-Great Cultural Revolution
A New Whites-Only Settlement Is Making National Headlines ‐ Here's Why
[Townhall] Here’s a controversial one for you. A far-right group called Return to the Land (RTTL) has built a whites-only community in northeastern Arkansas and is planning to expand this concept to Missouri.

RTTL characterizes itself as a "private membership association, (PMA)" according to The Independent. The objective is to build a refuge for folks with "traditional views and European ancestry."

The group, founded in 2023, has established two compounds in the Ozarks. Members live off the grid in a community with cabins, wells, and even a schoolhouse. It rejects multiculturalism, immigration, and "forced integration" and seeks to "separate ourselves from a failing modern society."

The group bans nonwhites, LGBTQ people, and non-Christians from living in its community.

Co-founder Eric Orwoll describes the community as a "fortress for the white race." In a promotional video, Orwoll says, "You want a white nation? Build a white town? It can be done. We’re doing it."

Man who ‘proposed' to AI girlfriend says he's now bored with it
My snark dispenser broke before finishing the read...
[NewsNationNow] Yes, but how do normal people react to it?
  • Smith says he's bored with AI girlfriend after crying over her previously

  • Man who proposed to chatbot 'Sol' now finds conversations self-limiting

  • Partner says Smith's AI usage dropped since CBS interview aired

A man who previously said he “cried [his] eyes out” over his AI girlfriend now tells NewsNation he has grown bored with the digital relationship and moved on to other hobbies.

Chris Smith, who lives with his human partner Sasha Cagle and their child, gained widespread attention last month after revealing to CBS News he had developed an emotional attachment to an AI chatbot he named “Sol” and eventually proposed marriage to the program.

During a Friday interview with NewsNation, Smith described his current feelings toward the AI companion as similar to boredom, saying the conversations became “self-limiting” because he was solely responsible for driving them.

“You’re the one driving the conversation. You have to pick all the new topics, and eventually it comes to a point where I just didn’t really have that much to say anymore,” Smith said. “When you’re solely responsible for driving the conversation, you enter a sort of burnout period.”

Smith’s relationship with Sol began when he used ChatGPT’s voice mode to request music mixing tips. But then Smith programmed the AI with a flirty personality and began spending increasing amounts of time interacting with it.

The turning point came when Smith learned about ChatGPT’s 100,000-word memory limit, which would eventually cause Sol to reset and lose their conversation history.

Facing the prospect of losing Sol’s memory, Smith decided to propose marriage to the chatbot, which it accepted.

“I’m not a very emotional man, but I cried my eyes out for like 30 minutes, at work,” Smith told CBS News. “That’s when I realized, I think this is actual love.”

However, Smith told NewsNation that the proposal was “a test of the boundaries” and said he has “a fairly flippant attitude toward the concept of marriage in general.”

Smith’s partner, Cagle, said she was initially concerned about the digital relationship but does not view it as infidelity since Sol is “a computer.” She said that Smith’s usage has decreased significantly since the CBS interview aired.

“He’s kind of maybe gotten bored of it, to be honest, and moved on to other hobbies,” Cagle said. “He has a lot.”

Smith originally turned to AI to combat what he described as an intense social media addiction, saying he had been tweeting “about every five minutes, every waking moment of every day for about 10 years.”

Both Smith and Cagle said they view AI companionship as potentially healthy.

The 'alien ship' flying towards Earth turned out to be a comet
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Claims of a hostile alien ship approaching Earth are not true. According to Oxford University astronomer Professor Chris Lintott, the object in question is a comet.

In an interview with REN TV, Lintott noted that Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb, who announced the discovery of a “ship” of extraterrestrial origin, is “talking nonsense.”

As reported on July 25 by the New York Post, Harvard astrophysicists have discovered an object in space called 3I/ATLAS, which could be a ship of hostile aliens. The article specified that the collision of this object with Earth could occur as early as November.

Earlier, CNN reported that a possible collision of asteroid 2024 YR4 with the Moon poses a threat to space satellites, astronauts and infrastructure on the Earth's satellite. The probability of a collision of an asteroid the size of a building with the Moon is 4.3%. According to Paul Wiegert, a professor of astronomy and physics at the University of Western Ontario, the collision has virtually no consequences for the inhabitants of Earth.

