#1  Tamara Platonovna Karsavina was a Russian prima ballerina, renowned for her beauty, who was a principal artist of the Imperial Russian Ballet and later of the Ballets Russes of Sergei Diaghilev. After settling in Britain at Hampstead in London, she began teaching ballet professionally and became recognised as one of the founders of modern British ballet.

Honestly by modern standards she wasn't that good.

#6  But they trained differently in those days. There was an entire vocabulary of poses, of nouns and verbs to make statements that the dancer moved through. Modern ballet is athletic and dynamic, the emotion secondary instead of in your face. Here are excerpts from dances by a mere second tier dancer who will likely never be known as the other two ladies, because there are just so many dancers at this level.

#8  :-) I started in ballet, like all little girls who danced, Skidmore, but my legs and feet were not fast enough, nor my bones light enough — jazz and modern are better styles for mesomorphs. And gymnastics, none of which I was devoted enough to excel at. Dilettante, c’est moi!

But I do excel at appreciating the hard work and talent of others. ;-) And any chance to dig in and learn about something, once a target appears. So Fred and Woodrow get the blame credit this time for sending me down that rabbit hole.

Somali forces kill 15 al-Shabab militants
[ShabelleMedia] Somali National Army (SNA) killed 15 al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
snuffies in a fierce fighting Thursday in Galmudug
...a semiautonomous region in central Somalia, bordering Puntland on the north. Galmudug is not trying to obtain international recognition as a separate nation, but rather considers itself autonomous within the larger Somali federalism, for what that's worth...
State, central Somalia, the government confirmed Friday.

The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism said the turbans were killed after they attempted to raid military bases.

"Having prior information the Somali forces in cooperation with the local people foiled an attempted raid of the army bases by the terrorist group," the ministry said in a statement issued in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.

The government vowed to step up anti-terrorism measures across the country and called on those misled by al-Shabaab to surrender or shun the bad boy group’s ideology.

The local pro-government militia known as Ma’awisley backed by the SNA liberated more villages in Hiran and Galmudug within one month.

The bad boy group fighting to topple the government has been facing enormous pressure and an offensive from government forces backed by the local militia to flush it out of the Hiran region of central Somalia.

AU troops help Govt troops make gains against Al-Shabaab in Somalia

Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] has announced al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
's defeat on several front lines in the ongoing offensive, a move which has triggered several deaths in central and southern Somalia where the Lions of Islam are solely in control.

For the last several months, the Somali National Army [SNA] has been partnering with ATMIS, US Africa Command, and local militia to fight al-Shabaab, a strategy that has so far worked in favor of the combined forces, as the war against al-Shabaab intensifies.

In a statement on Friday night, ATMIS confirmed that it has been directly involved in the fight against al-Shabaab, adding that the offensive in the Hiiraan region has largely borne fruit to the expectations of the military, which is working to rescue the country.

"The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] is proud to have supported the Somali National [Army] in the latest offensive in the Hiiraan region," read the statement, which comes days after the SNA and the US Africa Command confirmed the success.

"The ongoing offensive which was phase 2 of a series of planned offensives started on 15th September and has so far been of overwhelming success. ATMIS remains deeply committed to supporting the federal government of Somalia to provide increased security and stability in Somalia."

On Thursday, the US announced that it directly participated in an offensive last Sunday which helped SNA soldiers who were under siege in Buloburde district, leading to the death of over 27 al-Shabaab fighters. The fighters had surrounded the SNA soldiers ready to fire bullets.

The ATMIS team which has over 23,000 troops in the country has also been working hard to degrade al-Shabaab Lions of Islam through military actions and has largely succeeded. The Lions of Islam control huge swathes of rural central and southern Somalia according to investigations.

At the United Nations

General Assembly in New York, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud announced that the Lions of Islam are facing rebellion from civilians who have since decided to take arms against them. Over 200 Lions of Islam have been killed in the last month, SNA reported.

One killed in suicide bombing in Somalia capital
[Al Shabab via Aljazeera] One soldier was killed and at least six others were wounded in Somalia when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a military base near the capital, Mogadishu.

The bomber disguised himself as a soldier and joined others as they filed into a military base early on Sunday before he detonated the explosive, said Captain Aden Omar, an officer at the base.

"We lost one soldier and several others were injured. The bomber blew up himself at a checkpoint," he said.

