Afghanistan
NATO strike kills civilians in Afghanistan
[Al Jizz] A NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
air strike has killed four Afghan police and two civilians in the central-east Ghazni province, Afghan officials have said.

A front man for the US-led NATO force in Kabul told the AFP news agency on Thursday that the military was checking the information.

The attack happened after Taliban Death Eaters attacked a local police post in eastern Ghazni province before dawn and NATO planes were called in to support the officers under attack.

"The NATO planes went there to assist the police, but the post was bombed and four police were killed. Two civilians present were also killed," Fazul Ahmad Tolwak, chief of Ghazni's Deh Yak district, told AFP.

Ghazni provincial administration front man Fazul Sabawoon confirmed the incident and gave a similar account.

Tripoli gunmen free murder suspect
[Libya Herald] Gunmen today attacked a police vehicle today, Thursday, which was taking a murder suspect from Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
's Bab Ben Gashir cop shoppe to the public prosecutor's office nearby. Armed with Kalashnikovs, which they reportedly started firing into the air, as well as RPG firearms, they seven assailants forced the police to hand over the suspect and then escaped with him in two 4X4 vehicles.

The suspect, who has been allegedly linked to a number of murders of revolutionaries during the revolution and other killings since, is now the leader of a "brigade" of his own but which has no legal status.

He was enjugged
Please don't kill me!
on Tuesday in the capital's Bu Sleem district, a day after the Justice Minister Salah Al-Marghani declared that illegal brigades would be pursued and brought to justice if involved in crimes.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Count Guido had escaped from his bonds and overwhelmed his guard using the bludgeon the faithful Filomena had smuggled to him in the loaf of bread...
also today, masked gunnies attacked the cop shoppe in Bu Sleem. They dowsed the interrogation and investigation section where evidence is kept with petrol and set fire to it.

The police are not formally linking the two incidents, however, the centre is where the suspect was first interrogated.

Egypt navy intercepts arms-laden ship from Israel: security
[Al Ahram] Egypt's navy on Thursday seized a weapons-laden ship and enjugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
its crew who had set off from the Israeli port of Eilat en route to the African country of Togo, security officials said.

Officials [said] the ship, "which was flying the flag of an African country," was intercepted after it strayed into Egyptian territorial waters. The ship, with a crew of 14 and a cargo of 105 crates of unspecified weapons and ammunition, belonged to an African security company, the officials said.

The military's front man Colonel Ahmed Mohamed Ali said on his Facebook page the ship belonged to a company that secures maritime routes in the Red Sea, a haven of Somalia-based pirates.

"The weapons and ammunition on this ship are related to its work and mission to secure commercial vessels," he said.

But Israel's Channel 10 television contradicted the Egyptian military's version, reporting that the boat was carrying 40 tons of Iranian weapons destined for Syria or the Paleostinian Gazoo Strip.

No comment was immediately available from Israeli officials.

In his statement, Ali did not say whether the ship was released, but security officials had said the vessel would be held while authorities investigate whether it was carrying smuggled weapons.

Arabia
Mortar shells injure three in Abyan
[Yemen Post] Local officials in the southern restive province of Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
confirmed to the press on Thursday that alleged al-Qaeda Islamic fascisti attacked a military location early Thursday, using mortar shells.

As a result of the unforeseen attack three military men were maimed and referred to seek immediate medical attention.

"The mortar shells hit a military position located in Abyan's outskirts. More than three army soldiers were maimed in the attack," a government source said.

According to preliminary reports the terror Islamic fascisti would have fired about three mortar shells against the military, one of which manage to actually land on a building, injuring personnel and damaging infrastructures.

"two shells fell near the military site, while the third one fell on a building used by army troops, causing damages and casualties," an anonymous source told Xinhua agency.

Moreover, a group of gunnies believed to be linked to al-Qaeda attacked an anti-terror officer near Abyan military intelligence headquarters by attaching an explosive to his car. Although the bomb detonated, no one was injured.

While al-Qaeda has been known for attacking state and military infrastructures and personnel over the past two years, a mortar shell attack denotes of the resources the terror group still manages to acquire to spread chaos and instability in the region.

Ever since Yemen launched its National Dialogue Conference al-Qaeda has intensified its attacks in southern Abyan, trying to derail the state's progress toward reaching a national consensus and successfully achieving unity and reconciliation.

A united Yemen would indeed ill-serve al-Qaeda as its influence would slowly dwindle away and its regional relevance with it.

Bangladesh
Youths go for 22-hour blockade
[Bangla Daily Star] The Gonojagoron Mancha called a countrywide road blockade from 6:00pm today to 4:00pm tomorrow to counter Hefajat-e Islam's long march towards Dhaka.

It urged all rail, road and waterway transport owners and workers to cooperate and make the blockade a success.

Defying the radical Islamist groups' programme to resist the Shahbagh protesters, it will hold its pre-announced grand rally at Projonmo Chattar in the capital at 4:00pm tomorrow.

