Snowden Granted Permanent Residency in Russia
[Yahoo.com] Fugitive US whistleblower Edward Snowden has been granted permanent residency in Russia, his lawyer said on Thursday.

Snowden, the former US intelligence contractor who revealed in 2013 that the US government was spying on its citizens, has been living in exile in Russia since the revelations.

The 37-year-old has said he would like to return to the United States.

His lawyer Anatoly Kucherena told AFP on Thursday that his residency permit was extended and is now indefinite, a situation made possible by recent changes to Russia's immigration law.

Kucherena said the application was filed in April but the process was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Snowden is wanted in the United States on espionage charges after he leaked information showing that agents from the National Security Agency (NSA) were collecting telephone records of millions of US citizens.

When asked whether Snowden planned to apply for Russian citizenship, Kucherena said: "He will make the decision himself."

Kucherena said it was "natural" that Snowden wanted to return to the United States but will only do so when the case against him is closed.

Earlier this year, US President Donald Trump said he would "take a look" at pardoning Snowden but has not made further comment on the matter.

A 2015 petition calling on then president Barack Obama to pardon the whistleblower and privacy advocate was rejected by the White House.

US Food and Drug Administration approves antiviral remdesivir to treat Covid-19
[France24] The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Thursday approved Gilead Sciences, Inc's antiviral drug remdesivir for treating patients hospitalised with Covid-19, making it the first and only drug approved for the disease in the United States.

Remdesivir, given intravenously, was one of the drugs used to treat US President Donald Trump during his bout with Covid-19.

The FDA's formal approval came just hours before the president's final debate with Democratic rival Joe Biden ahead of the November 3 presidential election.

Remdesivir has been available under an FDA emergency use authorisation (EUA) since May, after a study led by the National Institutes of Health showed it reduced hospital stays by five days.

#2  Probably at least 1/2 of COVID-19 deaths could have prevented if global elitists hadn’t gone hostile to Zinc with Hydoxychloroquine (with substitution of Ivermectin for those with risk of neurotoxicity— Nitazoxanide in later stages).

Instead, they promote and give approval to lucrative drugs far less effective & and threaten licenses of doctors who dare prescribe otherwise.

For The First Time In 55 Years, The ‘peanuts' Holiday Specials Won't Air On Network TV
[Deseret News] If your Halloween traditions include watching "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" on ABC, then brace yourself: For the first time since 1965, the "Peanuts" holiday movies won't air on network television this year.

According to Vulture, Apple TV+ will likely have exclusive rights to all "Peanuts" film content.

Since 2000, ABC has broadcast "It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" during their corresponding holidays. The films had previously been broadcast on CBS.

But don't worry -- your favorite "Charlie Brown" specials will still be available, free of charge, on select days. The Verge reported that Apple TV+ will make "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" free on its service Oct. 30 through Nov. 1. "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" will be free Nov. 25-27, and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" is free from Dec. 11-13.
Loss leader to get you to subscribe.

Meanwhile, one of the few traditions in which a large protion of populace shares in goes by the wayside.

Oh, but it gets better...

Apple TV+ will also release some new "Charlie Brown" specials celebrating Mother's Day, Earth Day, New Year's Eve and back to school, The Verge reported.
I'm sure Tim Cook has a Pride Month special teed up as well. Can't wait for the new woke Peanuts, yew guyzz! Maybe they can get rid of all that Jesus stuff from the Xmas special too! Ew.

Physical media, people.

Invest.

#2  Innit funny how stuff that was free to the public for years is now "exclusive" to a huge corporation that charges for everything? Eventually they want to do this to air, water and sunlight too.

#6  My late cousin Lee Mendelson, in collaboration with Bill Melendez, developed the Peanuts TV specials. It’s sad to see that the networks have pulled the plug on what had become an American holiday tradition.

My great uncle, a produce wholesaler (Lee’s dad) and Peanuts cartoonist Charles Shultz were great friends and golfing buddies. There was a framed cartoon on my uncle’s den wall. It showed Snoopy laying on top of a loaded fruit cart, like he was laying on top of his dog house. The inscription said,

“ To Palmer Mendelson, the World’s greatest fruit peddler.”

#8  Soon, the only "innocence" left in American society will be the too-loud assertions of innocence on the part of our politicians, amplified or derided by the presstitutes solely on the basis of how their agenda is being served, the truth and the people be damned.

Family of nine in China dies after eating toxic noodles
[NYPOST] Nine members of the same family in China died after eating spoiled noodles that had been kept in the freezer for nearly a year, authorities said.

The family living in the northeast province of Heilongjiang ate the homemade corn noodles for breakfast on Oct. 5, according to the Independent, citing a state-run media report.

The noodles, made from fermented corn flour, are a common dish in the region.

But hours after chowing down, those who consumed the noodles fell ill, the report said.

Eight of them had been confirmed dead by Oct. 11, and the ninth member was hospitalized but ultimately died on Monday, the outlet reported.

Must Vax as the New "Russia Did it" narrative.
[MedicalXpress] 'Foreign disinformation' social media campaigns are linked to falling vaccination rates, reveals an international time trends analysis, published in the online journal BMJ Global Health.

Every 1 point increase in effort is tied to an average 2% drop in annual coverage around the globe, and a 15% increase in the number of negative tweets about vaccination, shows the study, which forms part of a BMJ Collection on Democracy and Health published for the World Health Summit this weekend.

Last year, the World Health Organization (WHO) listed vaccine hesitancy—reluctance or refusal to be vaccinated because of safety concerns—-as one of the top 10 threats to world health.

#2  I've always felt anti-vaxxers are misguided. That said, there is no such thing as a 100% safe vaccine, or any other medication for that matter. That said, if the COVID-19 vaccine is any worse side-effects or efficacy wise than vaccines people more or less trust, there are going to be big problems after that, problems that could probably be avoided by not cutting corners with testing or rushing any vaccine out because political pressure and media hysteria about COVID.

#3  Considering the lack of danger from COVID for anyone with a functional immune system ages < 50 I can't see takeup of any vaccine being high enough.

Probably safer to catch it than the vaccine.

China-Japan-Koreas
Facebook, Twitter, and Big Tech Make their money in China
Last year, Amazon was forced to shut down its marketplace business in the People’s Republic of China. Amazon’s defeat followed that of a long line of Big Tech players who had tried to make a go of it in China and failed miserably. China’s economy is built to boost domestic businesses and foreign exports, with some needed imports, by companies linked to the Communist Party.

And no matter how politically correct Amazon may try to be, it can never join that club.

But Amazon’s business in China isn’t done. To a large degree, Amazon’s business is China. Behind the smiling logo, the massive array of businesses covering everything from running the CIA’s cloud to spending $500 million to make a Lord of the Rings streaming series, are a bunch of grim offices, apartments, and warehouses in Chinese cities that make up its real business.