A nurse at Madina Hospital in Mogadishu said it received one dead soldier and six others who were wounded.

It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the attack but the armed group al-Shabab frequently carries out bombings and gun attacks in Somalia and elsewhere.

Morocco sentences 12 more migrants following border tragedy
[An Nahar] A Moroccan appeals court has sentenced 12 Sudanese migrants colonists to three years in jail over violence in the run-up to a June 24 border tragedy in which two dozen migrants colonists died, a rights group said Friday.

Around 2,000 people, many of them Sudanese, stormed the frontier on June 24 in an attempt to reach Spanish territory across one of the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
's two land borders with Africa.

Rights groups have accused both Moroccan and Spanish security forces of responding with excessive force, leaving at least 23 migrants colonists dead, the worst toll in years of such attempted crossings.

The AMDH human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
group said the 12 migrants colonists would be jugged
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
for three years without parole after being prosecuted for "illegal entry onto Moroccan soil" and "violence against law enforcement officers."

"It's a very harsh and unexpected sentence, given that they had initially been sentenced to 11 months in prison," said Omar Naji of AMDH in the border town of Nador.

The June 24 tragedy followed days of festivities between Moroccan security forces in a forest near Melilla where migrants colonists often spend months living rough before attempting to cross the heavily fortified barrier.

Naji said the 12 had been arrested in one of the festivities, six days before the border incident.

Since the tragedy, Morocco has sentenced dozens of migrants colonists to prison terms of up to two and a half years on charges including illegal entry and belonging to criminal gangs.

The Spanish enclaves of Melilla and Ceuta have long been a magnet for people fleeing violence and poverty across Africa to seek refuge in Europe.

Scores Of Worshippers Killed As Terrorists Attack Zamfara Mosque
[SAHARAREPORTERS] Bandits on Friday attacked worshippers at a Juma’at Mosque in Ruwan Jema town in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing scores of them.

Residents said the gunnies hid their guns inside their clothes and stormed the mosque during Juma’at prayer.

"During Friday prayers yesterday, bandidos stormed Ruwan Jema town and opened fire on worshippers in the mosque, the number of people killed can't be ascertain but about 15 dead bodies have been recovered," a source told SaharaReporters.

There has been a spike in the activities of bandidos in North-Western states, with invasion of communities by button men, leading to killings and abductions.

On September 02, a mosque in Zugu community, also in Zamfara state was attacked with a yet-to-be-confirmed number of worshippers kidnapped.

Terrorists' Leader, Turji Bello Dares Nigerian Government
[SAHARAREPORTERS] A notorious North-West Nigeria bandidos’ kingpin, Muhammad Bello, aka Bello Turji, has reacted to the Nigerian government’s aerial bombing of his enclave in Fakai in the Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The Nigerian Air Force had last Saturday bombed the hideout of the notorious terror kingpin.

Some of his fighters and relatives were said to have been killed in the air raid.

The bully boyz were attending a wedding ceremony, with Turji and his camp in attendance, when the venue was raided.

He was said to have narrowly escaped the aerial bombardment on his home with injury.

Reacting to the incident, the bandidos’ warlord accused the government of breaking the peace pact they had with him in stopping banditry, by protecting the people of Shinkafi axis from any attack.

Speaking on phone with some of his acquaintances, Turji expressed his bitterness over the air raid on his abode and the killing of vulnerable people.

In an audio conversation obtained by PRNigeria, the bandidos’ leader said he had agreed with officials of the government and community leaders to abandon banditry.

"There have not been any attacks in the last five months since we reached a truce with the government but now that the military has attacked our home, we feel betrayed especially after the death of vulnerable people in the Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s.

"For the past five months, we didn’t attack or kill anyone around Shinkafi. As a result, farming and other business activities were flourishing without any hitches.

"I feel embarrassed when my name is mentioned after attacks by other bandidos and terrorists. Apart from my house that they destroyed, many other buildings belonging to innocent citizens in the forest, were also affected.

"Peace is priceless and I am ready to be a peace advocate unless the government wants him to be a warmonger. I am ready for either peace or war. Whatever the government wants, we can give them a multitude."

Zamfara deputy governor, Hassan Nasiha, recently said Turji had repented and embraced peace overtures by the state government.