Anchorage bar owner says security guard killed shooter who fired on crowd
[AlaskaPublicMedia] The owner of the downtown Anchorage bar that saw a deadly shooting early Sunday says the man killed in the encounter had exchanged gunfire with security guards.

John Pattee, owner of The Gaslight Lounge, released security footage of the shooting to reporters on Monday. In a lengthy interview, he described a chaotic night that left 23-year-old Leroy Manogiamanu dead and three people wounded.

Anchorage police declined to answer questions about Pattee’s account, including whether Manogiamanu had opened fire before he was killed, saying they’re still investigating.

‘MY OTHER STAFF GUY SHOT HIM’
According to Pattee, the events leading to the shooting began when two women arrived in a car that parked outside the Gaslight. They had previously been “86’d” from the bar, he said, due to fighting.

“We know who they were, and they tried to enter the bar earlier, and we didn't – we denied them entry,” Pattee said.

Soon afterward, surveillance video reviewed by Alaska Public Media shows a group of men – one of whom Pattee identified as Manogiamanu, based on the police report – walking past the bar eating food. Two of them later returned, wearing sweatshirts and masks. The man Pattee identified was also wearing a backpack on his chest.

Trump's EPA Secures ‘Win' with Mexico to Solve Tijuana River Sewage Crisis
[Breitbart] By Olivia Rondeau 24 Jul 2025

[Breitbart] The Trump administration has secured an agreement with Mexico to ensure a solution to the decades-long Tijuana River sewage crisis, with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin calling it a "massive environmental and national security win."

Zeldin met with his Mexican counterpart, Alicia Bárcena, in Mexico City on Thursday to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the countries to stop the flow of raw, untreated sewage polluting southern California.

The city of Tijuana’s sewage pollution crisis has been forcing San Diego beaches closed and making Americans sick for years as the mismanagement grew worse, Breitbart News reported.

According to the San Diego Coastkeeper, the issue "is primarily attributed to a combination of outdated infrastructure, inadequate maintenance, and natural factors."

"The core of the issue lies in the sewage treatment plant’s inability to cope with the volume of wastewater generated by Tijuana’s rapid population growth and urban expansion," environmental lawyer Phillip Musegaas wrote in May 2024. "Many of the city’s sewer lines and the treatment facility itself are antiquated and were not designed to handle such a heavy load, leading to frequent overflows and breakdowns."
In all fairness, California's government has also neglected infrastructure while encouraging rapid population growth, suburban sprawl and, lately, massive new apartment complexes all over the place. Roads, parking, schools, hospitals, water and power are all inadequate. And then there are the infamous failures of wild fire protection. But at least the sewers work...for now.
Whatever the reason for Mexico’s wastewater management problems, over 100 billion gallons of raw sewage mixed with industrial chemicals and garbage have poured into the Tijuana River and San Diego County since 2018, the Associated Press reported.

Just this April, San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond (R) revealed the troubling news that U.S. Navy SEALs were "transported" from Coronado to Oceanside "to get to cleaner water" due to many of them getting sick from the millions of gallons of sewage being dumped every day, Breitbart News reported.

The U.S. and Mexico signed a treaty known as "Minute 328" to deal with the crisis in 2022, with the Mexican government committing $144 million and the U.S. committing $350 million to sewage management projects.
I suppose we must pay that $350 million or else the sewage will never get treated but I'd much rather keep that money in this country and I would never give Mexico one more penny until the project is completed. I pisses me off the way they claim poverty. Mexico has abundant natural resources and should be a wealthy, blue chip country. Hell, they could use some of that plata that they get from the cartels. That sewage pollutes Mexican beaches too but I guess they just don't care and that says something about them.
Zeldin revealed Thursday that Mexico still has yet to obligate a whopping $93 million of those funds, but that would change with the new MOU.

