Seattle police chief to resign following department cuts
SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle’s police chief says she is stepping down, a move made public the same day the City Council approved reducing the department by as many as 100 officers through layoffs and attrition.

Carmen Best, the city’s first Black police chief, said in a letter to the department that her retirement will be effective Sept. 2 and the mayor has appointed Deputy Chief Adrian Diaz as the interim chief, KING-TV reported Monday. Councilmembers had approved the cuts Monday.

"I am confident the department will make it through these difficult times," Best said in the letter. "You truly are the best police department in the country, and please trust me when I say, the vast majority of people in Seattle support you and appreciate you. ... I look forward to seeing how this department moves forward through the process of re-envisioning public safety. I relish the work that will be done by all of you."

In an email to police Mayor Jenny Durkan said she she accepted Best’s decision "with a very heavy heart."

"I regret deeply that she concluded that the best way to serve the city and help the department was a change in leadership, in the hope that would change the dynamics to move forward with the City Council," Durkan wrote.

Durkan and Best planned a Tuesday morning news conference.

The mayor picked Best in July of 2018 to lead the department. She had been serving as interim chief.

A military veteran, Best joined the department in 1992 and had worked in a wide variety of roles, including patrol, media relations, narcotics and operations and deputy chief.

Cuts to the department have been supported by demonstrators who have marched in the city following the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis but strongly opposed by Durkan and Best.

Measures that would cut less than $4 million of the department’s $400 million annual budget this year passed out of committee unanimously last week. On Monday, only council member Kshama Sawant voted against the budget package, saying it does not do enough to defund the police.

Seattle currently has about 1,400 police officers and the reductions fell far short of the 50% cut to the department that many Black Lives Matter protesters are seeking. Several council members on Monday said the changes were a starting point in a long process to reimagine policing and public safety.

The City Council also cut Best’s roughly $285,000 annual salary and the pay of other top police leaders, although the final cuts to Best’s salary were significantly more modest than those approved last week. The council plan also takes officers off a team that removes homeless camps.

"While we can’t do everything in this summer rebalancing package, we have set the path forward for tremendous work in front of us as a council and as a city," Council member Teresa Mosqueda said.

Durkan and Best had urged the council to slow down its discussions about police budgets, saying the issue could be taken up in earnest when the 2021 city budget is considered. They also said any layoffs would disproportionately target newer officers, often hired from Black and brown communities, and would inevitably lead to lawsuits.

Durkan has proposed cutting about $20 million from the police budget this year largely because of reduced revenues amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Last month, the mayor sketched out a plan to reduce the police budget by about $75 million next year by transferring parking enforcement officers, the 911 call center and other areas out of the department.

"It is unfortunate Council has refused to engage in a collaborative process to work with the mayor, Chief Best, and community members to develop a budget and policies that respond to community needs while accounting for — not just acknowledging — the significant labor and legal implications involved in transforming the Seattle Police Department," Durkan said in a statement after the vote.

Afghanistan
Ghani Signs Decree to Release 400 Taliban Prisoners
[ToloNews] The source said that Ghani also signed another decree on the release of the prisoners of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces who are imprisoned in government prisoners.

This comes after the Loya Jirga--the grand assembly-- in a resolution issued on Sunday approved the release of the 400 Taliban
...Arabic for students...
prisoners in an aim to quickly start the intra-Afghan talks and bring about a ceasefire and an end to the nation's war.

The resolution, which has 25 articles, was issued at Sunday's Loya Jirga session. President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money...
, former president Hamid Maybe I'll join the Taliban Karzai
...A product, and probably the sole product, of the Southern Alliance...
, and other political figures also called on the Taliban for an immediate start to the intra-Afghan talks.

The members of the Loya Jirga in the resolution welcome and support the lasting peace with dignity to bring peace and stability to the country.

The resolution also states that if imported muscle are among the 400 Taliban prisoners "they must be handed over to their countries with valid guarantees."

It also said that the release of the remaining Taliban prisoners must come with the assurance that the direct talks between the government and the Taliban will start "without any excuses."

The resolution also called for an immediate and long-lasting ceasefire and called on the international community and the Unites States to implement their commitment regarding this.

The statement also said that the people and the government of Afghanistan must be assured that the released Taliban prisoners "will not return to war and their activity will be monitored."

The resolution urged the international community to cease direct and indirect intervention in Afghanistan’s affairs and to cease their support for terrorist groups.

They urged the Taliban and Afghan government to end the violence and conflict in the country and to solve the rifts through negotiations.

It also pointed out that the "Islamic values, the role of scholars, basic government institutions, democracy and the two-decade achievements of Afghanistan "must be preserved and strengthened."

The resolution also stated that the members of the Loya Jirga believe that women, as half of the body of society, should have a legal and political status and play a constructive role and participation in all stages of the process.

