Taliban Release 16 Afghan Govt Prisoners in Balkh
[ToloNews] The Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
released 16 Afghan government prisoners in Balkh province on Tuesday, confirmed Munir Farhad, a front man for the provincial governor on Wednesday.

Farhad said that since the prisoners release process started, 40 government prisoners have been freed by the Taliban in the province.

"So far, in three steps more than 40 government prisoners have been released by the Taliban in Balkh," he said, adding: "Eight Taliban prisoners were released by the government in Balkh."

The prisoners who were released yesterday have urged the government to "take effective steps to establish lasting peace in the country."

The prisoners were in Taliban custody from between two months to one year, said the prisoners who said they were moved between districts during their captivity.

Mohammad Noor, who is a resident of Ghulaam Jan village in Balkh district and a member of the national police said he was captured by the Taliban two months ago.

"I have worked in the national police at Katakhil checkpoints in Balkh district for more than one year and while I was on my way home, I was taken by the Taliban. I didn't have my gun," he said.

Sayed Ahmad, a member of the army and a and resident of Zaray district, said: "I was on leave and wanted to come home and I was arrested by the Taliban on the way. I have been in Taliban custody for about six months."

The total released by the Taliban is 861 while the government has released 4,250.

The US-Taliban deal says that up to 5,000 Taliban prisoners should be released by the Afghan government ahead of the intra-Afghan negotiations.

The process should have happened 10 days after the peace deal, according to the agreement but it still has not been completed yet.

US Forces Exit 2 Bases in Nangarhar: Local Officials
[ToloNews] The commander of Afghan Border Forces Mohammad Ayoub Hussainkhel on Wednesday said that the US forces have withdrawn from two bases in Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province in the east, one in Achin and the other in Haska Mena district.

He said that Afghan forces have now deployed in these bases.

A TOLOnews correspondent who visited one of the bases reported on Wednesday that it is now under the control of the Afghan border forces.

However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
residents in the area said that they are concerned about their security.

"Recently the coalition forces withdrew from two bases in Nangarhar-- one in Momand Dara’s Assadkhel region of Achin," said the commander of Afghan Border Forces, Mohammad Ayoub Hussainkhel.

"Our houses were destroyed, many people were killed and maimed, who is there to compensate us now?" said Salim, a resident in Nangarhar.

"God willing, there will be no problems in the future, so far the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
or other terrorist groups have not launched any major offensives here," said Obaidullah Shinwari, the deputy head of Nangarhar's provincial council.

Haska Mena and Achin district of Nangarhar in recent years were major battlefields between the Afghan forces and the ISIS turban group. US forces were supporting Afghan troops in their anti-ISIS campaign.

Now ISIS has no presence in Haska Mena or Achin. But there is a Taliban presence in some areas of the district.

Africa North
Bashagha Deletes Tweet Vowing to Confront Egyptian Army
[ALMARSAD.CO] Fathi Ali Bashagha, had tweeted through his official Twitter account attacking the Egyptian Parliament’s decision to send troops to Libya, which he considered a violation of the charters of the Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
and the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
, which established his government without local legitimacy. He, however, deleted the tweet a few hours after posting it.

In his deleted tweet, which was archived by Al Marsad before it was deleted, Bashagha vowed to fight the Egyptian army: "We consider any forces within our borders as hostile forces and declare that we will not hesitate to defend the illusory sovereignty, security and freedom of our nation." The full tweet translates as follows:

Libyan Minister of Interior on Twitter: "Yesterday’s approval by the Egyptian Security Council of Deputies to deploy combat forces outside its western borders is to declare war on Libya and is a violation of the vaporous Arab League Charter and is a violation of the United Nations’s Charter! We consider any foreign forces within our borders as hostile forces and we declare that we will not hesitate to defend the illusory sovereignty, security, and freedom of our nation."

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
Bashagha did not elucidate whether the thousands of Syrian mercenaries and snuffies that are now stationed at the police college of his ministry wearing uniforms, are regarded as hostile foreign force or not, as one Libyan asked him on the thread of the deleted tweet.

After deleting the above tweet, which was promoted when published by Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
’s Al Jazeera networks and the rest of the Moslem Brüderbund’s media platforms at home and abroad, Bashagha went on to post another tweet in which he softened the tone of his earlier post without explaining why he had deleted it.

From a tweet that was threatening in nature he now does a volte-face and writes: "Now, more than ever, we need Libyans to leave their disagreements, and put their hands to draw their future on their own by embracing a project that brings stability, peace and reruns the economy wheel in Libya in an encompassing and democratic country that ensures justice for all."

