an islamofascist who isn't personally a terrorist
leader of the Muslim Brotherhood. And let's not be carried away by rhetoric about this very sad incident: the film, and then the reactions and the killings. The point he makes is not all that invalid. It's not a question of freedom of speech entirely. It's also an issue of responsibility. Consider this: if you were to yell "fire" in a theater, twenty kids could stampede it, and it was a gag on your part, or some malicious thought. You would be liable. You would not be acquitted on the basis of freedom of speech.
Zbig is spouting BS.
A correct analogy would be this: In a theater full of Muslims someone yells 'Mohammed sucks!'. The Muslims get furious and intentionally burn down the theater.

There is some indication--not conclusive, but it's worth looking into--that there was a conspiracy involved here.
Israel, the Mossad, the Juice did it!
People who produced the film remain anonymous, more or less, or having tried to hide.
Now why would a critic of Islam try to hide?
Some guy with strange name in California.
And he's an expert on strange names!
Another guy who specializes in attacking Islamic groups.
Attacking or peacefully criticizing?
A crazy
Zbig's an expert on 'crazy' too!
pastor, Christian pastor, in Florida who likes to provoke Muslims, produce a movie. Who paid for it? How was it financed? Why are they keeping quiet about it? What was its intent? Just to amuse? Just to put on YouTube so people would laugh? No! Clearly to provoke violence, killings. Isn't that a conspiracy?
No it isn't. If these people collaborated at all they collaborated in a perfectly legal activity. Violent crimes & threats by islamofascists however might involve a criminal conspiracy.
In other words, I would like us to take a more explicit position to the Muslim world. We're not only condemn this, but if there are evil forces at work trying to provoke violence between us and you, we have the obligation to investigate and to clamp down.
'The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam!'
One of the reasons why Jimmuah Carter was so awful is that he hired Zbig as his national security advisor.

#1  Walid Shoebat alleges the film was made by Palestinian terrorists from Bethlehem, using identity theft and financed with credit card fraud, to blame it on Coptic Christians--that is a conspiracy that makes sense. #3  The conspiracy I believe is that Al Queda realized this film trailer would upset some folks so they shopped it around at Mosques they knew they could count on to get a lot of rioters out on Sept 11 and cover their numbers and make it look as if the entire Muslim world supported the attacks.

Another conspiracy theory I believe is a President realized the attacks made his entire foreign policy look naive and dangerous so he grabbed onto any cover story that might work damn the constitution. His followers had supported nonsense in the past and they'd support this nonsense and for awhile he was right.

Class, please open up your ‘Propaganda Made Easy’ handbooks and turn to the Conspiracy section. Ok, now let’s begin with step one. First, you need to rhetorically question intent. You see, speculation of motives is widely considered a vulgar practice so this method can be quite disarming. Next step is to offer up a couple of non sequitur explanations. It’s recommended to use illogical or even silly examples. For more information you can go to the ‘Get to Know your Straw Man’ section. And finally, announce your speculation with clear conviction. Chances are good you will be able to convince a fair number of the gullible and weak minded. And remember, should anyone challenge your assertions – call them racist.

#8  "Brzezinski... later collaborated with Carl J. Friedrich to develop the concept of totalitarianism as a way to more accurately and powerfully characterize and criticize the Soviets in 1956."

So he worked to deliberately criticize the Soviet Union, while being fully aware of the fact that Soviet ideology doesn't condone criticism of itself and in general encourages violent suppression of dissent.

How would he have liked it if Eisenhower had taken a more explicit position to the Communist World?
We not only condemn this, but if there are evil reactionary forces like Brzezinski at work trying to provoke violence between us and you, we have the obligation to investigate and to clamp down.

According to his logic Brzezinski himself and his family should have been extradited to the Soviet Union in the 1950s.

The Soviet Union in 1956 had huge conventional forces and nuclear weapons. The West did not surrender.
The Arab-Islamic world is no military match for the West. Why would realists argue in favor of surrender?

Nuts!