The Loya Jirga members also believe that the Constitution is a national guarantee which must be preserved, but, if necessary, it is possible to amend it, in accordance with the mechanism provided for within it, the resolution said.

The resolution mentioned that the Afghan cops are guardians of the national illusory sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and must be "supported and strengthened."

According to government data, out of the 400 prisoners in question, 156 of them have been sentenced to death, 105 of them are accused of murder, 34 of them are accused of kidnapping that led to murder, 51 of them are accused of drug smuggling, 44 of them are on the blacklist of the Afghan government and its allies, 6 of them are accused of other crimes, 4 are accused of unspecified crimes.

The list of 5,000 prisoners was given to the Afghan government by the Taliban to be released ahead of intra-Afghan negotiations, which are now expected to be held in Doha.

So far, the government has released 4,600 of the prisoners on the Taliban list, and an additional 500 that were not on the Taliban list. These last 500 were freed during Eid in response to the Taliban’s announcement of a ceasefire.

Tunisia PM-designate will form a technocrat government without political parties
[EN.ALGHADEER.TV] Tunisia prime minister-designate Hichem Mechichi said on Monday he will form a technocrat government without political parties, due to the disagreement between parties in the North Africa country.

Mechichi’s decision will likely put him in confrontation with the moderate Islamist Ennahda Party, the largest party in Parliament, which announced its rejection of a government without political parties.

Fifth Column
Radical Group Calls For 50 Day "Siege" of White House & For a New World Order
Another anarcho-communist front group wants its day in the sun.
[The Jewish Voice] The group that takes credit for the Occupy Wall Street movement of 2011 has a new and even more outrageous plan in mind. They intend to "occupy" the White House, Zero Hedge pointed out.

The announcement was made by a radical online magazine called Adbusters :

It’s been nine years since we set off the political earthquake of #OccupyWallStreet, laying siege to NYC’s Zuccotti Park and inspiring thousands of similar protests around the world.

The Occupy anniversary arrives September 17th, 2020. And it may be the perfect day to trigger another global big-bang moment — a massive collective action of the sweetest kind of disobedience.

The why hardly needs recitation. Because, for these nine years, the shadows have only grown longer. Inequality has soared. Not a single Wall Street CEO spent a night in jail for his role in the 2008 financial meltdown. Politicians and corporate criminals continue to savage the public trust with impunity. And all the while, this howling void of a president, his sins too many to name, sits smugly atop a corona death-toll that may surpass two-hundred thousand Americans by Christmas.

Radical Turkish publication calls for a neo-caliphate
[Jpost] Erdogan, who became president in 2014 and ruled The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
since, has sought to strengthen Turkey's regional role as well as a leading state in the Islamic world.

A Ottoman Turkish magazine, Gercek Hayat, (True Life) praised the Islamic restoration of the Hagia Sophia church back into a mosque and declared the need to re-establish a Ottoman Turkish caliphate, according to the Simon Wiesenthal Centre.

His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
, who became Ottoman Turkish president in 2014 and has ruled Turkey since, has sought to strengthen Turkey's regional role as well as a leading state in the Islamic world.

The magazine described the remake of Hagia Sophia into a mosque as a step in the direction of establishing a caliphate that will reach Jerusalem.

"After Hagia Sophia Church opened to worship as a mosque, discussion returned to the Caliphate, along a route from Mecca to al-Quds (Jerusalem) and beyond," the magazine stated. "The shining landmark along the way is Istanbul, through the shrine of Hagia Sophia... The Philippines, Niger, Indonesia are the Land of the Caliphate, coordinating the world’s Moslems..."

The recent decision to turn the 1,500-year-old cathedral back into a mosque was another important victory for Erdogan, who is seeking to bring back the glory of Ottoman Empire.

Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director for International Relations at the Wiesenthal Centre noted that "the Hagia Sophia takeover as a mosque was also led by a more worrying Ottoman Turkish NGO - the IHH (International Humanitarian Relief Foundation)."

The organization was responsible for organizing a humanitarian flotilla, which included ten ships, with the clear intention of breaking the legally imposed Israeli blockade on Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
back in May 2010.

Curiously enough, perhaps in another act of usurpation the magazine included the famous saying by Hillel the Elder: "If I am not for myself, who will be? / If I am only to myself, what am I? / If not now, when? - likely reinterpreting it to support Erdogan's expansionist agenda.

India-Pakistan
Terrorists trained by Pakistani commandos in Afghanistan planning attacks in Kashmir
Heads up and happy hunting to you and your lads, Dron66046!
[KhaamaPress] The Indian intelligence sources have claimed that the Death Eaters trained in Afghanistan are planning to carry out attacks in Indian-administered Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score cur, rently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
The Death Eaters have allegedly been trained by Pak commandos, Special Service Group, of the Pak military in Afghanistan, according to India Today.

