I'd like to note, he released this within a couple days of Trump starting to ask questions about his transcripts. I suspect he was holding onto this so he could release it as a distraction from someone starting to ask really uncomfortable questions.
I still think Trump is running interference for the Zero, but I think he may have actually stumbled into an important question and this was released to distract from this.

Steve White: In all fairness, it's not right to say, "Okay, here's a piece of evidence. That satisfies me. So nobody else can say otherwise. Last tag." If you don't want it talked about, then don't talk about it in the first place.
That is, the former policy of nothing, ever, about birtherism was just fine. It should be kept. Don't pretend that the issue is resolved, however.

Huh. The long delay had me thinking that (while Mr. Obama was actually born a U.S. citizen) there was something wrong with the birth certificate. Something trivial like a missing date or signature. Looks like I was wrong.
So why the heck did it take so long to release this?
* I listened to Rush during the midday errands, who noted that it's interesting that Zero will dignify Trump with a response, but won't really dignify Ryan with one.
* Also, what Lotp said in the other thread. "Helicopter Ben" is spooling up the turbines again, suddenly Zero needs reasons to claim to be a legitimate president instead of facing how he's doing an illegitimate job.

If this thing turns out to be fake, for the first time I'd wonder if the "birther nonsense" is really nonsense. However, I would not want to see the 'Burg get hijacked by the debate.
Requesting a document be made public that validates a Consitutional requirement to occupy the Oval Office is a hit on ones reputation? Just shows the contempt people have for the Constitution and the general public by the One and by others as well.

It is important to separate the two issues here.
Issue one, the person -- Barack Obama -- was not born in Hawaii. This is totally busted and dumb. Worthy of ridicule.
Issue two, not a single State requires that a candidate for Federal office, President, Senator or Representative, provide any evidence of Constitutional eligibility in order to appear on the ballot or be selected by the State's electors. This is a real threat to the Republic, which must be corrected by law at the State level.
Rantburg's policy should differentiate between the personal and the procedural.

Several people have been killed or wounded after an Afghan air force officer exchanged fire with foreign troops at Kabul airport during an argument, the defence ministry says. Separately, that CIA analysis of cultural differences appears to have been spot on. The BBC story says there was a disagreement in the meeting, and in response Mr. Gul commenced shooting.

I don't think it's too worthless to save. I just don't believe that US troops are necessary to do it. Get us out of there and give Karzai a $5b* annual stipend to keep it together. Najibullah kept the country going for 3 years after the Soviet withdrawal until Yeltsin imposed an oil embargo:
The civil war continued in Afghanistan after the Soviet withdrawal. The Soviet Union left Afghanistan deep in winter, with intimations of panic among Kabul officials. The Afghan mujahideen were poised to attack provincial towns and cities and eventually Kabul, if necessary.
Najibullah's regime, though failing to win popular support, territory, or international recognition, was however able to remain in power until 1992. Ironically, until demoralized by the defections of its senior officers, the Afghan Army had achieved a level of performance it had never reached under direct Soviet tutelage. Kabul had achieved a stalemate that exposed the mujahideen's weaknesses, political and military. But for nearly three years, while Najibullah's government successfully defended itself against mujahideen attacks, factions within the government had also developed connections with its opponents.
According to Russian publicist Andrey Karaulov, the main trigger for Najibullah losing power was Russia's refusal to sell oil products to Afghanistan in 1992 for political reasons (the new Yeltsin government did not want to support the former communists), which effectively triggered an embargo. The defection of General Abdul Rashid Dostam and his Uzbek militia, in March 1992, further undermined Najibullah's control of the state. In April, Najibullah and his communist government fell to the mujahideen, who replaced Najibullah with a new governing council for the country.

Mr Zemarai added that two security guards of NATO supply vehicles were hurt in the incident.
Responsibility of the attack has yet to be claimed.
Helmand is one of the strong-holds of the Taliban in southern Afghanistan.
There are around 10,000 Uk troops stationed in the province.
Helmand is one of the seven provinces whose security responsibility will be handed over to Afghan forces in the first phase of security transition that is expected to begin in July this year.

[Al Jazeera] A senior al-Qaeda leader, NATO's second most wanted fighter in the country, was killed in an Arclight airstrike in eastern Kunar province, ... which is right down the road from Binny's house in Chitral... bordering Pakistain, an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) statement said.
Abu Hafs al-Najdi, also known as Abdul Ghani, a Soddy Arabian, was killed 12 days ago in Dangam district, on April 13, as he met other senior bully boyz and al-Qaeda members, an ISAF statement said.
"Abdul Ghani was responsible for the co-ordination of numerous high-profile attacks. On the morning of his death, he reportedly directed the suicide kaboom that killed tribal elder Malik Zarin and nine other Afghan civilians," ISAF said.
Abu Hafs al-Najdi was al-Qaeda's operations chief for Kunar and was responsible for establishing beturbanned goon camps and training sites throughout the volatile mountain province.
ISAF said he was one of more than 25 al-Qaeda operatives killed in Afghanistan during operations over the past month in the leadup to Afghanistan's summer fighting months.
News of his death came a day after hundreds of captured fighters tunnelled their way out of a high-security jail in southern Kandahar, triggering an extensive manhunt and tightening of security along the Pakistain border.
Najdi, whose real name was Saleh Naiv Almakhlvi Day, controlled and armed a network of armed fighters that targeted Afghan and ISAF security force outposts throughout Kunar, including two in February, ISAF said.
He was also No.23 on Soddy Arabia's list of 85 most wanted people issued in 2009, which said he was active in either Afghanistan, Pakistain or Iran. ISAF began hunting him in Afghanistan in 2007.
ISAF said Najdi was with a Pak Qaeda operative named Waqas when the Arclight airstrike took place, killing both, as well as an unspecified number of other fighters.
"Abdul Ghani commonly instructed subordinate leaders to conduct kidnapping operations against foreigners ... and he was responsible for directing suicide kabooms targeting US government officials," ISAF said.
Insurgents in the country are under stepped up pressure from NATO-led troops and a growing Afghan army ahead of the start this summer of a transfer of security responsibilities from foreign to Afghan forces.
An ISAF front man would not name the coalition's top target for fear of hampering their search, but alliance commanders have previously claimed there are only 50 to 100 Qaeda gunnies still active in Afghanistan.
The withdrawal of US forces from the Korengal and Pech river valleys in Kunar in late 2009 has created more space for al Qaeda and the Taliban to expand their operations in the region, security website The Long War Journal said.

