Taliban rejects consultative peace Jirga, urges people not to participate in it
[KhaamaPress] The Talibs group has announced that the representatives of the group will not participate in consultative peace Jirga (tribal council) which is scheduled to be organized later this month.

Taliban
...Arabic for students...
front man Zabiullah Mujahid issued a statement earlier today claiming the national unity government is attempting to ensure ’illegitimate’ survival.

The statement further added that similar gatherings have been organized in the past to ensure continuation of ’occupation’ of the country and continue of the ’corrupt regime’.

Mujahid has also added that the Taliban group reject such ’bogus gatherings’ and urges the residents of the country not participate in consultative peace Jirga considering the sensitive situation the country is going through.

The officials are saying that consultative peace Jirga is scheduled for 29th of April in which around 2500 people will participate from all provinces of the country.

The Secretariat Chief of Afghan High Peace Council and Director of consultative peace Jirga Mohammad Umar Daudzai had earlier said that the consultative peace Jirga would be an inclusive gathering in which representatives of all segments of the society would participate.

Fatemiyoun Army: Reintegration into Afghan Society
  • [USIP.ORG] The Fatemiyoun, an Iranian-backed military force that has fought in Syria since 2013, is estimated to number in the tens of thousands and draws its membership primarily from Shia Afghan communities in Iran and Afghanistan.

  • Recruits are mostly in their twenties and thirties who are motivated mainly by economic deprivation and vulnerabilities due to their migrant status and, to a lesser degree, by religious sentiments and a sense of youthful military adventurism.

  • Nearly all Shia political and religious leaders oppose sending Afghan Shias to fight in Syria, though some leaders support the fight against the Islamic State. There is also strong opposition among the families of Fatemiyoun fighters, many of whom seek to dissuade their sons from going to Syria.

  • Religious and political elites expressed concern about the lack of economic opportunities in Afghanistan’s Hazara areas, increasing marginalization of Shias and Hazaras, and the lack of government attention to the security of Hazara and Shia areas. They cite these factors as possible contributors to future mobilization of armed Shia and Hazara local defense groups.

  • Thousands of former Fatemiyoun fighters are returning to Afghanistan, where they are struggling to reintegrate and feed their families, and are living in fear of a possible crackdown against them by Afghan security forces.

LNA warns of terror attack on Libya’s ‘oil crescent’ amid political standoff
[NATION.PK] Ahmed al-Mesmari, an official representative of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
's Libyan National Army, accused Government of National Accord head Fayez al-Sarraj of collaborating with terrorist groups.

Libyan National Army (LNA) front man Ahmed al-Mismari has warned of a possible terrorist attack on the so-called "Oil Crescent" ‐ an oil-rich coastal area spreading from Tobruk to Es Sider in eastern Libya.

"A very large meeting of terrorist and illegal gangs took place in [the northern Libyan city of] Sirte today; we know who they belong to and, they have a plan proposed at the meeting on attacking the ’Oil Crescent’," al-Mismari told news hounds on Tuesday.

Earlier, he'd pointed the finger at Government of National Accord (GNA) head Fayez al-Sarraj for making a deal with terrorists, and claimed that "there are alliances between the government and terrorist organizations".

Al-Mismari argued that al-Sarraj had stopped being a politician the moment he showed support for terrorist groups, and that the GNA's head will eventually reap the fruit of his "blind support for terrorist organizations".

His remarks came after the GNA’s Presidential Council condemned the LNA Arclight airstrikes on Mitiga Airport in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, describing them as "a war crime and a crime against humanity, which is violating all national laws and international agreements and which made sending ill and maimed people to hospitals impossible at this difficult moment".

Last Thursday, the LNA troops of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, a former supporter of Libya’s late former leader Muammar Qadaffy
...a reminder that a single man with an idea can change an entire nation, usually for the worse...
, marched on the capital Tripoli in a bid to wrestle it from alleged "terrorists".

