[LI] There have been amazing new developments in the battle against the Wuhan coronavirus.
As Mary noted, both Moderna and Pfizer have created vaccines found to be over 90% effective in testing during late stage trials.
But there is even more: University of Arizona Health Sciences researchers recently completed a study and found immunity persists for at least several months after being infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
"We clearly see high-quality antibodies still being produced five to seven months after SARS-CoV-2 infection," said Deepta Bhattacharya, Ph.D., associate professor, UArizona College of Medicine—Tucson, Department of Immunobiology. "Many concerns have been expressed about immunity against COVID-19 not lasting. We used this study to investigate that question and found immunity is stable for at least five months."
The resulting paper, "Orthogonal SARS-CoV-2 Serological Assays Enable Surveillance of Low Prevalence Communities and Reveal Durable Humoral Immunity," was published today in the journal Immunity. Dr. Bhattacharya and Janko Nikolich-Zugich, MD, Ph.D., professor and head of the Department of Immunobiology, led the research team.
When a virus first infects cells, the immune system deploys short-lived plasma cells that produce antibodies to immediately fight the virus. Those antibodies appear in blood tests within 14 days of infection.
Even better: A soon-to-be release study suggests that such immunity can last for years.
Eight months after infection, most people who have recovered still have enough immune cells to fend off the virus and prevent illness, the new data shows. A slow rate of decline in the short term suggests, happily, that these cells may persist in the body for a very, very long time to come.
..."That amount of memory would likely prevent the vast majority of people from getting hospitalized disease, severe disease, for many years," said Shane Crotty, a virologist at the La Jolla Institute of Immunology who co-led the new study.
The findings are likely to come as a relief to experts worried that immunity to the virus might be short-lived, and that vaccines might have to be administered repeatedly to keep the pandemic under control.
And the research squares with another recent finding: that survivors of SARS, caused by another coronavirus, still carry certain important immune cells 17 years after recovering.
Finally, the new treatments that have been developed rapidly in response to the pandemic crisis have reportedly led to a significant drop in mortality rates of elderly patients who become infected with the virus.
White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany presented a fatality chart showing deaths over time per hundred cases for various age ranges. According to the data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, deaths have come down for every age group, especially for those over age 70 — the age range marked with a red line.
"That red line is a testament to what this President has done," McEnany said Friday afternoon at a press conference. "Therapeutics, monoclonal antibodies — that is a recent one — that reduces hospitalization in high-risk seniors with moderate to mild COVID by 70 percent. That’s American ingenuity rising to the occasion, and President Trump oversaw all of this."

Covid Season #2.
Because like most Viruses they find Colder seasons the best environment to start and infect in. The CDC website even provides virus propagation examples showing Late Oct/ Early Nov. to Mid April Early May. Then in the spring (warmer months) the virus infection and mortality numbers decline.
JUST AS THE C-19 did from its initial spread in Nov/Dec 2019 (China/Europe spread) to the USA, to its USA Death rate Peak in Mid April 2020, then it started a declined until late Oct.

147,840 New Cases. Which by their figures works out to 50 per 100,000. Using that figure despite the well known FALSE POSITIVE rates of 20% to as much 40%.
The CDC's figures work out to the odds of 0.043228~ of 1% out of 342M of getting the C-Virus in season #2 over the last 7 days.
Over the last 7 days the CDC has received reports of 882 C-Virus Season #2 "related" deaths.
So again you have to be part of the lucky 0.04322~ of 1% out of 342M infected, in order to stand any chance of being the 0.5965~ of 1% IF infected to die... The Season #2 C-Virus
NOTE:
The US Mortality rate is FAR LOWER than Season #1 "so far".
BTW: As I have repeated several times before, the US DAILY Mortality Rate average is 7,778.6 deaths per Day.
That makes the weekly average works to about 54,450.5.
So the C-Virus Season #2 is currently 1.62% of national Daily Average.

At the federal level, perhaps, though I don’t think they‘ll have much time before the 2022 Republican wave. But at the state and local levels the majority of governors and state legislatures are Republican, as Dan Bongino pointed out here.
Moreover, in 2021, Republicans will hold 27 governorships compared to the Democrats, with 23.
A “trifecta” refers to single-party control of a state’s governorship and both chambers of its legislature. As a result of the 2020 elections, Republicans won trifectas in New Hampshire and Montana. According to Ballotpedia, “If control of Alaska does not change, Republicans will have 23 trifectas (a net gain of two), Democrats will have 15 trifectas, and 12 states will have divided governments (a net loss of two). (If Republicans gain a trifecta in Alaska, they will have 24 trifectas to Democrats’ 15 with 11 divided governments.)”
Of the battleground states, the GOP will hold trifectas in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, New Hampshire, Ohio and Texas. Democrats will have a trifecta in Nevada only. The rest of the battlegrounds, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin will have divided government.
Why does it matter if Republicans control the legislatures in the majority of states, particularly in the battlegrounds?
Because in 2021, state legislatures will be redrawing U.S. House district maps according to changes identified by the 2020 census.