I continue to be perplexed by our (CIA's) ability to "action" these vermin from the air with total aplomb and impunity, whilst on the ground detaining them for more than a few hours or days becomes instantly problematic.
At least two Somali government soldiers have been killed and five others maimed after bitter festivities broke out among the transitional government troops in south Mogadishu.
Fierce infighting erupted in the strategic KM 4 Junction near Mogadishu International Airport on Monday after Somali government forces riding a pick-up truck attempted to disarm a unit of Somali troops. Four women were also maimed during the bloody battle, a Press TV correspondent in Mogadishu reported.
The latter group had fired gunshots into the air, smashed windows and looted shops in the area, before it was disarmed.
Capt. Abdi Mohamed, a Somali military official, told Press TV that the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) does not accept that its troops launch attacks against unarmed civilians. Iran Press TV boilerplate spittle from this point on:
Somalia has not had a functioning government since 1991, when warlords overthrew former dictator Mohamed Siad Barre.
The Somali government has struggled for years to restore security but efforts have not yet yielded results in the nation.

There are more than 1.4 million internally displaced persons (IDP) in Somalia. More than 300,000 IDPs have been sheltered in Mogadishu alone.

MISURATA, Libya -- At least one NATO warplane attacked a rebel position on the front lines of this besieged city on Wednesday, a rebel commander said, killing 12 fighters and wounding five others in what he called an accident that could have been avoided.
The rebels were at first reluctant to admit the killings had occurred, saying they did not want to discourage further Arclights air strikes against the forces of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi, who have been shelling Misurata and pounding it with ground-to-ground rocket fire. The pace of NATO strikes had picked up noticeably in recent days, after rebel leaders complained of a lack of support after the United States turned over operational control of the air campaign to NATO at the end of March.
But as the bodies of the killed fighters were being collected at a medical clinic in the Qasr Ahmed neighborhood, a grieving rebel commander, Abdullah Mohammed, provided an account of the errant strikes.

Angered by the decision of the Ambassador, the group assaulted him with a knife before fleeing.
The same sources added that the ambassador, who had injuries and bruises, filed a complaint with the Algerian authorities and requested an investigation. Meanwhile, ...back at the Senate, Odius Sepulcher called for war against the Visigoths... the Paleostinian Embassy services in Algiers called on Paleostinian authorities to follow the case and punish the perpetrators.
The attackers, the sources said, are elements of the Fatah movement, pro-Dahlan faction, who decamped the Ghaza Strip after the takeover by Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,.

[Al Jazeera] Habib al-Adly, Egypt's ex-interior minister, has gone on trial in Cairo for the second time.
He is accused of having ordered the shooting of demonstrators during protests that toppled the former regime.
Adly has been charged along with six former aides, the state news agency reported on Tuesday. His case has been adjourned until late May.
He is also being held responsible for insecurity that prevailed after police disappeared from the streets of Cairo in the early days of the protests.
According to an official toll, 846 people were killed and several thousand maimed during 18 days of massive nationwide street protests that forced president Hosni Mubarak ...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011... to quit on February 11.
Adly was also the first member of Mubarak's regime to be put on trial in another case of embezzlement, in which he has pleaded not guilty. "Wudn't me."
The court was placed under high security, with lorry-loads of riot police and army tanks stationed outside the building.
'Trial of the revolution' Al Jizz's Rawya Rageh said from Cairo: "This is the trial of the revolution, the proceedings of which many hope will avenge the families of those who bit the dust or were maimed during the 18-day revolt.
"The way people look at this trial is not just in terms of the fact that it carries the most serious charges into the event of the revolution, the charges of killing the protesters, which carry the death penalty.
"But also in terms of the symbolism really, this not just being seen as a trial of individuals, but also a trial of the institution, the institution of violence as it is being described here."
Around 50 people, including family members of slain protesters, staged a demonstration outside the court, shouting, "Death penalty for Adly!".
"After all, it was police brutality and their excessive use of force, that was one of the main reasons that sparked this revolution and gave momentum... to the protests during the uprising after the violence perpetrated by security forces against the protesters," our correspondent said.
The removal of Adly from office was one of the chief demands of protesters when they launched the revolution against Mubarak's regime on January 25.
Adly, along with a German businessman and Yussef Boutros-Ghali, former finance minister, is also accused of illegally profiteering from a deal to import new vehicle number plates which they allegedly bought directly without a public tender as required by law.

