[IsraelTimes] Robert Bowers faces 29 charges, including murder and hate crimes, but lacked any connection to a State Department-designated terrorist group.
According to the Anti-Defamation League, Robert Bowers carried out what is likely the deadliest attack against the Jewish community in American history when he opened fire inside a Pittsburgh synagogue on Saturday, killing 11 congregants and injuring four coppers.
Bowers’ social media accounts were littered with anti-Jewish hatred and conspiracy theories. He also screamed "All Jews must die" when he confronted law enforcement after committing the massacre.
His shooting spree at the Tree of Life synagogue was an unprecedented act of political anti-Semitic violence on American soil.
But it was not, according to the US government, an act of domestic terrorism.
There is no federal crime labeled domestic terrorism.
On Saturday afternoon, federal prosecutors announced that Bowers would face 29 charges, including 11 counts of using a firearm to commit murder and several counts of hate crimes, such as obstructing the exercise of religious beliefs resulting in death and obstructing the exercise of religious beliefs resulting in bodily injury to a public safety officer.
Yet the reason he will not face domestic terrorism charges are simple ‐ no such charge actually exists.
"There is no federal crime labeled domestic terrorism," Department of Justice spokeswoman, Sarah Isgur Flores, told The Times of Israel on Sunday.
While the US Patriot Act, passed in 2001 by the George W. Bush administration, following the September 11 attacks, includes a working definition of "domestic terrorism," no crime was ever created to match such a designation.
The law describes domestic terrorism as an attempt to "intimidate or coerce a civilian population; to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, liquidation, or kidnapping."
The most common terrorism-related charge in US courts is providing "material support" to one of the State Department-designated foreign terrorism organizations. There were roughly 300 such prosecutions from 2001 to 2011 that resulted in indictments related to jihadist terror or national security charges, according to the Center on Law and Security.
While Bowers’ motives seem plainly evidenced through his social media accounts and verbal proclamations at the scene of the massacre, he acted alone and not on behalf of any terror group.

I agree with Garth, how could prosecution for terrorism be worse than multiple counts of Homicide?
So you've got 11 counts of murder each carrying life imprison and one count of Domestic Terrorism carrying ga penalty of teaching at University of Illinois at Chicago serving next to Bill Ayres...

...multiple counts of 1st degree murder with the death penalty on the table is enough.
There. Fixed it for you, lord garth. And may the blandly forgettable Mr. Bowers be astounded to discover himself burning in Hell after his sentenced is executed.
And, of course, a bunch of Tokhes Shtup Rabbi's are implicating PDJT for the shooting by someone who didn't support him by demanding POTUS "denounce" White Nationalism.
[FOX] A brave dad armed with a pistol stopped what could have been a mass shooting Saturday inside an Alabama McDonald's when he took down a masked gunman who had stormed in and opened fire.
The unidentified father was leaving the establishment with his sons when a masked man walked into the Birmingham fast-food restaurant and started shooting, WBRC-TV reported. The father returned fire and, during the ensuing shootout, the gunman, the father and one of the man's teenage sons were struck, according to the station.
The gunman, who was not identified, later died of his injuries. The other two injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Markus Washington, one of the McDonald's employees, told WBRC-TV he was making two quarter-pounders when bullets started to fly. Washington said he ran into the freezer, where he heard about 15 shots fired.
"I’m feeling grateful," he told the station. "Wrapping my head around it all, I was just wishing someone would come wake me up from this nightmare."
Washington, oblivious to the shootout taking place outside the freezer door, feared the worst.

[BBC] Something mysterious, queasily spectacular, and extremely dangerous is happening in Cape Town.
In the space of a few months, half of the city's entire stock of more than 80 suburban trains has been set on fire and taken out of action.
That has prompted chaos and frustration for thousands of commuters, and deep unease for officials unsure if the arsonists are petty criminals, sophisticated gangs, or maybe even political forces seeking to discredit their rivals.
Viral videos have shown a series of burning carriages - billowing with black smoke while electric cables crack and fizzle overhead - screeching to a gentle halt in different train stations in the South African port city, as commuters rush to escape the fires.
[AFP] Right wing former army captain Jair Bolsonaro was elected president of Brazil on Sunday after beating leftist opponent Fernando Haddad in a second round election run-off at the end of a bitter and highly polarized campaign.
Supporters flooded the streets outside Bolsonaro's home in Rio de Janeiro, letting off fireworks and waving Brazilian flags.
Official results after polls closed gave the controversial 63-year-old Bolsonaro 55.7 percent of the vote with more than 88 percent of the ballots counted as his vow to rescue the country from crisis with a firm grip resonated with Brazil's 147 million registered voters.

Painful election to watch. I know a large family in Brazil and the young people who supported Haddad were pitted fiercely against the older members of the family who supported Bolsonaro. The wounds will heal but younger members are now embracing Haddad's resistência (resistance) to Bolsanario.
Brazilian anxiety stems from the older generation having experienced a sometimes brutal military dictatorship and the young people preferring to still embrace the recent failed socialism system out of fear of a new military dictatorship.

Seems he would be wise to say that will not happen.
[GUARDIAN] In Russia’s Arctic wilderness, the remnants of one of the Soviet Union’s most notorious gulag projects lie largely forgotten.
From 1947 until 1953, tens of thousands of prisoners, many of them "politicals" convicted for "anti-Soviet acts", were shipped to northern Russia to lay a railroad through some of the harshest terrain on Earth.
[Breitbart] Georgia Republican gubernatorial nominee Brian Kemp joined Breitbart News Radio on Saturday to discuss his opposition to his challenger’s radical socialist agenda.

Notice the word 'criminal'. The Progressives are totally deaf to that word. Maybe he should use the word 'fascist' which appears to be a whistle they do hear.
Washington (CNN)Former President Jimmy Carter, a Georgia native, wrote a letter to GOP gubernatorial nominee Brian Kemp asking him to step down as secretary of state and hand off oversight of the state's elections to someone else since he is currently running for governor of the state.
"In Georgia's upcoming gubernatorial election, popular confidence is threatened not only by the undeniable racial discrimination of the past and the serious questions that the federal courts have raised about the security of Georgia's voting machines, but also because you are now overseeing the election in which you are a candidate," Carter wrote in a letter to Kemp dated October 22.
His letter to Kemp came as the Republican has received sweeping criticism for his oversight of the elections this year and faces accusations of suppressing the minority vote. Kemp's Democratic opponent, Stacey Abrams, has likewise called for him to resign ahead of the election this November.
Carter added, "In order to foster voter confidence in the upcoming election, which will be especially important if the race ends up very close, I urge you to step aside and hand over to a neutral authority the responsibility of overseeing the governor's election."
Carter is a former Democratic governor of Georgia and, as he noted in his letter, has observed elections around the world since the end of his presidency.

[MAIL] A jet that plunged 5,000ft into the sea off Indonesia with 189 on board this morning had gone in for repairs ahead of the flight, it has emerged.
Lion Air's flight JT-610 was heading to Pangkal Pinang, an island north of the capital, Jakarta, when it lost contact with air control about 6.33am local time - just 13 minutes after take-off. Officials say they do not expect survivors.
Shortly before the disaster, the plane's pilot, Indian national Bhavye Suneja, had reported 'technical difficulties' and, minutes after take-off, asked to return to the airport, an official said. Traffic control allowed the return, but the aircraft then vanished from radar.
Authorities are not sure why the plane crashed - the weather was sunny, the aircraft was new and the pilots experienced. Websites that display flight data showed the plane speeding up as it suddenly lost altitude in the minutes before it disappeared.