Forces loyal to the Tripoli-based and UN-supported Government of National Accord (GNA) said, in turn, that they were launching a counteroffensive operation, dubbed Volcano of Rage.

The Libyan political standoff has been in place since National Transitional Council forces, supported by NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
, murdered the country's former head Muammar Qadaffy in October 2011.

The country was then divided between the parliament, which was elected in 2014 and is based in the city of Tobruk and supported by the LNA, and the GNA, which was formed as part of a UN initiative and controls the western part of the country, including the capital Tripoli.

The Grand Turk
Turkey to do re-vote in northeastern district
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
’s election body announced they will redo the election in Yusufeli district, Artvin province in the country’s northeast where the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP)’s candidate leads the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) with just three votes, reported Anadolu Agency on Wednesday.

The Ottoman Turkish Supreme Election Council (YSK) made the decision after CHP challenged the result. The do-over vote will be held on June 2.

According to unofficial results from Anadolu, CHP won in seven of Artvin’s nine districts while the AKP took the remaining two with a slim margin.

This is the only re-vote the YSK has agreed to so far, despite calls from multiple parties for new elections to take place in hotly contested areas, including a request from AKP for a new vote in Istanbul. The YSK has conducted many recounts in Istanbul on AKP’s request, but has so far not agreed to authorize a new vote.

President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
’s AKP lost three key cities ‐ Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir ‐ to CHP per unofficial results, while taking some significant provinces ‐ such as Agri and Sirnak ‐ from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in the east.

Races across the country were tight and parties from all sides submitted requests for recounts. The impartiality of the electoral authority was questioned after it approved most recount requests from the ruling parties and few from the opposition.

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) said late on Wednesday that seven of their winning candidates were denied official recognition and accused YSK of becoming a "tool for the AKP that has acted against the will of voters."

The YSK decided not to certify winners who had previously been removed from their posts during the state of emergency, Cumhurriyet newspaper reported. The decision mainly affects HDP candidates. Tens of HDP mayors had been removed in 2016 and replaced with pro-government trustees.

The party questioned why the candidacies of their members were accepted just to have them deemed ineligible after winning the poll.

Responding to accusations his party was putting pressure on the YSK, AKP spokesperson Omer Celik said they too have had requests refused by the election body.

The opposition "said that we have threatened and pressured the YSK, compelling them to do recounts. Now, our complaint has been denied by the YSK," he told journalists in a presser on Wednesday after the YSK rejected AKP complaints from Ankara.

Celik claimed that all their complaints have been "legal" and said they have accepted all of YSK’s decisions because "we respect the people’s will."

While parties jostle for the top positions, HDP in Mus’ Rustemgedik district refused a YSK decision that gave their candidate the mayoralty after the winning CHP’s candidate secured the most votes but was ruled ineligible because of the existence of a criminal record.

"The YSK cannot reject those chosen by the people due to a criminal record. There should be a re-vote here," HDP tweeted.

Earlier in the day, YSK rejected HDP’s request for a re-vote in in Mus province’s Malazgirt district "where the difference is only three votes" between HDP and AKP, the party stated.

Iraq offers to try all ISIS foreigners for a fee: officials
A pity the Syrian Kurds could not take advantage of this very useful source of income. But they really aren’t set up for it, whereas the Iraqis have been trying and hanging ISIS Lions and Lionesses of Islam in job lots for months — and the Syrian Kurds will benefit just by not having the continued expense of caring for the thousand-plus most troublesome of their prisoners.
[Rudaw] Iraq has offered the US-led coalition to put hundreds of accused foreign jihadists on trial in Baghdad in exchange for millions of dollars, three government sources have told AFP.

Western countries have been rocked by fierce public debate over whether to repatriate their citizens who joined the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, which held swathes of Iraq and Syria for years before losing its last speck of land last month.

Around 1,000 suspected foreign ISIS fighters are in detention in northeast Syria, in addition to around 9,000 foreign women and kiddies in Kurdish-run camps there.