In another development, Italia said it would join the British and French in carrying out bombing attacks on Libya.
Geographically the closest major NATO member state to Libya, Italia had until Monday only provided bases and reconnaissance and monitoring aircraft.
The surprise decision immediately opened a fissure in Italia's coalition government.
However, The emphatic However... rebel-led the National Transitional Council [NTC] welcomed the decision.
Abdul Hafeedh Ghoga, vice chairman of the NTC, stated: "The people of Libya welcome the government of Italia's decision to take part in strategic bombing raids against the Qadaffy regime. The Qadaffy regime has demonstrated time and again that it cannot be trusted. Its continued shelling of Misrata, despite claims of a withdrawal, makes that very clear. Italia's help during Libya's time of need is greatly appreciated."
The African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
meanwhile, held separate talks on Monday with Abdelati Obeidi, the Libyan foreign minister, and rebel representatives in Addis Ababa to discuss a ceasefire plan.
The rebels had earlier rebuffed an AU plan because it did not entail Qadaffy's departure, while the United States, Perfidious Albion and La Belle France say there can be no political solution until the Libyan leader leaves power.

[Al Jazeera] People in Misrata emerged from homes after daybreak on Monday to scenes of devastation after Qadaffy's forces pulled back from the city under cover of blistering rocket and tank fire, said witnesses contacted by phone.
Nearly 60 people had been killed in festivities in the city in the last three days, residents told Rooters by phone.
Although rebels' celebrations of "victory" on Saturday turned out to be very premature, it was clear they had inflicted significant losses on government forces in Misrata.
"Bodies of Qadaffy's troops are everywhere in the streets and in the buildings. We can't tell how many. Some have been there for days," Ibrahim, a rebel fighter, said.
Rebel front man Abdelsalam, speaking late on Monday, said Qadaffy's forces were trying to re-enter the Nakl Thaqeel Road, which leads to Misrata's port, its lifeline to the outside.
"Battles continue there. We can hear kabooms," he said by phone. He said Qadaffy's forces positioned on the western outskirts of the city had also shelled the road from there.
Another rebel front man, Sami, said the humanitarian situation was worsening rapidly.
"It is indescribable. The hospital is very small. It is full of maimed people, most of them are at death's door," he told Rooters by phone.
US officials said relief groups were rotating doctors into Misrata and evacuating migrant workers.
Mark Bartolini, director of foreign disaster assistance at the US Agency for International Development, said aid organisations were aiming to create stocks of food in the region in case Libyan supply chains break down.

The rebels actually managed to out-fight (or at least kill some of) Ghadaffi's mercs on the ground? How the hell did that happen? Unless all the mercs are on the road to Sirte and they were sending actual Libyans into Misrata to get chewed up in street fighting.

"A battle raged all day [on Monday]. There are deaths on both sides but Qadaffy's forces retreated," our correspondent said from the remote region that is largely inaccessible to journalists.
"Our town is under constant bombardment by Qadaffy's troops. They are using all means. Everyone is fleeing," Imad, a refugee, said while bringing his family out of the mountains and into Tunisia.
Three rebel fighters were killed in the bombardment of Nalut, a town close to the borders with Tunisia.
Unconfirmed reports said Qadaffy troops were amassed near the town in preparation of an attack.
Misrata also won no respite from two months of bitter siege as Qadaffy's forces bombarded the city after pulling out of the city centre.
NATO, on its part, flattened a building inside Qadaffy's Tripoli compound, in what Libyan officials said was a failed attempt on their leader's life. NATO said its attack on the building in the Qadaffy compound was on a communications headquarters used to co-ordinate attacks on civilians.
A Libyan front man said Qadaffy was unharmed, and state television showed pictures of him meeting people in a tent, which it said had been taken on Monday.
Qadaffy's son Saif al-Islam said the Libyan government would not be cowed.
"The bombing which targeted Muammar Qadaffy's office today ... will only scare children. It's impossible that it will make us afraid or give up or raise the white flag," he was quoted as saying by the state news agency, Jana.
Libyan television, without giving details, said late on Monday that the "crusader aggressors" bombed civilian and military sites in Bir al Ghanam, 100km south of Tripoli, and the Ayn Zara area of the capital, causing casualties.
A Rooters correspondent heard kabooms in Tripoli.
Libyan television said foreign ships had also attacked and severed the al-Alyaf cable off Libya's coast, cutting communications to the towns of Sirte, Ras Lanuf and Brega.

[Arab News] The United Arab Emirates jugged five activists, who all signed a pro-democracy petition last month, on accusations of "opposing the government," the Emirati state news agency said Monday.
The activists are being questioned for "perpetrating acts that pose a threat to state security" and insulting the rulers of Abu Dhabi, including the crown prince, Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is to meet President Barack B.O. Obama Tuesday.
Political activity is severely restricted in the UAE, an alliance of seven semiautonomous states allied to the US, each ruled by a hereditary sheik. There are no official opposition groups and political parties are banned.
The oil-rich federation has not seen the pro-reform unrest spreading elsewhere around the Middle East that toppled the leaders of Tunisia and Egypt earlier this year.
Last month, however, in an unprecedented move for the politically quiescent country, 130 people signed a petition demanding constitutional and parliamentary changes, free elections and a more equitable distribution of the country's oil wealth.
The jugged activists include blogger Ahmed Mansour and economic professor Nasser bin Ghaith, who were both nabbed in Dubai in early April. It was not immediately clear when the other three activists mentioned in the WAM report were jugged.

[Iran Press TV] The Bahraini regime is seeking the death penalty against a group of anti-government protesters at a martial court, says an opposition activist.
Seven protesters are accused of killing two security forces during the regime's crackdown on the popular uprising, former politician Matar Matar told AFP on Tuesday.
He added that the trial was being held in camera, and that lawyers were not given enough time to study the case.
The verdict is expected on Thursday and the prosecution has demanded death sentences, Matar noted.
The seven are Ali Abdullah Hassan, Qasim Hassan Mattar, Saeed Abdul Jalil Saeed, Issa Abdullah Kazem, Abdul Aziz Abdullah Ibrahim, Sadiq Ali Mahdi, and Hussein Jaafar Abdul Karim, according to ex-MP.
People in Bahrain have poured to the streets since February 14 to protest against the Al Khalifa dynasty.
In March, Soddy Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait deployed their troops in the country to reinforce the brutal armed clampdown against the mass protests.
Security forces have nabbed hundreds of people. Scores of protesters have also been killed and many others gone missing during the harsh Saudi-backed crackdown in the Persian Gulf state.