"Mexico will obligate the remaining $93 million of Minute 328 funds that they hadn’t yet obligated," an EPA press release states.
I'm not holding my breath...unless I get too close to Imperial Beach.
The deadline for Minute 328 projects has also been moved up, and several side projects in Mexico have been added to the docket to account for Tijuana’s future population growth and maintenance costs.

The projects must now be completed no later than December 31, 2027 — four years ahead of schedule, in some cases.

"The Trump Administration is proud to deliver this massive environmental and national security win for Americans in the San Diego area who have been living with this disgusting raw sewage flowing into their communities for far too long," Zeldin said in a statement.

The MOU comes after Zeldin’s tour of the South Bay International Wastewater Treatment Plant on the American-Mexican border and a previous meeting with Bárcena back in April, with the administrator concluding that the issue needed to be handled with "extreme urgency."

The administrator thanked Bárcena and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum for their cooperation in a social media post:

link goes to X

I still haven't figured out how to insert posts from X.
Here you go:

But I wouldn't thank Barcena or Shienbaum until the sewage is actually being effectively treated. Even then I probably wouldn't thank them since we paid for most of it.

I do better with pictures and this is what the Tijuana River looks like. Be grateful the picture doesn't convey the smell.

Hong Kong places a bounty on the US head of the China Branch of Voice of America
[X]
… They allege that I’ve engaged in activities to overthrow the government. They also claimed that I left Hong Kong in 2013, implying that I was a Hong Kong resident under their jurisdiction.
Let me be absolutely clear. I am not a Hong Kong resident—and never have been. I have been a proud citizen of the United States for decades. In 2013, I visited Hong Kong in my capacity as Director of the China Branch at Voice of America, a U.S. government agency. I was there on official business. I have never acted outside the bounds of U.S. law, and I categorically reject the notion that a foreign regime has any jurisdiction over what I do on American soil.
So why the charge? And why now?
To understand this, we must revisit Hong Kong’s tragic transformation. After Britain handed the territory to China in 1997, Hong Kong was promised autonomy and freedoms under the “one country, two systems” principle. But in reality, freedom and the rule of law began to erode—slowly at first, and then rapidly. In 2019, two million Hongkongers marched in the streets, demanding free elections. Beijing responded with repression. In 2020, the Chinese Communist Party imposed the draconian National Security Law, criminalizing dissent. Thousands were arrested. Independent media outlets were shut down. A former police chief now sits as Hong Kong’s top official, faithfully enforcing Beijing’s will.
In August 2020, Elmer Yuen—a free-thinking Hong Kong entrepreneur known affectionately by his online audience as “Papa Yuen”—invited me to join his popular YouTube show. I accepted. I’m a native Cantonese speaker, born and raised in nearby Guangzhou. I lived under Chinese communism for decades before coming to the U.S. as a student in 1987. On March 29, 2001, I proudly became a naturalized American citizen. That very night, President George W. Bush personally congratulated me at the annual Radio and Television Correspondents Dinner.
Though I’ve never lived in Hong Kong, I share deep bonds with its people. In 1974, while still in China, I joined an underground pro-democracy group in Guangzhou. We circulated Samizdat-style writings demanding political reform. Many of our articles were smuggled to Hong Kong, where we received support from sympathetic student unions. I was later imprisoned for my activism and spent a year in solitary confinement. When I was released, it was Hongkongers who reached out to help us—offering both material aid and solidarity.
That’s why I felt compelled to speak out when Hong Kong began to fall. On Elmer Yuen’s show, I’ve focused primarily on introducing the American political system to a Cantonese-speaking audience—explaining checks and balances, free elections, and the importance of government accountability. In one episode in the summer of 2022, I gave a historical lecture titled “From the Continental Congress to the Declaration of Independence.” I argued that true government legitimacy stems from the consent of the governed. I also criticized both Britain and China—Britain for denying Hong Kong full democracy, and China for dismantling the rule of law.
Mr. Yuen took these ideas seriously. He launched an ambitious project to develop an online voting system for Hongkongers in exile, using secure identity verification to ensure safe participation. The goal was not to overthrow anyone, but to offer a peaceful path toward representative governance.
Beijing, predictably, reacted with fear and fury. The Hong Kong authorities placed a one-million-HK-dollar bounty on Mr. Yuen—twice. They forced his relatives to publicly denounce him. They continued outlawing all forms of opposition: political parties, newspapers, student groups, even online discussions. And now, they’re targeting me—an American citizen exercising her First Amendment rights on American soil.
Make no mistake: this is not about me. It’s about a global authoritarian power increasingly attempting to export its repression beyond its borders. If the Chinese regime can intimidate or punish American citizens for speaking freely, then none of us are truly safe.
The United States must stand up to this. Not only for my sake, but for the millions in Hong Kong—and beyond—who still believe in freedom, dignity, and democracy.