Iraq has proposed trying and sentencing the foreign suspects if the US-led coalition covers operational costs, three Iraqi officials have said.

"These countries have a problem, here's a solution," one told AFP, speaking anonymously because he was not authorised to give details to the press.

The source said Iraq had proposed a rate of $2 million per suspect per year, calculated based on the estimated operational costs of a detainee in US-run Guantanamo.

"We made the proposal last week but have not gotten a response yet," the source added.

A second official said Iraq had requested $2 billion to try the suspects as "one of several options," and could ask for "more money to cover the costs of their detention."

Iraq has already tried and sentenced several hundred foreign ISIS members, and others are in detention in Baghdad awaiting trial. They include at least 12 Frenchies who were transferred from Syria in February.

A third Iraqi official said detainees from as many as 52 countries could be put on trial in Baghdad.

"Iraq proposed to the coalition setting up a special tribunal to try foreigners. There's been a constructive beginning to those discussions," the source said.

But setting up the court could be complicated, the official said, with questions over whether international funding for it would preclude any implementation of the death penalty
The source added that Iraq had opted to propose the arrangement to the US-led coalition as a whole because it was simpler than negotiating with each country individually.

The US-led coalition did not immediately respond to an AFP request for comment.

Syria's Kurds have called for an international court in northeast Syria to try ISIS jihadists, but the US says countries should repatriate their own citizens. Transferring imported muscle to Iraq for trial appears to resolve a legal conundrum for Western powers, many of whom fear they may not have enough evidence to convict ISIS members who claim they did not fight.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel: Final 265,000 votes being counted overnight, with fate of New Right in the balance
[IsraelTimes] Tallying mail-in ballots from soldiers, diplomats and prisoners likely to be completed Thursday morning, with Naftali Bennett’s party 4,300 votes short of entering Knesset.

The Central Elections Committee was overnight Wednesday-Thursday counting the final 265,000 ballots that, while unlikely to change the overall picture of Tuesday’s general election, could make or break several parties hovering around the cusp of the election threshold.

The count includes votes from soldiers, diplomats, medical staff and patients in hospitals, prisoners and disabled people (3,940 special stations were accessible to voters with disabilities), representing about six percent of the total number of ballots cast in the election.

The count will likely continue through the night until Thursday morning, the committee said in a statement.

The remaining votes have usually led to relatively minor changes in the distribution of Knesset seats, but could potentially have a more fateful role this time.

Netanyahu clinched a clear electoral victory. Likud snagged 26.27% of the vote, the party’s best result since the 2003 election (when it won 38 seats under Ariel Sharon), and its best under Netanyahu.
In a shock development, Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked’s New Right party narrowly failed to enter the Knesset on the basis of the count thus far, garnering just 3.14% of the vote, some 4,300 votes under the electoral threshold. The final votes, the party was hoping, might lift it above the threshold ‐ from no seats to four seats.

The tally of the last batch of votes could also theoretically imperil Arab party Ra’am-Balad, which has 3.45%, just 8,400 votes over the threshold, and isn’t likely to garner many of the soldiers’ and diplomats’ votes.

Other parties projected to be not much further ahead when the extra votes are tallied were Moshe Kahlon’s Kulanu (3.56%, 12,300 over the threshold), Meretz (3.64%, 15,700 votes over the threshold) and the Union of Right-Wing Parties (3.66%, 16,700 votes over the threshold).

Additionally, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing Likud party was ahead of its centrist rival, Benny Gantz’s Blue and White faction, by a mere 13,000 votes.

Netanyahu clinch a clear electoral victory, with Likud tied with Blue and White at 35 in terms of Knesset seats, but the right-wing bloc with a handy lead and Netanyahu having a clear path to forming a governing coalition. Blue and White conceded defeat on Wednesday evening.

Likud snagged 26.27% of the vote, the party’s best result since the 2003 election (when it won 38 seats under Ariel Sharon), and its best under Netanyahu.

