Afghanistan
U.S. has persuasive intel Taliban do not intend to abide by terms of peace deal
[NBCNEWS] The U.S. government has collected persuasive intelligence that the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
do not intend to honor the promises they have made in the recently signed deal with the United States, three American officials tell NBC News, undercutting what has been days of hopeful talk by President Donald Trump
...The man who was so stupid he beat fourteen professional politicians, a former tech CEO, and a brain surgeon for the Republican nomination in 2016, then beat The Smartest Woman in the World in the general election...
and his top aides.

"They have no intention of abiding by their agreement," said one official briefed on the intelligence, which two others described as explicit evidence shedding light on the Taliban's intentions.

Trump himself acknowledged that reality in extraordinary comments Friday, saying the Taliban could "possibly" overrun the Afghan government after U.S. troops withdraw.

"Countries have to take care of themselves," Trump told news hounds at the White House. "You can only hold someone's hand for so long." Asked if the Taliban could eventually seize power, Trump said it's "not supposed to happen that way, but it possibly will."

The intelligence described by the American officials is consistent with what Taliban sources have been saying in Pakistain. Those Taliban representatives say the group views the grinding of the peace processor as a way of securing the withdrawal of American "occupiers," after which it will attack the U.S.-backed government in Afghanistan.

Fifth Column
Report: FBI Dropped Ball On Domestic Terrorists Who Killed 70 People, Rand Paul Hits Comey
[DailyWire] According to an inspector general report released Wednesday, the FBI missed opportunities to stop at least five domestic terrorists who, in total, killed 70 Americans.

"[Inspector General] report finds HVEs (Homegrown Violent Extremists) carried out 20+ attacks (since 9/11) in US, ’some of which occurred after the FBI closed a counterterrorism investigation..FBI has not taken sufficient action to address weaknesses," CBS News Catherine Herridge reported Wednesday.

In a follow-up tweet, Herridge added: "New IG report ’...we found at least six attacks committed in the United States by individuals who the FBI had previously assessed or investigated...’ including 2009 Fort Hood,
... Nidal Hasan, Palestinian-American, U.S. Army major and psychiatrist...
2013 Boston Marathon bombing,
...the Tsarnaev brothers, Chechen-Americans and second generation failures...
2016 Pulse Nightclub."
...Omar Mateen, a.k.a. Omar Mir Seddique, Afghan-American ac/dc ISIS-loving son of a Taliban-loving father...
"When I asked James comey after the Pulse mass shooting if in retrospect the FBI concluded too soon that [redacted] was not a threat. The arrogant Comey refused to admit any mistake & maintained the opinion that [redacted] was not a threat. Comey: tell that to the 49 people who died," Paul wrote on Twitter.

The Grand Turk
Turkish prosecutors seek life imprisonment for defendants in Russian ambassador’s murder case

[PRESSTV] Ottoman Turkish prosecutors are seeking life imprisonment for defendants involved in the murder of Russian ambassador to Ankara, Andrey Karlov, who was assassinated by a member of a movement led by US-based opposition holy man Fethullah Gülen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world. Gülen and Erdogan used to be really good friends, but only one of them could be sultan, and Gülen lost...
On Thursday, the Ankara prosecutor's office demanded multiple aggravated life sentences for a total of eight defendants.

The indictment also pointed out that the killing of Karlov was "provocative action against Ottoman Turkish-Russian ties."

Back in November 25, 2018, Ottoman Turkish prosecutors concluded a two-year investigation, and indicted 28 suspects, including Gulen himself, and other high-ranking members of his movement over the Russian ambassador’s killing.

According to the indictment, former Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) employee Sahin Sogut was a "covert imam" ‐ a Gulen movement clandestine preacher ‐ of the assassin Mevlut Mert Altintas.
...the off-duty Turkish police officer about whom nothing else seems to be known except that the Turks found labelling him a Gulenist to be awfully convenient. He was conveniently shot dead at the scene of the art gallery assassination, and so could not give awkward answers ...
The indictment noted that Altintas and Sogut communicated via their social media and e-mail accounts.

The pair was in close contact ten days before the liquidation, and Altintas got detailed instructions regarding the murder.

Altintas, clad in civilian clothing, shot down Karlov as he was inaugurating a photo exhibition in the Ottoman Turkish capital city of Ankara on December 19, 2016.

India-Pakistan
At least 70 hospitalised after gas leak at chemical factory in Karachi's Bin Qasim
[DAWN] At least 70 people were affected by a gas leak at Engro Polymer & Chemicals Plant in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
's Bin Qasim area, officials said on Friday.

According to an official statement from Engro, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, the incident was caused due to the "release of chlorine gas through the vents".

The statement said: "The matter was quickly contained and the affectees were immediately taken for necessary first aid to nearby medical facilities. Patients were being released once cleared after necessary inspection and necessary first aid. No fainting spells, injuries or fatalities have been reported thus far."

The blurb said that due to the incident, specific areas of the plant have been "taken offline" as a precautionary measure, adding that further investigations to ascertain the exact cause of the incident are under way.

