Black Lives Matter has nearly $42 million in assets: IRS documents
And how much in liabilities?
[FoxNews] The BLM Foundation has an operating budget of $4 million

According to 63-pages of tax documents acquired by the Associated Press, executives of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation Inc. have nearly $42 million in assets, despite spending more than $37 million from July 2020 to June 2021.

The $37 million was spent on grants, real estate, consultants and other expenses.

BLM received $90 million in donations amid the 2020 protests and riots that were carried out in major cities across the U.S. following the death of George Floyd. The foundation reports it invested $32 million in stocks from the $90 million in donations, according to the tax documents.

Organizers tell the Associated Press that the investment is expected to become an endowment to ensure the foundation’s work continues in the future.

The foundation has an operating budget of $4 million, a board member told the Associated Press, but the tax filing showed the BLM Foundation spent nearly $6 million on a mansion in Los Angeles, according to the report.

The BLM Foundation has operated as a nonprofit sponsored by a charity before it became an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit in December 2020, requiring it to publicly disclose its finances.

"This 990 reveals that (the BLM foundation) is the largest Black abolitionist nonprofit organization that has ever existed in the nation’s history. What we’re doing has never been done before," said Shalomyah Bowers, the foundation’s board secretary.

Brian Mittendorf, Ph.D., an accounting professor at Ohio State University, said the disclosure will likely set up the foundation for criticism as its "huge windfall" has a "mismatch" and "gaps" in its data.

"It comes across as an early startup nonprofit, without substantial governance structure in place, that got a huge windfall," Mittendorf told the outlet.

"People are going to be quick to assume that mismatch reflects intent. Whether there’s anything improper here, that is another question," the professor continued. "But whether they set themselves up for being criticized, I think that certainly is the case because they didn’t plug a bunch of those gaps."

The BLM Foundation started in 2013 after the death of Trayvon Martin, 17, and grew following the death of Michael Brown, 18, the following year.

Biden's new border tent village: Border Patrol sets up new compound to house more migrants and speed up processing amid confusion over when Title 42 will end
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News]
  • Border Patrol has set up a new massive tent compound in Eagle Pass, Texas as they prepare for the possible end of Title 42 in one week

  • The structure is meant to speed up processing and expand housing capacity in the Del Rio sector, a popular area for migrants to attempt to cross the border

  • DOJ lawyers and attorneys representing a cadre of GOP-led states argued in court on Friday over the CDC health policy that allows for immediate expulsion

  • The Biden administration stressed that the CDC has the authority to end Title 42 because it is a public health order, not an immigration order

Afghanistan
Taliban Invites Ashraf Ghani to Attend the Afghan Assembly
[KhaamaPress] Former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, ex-president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. When Biden abandoned the country left with a helicopter, four cars, and part of the national treasury...
has been asked to attend the Afghan Assembly, according to a Taliban diplomat.

The Taliban ambassador to Moscow, Jamal Nasser Gharwal, was reported by Russia’s Sputnik news agency as stating that the group had organized an “Afghan Assembly” conference and that Ashraf Ghani had been invited to visit Kabul.

Before the Taliban captured Kabul on August 15, 2021, Ashraf Ghani and his wife fled from the presidential palace, and there are claims that he carried about $21 million from the central bank’s reserves.

Political figures who had sought asylum outside of Afghanistan, according to Nasser Gharwal, are asked to attend.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid had previously told the media that the meeting would take place soon.

Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid had previously told the media that the meeting would take place soon.

According to reports, members of different sections society will be invited to the meeting, which is expected to be comprehensive. The Taliban will discuss two issues at the meeting, the first of which is Afghanistan’s frozen assets, and the second of these is the Taliban’s political legitimacy.

According to recent reports, the gathering would focus on Afghanistan’s future political structure and the formation of an inclusive government.

Ashraf Ghani has been invited to the meeting, and every time he appears on social media, he receives negative reactions and makes headlines.

Ashraf Ghani’s current residence is unknown. Ashraf Ghani returned to Afghanistan this week, according to the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran

The news agency backed up this assertion by claiming that Taliban Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Stanekzai remained in Abu Dhabi awaiting Ashraf Ghani’s return.

Islamic Emirate: Over 130,000 Soldiers Recruited
[ToloNews] More than 130,000 troops have been recruited, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said, adding that it is aiming toward 150,000.
Yes, but will they be taught to read, write, and do jumping jacks like the Coalition did? And whatever happened to East Point?
"More than 130,000 people have been registered and this process will continue. With the completion of registration, the Afghans will see an independent, well-formed and committed military who will provide security and defend the Afghan soil and borders," said Inayatullah Khwarazami, a front man for the MoD.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
the uniform for the new troops has yet to be determined.

