Tunisian knife attacker wounds two policemen outside synagogue
[AnNahar] An assailant with a knife maimed two coppers guarding a synagogue in the center of the Tunisian capital overnight, the interior ministry said Friday.

The man had been imprisoned over a "terrorism" case and released in 2021, interior ministry front man Fakher Bouzghaya told AFP.

The suspect assaulted police deployed to guard the Grand Synagogue of Tunis in the city center, lightly wounding two officers before being overpowered.

Bouzghaya said an investigation was underway.

Before its independence from La Belle France in 1956, Tunisia was home to over 100,000 Jews, but emigration has seen their numbers fall to around a thousand.
Most went Israel, with most of the remainder to France.
Since the revolution that overthrew dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in 2011, the country has seen a number of jihadist attacks that have killed dozens of people.

The latest attack comes with the country in a deep economic and political crisis almost a year since President Kais Saied's July 2021 power grab.
And before then, too.

Several killed, wounded in Oslo as gunman opens fire at geyh bar on Pride day
[France24] A gunman went on a terrifying rampage in a gay bar and surrounding streets in Oslo on Saturday, killing two people and seriously injuring 10 on the day the city's LGBTQ community was due to celebrate its annual Pride parade.

The victims were shot inside and outside the London Pub, a well-known gay bar and nightclub open since 1979, as well as at one other bar in the centre of the Norwegian capital. "I saw a man arrive with a bag, he picked up a gun and started to shoot," said journalist Olav Roenneberg of public broadcaster NRK, who was in the area. "Then I saw the windows breaking and understood that I had to take cover."

A suspect, a 42-year-old Norwegian citizen of Iranian origin,
...France24 is the first source I am aware of that had anything to report about the identity of the miscreant...
was detained minutes after, according to police who said they believed he acted alone. Two weapons, including a fully automatic gun, were retrieved from the crime scene, they added.
"vibrant and diverse"
"There is reason to think that this may be a hate crime," officers told a news conference. "We are investigating whether the Pride was a target in itself or whether there are other motives." Oslo police spokesman Rune Hekkelstrand told Reuters the attack was also being investigated as a possible act of terrorism.
...making it a Page 1: War on Terror post. Otherwise they would have talked about mental health issues.
Update at 6:25 p.m. ET, courtesy of Skidmark in comments, because this gives us the miscreant’s name for future searches:

Top LeT man Sajid Mir quietly held, jailed in terror financing case
[Dawn] As Pak officials ticked items off their to-do list for submission of report to Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on the implementation of the action plan for getting out of its ’grey-list’, something that strengthened their case was the conviction and sentencing of top Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT) terrorist Sajid Majeed Mir.

Mir, 44, who allegedly directed the 2008 Mumbai attacks, was sentenced by an anti-terrorism court in Lahore, in the first week of this month, to 15 and a half years in jail after convicting him in a terror financing case. He was also fined Rs420,000. He is currently serving sentence in Kot Lakhpat jail, according to a source.

Iraq
Turkey claims death of PKK commander in operation in Sulaimani
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
on Friday claimed the killing of a commander of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in an intelligence operation in Sulaimani province, state media reported.

Turkey's state-owned Anadolu Agency identified the commander as Delal Azizoglu, code-named "Raperin" while attributing her death to a National Intelligence Agency (MIT) operation in Sulaimani.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
Ankara did not disclose further details on the date of the operation nor where in Sulaimani was it exactly conducted.

The PKK has not confirmed the commander's death.

Ottoman Turkish drones have targeted Sulaimani province twice from May 21 to June 17, killing at least two PKK members.

The MIT said they had killed PKK commander Mehmet Dogan in one of the attacks, which targeted Sulaimani's Aghjalar sub district last month.

The aforementioned offense received condemnation by Sulaimani province's ruling Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).

A Ottoman Turkish drone last week targeted a car carrying PKK members in Garmiyan administration's town of Kalar in Sulaimani, killing the deputy chairman of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria’s (AANES) executive council.

At least one rocket hits key gas field in Sulaimani
[Rudaw] At least one rocket targeted Khor Mor gas field, run by UAE-based Dana Gas in Sulaimani’s Chamchamal district, officials and a field employee told Rudaw on Friday in the second such attack in under a week.

A fire fighting team are putting out the fire caused by the attack, the source who preferred to stay anonymous said.

Sdiq Mohammed, head of Qadir Karam subdistrict in Chamchamal district confirmed the attack to Rudaw saying no casualties or injuries have been reported.

Ahmed Mufti, Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) natural resources deputy minister said an operations room have been formed with the security forces and that they were on their way to the area of the incident.

He later told news hounds that there is "no possibility" of Dana Gas leaving the field as "such incidents have taken place in the past as well."

The extent of the damage is still unclear.

The attack comes two days after a Katyusha rocket hit the field on Wednesday, slightly injuring two contractors.

Dana Gas said in a disclosure on Thursday said that "no damage occurred and production operations continued normally without interruption."

Khor Mor field produces 452 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, according to Dana Gas.