He is known to have been responsible for numerous massacres and terrorist attacks against civilians and security forces in the North-West region, especially Zamfara and Sokoto states.

In September 2021, Yan Sakai operatives attacked a mosque in Gwadabawa, killing eleven people.

Turji responded by leading his bandidos towards a market in Gonroyo, Sokoto State. The bandidos entered the bazaar and opened fire, killing at least 50 to over 60 civilians.

In December 2021, Turji's forces attacked a bus in Sabon Birni, setting it on fire and burning the passengers inside to death. 30 people died in the ambush.

From 4 to 6 January 2022, over 200 people were killed by bully boyz led by Turji in Zamfara State, Nigeria.

Shortly before the attacks, bully boyz led a raid on a group of 3,000 cattle only to be confronted by local vigilantes, leading to a shootout and battle between the two parties.

The outnumbered vigilantes lost and many of them were slain by bandidos, and the killings of villagers began.

Libyan Detainee Cleared for Release after 20 years at Guantánamo
[LIBYAREVIEW] A US national security board on Saturday cleared a Libyan national who has been held at Guantánamo Bay, without charge for 20 years. He is to be transferred to another country, if one can be found to take him.

The decision in the case of Ismail Ali Faraj Ali Bakush, 54, means that US diplomats are now seeking to reach security agreements for the transfer of 22 of the 36 men currently held, as prisoners of war at Guantánamo.

Bakush is the last so-called low-value prisoner. He was being held as an indefinite detainee in the war on terror, that began in response to the 11 September 2001 attacks.

Three of Guantánamo’s prisoners, all previously held by the CIA as "high-value detainees," are currently considered indefinite detainees. This means they are deemed too dangerous to release, but held without criminal charges. Eleven others have been charged with war crimes, the majority of their cases still in pretrial proceedings.

In an apparent nod to the instability of Libya, the Periodic Review Board — an interagency group with representatives from the Pentagon, the intelligence agencies, and various cabinet agencies — recommended that he be transferred to a third country "with strong rehabilitation capabilities, integration support, and a willingness to monitor his activities, and restrict his travel."

Bakush was arrested in Lahore, Pakistain, in May 2002 and sent to Guantánamo three months later.

A US intelligence report from January described him as an explosives expert who "probably provided operational support to key al-Qaeda figures." At Guantánamo, he was held as a member of the al-Qaeda-affiliated Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, which the State Department designated as a terrorist organization from 2004 to 2015.

Related: His Guantanmo Fandom Wiki has all sorts of interesting information, like details of his years spent training and fighting with the Taliban, his Guantanamo Internment Serial Number is 708, and that he was also known as Abu Ali and Haj Munier — the name Al-Hajj Munir al-Libi was found on list of captured mujahidin on a hard drive associated with Khalid Shayk Muhammad.

According to Levies officials, gunnies planted an bomb under the pipeline supplying gas to Dera Bugti and other areas from the Loti gas field in the early hours of the day.

The supply from the plant has been suspended after the attack. Officials said that work to repair the damaged pipeline would start after security clearance.

An investigation has been launched into the attack. No organization has grabbed credit for the attack so far.

Ex-minister Babu Singh, who got funds from Pak-based terror organisations, chargesheeted
[GreaterKashmir] The State Investigation Agency (SIA) Jammu of J&K Police Saturday filed a chargesheet against former minister Jatinder Singh alias Babu Singh for getting funds from Pakistain-based terrorist organizations.

A statement of the SIA issued here said that the chargesheet was filed against Muhammad Shareef Shah of Larnoo, Anantnag, and Muhammad Hussain Khateeb of Bhaderwah, Doda, presently living somewhere in Pakistain, in case FIR No 73/2022 of Police Station Gandhi Nagar, Jammu transferred to the SIA by the J&K Police Headquarters with the request to the court to file supplementary chargesheet soon.

The SIA statement said that Shah was arrested by Police in Jammu along with a terror fund of Rs 6.90 lakh meant for Singh and was intended to be used for the anti-national activities of Singh and his party ’Nature Mankind Friendly Global Party’.
What a friendly name — it sure makes me want to trust the people associated with it.
It said that Singh was in touch with the Lions of Islam of a proscribed terror organization Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) outfit and separatists of an unlawful association Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
Liberation Front (JKLF).

