Afghanistan
U.S Army ‘Prudent Planning’ For Full Withdrawal by Spring
[KhaamaPress] The Hill Reports, Pentagon has started planning to have zero U.S. troops in Afghanistan by May 2021, no full orders have yet been given to withdrawal.

"I’d like to make it clear that (Defense Secretary Mark Esper) has not issued orders to reduce military personnel below this 4,000 to 5,000 level in Afghanistan, although we are conducting prudent planning to withdraw to zero service members by May 2021 if conditions warrant, per the U.S.-Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
agreement," David Helvey, the official performing the duties of assistant secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific security affairs, told the House Oversight Committee’s national security subcommittee at a hearing.

The U.S is reportedly expected to draw down American troops stationed in Afghanistan to 4500 by November of this year.

Reports show President trump touting U.S drawdowns in the region as part of the campaign and a promise fulfilled to put an end to America’s "endless war".

#2  We're not leaving Afghanistan. Not now, not ever. We're there for 50 years, at least. It has nothing to do with the Taliban or Kabul. From this imperial outpost we can attack and destroy China's "Belt & Road" initiative, the CIA can incite China's Uighur population to rise up and overthrow the CPC, and we are right next to Pakistan's nuclear weapons so we can stage a land invasion of them if the situation warrants it. But hey, don't believe me, here it is:

#4  /\ Look at a map first. To get to Afghanistan you have to fly over Iran (an enemy), Russia (a "frenemy" at best) or Pakistan (China's ally against India). So this "Great Strategy" starts with the advance bases stranded beyond a secure logistical tether (!!). See Lord Elphinstone and the 1842 Retreat From Kabul and wonder if anyone reads history.

Declare Victory and let us just go home.

Taliban Forced Thousands of Women into Marriage when in Power: Saleh
Toys for the boys...
[KhaamaPress] The First Vice President of Afghanistan Amrullah Saleh claimed the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
had forced tens of thousands of girls into marriage throughout the country during their rule.

Speaking at the occasion of International Day of Peace, Saleh on Monday at Presidential Palace said the people of Afghanistan are a modest nation, and "if an assessment is made, tens of thousands of maiden of tender yearss have been forced into marriage against their will and the wishes of their families," as quoted by BBC Farsi.

According to Saleh, what has kept this a secret is the shielding culture, which does not allow such issues to go public, calling it a unique approach in the history of Afghanistan.

The Taliban humiliate Afghan culture, women and people by their behavior in the country, he said.

The remarks came at a time the country held a ceremony to commemorate the International Day of Peace at the Presidential Palace on Monday.

Fifth Column
Protester whose head was walked over with bike by Seattle police officer says incident shows ‘disregard for human life'
[SeattleTimes] The protester who made national headlines when video surfaced of a Seattle police officer walking a bike over his head during a demonstration Wednesday night on Capitol Hill said he isn’t badly hurt, but that the incident demonstrated police officers’ "disregard for human life."

Camillo Massagli, 26, who is known for playing the trumpet in local demonstrations, posted an Instagram video Friday night in which he explains that he is safe and would be taking a break from protests over the next couple of days.

"I’m barely hurt," Massagli said in the video. "I’ve got a little soreness in my temples and a little tweaked neck. Otherwise just fine. I’m not a martyr."

"It was more of an insult than anything," Massagli said of the episode with the bike. "But it does show their disregard for human life."

The bike incident, as well as video from the same night showing a person attacking a police officer with a baseball bat, drew widespread attention amid local and national protests in response to a grand jury’s decision not to indict police officers in Louisville, Kentucky, for the killing of Breonna Taylor.

The King County Sheriff’s Office said it will investigate the bike incident after a request by the civilian-led Office of Police Accountability (OPA) for a criminal inquiry by an outside agency. The officer involved has been placed on paid leave, according to Seattle police.

Seattle police spokesman Detective Patrick Michaud said he wasn’t able to respond to Massagli’s comments because the incident had been forwarded to the King County Sheriff’s Office and OPA.

Police officers’ use of force during demonstrations for racial justice this year has drawn sharp criticism from protesters as well as the former court-appointed monitor overseeing the federal consent decree with Seattle police. Merrick Bobb, who resigned from his role as court-appointed monitor over the consent decree earlier this month, said in a report that Seattle police lacked an overall strategic plan for dealing with the demonstrations and that police had "inadequate sensitivity" for those who showed up to protest.

Protesters have described several injuries from officers using crowd-control weapons during demonstrations the last several months. On Friday, dozens of plaintiffs, including the family of Summer Taylor, the protester killed by a driver on Interstate 5, also filed a lawsuit in King County Superior Court alleging the city of Seattle and Washington state failed to protect protesters from drivers who could hurt or kill them.