[Al Jazeera] Bahrain has ordered the expulsion of a top Iranian diplomat over his alleged links to a Kuwaiti spy ring, ratcheting up already simmering tension between the Gulf neighbours.
Bahrain's state news agency BNA reported on Tuesday that the Gulf Arab state had declared the second secretary in the Iranian embassy persona non grata and ordered him to leave within 72 hours.
It named the official as Hujatullah Rahmani and said Iran's charge d'affaires in Bahrain was summoned on Monday to the foreign ministry to be told about the expulsion order.
Iran said it reserves the right of a "reciprocal reaction" to the expulsion.
"The action taken by the Bahrain foreign ministry aims to divert attention and neglect the realities... these kinds of baseless accusations are contrary to good neighbourly relations... and are in line with the divisive intention of foreigners," Ramin Mehmanparast, a foreign ministry front man, was quoted as saying on the state television's website on Tuesday.
Bahrain's foreign ministry had on Monday affirmed its "rejection of any interference in the internal affairs of Bahrain and other members of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC)" - comprising Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Soddy Arabia and the United Arab Emirates - the BNA report said.
It also urged the Islamic republic to "end its irresponsible actions, which constitute a grave violation of the norms and principles governing international relations and a threat to regional security and stability".

Tensions between the two escalated after several Gulf countries led by Soddy Arabia sent troops to Sunni-ruled Bahrain last month, freeing up the tiny kingdom's security forces to crush a Shia-led pro-democracy protest movement.
Iran, predominantly a Shia nation, said on Friday it gives "moral support" to the demands of Bahrain's people but without any involvement in the protests in its Arab Gulf neighbour.
On April 18, Mahmoud Short Round Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, accused the US of wanting to create tension between Iran and Arabs.
"America and its allies are trying to create an Iranian-Arab tension, they seek to sow discord among Shia and Sunnis... but their plan will fail," he said at Iran's annual Army Day parade.

[Yemen Post] Eight anti Saleh protesters were shot by central security forces in Hodieda province as they were on a march rejecting the GCC proposal according to the medical staff in change square Hodieda.
The attack took place when governmental armored vehicles intercepted the marchers and tried to disperse them according to eyewitnesses.
Protesters clashed with security forces after the attack and injured three. The march was dispersed while protesters vowed to regroup and march again.
"Security forces told us to stop marching or they will shoot us," said Abdullah Kaf, a marcher in Hodieda.

[Iran Press TV] Bahraini forces have jugged 1041 anti-government protesters, including 64 women, since the beginning of the revolution, Bahrain Human Rights Center says.
On Tuesday, people in the city of A'ali rallied in support of the detainees.
As part of a crackdown on opposition protests, Saudi-backed Bahraini forces have raided hospitals and schools destroying dozens of mosques and holy sites.
Also on Tuesday, a woman was injured in the northwestern village of Bani Jamrah. She was among a group of women protesters, who were trying to prevent the destruction of a religious site.
Elsewhere, Saudi-backed Bahraini forces kidnapped two female students in Bilad al-Qadim, and four female medics in Isa Town.
At a parliamentary session on Tuesday, a group of politicians thanked Soddy Arabia for its invasion of Bahrain and supporting it in quelling opposition protests.
Soddy Arabia, which dispatched 1,500 troops to Bahrain, has already come under fire for its brutal crackdown on Bahraini opposition protesters.

Yesterday evening, Yemen's opposition coalition accepted the latest political deal brokered by Arab diplomats to remove President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh from power in exchange for immunity for himself and his relatives, clearing the way for the country's first political transition in its modern history.
The proposed deal has the backing of the United States and Yemen's Arab neighbors including Soddy Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Diplomats from these nations lobbied both sides over the weekend to accept the deal, amid increasing worries that Al Qaeda has taken refuge in Yemen and will capitalize on the country's political crisis to launch new terrorist attacks.
Under the deal, the president is obligated to hand over power to his vice president 30 days after the plan is formally signed by the leader and the umbrella group of opposition parties.
On Saturday, the ruling party announced that President Ali Abdullah Saleh accepted to hand over power within a month.

The Bangladeshi head of a banned jihadi group has been arrested at a hideout north of the capital Dhaka. Maolana Sheikh Farid, who fought with the Taliban in Afghanistan, is accused of masterminding a string of grenade attacks in 2004 that killed dozens of people, the head of the Rapid Action Battalion said.
Mukhlesur Rahman said that Farid, who was nabbed Tuesday night, had been leading the Harkat-ul Jihad al Islami (HuJI) for several years.
Rahman said, "He is wanted for several high-profile blasts."
Farid took the leadership position in the banned group after its original leader Mufti Abdul Hannan was arrested in 2007 in connection with a grenade attack targeting a political rally of the current premier Sheikh Hasina in 2004. Hannan was convicted and sentenced to death in 2008 for a separate attack on the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh.
Farid is also accused of taking part in the attack on Hasina that left at least 20 dead. Hasina, who was the leader of the opposition at the time, was wounded by the blast.
RAB chief Rahman said Hannan and Farid had also plotted the grenade attack on a Bengali New Year's concert in a Dhaka park in April 2001 that killed nine and injured more than 100 people.
Two other HuJI thugs operatives, including another veteran of the Afghanistan wars, were also arrested earlier this week.