The statement said that these inimical entities had sent this terror fund from Pakistain through their associates for Singh’s party.

It said that the vision document of this party floated by accused Singh was to make J&K, PoK, and Gilgit Baltistan an independent country by making a condominium of Pakistain and India, for having joint control over currency, external affairs, and finance.

The statement said that in the investigation it was revealed that Singh was in contact with Khateeb over encrypted social media applications and had clandestinely visited Dubai for arranging funds.

It said that Shah was designated as secretary of this party that received these funds at Kashmir through an unknown person and travelled to Jammu to handover these funds to Singh and that this fund was arranged by Khateeb, HM terrorist operating from Pakistain, but Shah was arrested before he could hand over this terror fund to Singh.

The statement said that the investigation had established that Singh was conducting online meetings and interviews with an adversary and in his online address he had compared a terrorist, Maqbool Bhat with Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev and termed Bhat a "freedom fighter and martyr of J&K, who laid down his life for the independence of J&K".

It said that in one such online interview, Singh about the abrogation of Article 370 challenged and threatened the Government of India to desist from further breaking J&K.

The statement said that the association of Singh with Khateeb and other cadres of HM operating from Pakistain had also been established in the investigation.

It said that anti-national and highly-inflammatory content had been recovered by the SIA from Singh's mobile phone which establishes his intention to damage and threaten the unity, integrity, and illusory sovereignty of India.

Security forces seize dozens of pistols, rifle parts from smugglers on Jordan border
[IsraelTimes] In separate incidents, three Paleostinians and a Bedouin man arrested trying to bring 45 handguns, almost 100 gun parts into West Bank

Israeli security forces arrested four men suspected of smuggling weapons into the West Bank from Jordan in separate incidents the past two nights, confiscating 45 handguns and dozens of assault rifle weapon parts in the process, the military and police said.

In the first incident Friday morning, the Israel Defense Forces said troops spotted a suspicious vehicle stop along the Jordanian border, with a suspect getting out to pick up a bag left on the fence. After a brief chase, the car was stopped and two suspects in possession of 11 handguns were captured, according to the Israel Police. Police said the pair, a Paleostinian from Hebron and an Israeli man from the southern Bedouin town of Hura, will appear in court Saturday night for a remand hearing.

In the second incident early Saturday, IDF troops and coppers were dispatched to the border after receiving intelligence from the Shin Bet security agency about a planned smuggling attempt. Two Paleostinian suspects from Jericho were detained in the area, police and the IDF said. Officials said the pair were carrying 34 handguns and dozens of parts for M16 assault rifles — 36 bolt carriers and 56 upper receivers.

Last month, the IDF said there had been a "significant rise" in attempts to smuggle weapons into Israel and the West Bank from Jordan, counting more than 300 guns seized since the beginning of the year. In 2020 and 2021 combined, 300 firearms were seized along the eastern frontier, the IDF said. Law enforcement officials have indicated guns smuggled in from Jordan are often sold to Arab Israelis and West Bank Paleostinians, for both criminal and terrorist purposes.

The military and police have stepped up efforts to halt smuggling attempts along the Jordanian border in recent months.

Unlike Israel’s other frontiers — with Egypt, Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity™, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade...
and Syria — its border with Jordan is largely open, often without significant fencing, and is relatively unguarded, making it an easy channel for large-scale smuggling.

Authorities have increasingly sought to crack down on the spread of illegal weapons in the Arab Israeli community, which have been used to carry out a record-breaking number of murders in recent years. According to the Abraham Initiatives, a group lobbying against violence in the Arab community, last year 125 Arabs were killed in Israel in community violence — an all-time record. Since the beginning of 2022, another 80 have been killed in incidents of violence.

IDF says troops opened fire at group of armed Palestinians near Nablus, killing one

crossings for Paleostinians to close over Rosh Hashana

A Paleostinian gunman was killed in a clash with Israeli forces near Nablus early Sunday morning, the military said, as troops were put on high alert ahead of the upcoming Jewish holidays.

The Israel Defense Forces said troops identified a group of armed Paleostinians driving near Nablus on a cycle of violence and by car.

"IDF troops shot up the gunnies. Hits were identified," the IDF said.

The group was thought to have been heading to commit a shooting attack in the area.

