[SkyNewsAustralia] Israeli strikes hit Yemen's capital on Sunday in retaliation for Houthi missiles fired towards Israel, with a Houthi health official saying the attack killed six people and wounded 86.
The strikes on the city of Sanaa are the latest in over a year of direct attacks and counterstrikes between Israel and Houthi militants in Yemen, as part of a spillover from the war in Gaza.
The Israeli military said the targets included a military compound housing the presidential palace, two power plants and a fuel storage site.

According to the military, the Yemeni presidential palace in Sanaa is "located within a military site from which the military operations of the Houthi terrorist regime forces are conducted." Some local media reported that the palace had been abandoned for years.
The two power plants that were targeted "served as a significant electricity supply facility for military activities," the IDF said. The IDF said that the Houthis’ use of the plants "constitutes further proof of how the Houthi regime uses civilian infrastructure for military purposes."
The strikes involved around a dozen IAF aircraft, including fighter jets and refuelers. Multiple refueling operations were carried out during the lengthy flight to and from Yemen. Some 35 munitions were dropped on the four targets, according to the IDF.
Sunday’s strike marked the 15th time that Israel has attacked the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, located some 1,800 kilometers (1,100 miles) away.
The Houthis last attacked Israel on Friday night with a ballistic missile that was not intercepted. According to assessments in the IAF, the missile’s warhead broke up in the air during its descent, deploying several sub-munitions. One munition struck the yard of a home in the central town of Ginaton, causing slight damage. The munitions do not have their own propulsion or guidance and simply fall to the ground, where they are designed to explode on impact.

Anti-migrant protests persisted across Britannia on Sunday outside hotels housing asylum seekers, a day after police were forced to separate demonstrators and counter-protesters in multiple cities as tensions flared over immigration policies.
With immigration polling as the public’s top concern, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour government has been under pressure to deliver on its pledge to end hotel use, which is costing billions of pounds a year.
Britannia has seen regular protests in recent weeks outside hotels housing asylum seekers, spurred in part by concerns about public safety after a migrant who was accommodated in a hotel east of London was charged with sexual assault.
Demonstrations took place on Sunday across the country, including in Epping, east of London, Bristol and Birmingham.

Maduro remains a fugitive from a 2020 U.S. indictment on narco-terrorism and drug trafficking charges.
Trump last week ordered at least three Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyers, a submarine and other assets to head toward the South American nation, a source familiar with the operation confirmed to The War Zone on Wednesday. Earlier this week, Reuters reported that in addition to the destroyers, some 4,000 Marines aboard an Amphibious Ready Group made-up of three ships were also deploying to the region. If this ends up being the case, it would put a remarkably large, versatile, and powerful armada of U.S. ships off Venezuela’s coast.
While the exact nature of this movement remains unclear, it is part of Trump’s larger effort to get the military involved in the fight against drug traffickers. In response, Maduro on Monday announced the planned deployment of more than 4.5 million militia members around the country. They are volunteers designated to bolster the armed forces’ defense against external and domestic attacks.
“The empire has gone mad and has renewed its threats to Venezuela’s peace and tranquility,” Maduro said at an event in Caracas, without mentioning any specific action.
Trump, whose problems with Maduro date back to the American president’s first term, has accused the Venezuelan leader of being a key part of the international drug trade he targeted as a top priority to fight. The White House considers Maduro a “narco-terrorist.”

Exactly what the U.S. plans to do with its military assets in regards to Maduro remains murky.
Last week, U.S. officials told CNN that it had ordered naval movements in the region to contain the threat from drug trafficking groups. On Monday, Reuters reported that the USS Gravely, USS Jason Dunham and the USS Sampson and some 4,000 military personnel would arrive at the edge of Venezuela’s territorial waters within the next 36 hours.

