Nebraska bakery owner tackles teen who allegedly stole tip jar
[NYPOST] A bakery owner in Nebraska is being praised for tackling and holding down a 90-pound teenager who allegedly stole a tip jar containing $15 ‐ but the boy’s mother wants the woman criminally charged for going "way above the law," according to a report.

The 14-year-old boy and a friend were at Farine + Four bakery in Omaha on Thursday when owner Ellie Pegler sprang into action during the alleged theft, the Omaha World-Herald reports.

Pegler later posted photos of the incident on her now-deleted Instagram page, complete with images of her bloodied knuckles and a warning for other would-be thieves.

"I’m tired of teenagers stealing our tip jar," Pegler wrote, according to the report. "I tackled a kid on Leavenworth street in front of a car today. Then I asked him ’how does it feel to be tackled by a b****?’"

Pegler held the teen against a refrigerated case for 20 minutes until police arrived, according to a second photo she posted.

The boy’s mother, Dominique Smith, said police later told her that her son refused to identify his alleged accomplice. He’s now facing theft charges in juvenile court, she said.

Smith filed a misdemeanor assault report on Sunday after her son, who is black, told her he had pain in his back due to a woman putting him "in a chokehold" before slamming him to the ground, she said.

"I think she went way above the law," Smith told the newspaper, adding that she thought race may have played a role in the incident. "I just feel like if it was a white kid, she maybe would have cussed him out ... but for her to go above and beyond."

Pegler, who is white, could not be reached for comment Wednesday. She left Omaha to be with relatives for Thanksgiving, an employee who answered the phone told The Post.

When asked about the incident, police in Omaha cited Nebraska state law that allows for "reasonable force" to be deployed while protecting property.

Presstitutes will find a way to stress their racist opinion or woke directive even if the bloody words don't fit the report. It reads like her being white is akin to being a criminal by nature.

Chicago Cop Absolutely Demolishes Cop-Hating Delinquent. Boo Hoo Hoo Ensues
[ABC7Chicago] (WLS) -- A man was hospitalized after being slammed to the ground by a Chicago police officer Thursday when he allegedly spit on a cop while being detained for drinking alcohol in public.
CPD says the officer involved in the "emergency takedown" will be relieved of police powers, pending a review. Which basically means cops are meant to just wipe the spit from their face and say 'Sorry, Sir!'
A 41-second cellphone video captured the incident and was posted to social media.

Police say two officers approached a 29-year-old man who was drinking alcohol at a bus stop in the Chatham neighborhood. Officers said the man became "irate" and threatened them. After the man licked an officer's face and spit in his eye and mouth, the officer performed an "emergency takedown," according to officials.

The man has been identified by his mother as Bernard Kersh. Keshia Johnson said she fell to her knees after watching the video of her son.

"I was nervous. I was scared. My heart dropped. I know I automatically thought the worst. He wasn't moving," Johnson said.

She said Kersh was on his way back to their home at the time after picking up some alcoholic beverages for the family's Thanksgiving gathering.

"We were waiting to eat Thanksgiving dinner for him because he always blesses the table," Johnson said.
The dear boy, doesn't he spit on the country too ?
Johnson said she was on the phone with her son during the encounter with officers when the call suddenly ended.

"I was at a loss," she said. "I didn't know what happened to him."

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
First highway bridge connecting China and Russia is complete
Russian officials announced Friday that construction on the first road bridge to connect Russia and China is now complete. Both countries say the bridge may allow for better relations between the two countries.

The bridge, which connects Blagoveshchensk, Russia, and Heihe, China, is set to open next spring. According to Reuters, it will help promote an exchange of freight traffic and agricultural products.

The first bridge linking Russia & China, suitable for automobiles, has been finally completed. The project took 3 years & cost around $3 billion. It will link Russia's Far Eastern city of Blagoveshchensk to China's Heihe and opens in Spring 2020.

‐ Bryan MacDonald (@27khv) November 29, 2019

The $295 million project is more than 1,700 feet long and is estimated to transport 4 million metric tons of goods and 2 million Chinese tourists every year over the Amur River, according to the Moscow Times. Each country built their half of the bridge.

The Amur region's governor said it will form "a new international transport corridor."

"It will allow us to fully reach our transit potential," he said.

According to the construction agreement, the bridge consists of both a road and a railway bridge, the latter of which was finished in March.

"These decisions are aimed at creating better conditions for mutual exchanges, trade and economic contacts between Russia and China, for the development of a reliable and stable year-round transport connection," the agreement reads. "It will help preserve and develop the historical ethnic, family, cultural, humanitarian and economic ties between the citizens of Russia and China."

Talks about a bridge connecting the two countries began in 1988 and an agreement to connect the two cities was originally signed in 1995. Construction on the project did not begin until December 2016.

The two countries are also expected to launch a natural gas pipeline on Monday. The "Power of Siberia" is part of a 30-year and $400 billion deal, according to Reuters. The 1,864-mile pipeline runs from gas fields in Siberia to Blagoveshchensk.

Japanese department store 'rethinking' use of 'period badges' for menstruating employees
A department store in Japan is reportedly "rethinking" a new policy of having female employees wear a badge with a cartoon character dubbed "Miss Period" that signifies they're menstruating.