The death toll in a mass grave in Durango, the capital of Durango continues to rise after 17 more bodies were found Monday, and 21 more were found Tuesday evening bringing the total to 96, according to Mexican press accounts.
Late reports from Milenio suggests a third site has been found containing as many as 40 more bodies. The site is said to be somewhere between the city limits of Durango and El Salto in the Pueblo Nuevo municipality.
Exhumations which were resumed Monday had been suspended due to the Easter holiday. A total of 58 individuals had been found to that time.
Other reports just prior to the Easter weekend suspension said that the Durango attorney general's office had rented a tractor trailer refrigerator unit with a capacity for 300 bodies, presumably because the Durango state facilities were so overwhelmed by the large number of dead and forensic work ahead of them.
The original discovery took place on April 11th when Mexican Federal agents, acting on a anonymous phoned in tip, found four corpses in the Providencia colony of Durango city.
The latest discovery took place in the La Fuentes colony near a radiator shop.
Authorities expect the exhumations to continue.
Mexican press reports are reporting unnamed sources that speculate the victims were kidnapping victims who failed to meet their captors' requirements and were murdered,

Six more dead were found in San Fernando, Tamauliuaps Tuesday bringing the total found to 183, according to Mexican press accounts.
So far Mexican security forces have detained 74 individuals including 17 San Fernando municipal police officers in connection to the killings.
Five individuals were murdered in ongoing drug and gang violence in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, including a wheelchair bound man shot to death at an Oxxo convenience store in Juarez.
An unidentified man was found shot Sunday morning in Juarez. The victim was lying on Camino Real near Rosa de los Vientos shot six times.
The decapitated body of an unidentified man was found in Namiquipa municipality in Chihuahua Monday. The victim had been shot to death 30 to 45 days before he was found. He was found floating in water near the Tinero dam.
A woman was kidnapped by men dressed as Policia Federal officers Monday. Mejia Yadira Garrido, 25, was at her home in the village of Tres Jacales in the Valle Juarz municipality when masked men dragged her away after looting the place. The family of the victim was threatened if they reported the crime. Commander of Policia Federal troops in Ciudad Juarez in a news conference the next day, Raul Avila Ibarra later denied knowledge of the abduction, adding Policia Federal troops do not include Valle Juarez as their area of operation.
The home of an imprisoned drug capo was torched Monday. Rodolfo Fierro and Carlos Gurrola of CDP, commander of the Juarez cartel in the Valle Juarez municipality was serving time in prison when the home near the intersection of calles Rodolfo Fierro and Carlos Gurrola in the CDP colony was burned to the ground.
An unidentified man was shot tod eath in Juarez Monday morning. The victim had just stepped into his Ford Windstar van near the intersection of calles Fervor Patrio and Sierra Candelaria in the Infonavit Jarudo colony when armed suspects fired on him.
A wheelchair bound man was shot to death and an 11 year old girl was wounded in a convenience store in Juarez Monday. Armed suspects entered the Oxxo store near the intersection of calles Paseo de los Gorriones and Paseo Alba in the Paseo Alba colony and shot the victim. The girl was wounded by bullet fragments. Reports say AR-15 assault rifles were used in the attack.
The raid on a building in the northeastern town of Reynosa near the U.S. border -- where rival narco mobs battle it out for lucrative trade routes to the north -- uncovered 14 Guatemalans, two Hondurans and two Salvadorans.
The other 27 detainees were Mexicans, the ministry said in a statement.
The statement did not mention any arrests during the operation.
Earlier this month police freed 68 kidnapped individuals, including 12 Central American migrants, in Reynosa. For more information on the earlier rescue click here (last item).
Four coppers were jugged on Monday in connection with the earlier release. Those who were rescued said they had been kidnapped when gunnies from the Gulf narco mob hijacked the buses they were traveling on.
Reynosa is around 160 kilometers away from the town of San Fernando, where police have unearthed 177 bodies buried in unmarked graves.
Officials said the total probably includes 122 passengers from a bus that was commandeered near San Fernando, and have blamed the killings on the Zetas narco mob, now in a bloody dispute with the Gulf, its former ally.
San Fernando was the same municipality where the Zetas last year kidnapped and slaughtered 73 immigrants from Central and South America on their way north to try to illegally cross into the United States.
Mexico has been convulsed by drug violence since the government launched a major military assault on the cartels in 2006, with some 34,600 people killed in shootouts among rival cartels and security forces.

The four who were charged on Monday, had been previously mentioned, but not named, in indictments charging American David Headley and Tahawwur Rana, Pak-born Chicago businessman, with helping to identify targets in India's commercial capital.
Headley and Rana have also been charged in a plot to attack a Danish newspaper that was never carried out.
Headley pleaded guilty in March 2010 and is cooperating with US Sherlocks about making several trips to India, and later to Denmark, to scout targets for the coordinated and deadly attack.
Rana has been held since his arrest in 2009 as a conspirator with Headley, and his US trial is scheduled to begin on May 16. His attorney was not immediately available for comment. "I can say no more!" New indictments
All of the four newly-indicted figures are linked to the Pakistain-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, the gang that is blamed for the attack on Mumbai.
They were charged with six counts of aiding and abetting the murder of US citizens.

