Taliban attacks ‘security outpost’ in Faryab’s Dahandara dam
[KhaamaPress] Talibs have killed two guards of the Dahandara Dam in the Pashtun Kot district of northwestern Faryab province, the National Water Affairs Regulation Authority said.

Nizam Khpolwak, a front man for the National Water Affairs Regulation Authority, told the media that the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
had killed two guards and maimed another during the attack on the water dam.

He added that the Taliban had attacked the dam two months ago in which seven security force members appointed to protect Dahandara were killed.

According to reports one Taliban affiliate member was also killed during the skirmish.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.

Estimated to cost $37 million from the government budget, the dam is designed to irrigate about 4,000 hectares of farmland and generate one and half-megawatt of electricity.

The reservoir is the country’s fifth-biggest with 67 meters in height and could store more than 25 million square meters of water.

killed at least eight people including five NDS force members.

The explosion happened at around 1 pm in Khost province on Sunday, according to local police.

Police stated that at least eight people were maimed in the blast.

A motobike was reportedly loaded with explosive and later exploded at Mujahid square in the city.

All of the maimed individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment.

In a separate incident, a blast took place in Laghman
...Afghan province with a population of about 445,600, which is multi-ethnic and mostly a rural society. Watchdog Calls for Thorough Probe into Khost Operation
[ToloNews] The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) on Sunday called for a thorough investigation into claims of civilian casualties resulting from a government-back operation in Khost province
... across the border from Miranshah, within commuting distance of Haqqani hangouts such as Datta Khel and probably within sight of Mordor. Khost is populated by six different tribes of Pashtuns, the largest probably being the Khostwal, from which it takes its name...
The commission said that it too will probe the incident and the reports of civilian casualties.

Videos circulating on social media show that apparently women and kiddies were among those killed in the operation in Sabri district in Khost province, 230 kilometers south of Kabul.

"A team is assigned by the government, but the outcome of the probe is not shared with the people. We don’t know what happens to the perpetrators--or why such incidents occurred," said the chairperson of the commission, Shahrzad Akbar.

Residents of the province claimed that the operation was conducted by pro-government forces called "Campaign Forces," which are dependent on the National Directorate of Security
...the Afghan national intel agency...
One resident of the province, who was carrying the body of his child, said "many members" of his family had been killed in the operation, including women and kiddies.

"One couple has been maimed. The mother of this child was martyred, and another person was maimed," the resident said, who claimed that no Taliban
...Arabic for students...
were killed in the operation.
”They dropped their Kalashnikovs, which means they’re dead civilians now,’ he didn’t add aloud.
Official sources have not commented on an exact figure of civilian casualties in the operation, but some residents of the province claimed that at least 20 non-combatants were killed.

"The civilian casualties in Khost are a sad occurrence," said Hashim Alokozay, head of the defense committee of the Afghan Senate.

"Such incidents will provoke gatherings and protests by the people that could not be controlled by the government," said Juma-ud-Din Giyanwal, a senator.

Khost governor Mohmad Katawazai said the operation was conducted by Afghan forces in Sabrai district after Taliban infiltrated the district and closed the route that connects Maidan Wardak with Khost province.
That makes much more sense than a pointless massacre of innocent bystanders.
He said the operation is against the Taliban, and is ongoing.
So we can expect more dead civilians to be marked down in the Taliban’s personnel files over the next few days. Good.
"To those who say that a woman and a child were killed: They were killed after a Taliban member wanted to transport a bomb and it went kaboom! at the house and resulted in the casualties," he said.
Premature explodulation? Very believable.
He also denied the claims made about the video circulating on social media.

The Taliban in a statement claimed that government forces conducted an operation in different places in Sabrai district and attacked many houses from both the air and on the ground. A market called Maktab was targeted, the Taliban said, where a large number of non-combatants were killed.
Yes, but they are proud to call their god the best of deceivers, which makes all their claims questionable.

Nigeria's Maiduguri in darkness after another jihadist attack
[Al Ahram] The northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri has been thrown into darkness anew after jihadists blew up electricity towers just days after power was restored, officials and residents said.

Residents in the city of three million people reported a new power outage had occurred before dawn Saturday, but did not know immediately it had been caused by a new attack.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) reported Sunday that there had been a new incident of sabotage.

Electricity was on Wednesday restored to Maiduguri for the first time in two months following sabotage of a power grid by Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
West Africa Province (ISWAP) jihadists.
... ISWAP being Boko Haram’s special ISIS name.
'Again, two towers along Maiduguri-Damaturu line have been vandalised,' TCN said in a tweet on Sudnday.

'At around 5:56 am turbans bombed tower 152 and 153 on Damaturu Maiduguri 330 KVA line, causing another power outage,' a power company official added in a message to AFP.