The statement also clarified that the incident did not occur due to a boiler explosion, adding that all employees exposed to the gas were being screened.

However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) Executive Director Dr Seemin Jamali said that 80 patients had been brought to the facility, at least one of whom was at death's door. She later clarified that 70 people had been brought to the facility.

Speaking to Dawn.com, Jamali maintained that an emergency had been declared at the hospital due to the gas leak.

"Around 55 patients were discharged after being provided first aid. Around 15 patients are still at the facility," she said, adding that all those affected by the incident were facing breathing difficulties.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Lebanon PM says country unable to pay foreign currency debt
[Sky News] Lebanon's prime minister has said his country is unable to pay its foreign currency loans and is set to default on debt for the first time ever.

Hassan Diab made the announcement in a speech to the Middle East nation which is currently engulfed in a major financial crisis.

The value of its local currency has fallen by about 40% since October and mass protests have taken place for months against the government.
and Hezbollah's influence
He said he wanted to restructure the country's debt through negotiations with its bondholders.

Lebanon has a $1.2bn Eurobond due on 9 March, but Mr Diab said that payment will now be suspended.

The crisis, where savers have been denied full access to their bank account money, is seen as the biggest risk to Lebanon's stability since the end of the 1975-90 civil war.

The move to not pay maturing Eurobonds and to launch negotiations with creditors was taken unanimously at a cabinet meeting, it is reported.

Zionist elements developed deadlier strain of coronavirus against Iran: Academic
[PRESSTV] An American academic and analyst has suggested that "Zionist elements" in the US or Israel have exploited the global coronavirus epidemic to create and spread a deadlier strain of the virus in Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
as a form of "biological warfare" against Iranians.

"I believe that what is going on is, under the cloak of the alleged coronavirus epidemic, that biological warfare is being conducted against Iran by Zionist elements who are taking advantage of the situation," said James Fetzer, a retired professor of philosophy at the University of Minnesota.

"This is why Iran appears to be hit so severely; in other words, the coronavirus is being used as a smokescreen to conceal the fact that the real enemies of Iran are deliberately targeting the Iranian people," Fetzer told Press TV on Thursday.

Fetzer said a more aggressive type of the new coronavirus might be spreading in Iran. "I encourage Iranian scientists to examine the virus to see if it is, or is not, the same as the virus that is alleged to be causing such harm around the world," he said.

"Almost certainly, in my opinion, this is in fact a plot to damage Iran," he added.

Coronavirus US psyop: Iran sock puppet
[PRESSTV] A former US military psychological warfare officer has said that the coronavirus is probably a fabricated psychological warfare operation launched by the United States to spread fear, panic and intimidation in the Chinese economic markets.

Since the novel coronavirus outbreak began in China last December, it has infected more than 90,000 people globally and killed more than 3,000. The majority of cases and deaths remain in mainland China.

The corpse count from the coronavirus in Iran, which has one of the highest numbers outside China, stood at 107, Health Ministry front man Kianush Jahanpur said Thursday.

Scott Bennett said that "this is a fabricated psychological operation that has been coordinated with an actual physical sickness to spread fear, panic and intimidation in the Chinese economic markets with the purpose of isolating China and disrupting the Chinese-Russian-Iranian economic, military alliance that we've seen in their patrols in the Persian Gulf, and their solidarity in the defense of Syria from the... regimes of Recep Erdogan and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
, Mohammed bin Salman
...Crown Prince of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
as of 2016. The Turks hate him, so he must be all right, despite the occasional brutal murder of Qatar-owned journalists...
of Saudi Arabia, and Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli Zionist state, and the purpose was to create a disruption that would fracture this alliance for Western exploitation."

"The safest and best explanation is to see this as a exploited psychological operation designed to so panic intimidation and also open up doors for ’aid and immune vaccination development,’ which may in fact lead to more harm than good. Remember the West and the (US) Deep State is inundated with a lot of these big pharmaceutical companies that generate vaccines that do nothing except cause more harm and more cancerous debilitation on the human body for the purposes of profit and exploitation," he added.

#5  I can only vouch for the Army, but promotion from 2d to 1st LT is an administrative act without any selection board at the end of the second year of service. The personnel office sends a form to the individual's commander and they check a box and return. If the don't recommend promotion, they have to explain why it shouldn't be done. If someone is separated from service before the end of second year, that routine would not occur.

DOJ approves plan to collect DNA from arrested illegal immigrants
[WASHINGTONTIMES] The Trump administration finalized a new policy Friday that paves the way for Homeland Security to collect DNA from all illegal immigrants colonists the department arrests, fulfilling the terms of a 2005 law that the government has been evading for years.

Under the new rules, posted online Friday and slated to be published in the Federal Register next week, Attorney General William P. Barr can cancel an Obama-era waiver and order collection of DNA by agents and officers in both U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

It was supposed to be already happening, but in 2010 then-Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and then-Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano worked out a waiver. It was supposed to be temporary, to give Ms. Napolitano’s agencies time to figure out the collection, but it was renewed each year without any debate.