The Daimaru department store in Osaka introduced the voluntary badges in October following an employee's suggestion, BBC News reported.

"It was never the intention to share the menstrual information with their customers," Daimaru spokesperson Yoko Higuchi told the BBC.

Higuchi said the so-called "period badges" were supposed to create empathy among coworkers, including allowing longer breaks and extra help for employees on their period.

Higuchi told the BBC that reactions to the badges were mixed.

"If you saw a colleague was having her period, you could offer to carry heavy things for her, or suggest she takes longer breaks, and this support would be mutual," she said.

She added that the company will reconsider how to keep the information within the staff without revealing it to customers.

The controversy comes at the same time local media has reported that some Japanese companies are banning female employees from wearing eyeglasses, with some saying they make women look "cold" or don't allow people to see their makeup.

In another controversy this year, Japan's foreign minister ignored a 20,000-signature petition, saying mandating high heels at work is "socially accepted as something that falls within the realm of being occupationally necessary and appropriate."

#2  The idea of people being disposable in Japan started long ago. In part because Japan had periodic starvation due to populations out growing the available arable land. Note even unto modern times the Japanese give a prayer before eating that translates to "Thank you for the food" During WWII they wasted combat pilots by sending them out without parachutes and sending them on missions that were useless except for "face" saving.

Hong Kong Protesters Sing American National Anthem to Thank Trump for Signing China Bills
[PJMEDIA] On Thanksgiving Day (in the evening, actually) Hong Kong protesters decided to sing the American national anthem as a gesture of thanks for President Trump signing two bills into law Wednesday that condemned China. When they were done with "The Star-Spangled Banner," the protesters chanted "USA, USA, USA."

This is absolutely beautiful to watch. I actually had tears in my eyes when I first saw it. The passion of these people for liberty is amazing and incredibly inspiring.

The first of the two bills signed into law by President Trump on Wednesday requires the State Department to certify once a year that Hong Kong is sufficiently autonomous to retain its special U.S. trading consideration. The second bill, meanwhile, makes it illegal to sell munitions like tear gas and rubber bullets to Hong Kong police.

Records Set, Billions Minted: It Will Be Hard to Top 2019 Stocks
[Bloomberg] In a bull market almost everyone thought was living on borrowed time, the S&P 500 is poised to post one of its best years in two decades. Extraordinary returns like those are complicating the lives of people paid to predict what happens next.

Stretches like this are only raising the stakes. Despite falling the most in almost two months on Friday, the S&P 500 has now climbed for seven out of the last eight weeks, with this month’s 3.4% gain tied for the best November return in a decade.

A vanilla 60/40 portfolio -- 60% stocks, 40% bonds -- is now on course for its best year since 2009 -- a feat that few see being repeated anytime soon.

As December beckons, sell-side prognosticators sound anxious, though not quite bearish. Societe Generale SA, Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. are among those telling clients that beloved strategies -- America First trades, quality shares, selling volatility -- offer fewer rewards in 2020. Growth and valuation risk is the mantra.

Add the struggle to reach a phase-one U.S.-China trade deal, and investors are in no mood to revel in this year’s double-digit returns.

"We have been bombarded by these outlooks for 2020," said Alberto Tocchio, chief investment officer at Colombo Wealth SA in Lugano, Switzerland. "But I wouldn’t be so sure that growth will expand in any considerable way if a trade deal is not signed."

Colombo Wealth has been turning more defensive over the past month, reducing positions in U.S. equities and instead switching into European value stocks and U.K. domestic shares.

Uniting a host of Wall Street analysts is the view that the U.S. isn’t on the cusp of recession, global manufacturing can recover from its woes and easier monetary policies can deliver a boost to growth. Low interest rates are bidding up bond-proxies while haven demand is juicing quality stocks.

Europe
The "perfect Aryan poster baby" was actually Jewish
The cover of the January 1935 issue of “Sonne ins Haus” (“sun in the house”, a Nazi magazine for mothers) featured the winner of the “most beautiful Aryan baby” photo contest.

There was only one problem with the undeniably beautiful baby Hessy Levinsons: she was Jewish.

When her mother Pauline had taken Hessy to Hans Ballin’s photography studio for a baby portrait, the photographer had asked her if he could enter said portrait for the “most beautiful Aryan baby” contest. Pauline, flustered, felt obliged to inform the photographer that both parents were non-Aryan. The photographer’s answer: “I know. I want to make the Nazis look lächerlich” [ridiculous].

Recounting the story 80 years later, Hessy Levinsons Taft, now a chemistry professor emeritus at St. John’s University in New York, says she can laugh about it now, but realizes she might not have been alive today if the Nazis had known.

WSJ: Trump 'Quietly' Met With Gov. Kemp About Senate Appointment
[Red State] According to the Wall Street Journal, President Trump and Georgia Governor Brian Kemp quietly met last Sunday in the White House. Kemp brought along Kelly Loeffler, an Atlanta businesswoman who is under consideration as an appointee to fill the Senate seat of Senator Johnny Isakson. Isakson announced his retirement last August, after a forty-year career in politics. He cited health concerns.