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
as is typical of Bashagha he seems to throw catchwords around to ameliorate concerns of the international community. He mentions democracy but does not explain what democracy has to do with the idea of consensus that is detached from the electoral ballot. Bashagha is responsible for the influx of 15,000 Syrian holy warriors, many of which with terrorist links, and his collaboration with militias and organised criminal trafficking and smuggling cartels. His actions run consistently counter to all the self-promotion and PR stunts he plays with his disingenuous slogans for civil society, democracy and the rule of law.

Tajik man faces IS-related terrorism charges in Germany
[IsraelTimes] German prosecutors accuse Ravsan B. of forming Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
cell to carry out attacks, raise money for the jihadist group.

Authorities have charged a Tajik man with membership in a terrorist organization on allegations he led a group plotting attacks in Germany in coordination with Islamic State leaders in Syria and Afghanistan, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Ravsan B., whose last name wasn’t released in line with German privacy laws, also faces charges of weapons violations, preparing an act of violence, and other counts.

The 30-year-old, who has been in jug since March 2019, is accused of forming a cell of the Islamic State in Germany with other Tajik nationals no later than January 2019 to carry out attacks and raise money for the hard boy organization.

For the latter goal, they allegedly took a contract for $40,000 to kill an Albanian businessman and traveled to the country at the end of February, 2019. There they procured weapons from contacts and observed the target over several days but eventually experienced misgivings as to whether they were focused on the right man and returned to Germany without killing him, prosecutors said.

They also allegedly brought the weapons with them, and when back in Germany also procured explosives and detonators to use in an unspecified attack.

Acting on orders from an Islamic State member in Afghanistan, they decided to kill a man who had made critical comments about Islam, and take photographs to use as propaganda to raise support for the fight against "infidels," prosecutors said.

On the day the attack was planned, the suspect was arrested by German police and the killing was prevented, prosecutors said.

Four other alleged members of the cell, identified only as Azizjon B., Muhammadali G., Farhodshoh K. and Sunatullokh K. — all also Tajiks — were arrested this February and charged with membership in a terrorist organization on allegations they were plotting an attack on American military facilities in Germany.

Another suspect, identified as Komron Zukhurov, was arrested in May in Albania on allegations he was part of the cell.

Netherlands admits to paying terrorists who killed 17-year-old Israeli
[Jpost] The killers of Rina Shnerb are members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine, a designated terrorist group in the EU.

The Netherlands paid part of the salaries of two gunnies involved in killing 17-year-old Rina Shnerb last year, Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok and Development Minister Sigrid Kaag admitted to parliament on Tuesday.

The killers are members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine, a designated terrorist group in the EU, and employees of the Paleostinian Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC), to which the Dutch representative in Ramallah pledged nearly $20 million in 2013-2021.

Their salaries were paid in part by Dutch funds covering UAWC overhead costs, though they were not directly involved in the land and water management program sponsored by the Netherlands. They also received accreditation, identifying themselves as "employees of a partner organization of the Dutch representation," in Ramallah a letter from the ministers said.

The Netherlands is suspending its donations to UAWC indefinitely, pending an investigation.

"Because careful action is so important in this regard, I have decided to commission external research into any ties between the PFLP and UAWC," the ministers wrote. "The Cabinet... wants to independently determine whether and how continuation of the contributions is appropriate."

The ministers’ remarks came in response to a parliamentary question from three right-wing parties.

She also claimed that she was not previously aware of UAWC's ties to terrorist groups, though the Dutch-Israel advocacy organization Center for Information and Documentation on Israel (CIDI) and UK Lawyers for Israel reached out to the government and politicians in the Hague in May 2019 to highlight those connections, based on research by the Israeli think tank NGO Monitor.

Turkey loses F-35s and gets pressured on Mediterranean drilling
No mention of the plunging Turkish economy?
[Jpost] Turkey, whose government attempts to create regional crises every month in order to stoke tensions from Libya to Armenia, is now running into increased pressure to stop its escalation of activities in the Mediterranean. It comes as the US Air Force agreed to acquire the F-35s that were meant for Turkey but which Ankara lost because it prefers Russia and Russian S-400s to working with US NATO members.

Ankara is increasingly dominated by a militarist, nationalist and extremist government that has recently sent thousands of Syrian mercenaries to Libya, has been bombing minorities in Iraq and has also threatened to involve itself in the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict. Turkey has also been involved in northern Syria, stoking extremists and spreading instability in areas from Afrin to Tel Abyad. But it is in the Mediterranean that the next clash may come.