Australian police say they have arrested a second person suspected of being responsible for an arson attack on Melbourne’s Adass Israel Synagogue in December that pushed the country’s antisemitism problems into the international spotlight.
A 20-year-old man from Meadow Heights was arrested in mid-August by the Victorian Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT) for his alleged role in the Molotov cocktailing, which injured two people and destroyed much of the buildings. Police announced the arrest on Thursday, when the man was charged with arson, conduct endangering life, and theft of a motor vehicle.
Arson carries a maximum penalty of 15 years’ imprisonment, while the other two charges have a maximum penalty of 10 years, the Australian Federal Police, Victoria Police and the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation said in a joint statement.
The arrest was the second connected with the incident, after a 21-year-old Melbourne man was detained and charged in late July. No announcement has been made about a third individual believed to have been involved with the attack.
"The AFP, together with Victoria Police under the JCTT, warned we would not allow these alleged crimes to go unpunished, and today’s latest arrest highlights that we remain laser focused on identifying those responsible and holding them to account for this attack," AFP Acting Assistant Commissioner Counter Terrorism and Special Investigations Nick Read said in a statement following the charges.
"This investigation has been one of the highest priorities for the JCTT. I want to reassure the community — especially the Jewish community — that the AFP, together with Victoria Police and ASIO, are working relentlessly to bring this investigation to its conclusion."
Security forces have been criticized within the Australian Jewish community for their months-long failure to identify the suspects in the case, which many saw as a turning point in the battle against antisemitism.
More than 220 law enforcement officers have devoted more than 50,000 hours to the investigation, authorities said in July.

Denmark is a traditional supporter of Israel, but has said it wants to use its current presidency of the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... to increase pressure on the Israeli government to end the war in Gaza, which Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said in a recent interview had gone "too far."
She also said that Netanyahu has become a "problem," and likened Israel to Russia, which has been widely sanctioned for its invasion of Ukraine.
Frederiksen added in that interview that she wanted to consider "political pressure, sanctions, whether against settlers, ministers, or even Israel as a whole," referring to trade or research sanctions.

But Denmark has said it has no plans to recognize a Paleostinian state in the near future. [NYPost] An American has been stabbed after confronting a Syrian national in Germany after allegedly stepping in to help two female passengers being harassed on a tram, according to reports.
The young man was attacked at around 12:25 a.m. on Sunday after intervening when “two men from a group harassed female passengers” on the tram in the eastern German city of Dresden, Saxony police said in a statement.
Pictures from the scene show blood spattered over the tram along with empty booze bottles as well as tissues that other passengers used to halt the bleeding.
The unidentified American was rushed to the hospital in a serious condition with knife wounds to his face, according to police.
“A 21-year-old US citizen intervened and was injured with a knife by one of the other perpetrators in the ensuing altercation,” police said in a statement.
“The US citizen suffered multiple cuts to his face with a knife,” police spokesperson Thomas Geithner told German outlet Bild.
One suspect, a 21-year-old Syrian national named as “Majid A” by police, was arrested less than half a mile away at another tram stop on suspicion of being involved in the attack after allegedly beating up the American man on the tram, Bild reported.
He was released by police later on Sunday, despite having previous charges of grievous bodily harm, robbery and illegal entry, Bild reports.”He was temporarily arrested and released by the prosecutor’s office,” Geithner said.
Authorities in Dresden said that they didn’t have enough evidence linking the man to the knife attack.
“According to the on-call public prosecutor’s assessment, there were insufficient grounds for detention. The knife attack cannot be attributed to him,” Senior Public Prosecutor Jurgen Schmidt told Bild.
A second man, who allegedly returned to the tram and stabbed the victim, is still on the run, according to German police.
“We are investigating him and the still unknown man for, among other things, grievous bodily harm,” the police statement continued.
Surveillance footage from the tram is currently being studied by police, who have urged witnesses to come forward.
“In particular, the numerous tram passengers who can provide information about what happened,” police said.

