A Jefferson County Jail inmate has quite a tale to tell about how he got there. The nude man claimed to be Jesus Christ and George Bush when sheriff's deputies shot him with a stun gun after he ignored their commands.
A motorist spotted the 30-year-old standing nude in the middle of Alabama [highway] 79 early Friday morning and called police. The man struggled with police and was shot with a Taser four times before they subdued him and put him in handcuffs and leg irons.
He told the deputies he was Jesus Christ and George Bush "When he said that, he told him we'd sic Nancy Pelosi on him if he didn't come along quietly."
and could break the handcuffs. Police say he appeared to be intoxicated. No! yer kidding.
The man was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Everyone's talking about Ashley Dupre's tattoo that reads, in faux Latin: "tutela valui." Dupre was Eliot Spitzer's favorite prostitute, so people want to understand the words. But like those ridiculous Chinese characters fools have permanently inked on their carcasses, Dupre's tattoo botches the language. The Daily News delves into scholarly interpretation of the whore's bikini line:
Tutela, which is related to tutor, has to do with a protector or guardian. Valui appears to be a past form of the word strong.
"So I guess you would say it means, 'I have a strong patron' or 'I have a strong keeper,'" said Doug Machle, assistant to the chairman in the classics department at the University of Washington.
"Or, actually, it's more like, 'My guardian was strong.'"...
Mark Buchan, a classics professor at Columbia, took a different tack, musing that it could mean "safe haven."
The Columbia professor gives Ashley credit even as she tattoos herself with bad Latin for seeing herself (or her body part) as the strong one and having a sense of humor about sex.
Prof. Althouse's commenters propose some alternate interpretations:
'My guardian was strong.'"... OR
My pimp is tough.
"Medical professors disagreed with their colleagues in the classics department, explaining the it wasn't faux Latin, but faux Roman numerals. "It's an ICD-9 code" said one professor. He declined to specify which one, but stated, "Basically, it's an STD warning label".
My Latin is fuzzy so I had to venture a guess. "Tutela" perhaps derived from tukus or dupa referring to her ass aka moneymaker. And "Valui" refering to money or value. So "Tutela Valui" could mean "Ass For Sale".
It's the Latin phrase for laser surgery at mid-life.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, a former Democratic presidential contender, said Monday he wants the House to consider a resolution to impeach President Bush.
Kucinich, D-Ohio, read his proposed impeachment language in a floor speech. He contended Bush deceived the nation and violated his oath of office in leading the country into the Iraq war.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi consistently has said impeachment was "off the table."

A city Health Department study finds that more than a fourth of adult New Yorkers are infected with the virus that causes genital herpes.
I haven't spent all that much time in Noo Yawk, and when I have, I've kept my pants on. I'm kinda glad I did.
The study, released Monday, says about 26 percent of New York City adults have genital herpes, compared to about 19 percent nationwide.
I didn't realize it was that high. Monogamy does have its benefits...
The department says genital herpes can double a person's risk for contracting HIV. Herpes can cause painful sores, but most people have no recognizable symptoms. The health department urges consistent use of condoms, and says its STD clinics offer free, confidential herpes testing.

Franken's only competitor, college professor and peace activist Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer, withdrew after Franken passed the necessary 60 percent threshold on the first ballot. Nelson-Pallmeyer proposed that delegates unanimously back Franken, putting him over the top.
Franken's show of strength came as something of a surprise after a rocky few weeks in which some Democrats, led by U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum, criticized a racy column he wrote for Playboy magazine in 2000 and, earlier this week, joking comments he was reported to have made about rape that were included in a 1995 New York magazine article about "Saturday Night Live."