I think that Trump is planning the demise of the republican party with Ms Powell in the vanguard. I have no respect or regard of people like Murkowski, Christie, Romney, or Ryan but I do regard and respect people like Trump, Jordan, and Powell.

Border Patrol agents are already seeing a Biden surge in illegal immigration at the southwest border, officials said Thursday, with the numbers surging 21% over the last month alone.
Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan said worsening economic conditions south of the border are largely responsible for the uptick, but he also blamed "perceived and or anticipated shifts in policies" here in the U.S.
He said it’s particularly dangerous at a time when the coronavirus pandemic is taking a toll on CBP personnel. At least 1,300 CBP staffers are currently quarantined, 700 are currently COVID-positive and 15 have died of the virus.
"I’ve attended way too many funerals," Mr. Morgan said.
Border Patrol agents and CBP officers snared about 69,000 unauthorized border crossers in October, up from about 58,000 in September.
Based on the number of COVID cases the Border Patrol is suffering, the unvetted migrants are bringing it in.
Which pretty well negates the Biden/Democrat effort to enforce more lockdowns -- the closed schools, the targeted bars, gyms and restaurants, the limited travel, the cancelled Thanksgiving, and more.
So long as there is no lockdown at the border, and COVID is rolling in from unvetted migrants with enough money to pay smuggling syndicates, any efforts to contain COVID from the stateside is nonsense. Too bad about all the boarded-up businesses.
[Washington Examiner] Rep. Devin Nunes warned of "growing concern" that President-elect Joe Biden, taking cues from former President Barack Obama, will shut down U.S. Attorney John Durham's inquiry into the Russia investigation.
The California Republican, who is the ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, said on Sunday that Attorney General William Barr should set up a special counsel before Inauguration Day to keep the so-called investigation of the investigators alive.
"Now we're sitting waiting for Durham to complete this investigation. I think people are getting not only very frustrated but also, there's a growing concern that Durham is not going to come out with anything and then Biden and Obama are going to be back in, and they're going to shut this investigation off," Nunes told Maria Bartiromo on her Fox News program, Sunday Morning Futures.
The congressman noted that Obama moved about a mile away from the White House after his eight years as president, asserting that Obama "set up shop" and spent time propping up Sen. Kamala Harris, who is now vice president-elect, during the Democratic Party presidential primaries until she "bombed out" before they shifted to backing Biden.

This time there was no lightning to be seen in the skies of Gaza. And if it was not a tropical storm, meteor showers or electromagnetic waves from the North Pole, then what caused whoever it was to fire the rocket on Saturday night?
In conversations with several sources in the Gaza Strip, the following scenario unfolded: Those who fired the latest rocket, whatever their organizational affiliation, did so after receiving a green light from Hamas or at least while Gaza's rulers closed their eyes to what was going on.
And why does Hamas have an interest in gently needling Israel? Because in the last week the Gaza Strip has been breaking coronavirus morbidity records on an almost daily basis.
Over the weekend, 1,600 new patients were diagnosed in Gaza. This is a higher daily number of infections than in Israel, which has a population five times larger than that of the Gaza Strip. But the really bad news is that the percentage of positive tests in Gaza stood at 30%.
"It was a rocket for ventilators and medical equipment," one source said. "The situation in Gaza is difficult - and this is Hamas' way of signaling that."
Although the World Health Organization is doing its best to provide Gaza with medical assistance in its battle against the virus, it seems that the situation in the Strip is beginning to reach maximum capacity for treating COVID-19.
Israel generally approves the entrance of medical equipment into Gaza while the Palestinian Authority is routinely indifferent to what is happening there and is less than happy to help Hamas in any way.
Hamas in Gaza is a government entity skilled at exporting its internal woes. In other words, when Hamas feels that it is under fire from its own public, it immediately moves to divert it towards Israel.
As such, all the old and tired clichés that have been heard in recent days from Israeli military sources - like "Hamas is not currently interested in an escalation" and/or "Hamas has been deterred" - are only relevant if there is calm in the Gaza Strip. But there is no calm in the Gaza Strip, there is only corona.
For it was just last April that local Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar went on television to threaten that if they needed respirators in Gaza, he would make sure that Israelis could not breathe either.
Last week's rockets and Saturday night's rocket are just a classic reminder of Sinwar's promise to Israel and mediators about the explosive situation. And lightning has nothing to do with it.
