Suspcted members of motorcycle gang, Army captain and 1st sergeant, jugged for attempted murder
Two soldiers from Fort Irwin suspected to be members of the Vagos motorcycle gang were arrested Monday night after allegedly stabbing a Barstow resident during a bar fight.

According to a Barstow Police department report, officers received a call Monday around 10:54 p.m. about a fight at Mollie’s Pub on the 1300 block of East Main Street. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered that a 49-year-old Barstow man had been stabbed twice during the fight.

Officers discovered during their interviews with witnesses that the two suspects left the scene on motorcycles and were thought to be members of the Vagos motorcycle gang.

Witnesses also said they thought the two men were military personnel who may have been headed to Fort Irwin, according to police.

Barstow Police officers then arrested the two men — Army Capt. David Moore, 35, and Army 1st Sgt. Richard Rivero, 39 — on suspicion of attempted homicide. Officers also discovered evidence on Moore that confirmed his involvement with the Vagos motorcycle gang, according to police.

#1  Vagos MC are surreal. Some highlights:

Formerly known as "The Psychos MC".

600 members among 24 chapters located in the states of Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and ten chapters located in Mexico.

In 2002, members of the Vagos turned in the estranged wife of a Pomona, California police detective after she attempted to hire a hit man from the Vagos to kill her husband.

Four members of the Vagos were convicted in 1974 for the murder and mutilation of University of New Mexico student William Velten. The four spent 17 months on death row. Their case was in the appeals process when an informant for the Drug Enforcement Administration confessed to the murder.

...allegations that Vagos members have been attempting to use home-made booby traps to maim and kill police detectives...

...unmarked headquarters of the Hemet Gang Task Force was filled up by natural gas which had been rerouted into the building through a hole drilled in the roof. Two task force members entering the office smelled gas and backed away before flipping the light switch and possibly causing the building to explode...

...were notorious for trying to "infiltrate" public safety agencies, either by getting sworn or non-sworn positions, working undercover to obstruct and dismantle police investigations.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Man who came back to life is dead
[Straits Times] A 65-YEAR-OLD man, believed to be Malaysia's first person with the rare Lazarus phenomenon, died on Tuesday.
"I'll tell you what's wrong with 'im, my lad. 'E's dead, that's what's wrong with 'im!"
On April 14, this man had stopped breathing and doctors pronounced him dead.
He's dead, Jim!
But, miraculously, he began breathing again after two-and-a-half hours.
"No no he's not dead, he's, he's restin'!"
However,
The over-used However...
on Tuesday Ng Ba Kia alias Ng Swee Hock breathed his last at his home in Kampung Tok Elong here at about 10.50am.
(Takes corpse out of the hospital bed and thumps its head on the counter. Throws it up in the air and watches it plummet to the floor.)
A Seberang Jaya Hospital ambulance had earlier taken Ng back home, where his wife and relatives received him.
"Now that's what I call a dead guy!"
"No, no.....No, 'e's stunned!"
"STUNNED?!?"

He was rushed to the hospital on April 14 after he stopped breathing at his home.
"Well, he's...he's, ah...probably pining for the fjords."
Doctors then performed cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him for 45 minutes but there was no response and he was pronounced dead.
He's dead, Jim!

He started breathing again on his own.
"'E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This man is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the bed 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the bench! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-PERSON!!"
"Whut? Whut? Did somebody say somethin'?"
"Shuddup, you! An' lay back down! You ain't foolin' us none!"

Afghanistan
Kabul Bank Shareholders Assets to be Seized
[Tolo News] Assets and properties of Kabul Bank shareholders will be seized within and outside the country, a top official in Ministry of Finance said on Tuesday.

Najibullah Manalay, advisor to finance ministry, said all countries with investments by Kabul Bank shareholders have been urged to block their assets.

Officials said they will make their all-out efforts to recover Kabul Bank money and they will even sell assets and properties belonging to shareholders.

Shareholders should pay their loans in a months time and if they fail we will sell their assets and properties, finance officials said.

But properties of those with legal papers in their deals with the bank will be protected, officials said.

Afghan Ministry of Finance also accuses international audit companies of being involved in Kabul Bank corruption.

"A number of international auditors were assigned to monitor some projects. Three months before the Kabul Bank crisis the auditors had reported to the central bank that things were normal in the bank," Mr Manalay said.

Finance ministry has announced that Kabul Bank will stand back on its own feet after recovering its loans in three months. And then it will be sold to the private sector based on a transparent bidding procedure.

Kabul Bank, the country's leading private bank, nearly collapsed last year but was taken over by Afghanistan Central Bank in September.

Feuding Ivory Coast warlords threaten peace
Volleys of gunshots erupted again in Abidjan Monday as a years-old feud between rival warlords came to a head, threatening Ivory Coast's fragile peace.