Khwarazami said all former female employees of the MoD are still being paid and some of them are still working within the ministry.

"The women who were working in the Ministry of Defense are still working, for example, they are in the health department and other departments. The leadership of the Islamic Emirate and Defense Ministry will make a decision about them. They are still receiving their salaries," Khwarazai said.

Veterans suggested that professional and experienced individuals should be included in the military.

"The important things are the education and professional training, capability, equipment and budget," said Asadullah Nadeem, a military veteran.

"A neutral, real, professional and independent army should be formed," said Samar Sadat, a military veteran.

The number of Afghan National Defense and Security Forces of the former government has reached more than 350,000.

After the former ANDSF collapsed, many soldiers of the foreign government are currently struggling with severe economic conditions.

Reversing Trump, Biden acts to deploy US troops to Somalia
[Garowe] President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. The very model of probity, except maybe for abandoning Afghanistan...
on Monday signed an order to deploy U.S. troops to Somalia amid heightened concerns about the country’s Islamic bad boy rebels,
Ohfergawdsake!
known as al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
The move is a reversal of President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
’s decision last year to remove nearly all 700 special operations forces that had been operating there.

Biden’s decision, confirmed by a senior administration official, comes after Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin requested the deployment "to reestablish a persistent U.S. military presence in Somalia to enable a more effective fight against al-Shabaab, which has increased in strength and poses a heightened threat."

The official, who requested anonymity to discuss a decision that has not been formally announced, said American forces already in the region would be repositioned.

U.S. military commanders have been deploying U.S. forces into Somalia for short rotations since Trump ordered American troops out during his final days in office in 2021.

But Pentagon officials did not see that as an "effective long-term strategy" and had been considering recommending the redeployment for some time, according to a U.S. military official who was not authorized to publicly discuss the matter and spoken on the condition of anonymity.

Biden’s decision to sign the order was first reported by The New York Times

... which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

Al-Shabaab, which has ties with al-Qaeda, has made territorial gains against Somalia’s federal government in recent months, reversing the gains of African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
peacekeepers who once had pushed the holy warriors into remote areas of the country.

Word of the deployment decision came after Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who served as Somalia’s president between 2012 and 2017, was announced on Sunday as the winner of a protracted election.

No one who cares about this country would be plunging us BACK into a worthless shithole like Somalia.

No American patriot would trash our economy, create hyperinflation, bring us to the brink of a recession - and then spend SIXTY BILLION on a totally worthless adventure in a shithole like Ukraine.

This is not "ineptitude." This is by design.

Europe
French city rekindles burkini brouhaha with pool rule change
Islam means surrender.
[IsraelTimes] Grenoble municipal council plans to scrap bathing suit code that bans the full-body covering that critics see as example of creeping Islamism

The Alpine city of Grenoble is set to reignite one of La Belle France’s recurring summer debates on Monday when it votes to authorize the "burkini" in state-run swimming pools.

The all-in-one swimsuit, used by some Moslem women to cover their bodies and hair while bathing, has become almost as topical as ice cream and sun hats during the holiday season in recent years.

Iraq
Kurdish female deminers clear local area of explosives
[Rudaw] Ten Kurdish female deminers, the first group of its kind in Iraq, have been clearing mines dispersed across the Kurdistan Region’s border areas for seven months, defusing active explosive ordnances that pose a threat to those residing in the area.

Five days a week, the deminers working for the Mine Advisory Group (MAG) work to defuse mines at the Lalomari minefield which is 22,000 square meters, situated in the mountainous areas of Sharbazehr, Sulaimani province, near the Iranian border. The group has been working in the Kurdistan Region since 1992.

"I have fallen off the ground many times, injuring my hands, and hitting my hands with a hammer. But, thankfully, all went well... When you detect a mine, you become very happy, because you save someone else's life from death," Shaniya Mariwan, a deminer, told Rudaw’s Nizar Jaza last week.

Prior to starting field work, the deminers had to undergo six weeks of training.

According to data from local authorities, a total of eight people and more than a hundred sheep have so far been killed by mines.

Jabar Fatih, in charge of MAG activities in Sulaimani and Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
told Rudaw that, "they perform very well. There is no difference in performance between them and the men. They do the very same job."

There are tens of millions of unwent kaboom! landmines and explosive ordnances across the Kurdistan Region’s borders with Iran, and the remnants date back to more than three decades ago, during the devastating Iran-Iraq war from 1980 to 1988.