The outlet claimed that it has obtained a report of the intelligence bureau which indicates that Pak agency ISI and Army are pushing more Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
/Afgan and Pathani Death Eaters in the Valley to mix-up other terrorist outfits.

It also added that the terrorists’ new strategy escape from security forces includes limited use of mobile.

According to the inputs the Talibani and Afghani terrorist commanders are using female over ground workers (OGWs) who will be staying in houses of poor people in Jammu and Kashmir, according to India Today.

According to the report, the Pakistain Army would facilitate the infiltration of 20-25 these trained cadres through the Line of Control and five to six such cadres through India-Nepal border.

The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip will see new arrivals through Rafah border crossing with Egypt for the first time since May, the Paleostinian embassy in Egypt announces.

The border will open from August 11 to August 13, the embassy says.

The Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,-run Health Ministry in Gaza says it is preparing quarantine facilities and coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)

tests for those returning.

All new arrivals in the Gaza Strip will be required to spend at least 21 days in quarantine, the Health Ministry says.

There are currently 10 cases of the novel coronavirus in the Gaza Strip, all of which have been contained in quarantine centers delegated by Hamas for new arrivals.

Gaza has so far been spared any reported community spread of the virus.

Egypt and Hamas sealed the Rafah crossing in March for those trying to leave Gaza. There has been no announcement as to when Gazooks will be allowed to exit the Strip and enter Egypt.

Ashkenazi hints Hezbollah behind Beirut blast
[JPost] - The massive explosion in Beirut is shows Hezbollah uses of Lebanese civilians and cities to cover for their terrorist actions, Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi told 12 ambassadors of UN Security Council member states at Israel’s northern border on Tuesday.

Ashkenazi made thinly-veiled hints that Hezbollah was responsible for the blast and that the 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate stored at the Beirut port may have belonged to the terrorist organization. Israel has long held that Hezbollah controlled the port.

#2  Hezbollah (frequently called Hezbshaitan locally) had control of security at portions of the port per their previous propaganda.

We don't know which loading docks were theirs or which warehouses. This seems a pretty straight forward factual question that doesn't get answered.

Iran calls on US to lift sanctions on Lebanon, urges against ‘politicizing’ Beirut blast
[EN.ALGHADEER.TV] Tehran has cautioned against politicizing the devastating blast in Beirut, arguing that Washington should drop sanctions on Leb

if it is serious about helping the nation recover from the catastrophe.

"If America is honest about its assistance offer to Lebanon, they should lift sanctions [against it]," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi said on Monday during a news conference.
"Give the money directly to Hezb'Allah. You can trust them"
In response to a question about French President Emmanual Macron’s visit to Beirut, the front man remarked that "some countries have been trying to politicize this blast for their own interests." Macron has faced criticism for using his visit to express sympathy with anti-government demonstrators. He also claimed that the country’s future "is being decided now."

Washington announced last week that it had begun to deliver aid to Lebanon in the aftermath of the earth-shattering kaboom. However,
denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
the humanitarian relief is at odds with US sanctions imposed against Hezbollah, which is part of the Lebanese government. As a result, the Pentagon has claimed that it needs to be more cautious when administering aid to Lebanon, and expressed "concerns with whom the aid would go to."

Beirut has been rocked by demonstrations following Tuesday’s explosion, which killed more than 200 people and turned a huge swath of the city into rubble. On Saturday the US Embassy in Beirut expressed solidarity with the anti-government protesters while urging all sides to "refrain from violence."

...boodling on the grand scale...
"The objective of this conference is for us to unite today to definitively pool our resources in the coming days and weeks to address the needs of Beirut's population," said president Macron as the conference began.

He later pointed that aid given to Lebanon should come with reforms under the watchful eye of the UN and "directly to the Lebanese people", away from the corrupted hands of the Lebanese government.

"It is up to the authorities of the country to act so that the country does not sink, and to respond to the aspirations that the Lebanese people are expressing right now, legitimately, in the streets of Beirut," Macron said during the virtual conference.

Scholar presents global map of Hezbollah terrorist operations
[Jpost] The map "divulges the little-known fact that in 2010, Hezbollah stored ammonium nitrate intended for making explosives in a house purchased by a French Lebanese professor."

A leading expert on the Lebanese terrorist movement Hezbollah’s operations across the globe presented last week the first-ever interactive multimedia tool chronicling the Shi’ite organization’s malign activities.
The Washington Institute thing can be explored here. It is, indeed, exhaustive.
"Hezbollah is active not only along the Blue Line, not only in Syria, but in other military conflicts throughout the region and in terrorist activity around the world," Matthew Levitt, the Hezbollah expert, told The Jerusalem Post on Friday.