The Kurdistan Region has been facing an unprecedented scale of rocket and drone attacks since the start of the year. They are mostly blamed on Iran-backed militia groups.

At least two rockets targeted Peshmerga positions in Nineveh province on Tuesday, stated the Kurdistan Region’s counter-terrorism, without resulting in any casualties or material damage.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Security forces arrest three in al-Hol security operation
[Rudaw] Security forces in northeast Syria (Rojava) launched an operation in the infamous al-Hol camp on Friday arresting several people suspected of carrying out liquidations as violence continues to surge in the camp, a conflict monitor reported.

The notorious al-Hol camp in Rojava’s Hasaka province continues to experience violence, with liquidations in the camp largely attributed to Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) affiliates.

As a result of the security campaign, three suspects were arrested within the squalid camp, which has reported five deaths since the beginning of June, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The camp has been branded a breeding ground for terrorism, with Kurdish and Iraqi authorities describing the sprawling camp as a "ticking time bomb," saying the situation in the camp is "very dangerous" with ISIS sleeper cells roaming the area.

Security forces frequently launch operations to arrest ISIS affiliates at the camp.

Iran replaces Revolutionary Guards' intelligence chief amid recent deaths of officers
More on this story from yesterday.
[SHAFAQ] Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Thursday replaced its intelligence chief Hossein Taeb, who had held the position for more than 12 years, the Guards said in a statement.

“The Guards’ chief Major General Hossein Salami appointed General Mohammad Kazemi as the new head of the IRGC Intelligence Organisation,” Guards spokesman Ramezan Sharif said in the statement.

Salami also appointed Taeb, who is a cleric, as his own adviser, according to the statement.
Ha ha! That’ll fool those Zionazi juices, for sure!
The replacement of the intelligence chief comes after the killing of a number of members of the Guards, which is designated as a terrorist group by Iran’s arch enemy the United States.

Iran and US ally Israel have been engaged in a years-long shadow war but tensions have ratcheted up following a string of high-profile incidents Tehran has blamed on the Jewish state.

On June 13, Ali Kamani, a member of the Guards’ aerospace division, was killed while on a mission in Khomein in the central province of Markazi, the Guards said in a statement without elaborating.

Earlier in June, Colonel Ali Esmailzadeh, a commander of the Guards’ external operations unit, the Quds Force, died “in an accident in his home”, according to state news agency IRNA.

And on May 22, Guards Colonel Sayyad Khodai, 50, was killed outside his home in the east of the Iranian capital by attackers on motorbikes who shot him five times.

State television in Iran said Khodai was a member of the Quds Force and that he was “known” in Syria, where Iran has acknowledged deploying “military advisers”.

The Guards described Khodai as a “defender of the sanctuary”, a term used for those who work on behalf of the Islamic republic in Syria or Iraq.

The Guards accused “Zionists” of being behind the assassination and vowed revenge.

Israel urges its citizens to leave Turkey after arrests

Israel last week urged its citizens to leave Turkey immediately because of “possible” threats from Iranian operatives.

Media outlets in Turkey on Thursday reported the arrest of eight people allegedly working for an Iranian intelligence cell that planned to kill Israeli tourists in Istanbul.

ISIS kills nine Syrian soldiers in eastern Syria

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that ISIS had killed nine Syrian soldiers in eastern Syria.

The attack is the latest in a series in the area.

According to SOHR, 30 Syrian soldiers were killed this week by the terrorist organization.

The festivities erupted on Wednesday in a remote area of Raqa province and killed seven terrorists, SOHR said.

Also, a bus carrying members of the Syrian army and allied forces was attacked on the desert road linking the cities of Raqa and Homs, leaving at least 15 dead.

The monitor also said that on Wednesday, another four soldiers were killed in an ISIS ambush near Dumayr military airport, east of Damascus, and two more were killed earlier this week in the Raqa region.

It is worth noting that ISIS keeps carrying out guerrilla-style attacks against the Syrian regime and Kurdish-led forces in eastern Syria, as well as against government and allied troops in Iraq.

President Aoun meets Hamas leader in Baabda
[An Nahar] President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
stressed Friday the Paleostinians' right to return to their homeland and build their independent state, as he met Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, leader Ismail Haniyeh
...became Prime Minister of Gaza after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank...
in Baabda.

Haniyeh said, after the meeting, that he refuses the naturalization of Paleostinian refugees in Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
and the idea of an alternative homeland.

"I have told President Aoun that we refuse displacement," Haniyeh added, stressing on "the right to return to Paleostine."

"The Israeli occupation does not differentiate between a Moslem and a Christian in Paleostine, especially in Jerusalem," Haniyeh told Aoun.

He also expressed his solidarity with Lebanon as he condemned Israel's attempt "to steal from Lebanon's maritime resources," pointing to a gas production vessel that Israel had moved into an offshore field partly claimed by Beirut, earlier this month.

He added that he hopes for "security, stability and more unity" in Lebanon.

Haniyeh had arrived in Beirut on Tuesday, for meetings aimed at "strengthening cooperation and fraternity between the Paleostinian and the Lebanese people", a Hamas statement said.