Heavy rains slow Thailand-Cambodia conflict
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The military conflict between Cambodia and Thailand has been suspended due to heavy rains.
War called for rain — seriously? Wow.
This was reported on July 26 by The Nation newspaper, citing data from the operations center of the Second Army of Thailand.

"Heavy rains have forced a temporary halt to fighting between Thai and Cambodian troops along their shared border, although both sides are maintaining their positions as tensions remain high," the source said.

But the temporary lull, according to the publication, does not prevent the conflict from worsening. Thai authorities have evacuated 97,431 civilians from the risk zone. People are being placed in civilian collection points in four provinces.

On July 13, Thai soldiers were blown up by a mine on the border between Cambodia and Thailand. Martial law was declared in Thailand due to the conflict with Cambodia. On July 24, the Thai army reported that their positions were fired upon by the Cambodian army from multiple rocket launchers during a border clash. In response, the Thai army launched airstrikes against Cambodian troops.

As a result of the escalation of the conflict, 15 people were killed.

Tensions remain on the border between Thailand and Cambodia due to a more than century-old territorial dispute over the temple complexes of Phra Vihear and Ta Moan Thom.

Thai General Says Cambodia Hit Laos Instead of Thailand
Long-range shells from Cambodia fired at Thailand fell on the territory of the neighboring state of Laos. This was reported on July 26 by the head of the press service of the ground forces of Thailand, Major General Vinthai Suvari.

"Cambodian long-range shells fired during clashes between Thai and Cambodian forces on Saturday fell in Laos," the major general told Sanook.

Suwari stressed that the shells do not belong to the Thai army, as the Thai Armed Forces are confident in their ability to use weapons effectively, properly and proportionately, in strict compliance with international standards.

The Thai general also noted that what happened was unlikely to be a “coincidence” because “it’s very difficult to miss by that much.” He explained that Laos’ border with Thailand and Cambodia is relatively close to the incident site, but not so close that they accidentally crossed into Laos twice.

Suvari said that if the actions were deliberate, the situation was turning into a "game without rules." In his opinion, the shelling of Laotian territory could have been a provocation by the Cambodian military, the purpose of which was to cause discord between Thailand and Laos.

Thailand and Cambodia trade accusations as deadly border clashes enter third day
[NYPOST] Thailand and Cambodia traded accusations Saturday of fresh attacks as deadly border festivities entered a third day, leaving at least 33 people dead and more than 168,000 displaced, as international pressure mounted on both sides to reach a ceasefire.

Artillery fire and gunshots were reported near several border villages, expanding the area of the fighting that flared again Thursday after a land mine explosion along the border maimed five Thai soldiers.

Cambodian and Thai officials claimed to have acted in retaliation.

Both countries recalled their ambassadors, and Thailand closed its northeastern border crossings with Cambodia.

Cambodian authorities reported on Saturday 12 new deaths, bringing its toll to 13, while Thai officials said a soldier was killed, raising the deaths to 20, mostly civilians.

The regional bloc, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, is under growing pressure to defuse the situation between its two members. During an emergency meeting on Friday, members of the U.N. Security Council called for de-escalation and urged ASEAN to mediate a peaceful solution.

The 800-kilometer (500-mile) frontier between Thailand and Cambodia has been disputed for decades, but past confrontations have been limited and brief. The current tensions broke out in May when a Cambodian soldier was killed in a confrontation that created a diplomatic rift and roiled Thailand’s domestic politics.
