[FOXNEWS] A Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, man was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail at police.
According to the Corning Police Department, this wasn't the first time Russ tossed a Molotov cocktail toward cops. Russ had an active arrest warrant for a previous incident in late July when he threw a Molotov cocktail near where the police department stages marked patrol cars.
Russ was booked into the Tehama County Jail on several charges
At approximately 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday, officers with the Corning Police Department began investigating a loud banging noise that was coming from outside the police department on the 700 block of Fourth Street.
The suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Cassidy Russ, began "fumbling with an item near the front of his waistband," the police department said in a blurb. As the officers gave the suspect verbal commands, Russ lit a Molotov cocktail and threw it toward police. The Molotov cocktail missed the officer and went kaboom! near a parked vehicle.
Officers used baton strikes and pain compliance techniques to subdue Russ, who continued to resist arrest, police said. Officers eventually took Russ into custody by placing him in handcuffs under sustained resistance.
A Molotov cocktail is a homemade bomb made from a bottle filled with gasoline and stuffed with a piece of cloth that is lit just before the bottle is thrown.
Police say that Russ was observed by an officer walking away from the police department following the deployment of the bomb and onto Solano Street.
Authorities say officers pursued Russ after observing him near the department. An off duty officer tackled Russ on the 1300 block of Solano Street, but Russ continued to resist arrest by concealing his hands by his waistband and backpack.
Officers used baton strikes and pain compliance techniques to subdue Russ, who continued to resist arrest, police said. Officers eventually took Russ into custody by placing him in handcuffs under sustained resistance.

EXPLOSION IN JALALABAD – A blast was reported in Jalalabad’s fourth district on Saturday, near the Sikh Temple (Darmsal). 6 non-combatants were reportedly injured. The circumstances around the explosion are not currently known and no further information was available.
SUSPECT IN PAKISTAN EMBASSY ATTACK REPORTEDLY DETAINED – Sources in Pakistan have confirmed that a man who is thought to have participated in the attacks on the Pakistan Charge d’Affaires and its diplomatic facilities was arrested by Taliban authorities. The Taliban used a phone number to track the man’s location and raided a building adjacent to the Embassy. Upon entry, they discovered the man attempting to escape and quickly arrested him. The room was on the 8th floor of the building and was wired with three separate explosives and contained multiple weapons. In an unconfirmed report, Taliban Police are said to have arrested another co-conspirator but no details were provided. In both situations, the electronic devices of both men were said to be recovered intact and may lead to further arrests.

Security officials did not comment on the loss of Deynunay village, about 25 km from Baidoa, the interim capital of the South West regional state. The withdrawal, analysts say, is a huge blow to locals who have been helping the government effectively tackle the holy warriors.
But despite the latest setbacks, the Somali National Army has managed to kill over 500 gunnies in the last three months according to Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre. The PM said that operations against al-Shabaab will continue until all strategic towns are seized.

The vessel was carrying nearly 7,000 proximity fuses for rockets and more than 2,100 kilograms of propellant, which is used in the launching of rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs).
"The direct or indirect supply, sale or transfer of weapons to the Houthis in Yemen violates U.N. Security Council Resolution 2216 and international law," the US Navy statement continued.
The resolution imposed "sanctions on individuals undermining the stability of Yemen ... particularly the Houthis" and called on them to "immediately and unconditionally end violence and refrain from further unilateral actions that threatened the political transition."
In January, the US Navy seized a "stateless" vessel transiting from Iran in the Gulf of Oman carrying kabooms. The ship was also stopped along the same route used to smuggle weapons to the Houthis in Yemen.

[Dawn] Three coppers were shot full of holes by forces of Evil in Nowshera district’s Akora Khattak on Saturday, according to police and rescue officials.
"Three coppers died in the attack," Nowshera police front man Durrani told Dawn.com, saying that the assailants targeted a police van.
He said that a police party reached the scene of the crime soon after the attack, cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation.
Durrani said the search operation was ongoing while the police were also gathering details of the incident and assailants.
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police identified the officers as Head Constable Manzoor, Constable Amanullah and Constable Ayaz.
A Rescue 1122 statement said medical teams moved the bodies to District Headquarters Hospital Nowshera.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan took notice of the incident and summoned an incident report from the police chief.
"The incident is very tragic and the sacrifice of the deaders will not go in vain," the chief minister said. He also prayed for the dear departed and extended his condolences to their families.

[Dawn] A terrorist commander named Muhammad Noor was killed during an intense exchange of fire with troops in the Shewa area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s North Wazoo district, the army’s media wing said on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the slain terrorist, whose alias was Sarakai.

[JPost] The IDF struck targets in the Gaza Strip on Saturday night after a rocket was fired from the Strip into southern Israel earlier in the night, according to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit.
A rocket was fired into Israeli territory north of the Gaza Strip on Saturday night, but no interceptors were fired from the Israeli side. The rocket reportedly fell in an open area.
The strikes targeted a workshop for producing weapons belonging to Hamas. The workshop serves as a central production site for much of the rockets belonging to the terrorist organization. A terrorist tunnel belonging to Hamas in the southern Gaza Strip was hit as well.
During the strikes, a second rocket alert was activated in open areas near the town of Bnei Netzarim near the border with Gaza. The Hamas-affiliated Shabab news network reported that two rockets were fired by Palestinian factions towards southern Israel in response to the strikes. After the second round of rocket fire, the IDF targeted a military position belonging to Hamas.
The Palestinian Donia Al-Watan news site reported that Egyptian intelligence is in intensive communications with the Palestinian factions warning them not to escalate the situation.
Hamas's Al-Qassam Brigades announced that it had fired surface-to-air missiles at Israeli aircraft during the strikes.
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem responded to the exchange of fire early Sunday morning, stating "The resistance's response to the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip, and its direct response to the Zionist bombing, confirms that it will not allow the occupation to change the equations and will continue to defend its people in all its places of presence."

The Israel Defense Forces said in a short statement just after 1 a.m. Sunday that it was attacking Gaza in retaliation for a Saturday evening missile strike, the first such attack in a month.