India-Pakistan
Russia backs Pakistan's stance on drone strikes
[Dawn] Pakistain and Russia agreed on Thursday to arrange a high-profile bilateral visit to either of the two country's capitals to showcase improvement in their ties that suffered a temporary setback after President Vladimir Putin
...Second President of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Because of constitutionally mandated term limits he is the current Prime Minister of Russia. His sock puppet, Dmitry Medvedev, was installed in the 2008 presidential elections. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law. During his eight years in office Russia's economy bounced back from crisis, seeing GDP increase, poverty decrease and average monthly salaries increase. During his presidency Putin passed into law a series of fundamental reforms, including a flat income tax of 13%, a reduced profits tax, and new land and legal codes. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile...
cancelled his keenly awaited visit to Islamabad earlier this week.

Addressing a joint media briefing after completing his consultations with Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov endorsed Pakistain's stance on drone attacks.

"We are working on both proposals of Mr Putin visiting Pakistain or President Asif Ali Ten Percent Zardari
... husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, who has been singularly lacking in curiosity about who done her in ...
travelling to Russia. It is still unclear which one finally works out," a foreign ministry official said.

The visit would be worked out through diplomatic channels, he said.

Mr Putin had invited Mr Zardari to Russia while conveying regrets for his inability to come to Islamabad for a quadrilateral summit on Afghanistan and bilateral talks.

Mr Lavrov, who had rushed to Islamabad, according to Ms Khar on "a two-day notice", after postponing his visit to New Delhi, for damage control, insisted that the Russian president had pulled out of the visit only due to "scheduling issues".

Waziristan admin, PTI head for showdown
[Dawn] The political administration of South Wazoo Agency and Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
are heading for a showdown as the former insists that the situation in the tribal area is not ripe for a big gathering while the latter seems adamant to go ahead with its planned peace march.

Well-placed sources said that the administration had received orders not to allow the rally to enter South Waziristan. These sources said that the federal government had intimated the authorities concerned to stop participants of the rally ahead of Frontier Region Jandola.

"Entry of the rally in South Waziristan and Jandola is out of question. They will not be allowed even get to Tank city," said a bigwig familiar with the situation. He said that there was a high threat perception for the rally and the administration would not put lives of people at risk.

"This is in the interest of the people to give up rally, otherwise they will not be permitted to go ahead with their programme," he said. On the other hand, South Waziristan PTI organiser Dost Mohammad Mehsud said that the peace march would proceed to Kotkai according to the scheduled programme.

"We have reports that the political administration will not let the marchers to reach Waziristan or Jandola. But we will hold protest meeting on the place where the administration disallow us further journey," he said.

Giving details of the programme, Mr Mesud said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who ain't the brightest knife in the national drawer...
and others, including foreigners, would reach Dera Ismail Khan
... the Pearl of Pashtunistan ...
on Saturday night. They would stay at Hathala Farmhouse situated along the main highway between Tank and Dera.

Malik conveys Pakistan's concern to US on drone attacks
[Dawn] Pakistain on Friday called for a "common counterterrorism strategy against the common enemy," as Interior Minister Rehman Malik
Pak politician, Interior Minister under the Gilani government. Malik is a former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) intelligence officer who rose to head the FIA during Benazir Bhutto's second tenure. Malik was tossed from his FIA job in 1998 after documenting the breath-taking corruption of the Sharif family. By unhappy coincidence Nawaz Sharif became PM at just that moment and Malik moved to London one step ahead of the button men. He had to give up the interior ministry job because he held dual Brit citizenship.
conveyed Islamabad's concerns to senior US officials on drone strikes in the tribal areas.

"We have a common enemy and we must have a common strategy to fight this enemy -- Pakistain is committed with the international community in this fight -and we will hit them hard," Malik said, standing alongside US Special envoy Marc Grossman after their meeting.

At the same time, Malik acknowledged in a media interaction that there are reservations on the two sides, despite the fact that both have been victims of terror and have been fighting common enemy in Orcs and similar vermin along the Afghan border.