French Priest Killed by Islamists Takes Step towards Sainthood
[AnNahar] The Vatican on Wednesday accepted a voluminous dossier that puts French priest Jacques Hamel, who had his throat slit by Islamists in 2016, on the path to sainthood.

Dominique Lebrun, the archbishop of the northern French diocese of Rouen where the atrocity occurred, handed over the application, loaded into six heavy cartons, to the Vatican's Congregation of the Causes of Saints, an AFP journalist reported.

Cardinal Angelo Becciu, the head of the department that oversees beatifications and sainthoods, greeted Lebrun and a delegation of around 40 youths in an ornate hall lined with portraits of popes.

He said that while the department is currently considering some 1,500 applications, Hamel's was a "priority" for Pope Francis.

Hamel, aged 85, was conducting mass in the northern town of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, near Rouen, when two 19-year-olds burst into the church and slit his throat in front of five worshipers on July 26, 2016.

The gruesome attack caused widespread horror, coming two weeks after a radical used a truck to crush 86 people to death in the southern city of Nice.

The teenagers, who had pledged loyalty to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, were killed in a police operation to free the worshipers, whom they had taken hostage.

Beatification is the first step on the path to Roman Catholic sainthood.

It is reserved for three categories of people: deaders, those who have lived a life of heroic values, and others with a clear saintly reputation.

Applications for candidates deemed to have been a martyr for their faith need not demonstrate evidence of involvement in miracles -- one for beatification and another for sainthood.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iranian commander issues stern warning to US to stay away from IRGC Navy
[ALMASDARNEWS] Mohsen Rezaei, a senior commander in Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), has warned the US Navy to keep its vessels, including an aircraft carrier, at a distance from IRGC speed boats in Gulf waters.

“Mr Trump, tell your warships not to pass near the Revolutionary Guards boats”, the ISNA news agency cited Rezaei as saying on Tuesday.

The remarks came a day after Washington designated the IRGC as a terrorist organisation, in what Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei described as a move rooted in America’s “rancour” against the IRGC.

“The IRGC is the vanguard both on the field confronting the enemy on [Iranian] borders and even several thousand kilometres away [in Syria] as well as on the political battleground against the enemy”, Khamenei pointed out.

Referring to the US’ move to blacklist the IRGC, Khamenei said that “such malice will lead nowhere” and that “with the their deceit rebounding back to themselves, the Islamic Republic’s enemies — such as Trump and the idiots […] in the US government — are moving toward rock bottom”.

IRGC head Mohammad Ali Jafari, in turn, dismissed Washington’s designation, which he said “was quite laughable since the Revolutionary Guards are in people’s hearts”.

Jafari also pledged that “the Revolutionary Guards will increase its defensive and offensive capabilities in coming year”.

Earlier, Iran’s Supreme Security Council reportedly designated the US CENTCOM and related forces as a terrorist organisation.

“As a retaliatory measure to the US illegal decision [to recognize the IRGC as a terrorist organization], Iran declares the US regime a ‘state that supports terrorism’ and the CENTCOM and forces that are linked to it a ‘terrorist group’”, the security council’s statement, quoted by the Islamic Republic of Iranian Broadcasting state media outlet, read.

Announcing the decision to blacklist the IRGC on Monday, US President Donald Trump boasted that this “unprecedented” move “recognises the reality that Iran is not only a state sponsor of terrorism, but that the IRGC actively participates in, finances, and promotes terrorism as a tool of statecraft”.

#1  Deliberately provoke the IRDG, set them up and then crowd them. Get inside their space and then ruin their shoes. Make it obvious you are provoking them. They are afraid of the US. They can be humiliated. Be ready to document their reaction and then publicize it.
No one will feel sorry if a few get killed. Or we can treat Iran like Obama would treat them. See if that works.
Be SURE and keep the US Navy away from the IRDG boats and be nice nice . Bend over backwards to be kind and thoughtful.
And remember War is "unfair". Piss in the Prophet's beard.