Residents of Maiduguri are concerned about the impact on their livelihoods and water supplies as the TCN said it will work hard to restore power.

'Electricity went out early in the morning and I thought it was the usual power outage and power would be supplied later, only to hear it was another attack,' said Bukar Musa, a welder in the city.

'This is indeed bad news for me, my happiness over power supply resumption has been shortlived,' said Musa whose welding business has been crippled by the two-month outage.

'I have been looking forward restarting my workshop which has been closed since January 26,' said Musa who turned to menial jobs to eke out a living.

Grema Umar, an ice-block vendor, said he was happy he could resume his trade but that hope has been dashed by the second blackout.

'It is a disaster for us to be left without power and our means of living, especially in this hot season when people would require ice blocks for cold drinks,' said Umar.

ISWAP snuffies in late January blew up power lines outside the city, disrupting social and economic life of its three-million inhabitants.

It was the third time in a month that ISWAP would throw the entire city into darkness by blowing up transmission lines.

ISWAP and rival jihadist group Boko Haram

are notorious for blowing up telecom and power infrastructure in the northeast.

The jihadist conflict which began in 2009 has killed 36,000 people and displaced around two million.

Who are Al-Shabab militants terrorising northern Mozambique
[Al Ahram] Militants who seized the northern Mozambique town of Palma this week, murdering residents and forcing energy giant Total to suspend work on a nearby gas project, have wreaked havoc in the area for more than three years.

Here is a snapshot of the hard boys:

-ORIGINS-
In October 2017, about 30 gunnies launched a dawn raid on three cop shoppes in Mocimboa da Praia,

It’s not connected in any way to Somalia’s Al Shabaab, which looks to Al Qaeda, or Nigeria’s Boko Haram, also known as Islamic State West Africa Province, and may or may not be retreating in disarray...

#2  According to what I’ve been able to discover between Rantburg’s archives and the internet, Voldemort Omeater6755, Al Shabaab (Mozambique) funds itself through heroin, contraband and the ivory trade — and of course raiding. They’re pledged to ISIS and had some initial training in terroristing from Al Shabaab in Somalia, while their leadership appears to come from Tanzania, but I haven’t noticed anything specific about large investors. Who donates to Boko Haram (ISWAP) or the jihadis in Mali?

[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
s have managed to deport the last of Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
’s Jews by sending 13 members of three different families away from their homes in Sanaa. All that remains from the several—thousand-year-old community are four seniors, sources told Asharq al-Awsat.

Looking for a new place to call home, the exiled 13 are refusing to go to Israel and are waiting the UN refugee agency to transport them to any country that grants them asylum.

Their departure from Yemen came after withstanding years of pressure from Houthis and as part of a deal to free Levi Salem Marhabi,
...aka Levi Salem Musa Marhabi...
a Jew who was captured by the Iran-backed group’s intelligence around six years ago.

Houthis did not honor their own court’s ruling to release Marhabi and used his captivity as a bargaining chip to drive out whatever is left of the Jewish people in areas run by the militia.

So far, Houthis have succeeded in chasing Jews out of the governorates of Sanaa, Saada and Amran. The persecuted minority was moved out of their own country in three different batches.

"They gave us a choice between staying in the midst of harassment and keeping Salem a prisoner or leaving and having him released," said one of those who were expelled.

"History will remember us as the last of Yemeni Jews who were still clinging to their homeland until the last moment," they added.

"We had rejected many temptations time and time again, and refused to leave our homeland, but today we are forced."

Marhabi, languishing in his prison cell in Sanaa, has suffered different kinds of torture and was eventually left partially paralyzed by a stroke.

Marhabi was arrested for aiding a Yemeni Jewish family in moving a very rare deerskin Torah scroll, claimed by some to be 800 years old, out of the war-torn country.

#4  Note the first video, before the clip begins the truck has been hit on the windshield by what looks like a paint container of sorts, which is then smeared by the wipers.

If you find yourself in a situation like this, and liquids get on your windshield, consider if possible not using your wipers until extricated from the ambush zone.

In this case, it is possible a small paint balloon out of the way turned into a low visibility situation. That is by design.

Suspect arrested after attempted ramming attack in West Bank, army says
[IsraelTimes] A Paleostinian driver tried to ram his vehicle into a group of Israel Defense Forces soldiers near the West Bank settlement of Ma’ale Adumim on Sunday, the IDF said.

The vehicle instead hit several other Israeli vehicles and the suspect was arrested. There were no injuries reported in the incident, at the parking lot of the Ein Mabu’a nature reserve.

The military said the incident appeared to be a terror attack, but did not seem to rule out the possibility it had been an accident.

"The initial investigation of the incident and the suspect indicates it was an attempted terrorist attack. The terrorist accelerated toward a number of soldiers," the IDF said in a statement.