An armed Paleostinian faction calling itself "Lion’s Den" announced that a member, Saeed Kuni, was killed in the clash. His body was reportedly being held by the IDF. Several other members were hurt in the clash, according to Paleostinian media reports. Images posted to social media showed a burnt cycle of violence and a car damaged by gunfire.

The group — based in Nablus’ old city — was established in recent months by members of various terror groups. Some of its members were apparently previously affiliated with the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade and Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
. Lion’s Den is tied to Ibrahim Nabulsi, a wanted Paleostinian gunman who was killed in an Israeli raid in Nablus last month. It has grabbed credit for numerous attacks in the northern West Bank in recent weeks.

Later Sunday, the military announced the arrest of four suspects in the West Bank — including two in Nablus — as part of a months-long counter-terror crackdown. An IDF statement said gunfire was heard in the area during the operation.

Another suspect was detained in the Nablus-area village of Jalud, while the fourth was arrested in Hebron.

the IDF was on high alert across the West Bank amid the uptick in attacks, and ahead of the upcoming Jewish holidays. During Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and the first and last days of Sukkot, Israel will close crossings to the West Bank and Gaza Strip for Paleostinians. Such closures are standard practice during festivals and holidays. The military says they are a preventative measure against attacks in periods of increased tension.

Death toll in Iran rises as week-long Mahsa Amini protests continue
[NYPOST] Iran’s official death toll more than doubled to 35 Saturday as a violent crackdown by Iran’s security forces continued to brutalize anti-regime protesters on the eighth straight day of demonstrations.

State media acknowledged the increase in its official toll from the 17 dead — including five security officers — it had previously claimed, the Times of Israel reported.

But Oslo-based Iran Human Rights estimated that at least 50 dissidents have been killed in the ongoing protests, while Amnesty International denounced “a harrowing pattern of Iranian security forces deliberately and unlawfully firing live ammunition at protesters.”

The group said it had reviewed video footage proving that “on the night of 21 September alone, shootings by security forces left at least 19 people dead, including at least three children.” It is continuing to investigate reports of additional deaths.

Demonstrations have erupted across the country since Mahsa Amini, 22, died in state custody last week after being arrested by the feared Morality Police for letting her hair peek out from under her headscarf — violating the strict women’s dress code enforced by the regime’s harsh morality police.

Pro-government rallies held in Iran amid mass protests

[An Nahar] Iranian counterprotesters gathered across the country on Friday in a show of support for authorities after nearly a week of anti-government protests and unrest over the death of a young woman who was being held by the morality police.A few thousand people attended a rally in the capital, Tehran, where they waved Iranian flags, and similar demonstrations were held in other cities. The government claimed the demonstrations of support were spontaneous. Similar rallies have been held during past periods of widespread protests.

The pro-government demonstrators chanted against America and Israel, according to state media, reflecting the official line that foreign countries are fomenting the latest unrest.

State TV, meanwhile, suggested the corpse count from this week's unrest could be as high as 26. Anti-government protesters and security forces have clashed in several major cities in the most severe political unrest since 2019, when rights groups say hundreds were killed amid demonstrations against a hike in state-controlled gasoline prices.

has also disrupted internet access and tightened restrictions on popular platforms used to organize rallies like Instagram and WhatsApp.

A state TV anchor said late Thursday that 26 protesters and coppers had been killed since the protests erupted last Saturday after the funeral of the 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, without elaborating on how authorities reached that figure. He said official statistics would be released later, but during past periods of unrest authorities have not provided a full accounting of deaths and injuries.

A tally by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named, based on statements from state-run and semiofficial media, shows that at least 11 people have been killed. Most recently, the deputy governor of Qazvin, Abolhasan Kabiri, said that a citizen and paramilitary officer had been killed in unrest that rocked two cities in the northwestern province.

The crisis unfolding in Iran began as a public outpouring of anger over the the death of Amini, a young woman who was arrested by the morality police in Tehran last week for allegedly wearing her Islamic headscarf too loosely. The police said she died of a heart attack and was not mistreated, but her family has cast doubt on that account.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have launched an artillery attack on “terrorist” bases in northern Iraq

Would these be the same communities that Turkey keeps attacking?
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards launched an artillery attack on anti-Iranian holy warrior bases in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq on Saturday, Iranian state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
reported.