The incident occurred in Crown Heights just after a tragic mass shooting that killed three people. The shooting coincided with an annual vigil commemorating the 1991 death of Gavin Catto, a seven-year-old Black child who was killed in a car accident that involved a Hasidic Jewish driver.
Antifa sought to take advantage of the commemoration to spark violence in the neighborhood. They shouted anti-Jewish rhetoric in the hopes of pushing Black residents to physically assault their Jewish neighbors. It appears they were trying to use historical racial and ethnic tensions between Black and Hasidic Jewish communities to incite another riot.
However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened... video footage shows the Black residents standing between Antifa and the Jewish residents as both groups told the leftist agitators to leave. The accident that sparked the Crown Heights riots occurred when a Jewish driver in the motorcade of Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson lost control of his vehicle after he ran a red light. He swerved to avoid colliding with another vehicle and struck two young Black children. Cato was pinned under the car and later died. The other child was maimed, but he survived.
Tension rose when a private Jewish ambulance arrived and transported unharmed Jewish passengers and the driver from the scene. City emergency services were delayed in rendering aid to the victims, which fueled rumors that the Jewish residents had received preferential treatment.
The situation devolved into three days of riots. High-profile individuals like civil rights hustler Al Sharpton ...Tawana Brawley's spiritual advisor... threw gas on the fire, leading marches and inciting division. The riots left one Jewish person dead and 150 people injured.
This is what Antifa was hoping to recreate by showing up just after a mass shooting that coincided with the commemoration of the riot. They wanted to reignite ethnic tensions and push the Black residents into assaulting their Jewish neighbors. Antifa did the same during the Saint George Floyd ...The patron saint of Minneapolis... riots. At the time, several videos went viral on social media showing Black residents telling the mostly white agitators to leave their neighborhoods and stop engaging in violence.

The most significant development in Pakistain’s krazed killer landscape during the week was the formation of a new krazed killer alliance titled Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen Pakistain (IMP), comprising the Hafiz Gul Bahadur ...a member of the Madda Khel clan of the Uthmanzai Waziris. Educated in a Deobandi madrassa located in Multan, he is affiliated with the Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) political party. Upon the formation of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in December 2007, he was announced as the group's overall naib amir under Baitullah Mehsud, who was based in South Wazoo, but has largely distanced himself from the TTP due to rivalries with the Mehsuds and disagreements about the TTP's attacks against the Pak state.. Group (HBG), Lashkar-e-Islam ...a group of Islamic bandidos infesting Khyber Agency. It was headed by a former bus driver and eventually folded into the TTP... , and the newly emerged Harkat Inqilab-e-Islami Pakistain (HIIP). The announcement was made on April 11, 2025, simultaneously released through the official media wings of all three groups. It declared the formation of IMP as a unified front for "elevating the word of Allah," supporting the oppressed, and waging armed struggle (jihad fi sabilillah) under a shared ideological and organizational structure.
According to the founding statement, Mahmood ul-Hasan (محمود الحسن) will serve as the official spokesperson of IMP, while its media wing will operate under the name "Sada-e-Ghazwat-ul-Hind" (صدائے غزوۃ الہند). Following this announcement, all attack claims and public communications by the constituent groups have been issued exclusively under the IMP banner, signaling full operational consolidation.
Between April 12 and 16, IMP grabbed credit for multiple attacks targeting security forces in North Wazoo and the Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency ... the place to go if you've got an Indiana Jones hat and whip. Chock full of high adventure and treacherous Pathans. You should really train up to it, though... . These included sniper strikes, rocket launcher and grenade attacks, ambushes on convoys, and a notably advanced drone kaboom using a quadcopter in Miranshah ... headquarters of al-Qaeda in Pakistain and likely location of Ayman al-Zawahiri. The Haqqani network has established a ministate in centered on the town with courts, tax offices and lots of madrassas... . The use of such technology, coupled with multilingual claims in Urdu, Pashto, and English, suggests a deliberate effort to signal operational sophistication and trans-regional reach.
Although the operational footprint of IMP remains confined for now to two tribal districts, its potential for rapid expansion cannot be overlooked. The presence of Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, which has already been responsible for several high-profile attacks across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in recent years, gives the alliance considerable tactical depth and field experience. Furthermore, there are credible indications that loyalists of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA)—a faction that once rivalled TTP in scale and reach—may join IMP due to growing rifts with Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud’s leadership. Should this occur, IMP’s operational scope could extend nationwide, significantly altering the balance of krazed killer power in Pakistain.
The emergence of IMP has triggered a defensive ideological response from Tehrik-e-Taliban ...Arabic for students... Pakistain (TTP), which sees itself as the sole standard-bearer of jihadi militancy in the country. While avoiding direct reference to the new alliance, TTP disseminated a series of ideological messages through its Bunyanum Marsoos media outlet. These included a written version of a speech by Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud, emphasizing the need for unity under a single leadership, flag, and structure. He invoked the success of the Afghan Taliban as a model rooted in discipline and central authority and warned against divisions, which he blamed for past setbacks.
Further articles titled "One Ameer, One Flag, One Movement: The Secret of Victory" and "The Necessity of Centralized Jihad" reinforced this theme. These narratives framed the emergence of independent groups as a threat to the cohesion of the Islamic struggle in Pakistain and suggested that such splintering allows infiltration by enemy intelligence agencies. Earlier, on April 13, senior TTP leader Mufti Nadeem Darwaish also published a short essay calling TTP the most structured and legitimate jihadi group in Pakistain and urging others to formally join its ranks through bay’ah.
While the discourse has remained doctrinal rather than confrontational, the tone reflects clear anxiety over the emergence of a rival pole. The ideological battle underway between TTP and IMP is as much about narrative ownership as it is about ground control.
Security Implications for Pakistain:
The formation of IMP adds a new layer of complexity to Pakistain’s internal security landscape. The Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, a core member of the alliance, has a history of high-profile attacks, including ambushes on military convoys and targeted assaults in North Waziristan and Bannu. The potential regrouping of scattered Death Eaters under a new operational command raises the threat of renewed murderous Moslem activity in tribal districts that had recently seen relative calm.
More significantly, if JuA-linked elements gravitate toward IMP, this could reignite violence in settled districts of Punjab ...1. Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2. A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3. A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots
.... , Sindh, and urban KP, where JuA once maintained active cells. A growing IMP could also lead to inter-group rivalry and splinter violence, especially if both alliances (TTP and IMP) begin competing for fighters, funding, and influence. The possibility of parallel command structures conducting independent operations may pose challenges for intelligence coordination, force deployment, and threat attribution.
In the short term, Pakistain’s security apparatus must monitor whether IMP’s operational activities remain localized or begin to spread. In the medium to long term, the durability of the alliance—and its ability to absorb disgruntled cadres from TTP or other defunct factions—will determine its potential as either a temporary rupture or a sustained krazed killer force.