The trip was unannounced to the press and Kemp kept the information about the trip from his top aides. President Trump didn’t tell senior aides at the White House about the meeting, either, not even the ones who have been involved in the process. It is reported that the meeting didn’t go particularly well. The two men have been discussing the choice Kemp has to make for several months. The problem is that Trump is encouraging Kemp to appoint Rep. Doug Collins, a loyal Trump supporter who has risen in national recognition since his involvement in the House Intelligence Committee’s impeachment hearings. Collins is the ranking member on the committee. Kemp is leaning toward appointing Ms. Loeffler. Loeffler would be a status quo kind of appointment ‐ a wealthy, moderate Republican woman who pro-life organizations are coming out against.

Pakistani man killed journalist wife for not quitting job
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An international trade association says a Pak female journalist was shot and killed by her husband earlier this week in the eastern city of Lahore after he demanded she quit her job.

In Friday’s statement, the International Federation of Journalists urged Pakistain to conduct a probe into Monday’s murder of Urooj Iqbal who was a news hound at a local newspaper.

It says Iqbal was killed by Dilawar Ali on International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Iqbal’s family says she had alerted police her husband was harassing her, but no action was taken. Police have arrested Ali and charged him with murder.

Pak women often face harassment at the workplace, but many offenders escape punishment as victims don’t report such incidents to avoid further social stigma.

Black Friday brings big savings to Erbil
It’s never been that we forcibly exported American culture, destroying native cultures the world over, but that various American approaches are so appealing the people want it for themselves.
[Rudaw] Despite a bad banking system and shaky internet connections, consumers in the Kurdistan Region are not entirely cut off from Black Friday deals.

Black Friday always falls on the Friday after the US Thanksgiving holiday, and traditionally marks the start of the Christmas shopping season.
...in America. In Germany, the Christmas shopping season begins on the first Sunday in Advent, with wonderful Christmas markets on the central town square selling mulled wine, charmingly decorated gingerbread cookies as big as a child’s head, and all sorts of Christmasy things in stalls lining the square in an organized fashion...
Many major retailers run huge sales promotions on Black Friday,
...again, in America...
and with the ascendance of online shopping, some Kurdish shoppers can take advantage of the deals.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
The Crisis of Violence in Israeli Arab Society
h/t J-Post
[Begin-Sadat center] Arab politicians blame the Israeli establishment for the rampaging violence in Israeli Arab society, but ignore the underlying problems in their own sociopolitical culture that foster that violence.

...Israeli Arab communities do indeed suffer serious problems, including illegal weapons in almost every home, domestic violence, and violence against women. Crime is on the rise in many Arab towns, and inter-clan murders have become routine. Arab MKs blame PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Interior Minister Gilad Erdan personally for what they perceive as a lack of initiative in addressing these problems in the Arab sector.

There are many factors contributing to the pervasive crime in Israeli Arab society, beginning with the structure of the family unit and including certain Arab traditions and customs. There are more issues underlying these factors, like difficult economic and social conditions in the Arab communities and a general animosity toward the Israeli establishment. The combination of elements made it nearly inevitable that the crime rate would rise.

#2  Go door-to-door and confiscate the illegal weapons.

What? The people complaining would complain about that? Then it's not a problem, is it?

#1  What's the Proper Handling of the Civil War?

...Oh, I dunno - intelligent, reasoned discussion based on solid historical knowledge of where both sides were coming from?

Nah, that'd never work.

#2  What's the Proper Handling of the Civil War?

Yes indeed, cheap labor has a significant downside. In a simple, four word phrase:

"Pick your own cotton."

#3  We don't need debate. We've already been told, and shown, the right way to handle it -- by General Grant at Appomattox, by Brevet Major General Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain three days later, by Grant again decades later in his Memoirs, and by President Lincoln in his Second Inaugural Address and in his letters.

If ours is a great nation, then it can't have two histories.
We are one nation, or we are not a nation at all.
Either we atoned for the sin of slavery with 600,000 dead, or we did not atone for it.
Either the war was pointless butchery, or it was fought with honor and honorably settled the issue of whether slavery was compatible with American self-government.
Either all Americans can share in this history, or there is no coherent national history to speak of.

Those who would tear down these statues are pissing on our nation's greatest and most profound memories -- our Homeric period.

Piss on the Civil War, and you piss on our nation's heritage and sacred collective memory.

Piss off.

#8  And there's also the 1913 reenactment of Gettysburg, with old Confederate veterans slowly charging equally old Union veterans, resulting in handshakes, hugs, and tears all around. It's an odd thing that Union men who fought the Confederates in truly awful combat had more respect for them than people whose only risk is that the barista may get their order wrong.

#9  What the general public doesn’t understand is that as soon as the radicals destroy any memory of Confederate memorials, they will start in on Union memorials as symbols of white supremacy, etc. So far, my home county, Fannin, still has a magnificent 2nd place trophy on the courthouse square.

Well the democrats do love their slaves. So this would be a benefit for them. But I don't think it would be just blacks this time but anyone who doesn't toe the line or 'owes too much social justice debt'.