There are around 3,000 minefields in the Kurdistan Region. Around 2,700 people have been killed by landmines and 10,800 others maimed or maimed since the 1990s, according to the KRG’s Mine Action Agency.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Sunday's vote early results: LF, independents make significant gains

leader Wiam Wahhab, and Assaad Hardan of the Syrian Socialist Nationalist Party have lost in Sunday's parliamentary vote, according to early results.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch started the buffalo stampeding......
the LF said it won at least 20 seats, adding five members from the 2018 vote. This would make it the largest Christian bloc in parliament, replacing the Free Patriotic Movement
Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic...
The October 17 forces said they won at least seven seats, three in Beirut II, three in Chouf-Aley and one in South III, with a reported probability of a second breakthrough in the South III.

Hardan, a strong Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...

region of Aley against longtime Druze politician Talal Arslan, said he's "heading to a big victory."

In Beirut II, the list backed by ex-PM Fouad al-Saniora won one seat and the Hizbullah, Amal, FPM list won three seats, while the October 17 forces won at least two seats. The PSP candidate on Saniora's backed list, MP Faisal al-Sayegh, lost his seat to the Druze candidate who ran on MP Fouad Makhzoumi's list. The latter's list won two seats.

In Beirut I, the LF have won so far 3 seats, while independent candidate Paula Yaacoubian's list Li Watani won two seats, the FPM won two and the Kataeb two.

In Sidon-Jezzine, the LF won 2 seats and the Free Patriotic Movement and Amal lost in an unprecedented defeat in this district.

Ghada Ayyoub (LF), Abdel Rahman al-Bizri, Oussama Saad, Said al Asmar (LF) and independent candidate Charbel Massaad won the highest votes in the district.

In Batroun, FPM chief Jebran Bassil maintained his seat while the LF won the second seat by a higher number of votes.

In West Bekaa, according to early results, Hassan Murad, Wael Abou Faour, Qabalan Qabalan, Charbel Maroun, independent candidate Yassin Yassin, and Ghassan Skaf will likely win, while Deputy Speaker Elie Ferzli will likely lose.

In Akkar, the FPM won three seats while ex-Mustaqbal
... the Future Movement, political party led by Saad Hariri...
affiliated, MP Hadi Hbeish, has lost.

In Tripoli

-Minieh-Dinniyeh, Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi's list has won at least 3 seats, for the first time, with one seat to an allied LF candidate, while Faisal Karami's seat is not guaranteed yet.

In the Metn district, the Kataeb, the LF, and the FPM have won 2 seats each. Michel Murr and Hagop Pakradounian have also won.

In Baadba, the FPM lost one of its past seats to an LF-allied candidate Camille Chamoun of the National Libaral Party (al-Ahrar).

Al Ahram explains:
Early results: Lebanon's Hezbollah suffers election losses

[AlAhram] Lebanon's militant Hezbollah group and its allies appear to have suffered some losses in this weekend's parliamentary elections, with their opponents gaining more seats and some of their traditional partners not making it into the legislature, early results showed Monday.

Despite the apparent setback, Hezbollah and its main Shiite ally, the Amal group of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, are likely to retain the 27 seats allocated to the sect. The unofficial results show that independents, including those from the 2019 protest movement, made some gains by removing longtime politicians from parliament.

The closely watched elections on Sunday were the first since a devastating economic crisis erupted in Lebanon in October 2019, triggering nationwide protests against the ruling class blamed for decades of corruption and mismanagement.

It was also the first election since the August 2020 Beirut port explosion that killed more than 200 people, injured thousands and destroyed parts of the Lebanese capital. The blast, widely blamed on negligence, was set off by hundreds of tons of poorly stored ammonium nitrate that ignited in a port warehouse.

The Saudi-backed Christian Lebanese Forces party, which has been among the most vocal critics of the Iran-armed Hezbollah, says it won at least 20 seats, adding five members from the 2018 vote. This would make it the largest Christian bloc in parliament, replacing the Free Patriotic Movement that was founded by President Michel Aoun and has been a Hezbollah ally since 2006.

Independents also appear to be making some significant gains, but they remain far from making changes as the main winners of the vote are likely to be mainstream political group.

A strong Hezbollah ally in south Lebanon reportedly lost his seat to an independent, while another independent, Mark Daou, says ``we are heading to a big victory.'' Daou is running in the Mount Lebanon region of Aley against longtime Druze politician Talal Arslan.

Official results were expected to be announced later Monday.

Lebanon holds elections every four years and the new parliament will elect a new president after Aoun's term ends in October.