"The heroes of the [Iraqi] Counter-Terrorism Service [ICTS] were able to arrest one of the most dangerous bully boyz in the capital, Baghdad, against whom an arrest warrant was issued by the Service’s judge," the ICTS said in a statement.
He held numerous positions within ISIS, including as a military commander in the group’s so-called "Southern Province," a member of the "Islamic Police" in Nineveh, and a leadership position in the group’s "Nahawand Division," according to the ICTS.
ISIS seized control of swathes of Iraqi land in a brazen offensive in 2014, declaring a so-called "caliphate."
The group was territorially defeated in Iraq in 2017, but it continued to pose security risks through hit-and-run attacks, kidnappings, and bombings, particularly in a vast stretch of land disputed between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), which includes parts of Nineveh, Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... Diyala, and Salahaddin.
Despite the threats, Iraqi authorities stress that attacks by ISIS have largely simmered down.
Thousands of people have been detained across Iraq since 2014 for suspected links to holy warrior groups, including ISIS, and hundreds have been executed.

"Violations were discovered in the registration of some cases and their exploitation in granting national IDs to ISIS terrorist gangs during the period of their control over courts and health departments," the ministry said in a statement, and 11 officers were referred to court.
The cards were issued in Anbar’s al-Qaim district, which borders Syria, and the ministry asserted that the IDs were revoked.
The vast western Anbar province, which partly borders Syria, is a known hotspot for ISIS bad boys, with the jihadists continuing to operate from hideouts in the desert.
Last year, a major joint operation by the Iraqi army and US forces in Anbar killed 16 ISIS members, and the US military later said that the raid killed four ISIS leaders.