"Headquarters of anti-Iranian terrorists" based in northern Iraq were targeted by the Guards, state TV said, in reference to Kurdish groups based there.

Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
has blamed the armed Iranian Kurdish dissidents of involvement in ongoing unrest in the country, particularly in the northwest where most of Iran's up to 10 million Kurds live.

"These operations... will continue in order to ensure viable border security, punish criminal Lions of Islam and hold officials (of the Kurdish Regional Government) accountable toward international regulations and their legal duties," the Guards said in a televised statement.

Iranian officials have often called on the KRG to curb the activities of Iranian Kurdish groups in the area. They also say Israeli agents are based in the region, which is denied by KRG.

Iran has repeatedly targeted Kurdish rebel groups in Iraq’s Kurdish region. There have been frequent festivities in the remote and mountainous border region between Iranian security forces and holy warrior groups opposed to the Tehran government.
Rudaw has the answer:
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Saturday shelled offices of Kurdish opposition groups in Erbil’s Sidakan district, accusing the Kurdish parties of inciting "chaos" in the country as demonstrations condemning the controversial death of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini grow by the day.

Amini’s death, while in police custody for allegedly wearing the hijab in an improper manner, sparked outrage across the Kurdish areas of western Iran

(Rojhelat) where large demonstrations and strikes have been held for over a week. The town of Oshnavieh, known in Kurdish as Shno, reportedly fell into the hands of protesters on Friday evening, as videos circulating on Iranian and Kurdish social media depicted thousands of young men and women marching through the city, and setting ablaze government offices, banks, and an IRGC base.

Tasnim news agency, affiliated with the IRGC, stated that the shelling targeted offices of Komala and the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) for allegedly sending "armed teams and a large amount of weapons... to the border cities of the country to cause chaos."

Sidakan’s mayor Ihsan Chalabi confirmed the news to Rudaw, saying the incident has not resulted in any casualties or damages, apart from starting fires in the mountainous areas of the district.

A statement from the IRGC said that the attack comes due to the "negligence and indifference" of "regional authorities," referring to authorities in the Kurdistan Region, "in spite of numerous reminders and warning" to prevent the establishment and activities of the anti-Iranian regime groups.

It also urged the locals of the Kurdistan Region to "stay away" from offices and locations of the Kurdish gangs.

Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Leader Masoud Barzani on Monday extended his condolences to Amini’s family, wishing for the "implementation of justice."

The KDPI is a Kurdish opposition party that has waged an on-and-off armed war against the Iranian government since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Komala is a leftist Kurdish armed opposition party based in the Kurdistan Region and fighting for the rights of Kurds in Iran.

Death toll from Lebanese migrant boat tragedy rises to 86
[An Nahar] Eighty-six bodies have been recovered since a boat carrying migrants colonists from Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. High Commissioner for Refugees, called it a "heart-wrenching tragedy."

Search efforts were continuing with several people still missing since the boat sank on Thursday.

"The number of people who died has risen to 86," the head of Syrian ports Samer Kbrasli said Saturday, up from an earlier toll of 73, the official news agency SANA reported.

At least 20 people rescued were recovering in hospitals in Syria, some in a serious condition, according to the United Nations.

Lebanon, a country which hosts more than a million refugees from Syria's civil war, has since 2019 been mired in a financial crisis branded by the World Bank as one of the worst in modern times. It has become a launchpad for illegal migration, with its own citizens joining Syrian and Paleostinian refugees clamoring to leave.

More than 450,000 Paleostinians are registered in Lebanon with the U.N. agency for Paleostinian refugees, UNRWA.

As many as 150 people were on board the small boat that sank off the Syrian port of Tartus, some 50 kilometers north of Tripoli

in Lebanon, from where the migrants colonists set sail. Those on board were mostly Lebanese and Syrians and Paleostinians, and included both children and the elderly, the U.N. said.

"No one gets on these death boats lightly," UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini said in a statement. "People are taking this perilous decision, risking their lives in search of dignity."
and money, welfare, and free housing
Lazzarini said more must be done "to offer a better future and address a sense of hopelessness in Lebanon and across the region, including among Paleostine refugees."

Since 2020, Lebanon has seen a spike in the number of migrants colonists using its shores to attempt the perilous crossing in jam-packed boats to reach Europe. Most of the boats setting off from Lebanon head for European Union