It is unclear if technocrat President Alassane Ouattara can control any
Not any? France may come to regret backing the gentleman if he can't deliver the chocolate.
of the six warlords who helped install him in power by ousting the incarcerated former strongman Laurent Gbagbo.
... Former President-for-Life of Ivory Coast from 2000 to 2011. Laurent lost to Alassane Ouattara in 2010 but his representtive tore up the results on the teevee and he refused to vacate the presidential palace. French troops assisted the Oattara forces in extricating him from his Fuhrerbunker...

The latest fighting is between the two men who fomented the 2002 rebellion that divided the country between the rebel-held north and government run-south -- two-time coup plotter Ibrahim "IB" Coulibaly and Defense Minister Guillaume Soro, who also is prime minister.

Coulibaly's aides Monday accused Soro's camp of attacking their forces and plotting to assassinate their leader, in an ambush on the road to a supposed meeting with Ouattara.

In 2004, the two men waged bloody battles for leadership in the rebels' stronghold in the central city of Bouake.

Soro won and Coulibaly was forced into exile. Now there are fears their feud could destabilize Abidjan, the commercial capital and the West African nation's biggest city where one-third of the 15 million people live, just as Ouattara has appealed for banks to reopen and everyone to return to work on Tuesday.

Ouattara on Friday declared the war for Abidjan ended with Gbagbo's arrest on April 11. He ordered Soro's combatants, who are to form the corps of a new army with former Gbagbo troops, to return to their barracks in the center and west of the country. And he ordered Coulibaly to disarm or expect to have his weapons taken by force.

Coulibaly's chief aide and front man, Felix Anoble, let loose a verbal tirade in an interview with The News Agency that Dare Not be Named, after he said an attack was launched on Monday against Coulibaly's forces. He also called for Ouattara to get rid of Soro.

"Nobody trusts Soro, and the president needs to understand that. Soro is a belligerent in the conflict ...

He cannot become a victor if Ibrahim Coulibaly is left out in the cold," he said, adding that it was time for Ouattara to "create a proper government that does not include belligerents." Soro could not be reached for comment though the AP has been requesting an interview with him daily for more than a week.

Ouattara himself may be in a quandary. Initially, he distanced himself from the rebels who were fighting in his name but also are accused of atrocities. But when his desperate pleas for an international military intervention to force Gbagbo from power went unheeded, he adopted the fighters that he now calls the Republican Forces of the Ivory Coast, or FRCI by the French acronym.

He inherited Soro as premier from the administration of Gbagbo. Soro became Gbagbo's prime minister when a peace agreement with rebels led to a unity government. But Soro denounced and abandoned the beleaguered strongman after Gbagbo's troops fired mortar shells and rockets on the people of Abidjan.

The Nov. 28 elections were supposed to reunite the country, but Gbagbo's stubborn refusal to accept his defeat precipitated the most recent violence in a country in conflict for a decade. It is not known how many thousands have been killed and maimed.

Anoble, Coulibaly's front man, indicated they believe Soro is using his current position to settle old scores and try to obliterate Coulibaly, a rival who has made no secret of his past presidential aspirations.

Soro's defense ministry front man announced on television Sunday night that Coulibaly had failed to turn up for a meeting with Soro. He said Soro was calling for Coulibaly's fighters to desert his ranks and immediately join the new army, or expect to be prosecuted.

Anoble said that an invitation to meet with Ouattara on Monday was a "rendezvous with death" because Soro's forces had massed heavy weapons and were supposedly hidden along the route that Coulibaly would have taken for the meeting.

"We get the impression that it is his very life that they want," Anoble said.

Anoble said also that they waited in vain for UN peacekeepers to escort Coulibaly to the meeting. "But the peacekeepers called to say they had received no authorization, and a colonel said that they feared they could not guarantee IB Coulibaly's security." Anoble said he could not understand why Ouattara would not receive Coulibaly when he has received the generals of the defeated and disgraced army that turned heavy weapons on civilians as well as other enemies like the head of the constitutional court who defied UN-certified election results to declare Gbagbo the winner.

"If Coulibaly had not begun the rebellion in 2002, Alassane Ouattara would not be president today," he asserted.

Coulibaly, 47, has pledged his allegiance to Ouattara in an AP interview, saying he considers as a father the man whose French wife he guarded when he was an army chief sergeant and Ouattara was prime minister from 1990 to 1993.

Asked why he had not obeyed Ouattara's order to surrender his arms, Anoble said "When you are threatened with death, you cannot dispose of the only thing that is protecting you ... How can he disarm?" He said all players in Ivory Coast -- political and military -- are to blame for the bloody and destructive conflict, and called for peace.

"Ivory Coast needs peace. IB Coulibaly is a man of peace. He feels that one more shot fired is one shot too many," Anoble said. "Ivory Coast has suffered too much. Alassane Ouattara has suffered too much. Ibrahim Coulibaly has suffered too much. This fratricide must stop. There is nothing to justify a war between the troops of Soro and the troops of IB Coulibaly." "We should all be making our mea culpas," he said.

