[ToloNews] The Kandahar police claimed on Tuesday that Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... attacks in seven districts were repulsed and dozens of Taliban were killed, including Paks.
Tadin Khan, the provincial police chief, said that dozens of Taliban snuffies on late Monday night carried out a mass attack in Shorabak, Arghistan, Maruf, Shah Wali Kot, Miyanishin, Khakrez and Maywand districts.
Tadin Khan said that security forces pushed back all of the Taliban attacks.
"Last night the Taliban attacked the border police in Shorabak district and during the clash 27 Taliban fighters--including Panjabis and Kashmiris--were killed," said Tadin Khan.
"The Taliban suffered heavy casualties in all districts and 65 Taliban fighters were killed," said Khan.
Tadin Khan made a statement warning the snuffies that Kandahar will become a graveyard for the Taliban.
"Security forces are following the Taliban everywhere and will eliminate them. Taliban leaders are sitting at home and sending other people’s sons to battle," Khan said.
According to Khan dozens of others Taliban were maimed in the clash.
Tadin Khan did not give details on security forces casualties during the festivities.

Maroof Azar, a spokesperson for the Jawzjan province told Khaama Press that Afghanistan National Security Defense Force based at ’Antan Hill’ in Darzab district of Jawzjan have peacefully drawn back from the area as per the demands of the residence of Darzab.
"Almost 50% of the district was in the hands of Taliban for the last 3 months, the residents of the district ere fed up of a continuous war.", Azar said.
"Around 2,000 residence of Darzab district had spoken with the Taliban commanders based in Darzab, requesting them for a ’ceasefire’, but Taliban did not accept it, therefore the residence came to ANSDF asking for a draw back for the sake of peace and security.", Maroof Azar added.
"The ANSDF have fully drawn back from Darzab, leaving the district including the ’Antan Hill’ military base for Taliban", Maroof said.
The area is now in full control of Talibs, Maroof confirmed.
Afghanistan Ministry of Defense (MOD) has said in a statement that Afghan forces have changed their base from ’Antan Hill’ to another location due to cold weather condition.

Garissa County police commander Alfred Angengo said the two businessmen, Abdullahi Issack Harun and Abdi Hassan Ilkaase, who were kidnapped by about 20 al-Shabaab bully boyz on Dec. 26, were traced and taken to Liboi cop shoppe on Sunday.
He said only three bully boyz boarded the vehicle in which the two businessmen were traveling in and proceeded with the captives to neighboring Somalia.

The two businessmen, who were freed on Dec. 27, appeared in good health though tired, he said.
The two were ferrying miraa (khat) to Liboi when they were ambushed by al-Shabaab bully boyz and taken to Somalia, Angengo said.
He said security forces will conduct operations along the border areas to flush out bully boyz believed to be planning to stage attacks in the region.
The abduction came two weeks after bully boyz ambushed a Garissa-bound commuter bus and killed 11 people, including eight coppers.

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces paramilitary orders its supporters to end their sit-in at the US embassy compound in Baghdad, but hardliners pledge to stay put outside the mission.
“You delivered your message,” the PMF says in a statement addressed to the crowds encircling the embassy since yesterday in outrage over deadly American air strikes on a pro-Iran PMF faction over the weekend.
It calls on supporters to regroup outside the high-security Green Zone where the mission is located, but a leading commander in Kataeb Hezbollah, the group targeted in the US raids, tells AFP they would “remain” at the embassy.

Air supremacy is still a big deal. Iraqi gummint trying to play all sides while sitting on the fence. That always works out so well. Maybe some people at DoD and DoS can learn a thing ot two. Word has it the bad guys used a funeral procession as cover and nobody got past the Ugandan guard force. I suspect there will be more arriving the AO and Baghdad than the 82nd, just saying.
Somehow I doubt they all just rucked up and got away. There are likely remnants of a local Iranian network to deal with. The next few days and weeks should be interesting.

1) Winston Churchill once said there was no more exhilarating feeling than to be shot at and missed. Conversely there is nothing worse than to shoot at your sworn enemy and publicly miss. The ayatollahs have committed the ultimate diplomatic crime and walked out empty handed.
2) If the object was to teach the US not to strike back at Iranian proxy bombers the exercise also failed. Things are right back where they started: the low level conflict and the strangling sanctions continue.
3) It's sad commentary on the state of the world that it is the best we can hope for. Who "won" depends on whose side time is on.

[THEBAGHDADPOST] The Pentagon has directed at least 100 Marines to reinforce the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad on Tuesday following violent protests that have sent U.S. diplomats into hiding.
Following a State Department request for protection at the embassy, the Marines were approved by Iraqi Security Forces and deployed via Chinook helicopters with two Apache attack helicopters providing air support, U.S. Central Command front man Mike Lawhorn said.
The Marines are reportedly from Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Central Command, a ground force deployed to the Middle East that specializes in crisis response, U.S. officials added.
Unconfirmed videos on social media show what appears to be Chinooks and Apaches flying over the embassy.