"There are no injuries. The terrorist was arrested and transferred to security forces for further investigation," the statement said.

Army Radio identified the driver as Ahmad Ghazzawi, 25. The radio report said he was previously jugged

for throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at Israelis.
That would certainly strengthen the argument for an intentional jihadi attack.
The suspected attempted attack came amid an uptick in violence in the West Bank in recent weeks, with an increasing number of rock-throwing attacks and Molotov cocktailings along highways as well as a number of attacks on Paleostinians.

Earlier this month, a Paleostinian man tried to stab an Israeli soldier during an overnight operation in the West Bank village of Tubas and was shot by another soldier.

Palm Sunday Suicide Bombers Attack Christian Church in Indonesia
[Breitbart] A suicide bombing outside a cathedral after Palm Sunday Mass on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi has injured more than a dozen churchgoers, some seriously.

The blast took place Sunday morning outside the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral in Makassar, capital of South Sulawesi province, as worshipers were leaving the church at the start of Holy Week. Palm Sunday, the first day of Holy Week, commemorates Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem days before his passion and crucifixion.

Two perpetrators are said to be responsible for the explosion, both of whom died. Inspector General Argo Yuwono, spokesman for the national police, said the injured suffered from wounds around their necks, chests, and legs, adding that some had blisters on their hands and feet.

The congregation had been inside the church at the time of the explosion, according to South Sulawesi police spokesman E. Zulpan.

"We see that there are victims and parts of human bodies have been torn apart. We do not know yet whether they are from the perpetrator or from the people who were close by," Zulpan said.

About the 2 Suicide Bombers Behind the Makassar Church Attack
[BenarNews] Two jacket wallahs carried out an attack outside a church in Indonesia’s South Sulawesi province that injured at least 20 people on Palm Sunday, the nation’s security ministry said, as the president condemned the act and urged Indonesians to "jointly fight terrorism."

At least one of the suspects killed in the earth-shattering kaboom was a member of a local cell of a pro-Islamic State

They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....

Clashes between SDF and unidentified gunmen in Syria's Deir ez-Zor
[NPASYRIA] On Sunday, festivities erupted between a patrol of the Deir ez-Zor Military Council forces and a group of gunnies, likely to be affiliated with ISIS, in the town of al-Shuhail, east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

"A night patrol of the Deir ez-Zor Military Council forces in the town of al-Shuhail clashed with four button men who were planting bombs near one of the military locations in the town," a military source told North Press.

"The button men fled, and then the military engineering teams started dismantling the explosive charges and moving them to the place designated for destruction," the source added.

The eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has witnessed liquidations and widespread and intense bombings in recent times, targeting members, vehicles and military points of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

On March 25, ISIS grabbed credit for targeting a military vehicle of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) with an bomb in the town of al-Sowar, north of Deir ez-Zor, which led to the death of two and wounding four.

Syria Kurds Launch Security Sweep in al-Hole
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Kurdish forces launched a security operation in a camp for suspected family members of ISIS group murderous Moslems and made dozens of arrests Sunday, a war monitor and Kurdish officials said.

"More than thirty women and men have been arrested" in a sweeping anti-ISIS operation in and around the al-Hol camp, said Rami Abdul Rahman, head of the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

"The arrests are ongoing" as part of a days-long operation by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which is the Kurdish regional administration’s main fighting force, the Kurdish YPG militia and a local police force, Abdul Rahman said.

Syrians and foreigners "suspected of supporting [ISIS]" have been arrested, he said.

SDF officials confirmed the operation, with one of them saying it would run at least 10 days.

The US-led coalition battling ISIS said it was providing its SDF partners with "intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance" support, AFP reported.

"The purpose of this SDF operation is to degrade and disrupt ISIS activities within the camp to ensure the safety and security of camp residents," coalition spokesperson Wayne Marotto told AFP, using an Arabic acronym for ISIS.

Al-Hol is the largest such settlement controlled by Kurdish authorities, who warn it is emerging as an bad boy powder keg.

It holds almost 62,000 people, mostly women and kiddies, including Syrians, Iraqis and thousands from Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and Asia suspected of family ties with ISIS fighters.

The Observatory has recorded around 40 murders in al-Hol since the start of this year.

Kurdish authorities say ISIS sympathizers are behind most of the murders, while humanitarian sources have said tribal disputes could be behind some of the killings.

In a report published last month, the UN said it had documented cases of "radicalization, fundraising, training and incitement of external operations" at al-Hol.

It also warned over the fate of around 7,000 children living in a special annex designated for foreign ISIS relatives.

They are "being groomed as future [ISIS] operatives", according to the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
Despite repeated calls by the UN and Kurdish authorities for countries to repatriate their nationals, only a limited number of people, mostly children, have been allowed to return.