Bangladesh
70 hurt in BCL infighting at DU
At least 70 students were maimed, 15 critically, when activists of two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League
... the student wing of the Bangla Awami League ...
(BCL) clashed at Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall of Dhaka University early Tuesday.

Around 30 to 35 gunshots were fired and over 20 cocktails went kaboom! during the hour-long clash, witnesses said.

Sources in Mohsin Hall said the clash began at about 4:45am.

The gunshots were fired a few minutes after the clash ensued, sending panic among the resident students.

Witnesses said the clash broke out when the followers of BCL president of Mohsin Hall, Mohammad Ali, and its general secretary, Mohiuddin, attacked the supporters of hall unit organising secretary, Mohiuddin Mahi, with firearms and lethal weapons following a conflict over attending a hall programme last week.

Over 70 students were maimed during the fight.

The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Dhaka Orthopedic Hospital, DU Medical Centre and other hospitals in the city.

BCL sources said the followers of president and general secretary attacked the supporters of the organising secretary although the matter was settled Monday midnight.

Police rushed to the spot at about 6:00am and brought the situation under control.

Later, they raided the hall and recovered a pistol loaded with two bullets from the scene.

DU Proctor Dr KM Saiful Islam told The Daily Star that they have formed a three-member committee headed by Abu Taleb, house tutor of the hall, to investigate the incident.

The committee has been asked to submit its report in seven working days.

"Stern actions will be taken against the students involved in the clash," Saiful said.

Island cops were fast as lighting
Isle of Weight
Popular Island musician and entertainer, Simon Ledger, ended up in hot water after an alleged shock racism claim was made by two Chinese tourists.

The entertainer will spend the evening in a police cell at Newport Police Station and have to be quizzed by detectives after being arrested for singing the classic Kung Foo Fighting in front the mother and son.

Island Police managed to track down Mr Ledger to the Dragon Pearl Chinese restaurant in Shanklin shortly after his evening of entertaining at the Driftwood Beach Bar in Sandown.

Shocked Ledger, who spoke exclusively to ‘The Gazette’ said: “I don’t even know who the pair are”.

“It is all quite amazing how a evening of performing on the beach can end you up in a cell”.

“The Police phoned me when I was in a Chinese restaurant that night. They arranged to meet me and I was arrested.

#1  You can expect more of this and even around the world. They don't even have to let you know who it was that complained. Chinese tourists, Muslims or anyone that thinks they are persecuted. Anyone who comes in contact with the public is now a target.
Guilty first. I have seen where parents have taken a child into a store and someone complains about a parent. Six months later you may get your child back from social services. I heard of one woman who had many problems with social services. Her kids were bad at times at school. Her solution was if you think you can do a better job you take them.

AyPee surveyed "leading" economists: Only "oil shock" can stop the US economic juggernaut now!
Uh, yeah. Right. And taxes. And spending. And overregulation. And $14T+ of debt. And more people riding in the welfare wagon than pulling it. And not being willing to fight the War on Islamic Nut Jobs Terror. And creeping socialism. And Obamacare. And government incompetance.

But if it by chance we do slip back into a recession it's only because the price of a barrel of oil is going up, and that's entirely out of Obean's control. And has nothing to do with inflation due to Stimulii and Quantative Easing. Just so you ignorant slaves voters know what to think when the time comes.

#1  Just like Obumble had no choice but to squash drilling in the Gulf after that little BP thing. Lately, his EPA delayed drilling on-shore in Alaska, because the nearest town (70 miles away, population 245) would be affected by the extra CO2 from the icebreakers, which the permit overlooked.

Other than that, it's oil shock. Just one more reason to go all green! I can't believe I said that...

Bernanke: Fed Sees Slower Growth, Uptick in Inflation
In his first regular news conference, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the central bank was continuing its stimulus policy because it was projecting slower growth in the economy with only a modest uptick in inflation.
At least in the universe he is living in.
On unemployment, the Fed projected a range of 8.4-8.7 percent for the year, better than the 8.8-9.0 percent range offered in January.
And of course he didn't mention that those figures don't include people who no longer have unemployment.
In an earlier statement, the Fed's policy-setting Federal Open Market Committee left the federal funds rate unchanged and indicated it intends to complete its $600 billion bond buying program in June as scheduled.
Because they just can't get the printing presses to go any faster!
In the face of headwinds from high oil prices, the U.S. central bank said that the economic recovery was proceeding at a "moderate pace" -- dialing back slightly from a statement in March when it said the economy was on "firmer footing."
At least when compared to last year's epic 'Summer of Recovery!'
It again expressed confidence a surge in the cost of oil and other commodities would be transitory and not spark a broader inflation.
Because you can't 'spark' a fire which is already raging.