Police have also reported attacks from protesters, including kicks, punches, lasers shined in their eyes, and fireworks tossed at them. King County prosecutors charged a 27-year-old man with third-degree assault Friday for allegedly kicking a Seattle police sergeant in the face during an arrest at an anti-police union protest in August.

The investigation into the person striking a police officer with a baseball bat Wednesday night is still active, according to Michaud.

Massagli said in his Instagram video that he empathized with the emotion behind the assault, but explained by email Saturday that he does not support violent attacks on police officers.

"I have personally concluded that artful, peaceful resistance will serve this uprising most effectively in this age, so that is what I engage in," Massagli wrote. "I do not blame people, however, who conclude that tactics from previous uprisings are necessary."

Combatting the Rioters: DOJ Touts Hundreds of Arrests
[Townhall] The Department of Justice is touting hundreds of arrests across the country in the past five months as part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on organized and violent mostly peaceful unrest in America's cities.

"The Department of Justice announced today that more than 300 individuals in 29 states and Washington, D.C., have been charged for crimes committed adjacent to or under the guise of peaceful demonstrations since the end of May," DOJ released in a statement. "To date, of the 94 U.S. Attorneys’ Offices (USAOs), more than 40 USAOs have filed federal charges alleging crimes ranging from attempted murder, assaulting a law enforcement officer, arson, burglary of a federally-licensed firearms dealer, damaging federal property, malicious destruction of property using fire or explosives, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, unlawful possession of a destructive device, inciting a riot, felony civil disorder, and others. Violent opportunists have exploited these demonstrations in various ways."

The charges, which carry significant prison time, range from arson, illegal use of explosives, attacks on law enforcement officers and more.

"Approximately 80 individuals have been charged with offenses relating to arson and explosives. Approximately 15 individuals have been charged with damaging federal property. In some instances, these individuals are alleged to have set fires to local businesses as well as city and federal property, which will regrettably incur millions of taxpayer dollars to repair damages to the Portland Courthouse, Nashville Courthouse, Minneapolis Police Third Precinct, Seattle Police East Precinct, and local high school in Minnesota; and, to replace police cruisers in South Carolina, Washington, Rhode Island, Georgia, Utah, and other states," the statement continues. "Approximately 30 individuals have been charged with offenses related to civil disorder. In several instances, these individuals leveraged social media platforms to incite destruction and assaults against law enforcement officers."

Government
EPA Chief Threatens to Pull Offices Out of NYC Over ‘Unwarranted, Violent Activity’
More consequences. And it would probably save the federal government pots of money as well — win-win for everyone but New York City and New York State.
[Townhall] On the heels of the Department of Justice deeming New York City and two other U.S. locations "anarchist jurisdictions," Environmental Protections Agency Administrator Andrew Wheeler is threatening to pull its offices out of Lower Manhattan over concerns about the safety of its employees.

"If you cannot demonstrate that EPA employees will be safe accessing our City offices, then I will begin the process of looking for a new location for our headquarters outside of the City that can maintain order," Wheeler wrote in a blistering letter to Gov. Andrew Sonny Cuomo and Mayor Comrade Bill de Blasio
...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly. New Yorkers voted for him, so they deserve him...
The EPA administrator blasted the Democrats for failing to act during the July "Occupy City Hall" protests that not only made the building inaccessible to employees but damaged the office and other buildings.

"I have an obligation to our employees and if the City is unwilling or incapable of doing its job, I will do mine and move them to a location that can competently fulfill the basic mission of a local government," he continued.

Wheeler also cited an anti-ICE protest last week in which he was told by law enforcement that intelligence showed anarchists wanted to recreate a Portland-like atmosphere, which would've targeted their work location.

"The demonstrators engaged in unwarranted, violent mostly peaceful activity at the facility, breaking windows and defacing/destroying government property," Wheeler wrote.

"In the extreme, protestors smashed a turnstile door and forcefully entered the lobby of 26 Federal Plaza," he said of the neighboring buildings that house the FBI and Department of Homeland Security.

The violent mostly peaceful anti-ICE protest comes just months after a large anti-cop encampment in City Hall Park was allowed to swell in June and July as hundreds of protesters demanded a $1 billion cut to the NYPD budget in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

De Blasio said the protesters were welcome to stay in the park even as they covered municipal buildings with anti-cop graffiti, looted surrounding businesses, engaged in tense standoffs with police, and assaulted a New York Post news hound.

Under political pressure, Hizzoner finally ordered police in riot gear to bust up the camp in late July, leaving the cash-strapped MTA with a $17,000 cleanup bill after protesters turned subway vents into makeshift latrines. (NY Post)

"Public safety is a core mission of state and local governments and your failure to fulfill that mission is putting EPA employees at risk," he added.

Spokespeople for de Blasio and Cuomo brushed off the letter as a "political stunt."