Mir was also charged in the plot against Denmark's Jyllands-Posten newspaper after it published cartoons of Prophet Muhammad that enraged many Mohammedans and prompted protests.
Patrick Fitzgerald, US attorney in Chicago, had requested the superseding indictment handed up by a grand jury on April 21 charging the four to be sealed to give the government time to alert US agencies and consult foreign authorities.
The Mumbai attack strained already tense India-Pakistain relations.
India has said it is not satisfied with the pace of Pakistain's investigation, and has demanded more people be put on trial for the attack, including Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Two bombs have went kaboom! near buses carrying navy officials in Pakistain's southern city of Bloody Karachi, killing four people and wounding 56.
Tuesday's attacks came hours after another bus was set on fire in southwestern Baluchistan province late on Monday, burning 15 people to death, including four children and two women.
Police said the bombs targeting the buses in two different parts of Bloody Karachi were remote controlled.
A junior naval officer and a civilian female doctor were among those killed in the twin blasts, Pakistain Navy front man Commander Salman Ali said. Nobody has grabbed credit for the attacks yet.
Analysts said that the attacks may be part of a wider campaign to hit security forces across the country.
"It appears to be part of the same Death Eater campaign but I don't see any logic in targeting the navy because unlike army and air force they are not involved in any operations against the Death Eaters," said Tasneem Noorani, a security analyst and former interior secretary.
"They may have targeted navy out of desperation because the other forces (air force and army) may have become very careful and are difficult to attack."
A senior government official said the attack in Baluchistan took place in Sibi town, about 160 km east of the scenic provincial capital Quetta, when the bus was parked at a roadside restaurant.
Ethnic Baluch fighters have waged a low-level insurgency for decades for more autonomy and greater control of natural resources of their region. They frequently attack government installations and security forces.
The attack on the military in Bloody Karachi was the first since 2004 when gunnies ambushed a convoy escorting the Bloody Karachi army corps commander. The general beat feet that attack.
In 2002, 11 French engineers and technicians working on the construction of submarines for the Pak navy were killed, along with three Paks in a suicide car booming outside a hotel in Bloody Karachi.
Bloody Karachi is Pakistain's biggest city and commercial hub. It is also the main base for the navy.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik assured the National Assembly on Monday that law-enforcement personnel would be deployed within two days to secure the Thall-Parachinar road in Kurram Agency ...home of an intricately interconnected web of poverty, ignorance, and religious fanaticism, where the laws of cause and effect are assumed to be suspended... and help the besieged people of the area.
He was responding to a point of order by MNA Sajid Hussain Turi from the affected area who subsequently walked out in protest against what he termed the government`s indifference to the misery of the people of Parachinar who could not travel on the road because of insecurity. Mr Turi announced that he would join a hunger-strike camp set up several days ago by the affected people from his area in front of the press club here.
The protesters have been moving towards the Parliament House during the assembly session, but Monday`s protest was the noisiest when they used loudspeakers to draw the attention of passing politicians to their problems.
Despite repeated requests, the government had failed to provide adequate security in the area, Mr Turi said.
"Therefore, I am walking out of the house and joining the hunger strike of people from the area. I will remain there till the government takes concrete measures to address their concerns."
No other member joined him in the protest, although Dr Abdul Qadir Khanzada of the MQM spoke on the closure of the road.
The interior minister said the Sunni and Shia communities of the area had reached an agreement in the past but had not honoured their commitments.He said he would send a senior officer of his ministry to Beautiful Downtown Peshawar on Tuesday to assess the situation and promised to send security personnel to the area within 48 hours. The minister said because of the complex situation it was impossible to ensure complete peace there without the support of local people.
The road has remained closed since March 25 because of incidents of killing and kidnapping in violation of a truce reached in early February at a jirga presided over by Mr Malik and attended by a large number of elders from all tribal agencies, including Mr Turi, Fata parliamentary leader Munir Orakzai and Sports Minister Shaukatullah, and Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi.
According to some reports, Taliban were part of the deal. As a result of the accord, the Thall-Parachinar and all other roads in Kurram Agency were opened on Feb 5 after four years.

A suspect belonging to a previously unknown thug outfit has been incarcerated for his alleged involvement in the April 21 rummy club bombing in which 22 people were killed and scores of others maimed, police claimed on Monday.
Following the arrest, Sindh Inspector General Fayyaz Leghari wasted no time in holding a presser at the beginning of which he told the media that the "CID as usual played its role in arresting suspects".
He said that Mustafa Rehman Orakzai was incarcerated by a team of the crime investigation department (CID) of police in a raid at his hideout near the Nadiria hospital, off Superhighway. The police also seized 20 kilos of explosives, a rocket, two hand grenades and a TT pistol from the suspect.
The IG said the suspect belonged to "Al Mukhtar group" which had contacts in Wazoo, tribal area.
Asked about the affiliation of the previously little known group, Mr Leghari said: "We are questioning the suspect and it will be premature to comment on the affiliation of the group at this stage."
He said the investigation done so far showed that Omar Baloch was the ring leader of Al Mukhtar. "Unless Omar Baloch is incarcerated, we will not be able to establish the affiliation of the group," he added.
Extortion demand
Apprising the media about the motive of the attackers, Mr Leghari said Omar Baloch had demanded Rs2 million from the club owner some time ago. But the club owner rejected the extortion demand, he added.
Giving a description of the attackers, the police chief said that a day before carrying out the blast Abid Dawood and Rehman went to the club and played there for some time, mainly to assess the level of security at the club.
The police chief said the following day, they carried a bomb in a plastic bag with them to the club and placed it under the table where they played.
He said they left the place and after reaching Ranchhore Line they made a call to a cellphone that was attached to the explosives as a detonator.
About the police role in checking gambling activities in the area, he said the police had registered as many as 21 FIRs against the rummy club over the years.