"Our side has conveyed our concerns regarding drone attacks -- the people of Pakistain have been voicing this and we hope that this voice of the people of Pakistain will be heard," said the minister.

The interior minister, during his two-day visit, is scheduled to meet Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as the Smartest Woman in the World and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Frederick T. Frelinghuysen ...
, Secretary Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and FBI Director Robert Mueller and discuss counterterrorism cooperation in a working group meeting with the US officials.

Grossman, who is US special representative for Pakistain and Afghanistan, and Malik also discussed the issue of combating improvised explosives devices, which have killed soldiers on both sides.

Malik said Pakistain is implementing a national counter-IED strategy to curb the cross-border movement of material ammonium nitrade, which is also used in fertilizers -- that Orcs and similar vermin use in the devices and has succeeded considerably.

"We have taken every possible measure -- we are an agrarian country, and fertilizers are important. What we have done we have regulated the movement of fertilizers -- we have also strengthened the (relevant) Punishment Act -- so administrative and all other steps are being taken."

Grossman for his part recognized the sacrifices Pakistain has made in fighting terror. "Americans recognize who are victims of terrorism --the Americans are victims but so many Paks have bit the dust, so many have given their lives fighting terrorism so this issue of counterterrorism is very important between the United States and Pakistain," Grossman said.

At the meeting with Grossman, the interior minister was accompanied at the meeting by Najibullah Khan Additional Secretary Interior, bigwigs and diplomats including Faruk Amil DG Foreign Affairs and Deputy chef de mission in Washington Asad Majid Khan. Director Pakistain Affairs Tim Lenderking assisted Marc Grossman.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Berri Cables Assad: Your Experience in Defiance Will Help You Overcome Current Crisis
[An Nahar] Speaker Nabih Knobby Berri
Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, a member of AMAL, a not very subtle Hizbullah sock puppet...
cabled on Friday Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
One of the last of the old-fashioned hereditary iron-fisted fascist dictators...
on the occasion of the anniversary of the October 1973 Arab-Israeli War.

He said: "Your country is passing through one of its most difficult tests and I am certain that your experience in defying Israel will enable you to overcome your current crisis."

"We are certain that you will meet the expectations of your people and set an example of democracy and freedom," he added.

"We are certain that Syria will return as strong as it used to be in order to take restore its role in defying Israel and in order to build a secure and stable future," continued the speaker.

Berri hoped that Syria will maintain its support for the Paleostinian people in their struggle against Israel.

"On the occasion of the memory of the October war, I would like to salute the heroic Syrian people and its courageous army for their enduring accomplishment of breaking down enemy positions and raising the Syrian flag over the Golan Heights," he said in the cable.

The speaker also sent a similar cable to Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi.

The 1973 Arab--Israeli War was fought from October 6 to 25, 1973, between Israel and a number of Arab states led by Egypt and Syria.

U.N. Security Council Condemns Aleppo 'Terrorist' Attacks
[An Nahar] The U.N. Security Council condemned Friday this week's "terrorist" attacks in the Syrian city of Aleppo
...For centuries, Aleppo was Greater Syria's largest city and the Ottoman Empire's third, after Constantinople and Cairo. Although relatively close to Damascus in distance, Aleppans regard Damascenes as country cousins...
that killed dozens of people and were claimed by a group affiliated with al-Qaeda.

A statement agreed by the 15-nation council condemned the attacks "in the strongest terms" and expressed condolences to families of the victims "of these heinous acts."

Car bombs went kaboom! on Wednesday near a military officer's club and outside a gate to Aleppo's Old City, killing dozens of people and wounding more than 100 in Syria's second largest city.

The city has been a focal point of bitter fighting between Syrian forces loyal to Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Supressor of the Damascenes...
and rebels trying to oust his regime.

The Jebhat al-Nusra group, an al-Qaeda-linked jihadist group, grabbed credit for the attacks in postings on jihadist Internet forums. The Security Council singled out the group in its statement.

"The members of the Security Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, and that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed," the statement said.

It said they "reiterated their determination to combat all forms of terrorism, in accordance with its responsibilities under the Charter of the United Nations
...Parkinson's Law on an international scale...