Imran H Sarker, spokesperson for the Gonojagoron Mancha, at a press briefing in the evening said, "It is very unfortunate that a vested interest group declared a long march targeting our grand rally."

He thanked the 23 pro-liberation organizations who have called a 24-hour hartal

to oppose the "dark forces".

Meanwhile,
...back at the pound, the little lost dog backed into the corner and showed its teeth. And what big teeth they were!...
Gonojagoron Mancha representatives yesterday submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister's Office, demanding a ban on Jamaat-Shibir politics.

Activists of the Gonojagoron Mancha brought out a procession from Shahbagh in the capital around midday.

Imran H Sarker told the PM in the memorandum, "On behalf of the Gonojagoron Mancha, we demand that this organization [Jamaat-e-Islami

"There is no place for a party of war criminals in a Bangladesh built upon the values of the Liberation War."

The movement has remained non-violent despite the deaths of some of its activists and arrests of some bloggers affiliated with it, Imran said. It will not leave the streets until its demands are met, he added.

He urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

to respond to the voices and sentiments of the pro-liberation youths.

The announcement for yesterday's programme came at a rally on March 26, against the backdrop of government inaction in initiating the process of the ban despite an ultimatum to it.

Grenade left on rail track
[Bangla Daily Star] Train communications on Jamalpur-Dewanganj route remained suspended for five hours yesterday as a grenade was found on the rail track near Chandra rail crossing in Jamalpur town.

Police and witnesses said railway workers found the grenade around 10:00 am while they were working near the rail crossing.

Being informed, Jamalpur Railway Thana police rushed to the spot and suspended train service on the route.

The train communication resumed around 3:00 pm after a team of explosives experts from Ghatail Cantonment defused the grenade.

It is suspected that myrmidons kept the grenade on the rail track for carrying out sabotage, reports UNB.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Hubba Hubba Club, Nunzio had his hands full of angry bleached blonde...
the government yesterday made Mohammad Mahbub-ur Rahman, the railways secretary, an officer on special duty.

He was attached to the public administration ministry, a gazette notification of the ministry said.

The notification, signed by the ministry's Deputy Secretary Abdul Quiyum, did not mention any reason behind his removal, reports our staff correspondent.

Gunmen kill two, injure three in Balochistan's Dalbandin area
[Dawn] At least two persons were killed and another three injured in a firing incident in Dalbandin town of Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
on Thursday.

Levies officials told Dawn.com that armed snuffies shot up a vehicle on ByPass road area of Dalbandin town near the Pak-Afghan border in Balochistan province.

Officials further added that two persons were killed on the spot whereas another three sustained serious wounds.

The injured were soon rushed to nearby district hospital for medical treatment where the condition of two persons was reported as critical.

Levies said Haji Muhammad Tahir Shahozai, a tribal leader was also among the dead.

They said armed snuffies managed to escape from the spot.

Pakistan expels Frenchmen over militant links
[Dawn] Pakistain has deported three Frenchies who have been held in secret since they entered the country illegally 10 months ago to fight NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants...
troops in neighbouring Afghanistan, officials said Thursday.

Investigators are expected to question the men in La Belle France, where the case is likely to draw parallels with Mohammed Merah, the 23-year-old who rubbed out seven people in southwest La Belle France in March 2012 after returning from Pakistain.

Investigators said Pak police incarcerated
Please don't kill me!
the trio on May 28 last year after they entered the country illegally from Iran.

They were enjugged
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
along with Naamen Meziche, another Frenchie of North African extraction previously known to Western security services as an alleged member of Al Qaeda. "They said they came to Pakistain to deepen their knowledge of Islam and to fight in Afghanistan," one investigator told AFP on condition of anonymity.

Meziche's arrest was announced last June but French and Pak officials had kept quiet about the other three. At the time, Pak officials said Meziche was probably heading to Somalia.

But Western experts said he had been en route to Pakistain's semi-autonomous tribal belt on the Afghan border, said to be an Al Qaeda and Taliban stronghold.

Investigators believe Meziche could have been taking the other three to the tribal belt close to the Pak-Afghan border.

Officials say the three men left La Belle France in January 2012, telling their families in Orleans south of Gay Paree that they were going on pilgrimage to Mecca in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in their national face...
. But five months later they were detained in Pakistain.

On Thursday a French diplomatic source confirmed that the last of the three suspects was now back on French soil, after being deported over the last 48 hours.

Their precise link to Meziche, who will also be deported, remains unclear. It also remains unclear whether they will face trial. A new law banning French citizens from going abroad for krazed killer training came into force last December, only after their arrest.

U.N. aid agency suspends Gaza distribution over riot at HQ
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The main U.N. humanitarian agency for Paleostinians said on Thursday it was suspending operations in the Gazoo Strip after demonstrators angered by aid cutbacks stormed its headquarters.

Some 800,000 Paleostinians, two-thirds of Gazoo's population, depend on the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and the suspension could exacerbate hardship caused by Israeli and Egyptian controls on the isolated enclave's borders.