An office of the Pakistain Mohammedan League-N in the city and a popular restaurant owned by a central leader of the party were ransacked by people carrying flags of a nationalist party of Sindh on Monday.
The attacks came a day after a statement by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, reportedly calling for separating Bloody Karachi from Sindh and making it a province.
A duty officer of Bahadurabad cop shoppe said dozens of people attacked the PML-N office in the KDA Scheme No.1 and ransacked the premises, breaking windowpanes and furniture.
The attack started at around 2pm and continued for about three hours and, according to sources, police stayed away from the scene.

A similar attack took place at the Bilawal Chowrangi on the (Bar-B-Q Tonight) restaurant owned by PML-N leader Sardar Rahim.
The assailants who arrived on pick-ups and carried flags of the nationalist party ransacked the ground floor of the building.
They also had gun sex, police said.
A heavy contingent of police arrived at the place and jugged some people.
Clifton SP Tariq Dharejo said four men involved in ransacking the premises had been jugged. "Two FIRs have been registered against the suspects at the Boat Basin cop shoppe -- one on the complaint of the owners of the restaurant and the other on behalf of the state," he said.

At least seven coppers were maimed, two of them seriously, in a series of mysterious blasts inside Gulbahar cop shoppe on the main G.T. Road here on Monday, police said.
They said that the kabooms also destroyed two rooms on the first floor and smashed windowpanes of the entire building.
Capital City Police Officer Liaquat Ali later told media persons that according to preliminary investigation the kabooms were caused by gas accumulated in a gutter or electricity short circuiting. However, The wishy-washy However... he dispelled the impression that it was a sabotage act.
He claimed that the affected rooms were sealed at the time of kabooms. One of the rooms was being used as a store for electrical gadgets, he said, but did not give details of the gadgets or the extent of damage.
However, The wishy-washy However... another high-ranking police official, pleading anonymity, said that the costly detectors, bomb disposal suits, bomb locators, X-ray machine and other such sensitive items were given for the bomb disposal unit by donor agencies and stored in the room. He claimed that all the bomb disposal suits, valued at Rs4 million a piece, were gutted. The official said that the incident might have happened due to negligence.
An eyewitness, SSP Tauseef Haider, told Dawn that he was sitting in his office on the second floor in the adjacent building of the cop shoppe that he heard a huge kaboom followed by five other blasts at about 4:30pm. "The fist blast was severe," he
said.
SP Shaukat Raza also gave similar comments, saying that he heard about five blasts, but did not know as to what exactly had happened inside the cop shoppe.
A source in the Lady Reading Hospital identified the injured police officials as Jahangir Khan, Mohammad Israil, Nisar Khan, Arif Khan, Feroz Shah, Mohammad Ayaz and Alamzeb Khan.
A front man of rescue 1122 services said that the firefighters extinguished the fire within 30 minutes. It was confirmed that no case of the incident was registered by the cop shoppe concerned till late in the night.
The blasts also caused severe traffic jam on both sides of the G.T. Road, as one lane of the road was closed for traffic for over one hour.

WASSIT / Aswat al-Iraq: Two wanted men were arrested on Tuesday by police forces in northern Wassit, according to Wassit police chief.
Policemen this evening arrested two al-Qaeda wanted men during a raid in al-Suweira district, north of Kut, for implementing armed attacks against civilians and security forces, General Hussein Abdulhadi told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Kut, the capital of Wassit, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad.

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: Three blasts jolted the city of Kirkuk late Tuesday leaving 20 casualties, according to chief of the Kirkuk District Police Department.
Three bombs went off consecutively in Arafa region, western Kirkuk, killing one person and injuring 19, including five Asayesh elements and four policemen, Brig.
Sarhad Qader told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
A police vehicle patrol and a container were damaged in the explosions, he added.

[Ma'an] Paleostinian national security forces fired toward Israeli military vehicles in the northern West Bank on Tuesday, Paleostinian security sources said.
There were no reports of injury in the incident, which came as military jeeps pulled up near the Paleostinian security building at the northern entrance of Tulkarem, the sources said.
The governor of Tulkarem, Dalal Dweikat, denied any fire toward Israeli forces saying only that a Paleostinian security officer misfired a single bullet in the same area as an Israeli patrol passed. "Things are calm and there are no developments," he said.
An Israeli military spokeswoman said the army had no immediate comment.
On Sunday, an Israeli settler was rubbed out and four others were maimed early after a group of Jewish worshippers snuck into Nablus without coordinating with Paleostinian or Israeli security.

In 2008, the Indonesian government issued a joint ministerial decree that bans the Ahmadiyah from practising their faith in public or spreading the belief.

The draft statement supports Secretary-General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon's call for an independent and transparent investigation into the killings in Syria, where more than 300 people have died in five weeks of unrest, the diplomat said.
It would also take note of the Syrian government's lifting of emergency laws and remind Syrian authorities of their obligation to respect human rights. ...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
The White House has escalated US condemnation of the increasingly violent crackdown against anti-government protesters in which more than 300 people have been killed.
An official familiar with the process said interagency discussions about the severity and scope of possible sanctions are under way but they probably would involve asset freezes and travel bans against Assad, the Syrian president, members of his family and senior regime officials. Syria already is subject to numerous penalties as it is deemed a "state sponsor of terrorism" by the State Department. The sanctions now being considered would target specific individuals accused of ordering or committing human rights abuses, the official said.
Similar sanctions were crafted for Libyan leader Muammar Qadaffy ... a proud Arab institution for 42 years ... , his family and top aides. But the model for the Syria sanctions probably would be the penalties the administration put in place against senior Iranian officials for human rights abuses in the aftermath of disputed elections, the official said. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal administration deliberations.
The official said sanctions would be announced sometime soon, but the official was not specific about the timing.