Witnesses reported the sound of nonstop explosions overnight in the areas of Zeitoun and Shejaia, while tanks shelled houses and roads in the nearby Sabra neighborhood and several buildings were blown up in the northern town of Jabalia.
The IDF said Sunday that troops of the 401st Armored Brigade returned to Jabalia in recent days, joining the Givati Infantry Brigade, which has been operating the area — just north of Gaza City — for the past week.
The military said the forces, led by the 162nd Division, are working to dismantle Hamas ..a regional Iranian catspaw,... capabilities in the area, including by destroying tunnels, "eliminating terrorists, and strengthening operational control over the area."
"The troops’ activity enables the expansion of the fighting to additional areas and prevents Hamas Death Eaters from returning and operating in these areas," the IDF said.
The IDF has said it is operating on the outskirts of Gaza City ahead of a major offensive that would see it capture the entire city.
Tens of thousands of reservists are due to show up for duty on September 2 for the offensive, which is likely to begin in the following weeks.
While fleeing westward from Jabaliya, schoolteacher Salim Dhaher said he saw weaponized robots planting explosives as troops advanced from the opposite direction. As they set the stage for Israel’s push to seize the city, Dhaher said he feared it was part of a larger effort to forcibly remove Paleostinians from the north.
The aim is clear, he said: "To destroy everything above the ground, and force the transfer."
Around half of the enclave’s two million people currently live in Gaza City, and there has been little sign, ahead of the invasion, of the hundreds of thousands of Paleostinians evacuating the city, which Israel says is still a Hamas stronghold. Many are exhausted by repeated displacements and unconvinced that any area — including so-called humanitarian zones — offers safety.
A few thousand have already left, carrying their belongings on vehicles and rickshaws.
"I stopped counting the times I had to take my wife and three daughters and leave my home in Gaza City," said Mohammad, 40, via a chat app. "No place is safe, but I can’t take the risk. If they suddenly begin the invasion, they will use heavy fire."
Others said they will not leave, no matter what.
"We are not leaving, let them bomb us at home," said Aya, 31, who has a family of eight, adding that they couldn’t afford to buy a tent or pay for the transportation, even if they did try to leave. "We are hungry, afraid and don’t have money."
In the part of Gaza City where he and his family have sheltered since being displaced from a neighborhood on the city’s southern edge, Ossama Matter said he had seen houses reduced to rubble and neighborhoods razed beyond recognition.
"They want it like Rafah," he said, referring to a town in southern Gaza destroyed earlier in the war. "There have been nonstop explosions and strikes in the past days."
The planned campaign has sparked a major international outcry, with governments and humanitarian groups warning of potentially disastrous consequences for Gaza’s civilians, noting widespread malnutrition that has recently worsened significantly amid the 22-month war.
GAZANS REPORT 4 KILLED NEAR AID SITES
Also on Sunday, local witnesses said that Israeli forces killed four aid seekers traveling through a military zone south of Gaza City — an area regularly used by Paleostinians trying to reach a food distribution point.
Al-Awda Hospital and two eyewitnesses told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that the four Paleostinians were killed when troops opened fire on a crowd heading to a site run by the Israeli-backed American contractor Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, or GHF, in the Netzarim corridor area. It occurred hundreds of meters away from the site, the eyewitnesses said.
"The gunfire was indiscriminate," Mohammed Abed, a father of two from the Bureij refugee camp, said, adding that while many fled some people fell to the ground after being shot.
Abed and Aymed Sayyad, another aid seeker among the crowd, said troops opened fire when a group near the front of the crowd pushed forward toward a distribution site before its scheduled opening.
Sayyad said he and others helped two people who were maimed by gunshots, one in his shoulder and the other in his leg.
The Israeli military and the GHF did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
According to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry, more than 2,000 Paleostinians have been killed and more than 13,500 maimed while seeking aid at distribution points or along aid convoys. The ministry added that malnutrition-related deaths rose by eight to 289 on Sunday.

Law enforcement officers in Tel Aviv on Sunday arrested several Paleostinians in connection to an alleged terror attack plot, after an hourslong manhunt.
Police said two suspects, from the Nablus area, were caught in a joint operation with the Shin Bet secret service, and were transferred for interrogation.
Some Hebrew media outlets reported that additional Paleostinians tied to the terror plot were detained, though there was no official confirmation.
The arrests were carried out in northern Tel Aviv.
Reports said the Shin Bet sent out an alert earlier Sunday regarding the planned attack, leading to the extended chase for the suspects, who entered Israel illegally.
Earlier this month, a Paleostinian man from Tulkarem was arrested in the central district city of Ra’anana, also after an extended manhunt, on suspicion that he was planning a terror attack.
Since October 7, 2023, 53 people, including Israeli security personnel, have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another eight members of the security forces were killed in festivities with terror operatives in the West Bank.