Citing budget shortfalls, UNRWA said it had suspended some of its cash handouts and that this provoked violent protests this week, culminating in Thursday's breach of its Gazoo headquarters.

"What happened today was completely unacceptable: the situation could very easily have resulted in serious injuries to UNRWA staff and to the demonstrators. This escalation, apparently pre-planned, was unwarranted and unprecedented," Robert Turner, head of the agency's Gazoo operations.

"All relief and distribution centers will consequently remain closed until guarantees are given by all relevant groups that UNRWA operations can continue unhindered," he said in a statement.

Gazoo security officials had no immediate comment.

Turner said that despite the trimming of cash disbursements, UNRWA's food distribution in Gazoo "will continue unchanged."

Bomb kills senior government official in southern Thailand
A roadside bomb has killed a deputy provincial governor and another state official in southern Thailand on Friday, a week after the government held first formal talks with a terrorist rebel group. At least 29 people have died in the three southernmost provinces since Feb. 28 when the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) terrorists rebels agreed to hold talks.

Isra Thongthawat, deputy governor of Yala province, was traveling in a car with Chavalit Chairuek, a provincial disaster management official and his driver, when the bomb went off. Chavalit died at the scene. Isra died later in hospital, becoming the most senior civilian official to be killed in the south since the Muslim insurgency resurfaced in 2004.

Paradorn Pattanathabutr, secretary-general of Thai National Security Council, said, "We're expecting these kind of protest attacks but what happened does not indicate a failure in the talks with the BRN."

Fresh Clashes Rage in Syria's Aleppo
[An Nahar] Fresh battles broke out in a flashpoint district of Aleppo on Monday, while violence raged on the road linking the Syrian city to its international airport, a watchdog said.

"Fierce festivities raged between troops and rebels in the east of Sheikh Maqsoud district," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a day after a major rebel advance in the predominantly Kurdish neighborhood.

Regime tanks fired shells at other parts of the neighborhood, whose residents fled the area in large numbers for a second straight day.

Southeast of Aleppo, fresh festivities broke out near the city's international airport, said the Observatory, which relies on a network of activists, doctors and lawyers across Syria for its reports.

The airport has been closed since January.

Aleppo city has been scene of some of Syria's fiercest violence since battles first broke out in the northern city in July last year.

Much of the city has since been destroyed, and residents suffer constant power cuts and frequent water shortages.

To the west of the city, an air strike on rebel-held the town of Maaret al-Numan killed at least one child, said the Observatory, which reported several others injured.

Located in the northwestern province of Idlib, Maaret al-Numan has been under rebel control since October last year.

Elsewhere, a blast caused by an bomb hit the Rokn Eddin district in northern Damascus
...The capital of Iran's Syrian satrapy...
, said the Observatory, which also reported renewed shelling by government troops on rebel-held districts in the central city of Homs.

Monday's violence comes a day after at least 181 people were killed across Syria, among them 57 rebels, 67 civilians and 57 loyalist troops, the Observatory reported.

Syrian regime troops appeal for immediate aid in Al-Raqqa
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A medical regime battalion in Al-Raqqah, in Syria's north, appealed for aid claiming 80 members of armored Division 17 had been killed and another 250 injured.

The battalion has reportedly called on the Syrian regime command to intervene, in the next 24 hours, describing the situation in Raqqa as both "critical" and deteriorating.

"We have no water, no food and no electricity. The injured are dying of gangrene due to lack of medical aid," the battalion said.

The base occupies an area of about five kilometers and is currently being besieged on four fronts by the Free Syrian Army. Food is supposedly being delivered by helicopters and parachutes.

Rebels control around three quarters of the base, but regime forces are for the most part occupying the command center. Division 17 is reportedly the strongest of the regime troops in Raqqah.

Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, Jack stuck the cigar in his mouth, stepped onto the gantry, and asked Got a light, Mac?
Von Schtinken stopped short, lowering the dagger and trying to control his features.
If you light that thing, Herr Armschtröng, he pointed out, his voice tense, we all die!...

on Wednesday, the FSA seized control of a military base which belonged to Battalion 49 in Daraa's countryside after regime troops withdrew, following a siege and fierce festivities with opposition fighters.

The significance of the base is the fact it lies in the center of Daraa, which is in the south of the country, and is located between the towns of Alma and Kherbet Ghazleh. The base also allegedly has large arms warehouses.

The regime has used the base to shell Daraa, particularly the towns of Alma and Kherbet Ghazleh. The shelling has not only caused a lot of destruction but has displaced most residents to the point that almost 30,000 people who lived in both the towns have fled.

Battalion 49 is also known has been referred to as the 'battalion of death' because of the alleged brutal acts of murder and torture its members reportedly committed.

The FSA blocked the international road that linked Damascus
...Home to a staggering array of terrorist organizations...
to Amman about a month ago, which prevented supplies from reaching the battalion. This gave the FSA the upper hand and eventual control over the military base.