[Jerusalem Post Front Page] Syrian protesters in Banias chanted "the people want the overthrow of the regime" on Tuesday as forces deployed around the small coastal city for a possible attack, a rights campaigner in contact with Banias said.
"Our demands are peaceful. If they kill us, our souls will rise from our graves and demand freedom," Sheikh Anas Airout, a preacher in the city, told 2,000 to 3,000 protesters, according to the rights campaigner.
Syrian security forces have rubbed out at least 400 civilians in their campaign to crush month-long pro-democracy protests, Syrian human rights ...which often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless... organization Sawasiah said on Tuesday.
The group, founded by placed in durance vile human rights lawyer Mohannad al-Hassani, said the UN Security Council must convene to start proceedings against Syrian officials in the International Criminal Court ... where Milosevich died of old age before being convicted ... and "reign in the security apparatus."
"This savage behavior, which is aimed at keeping the ruling clique in power at the expense of a rising number of civilian lives, calls for immediate international action beyond condemnations," Sawasiah said in a statement sent to Rooters.

Sawasiah's board includes Syrian philosophy professor Sadeq Jalal al-Azem, whose book Self-criticism After the Defeat helped set the stage for a revival in Arab political thought after Israel's victory in the 1967 Middle East War.
Separately, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said security police tossed in the calaboose rights campaigner Qassem al-Ghazzawi on Tuesday in his home city of Deir al-Zor in Syria's impoverished east after protests intensified in the region last week.
The Observatory also said Mahmoud Issa, a campaigner and former political prisoner tossed in the calaboose last week in the city of Homs, was referred to a military court on Tuesday on charges of "possessing a Thuraya satellite phone and an advanced computer."

[Al Jazeera] In the coastal town of Jableh, where several protesters were bumped off on Sunday, witnesses said security forces in camouflage uniforms - some with their faces covered - and masked gunnies dressed in black were roaming the town's streets.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Syrian rights group, said on Monday that at least 13 people had been killed in Jableh since Sunday's crackdown began.
The country has banned nearly all foreign media and restricted access to trouble spots since the uprising began, making it nearly impossible to get independent assessments.
Syria has also closed all border crossings on its southern frontier with Jordan as the crackdown intensifies, a security official told Al Jizz.
Syrian intellectuals have expressed their outrage over the violence, with a declaration on Monday signed by 102 writers and exiles from all the country's main sects.
"We condemn the violent, oppressive practices of the Syrian regime against the protesters and mourn the deaders of the uprising," they said.
President Assad is also coming under increased foreign pressure to stop the deadly crackdown.
La Belle France, Perfidious Albion, Germany and Portugal have all urged the UN Security Council to condemn the government's violent action against demonstrators, and the United States is considering imposing new sanctions. Yeah, you know what they always say: condemn in one hand and poop in the other, and see which fills first.

[Al Jazeera] Gunfire continued to reverberate across the city of Deraa on Tuesday, residents said, a day after thousands of soldiers swept into the city, with tanks taking up positions in the town centre and snipers deploying on rooftops, witnesses said.
"We've been listening to live ammunition. Some snipers are working as well, but we don't know from where," a resident of Deraa told Al Jizz on Tuesday.
"The snipers are on all the roofs. I'm now on my stomach, on the ground - I am really in a panicked situation. The city is quite in danger."
Witnesses said soldiers began opening fire on civilians indiscriminately after arriving in Deraa, sparking panic in the streets.
However, The well-oiled However... the government insists the army was invited in to rid the town of gunnies.
Al Jizz's Rula Amin, reporting from Damascus, said the government has reiterated that it is there to protect residents. ... by turning the town to rubble...
A Deraa resident describes to Al Jizz a desperate situation on the ground in the restive southern city. "What we are hearing from activists in Damascus is fear and concern that what the government is trying to do is crush the protests to create fear among people to stay at home.
"Then [the government will] come up with its own plan of reforms, but people won't be able to stand up and defy these reforms. That is how the government wants to move forward."
She said the troop deployment was an "unprecedented" offensive against the wave of dissent that has swept the country since the uprising began on March 15.
Up until now, she said, security forces had cracked down in reaction to protests. But the flood of troops into Douma and Deraa came in the absence of any demonstrations.
"We're seeing a different tactic, with security forces sweeping the towns," she said, noting reports of house-to-house searches, arrests and random shooting coming from both towns.
Also for the first time, the military has become directly involved in quelling the uprising, much to the disappointment of opposition activists.
"They were hoping the army would not get involved," our correspondent said. "They feel this is only the beginning of a very serious crackdown."
However, The well-oiled However... one activist told Al Jizz that some army officers have defected to fight alongside the people of Deraa against the government.
Two members stepped down from the provincial council in Deraa. The resignations came a day after two politicians and a religious leader from Deraa broke with the government in disgust over the killings.

[Al Jazeera] Syrian security forces have tossed in the calaboose at least 500 freedom fighters, a rights group said, as the government continues a violent crackdown on anti-government protests across the country.
The arrests followed the deployment of Syrian troops backed by tanks and heavy armour on the streets of two southern towns, the Syrian rights organisation Sawasiah said on Tuesday.
The group said it had received reports that at least 20 people were killed in the city of Deraa in the aftermath of the raid by troops loyal to Syrian president Bashir al-Assad on Monday. But communications have been cut in the city, making it difficult to confirm the information.
"Witnesses managed to tell us that at least 20 civilians have been killed in Deraa, but we do not have their names and we cannot verify," a Sawasiah official told the Rooters news agency.
The group said that two more civilians were confirmed dead after government forces entered Douma, a suburb of the capital, Damascus. ...The City of Jasmin is the oldest continuously-inhabited city in the world.