Iranians Urged to Unite to Face Down Sanctions
[An Nahar] A top holy man on Friday urged Iranians to confront the "economic war" posed by Western sanctions and for authorities to cease internal bickering, days after protests erupted in Tehran over a collapse in Iran's currency.

"The pressure today imposed on us by the world arrogance (the United States) is full-fledged economic war," Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami said at the weekly Moslem prayers in Tehran broadcast by state media.

"This pressure will not last. Our people have been tested and they will not be worn down. Our people will ensure they (the enemies) are the ones worn down," said the Shiite holy man, a ranking member of the Assembly of Experts that supervises the activities of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

On Wednesday, police and stone-throwing protesters scuffled in central Tehran after security forces closed down money exchange bureau and tossed in the calaboose
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
16 people accused of being "disruptors" in the market.

Shop owners in the Grand Bazaar -- a commercial maze in the heart of Tehran that has historically held political influence -- closed for security reasons and because they said the currency crash made business unviable.

It was the first sign of public unrest after Iran's currency, the rial, abruptly lost 40 percent of its value this week, resulting in sharply higher prices for imported goods and food as well as uncertainty for businesses.

Although calm returned on Thursday, a shopkeepers guild said the bazaar would not fully open until Saturday.

Blame for the sudden slide in Iran's currency, the rial, has been put on both the Western sanctions and on economic mismanagement by President Mahmoud Short Round Ahmadinejad's government.

SNC: Assad Shelled Turkey to Export Syrian Crisis
[An Nahar] The head of Syria's main opposition coalition on Friday accused the Damascus
...The capital of Iran's Syrian satrapy...
regime of trying to spread the unrest in the country to the region, branding the deadly shelling of a Turkish town "a regime plan".

"This incident was a Syrian regime plan," Syrian National Council Chief Abdel Basset Sayda told news hounds at a presser in Istanbul, referring to the Syrian shelling that left five Turks dead in a nearby border town on Wednesday.

"The regime is trying to export the Syrian crisis. He (Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad)
Leveler of Latakia...
thinks, that way, he can transform the conflict into a regional one."

Already tense relations between Turkey and Syria hit their lowest following Wednesday's Syrian fire that landed in the border town of Akcakale, killing two women and three children.

It was the first time Turkish nationals were killed by Syrian fire since the uprising in Syria began in March 2011.

Turkish army immediately responded, with parliament passing a mandate enabling cross-border operations inside Syria on grounds of establishing "national security".

#2  or the rebels are shelling Turkey to get the needed response

Wouldn't surprise me if the Sunni rebels were shelling Syrian positions from civilian areas in Turkey, whereupon the Syrians fired back. It's the kind of thing Sunni guerrillas do. Hamas and the PLO are notorious for this kind of thing vis-a-vis Israel.

We used to play this game in the backseat of the car on long trips. The non-artillery version is called "Mom, he hit me!" Unlike the international community, Mom seemed to figure it out pretty quick.

Terror Networks
Hook Boy Arrives in US
An ailing extremist Egyptian-born preacher and four other terrorism suspects arrived in the United States early Saturday under tight security.

The preacher, Abu Hamza al-Masri, was taken to a federal lockup next to the federal courthouse in lower Manhattan to face charges that he conspired with Seattle men to set up a terrorist training camp in Oregon and that he helped abduct 16 hostages, two of them American tourists, in Yemen in 1998.

"I'm absolutely delighted that Abu Hamza is now out of this country," British Prime Minister David Cameron said. "Like the rest of the public I'm sick to the back teeth of people who come here, threaten our country, who stay at vast expense to the taxpayer and we can't get rid of them."
Are there no accidents in Britain anymore?
The only accident I want for Hook Boy is with a bar of soap in a shower in the federal pen...
Al-Masri has been in a British jail since 2004 on separate charges of inciting racial hatred and encouraging followers to kill non-Muslims.

Sounds like the design parameters have been well met.

I also wonder how they are going to modify Hook Boy's hooks to render them safe.
