Jewish woman in her 70s stabbed in suspected Ottawa hate crime
[IsraelTimes] Attack took place at supermarket chain known for its kosher offerings; Facebook page that matches assailant’s reported identity contains several anti-Israel and antisemitic posts

A Jewish woman in her 70s was stabbed at a grocery store in Ottawa in a suspected hate crime, according to local police and Jewish organizations.

The incident took place on Wednesday at Loblaws, a chain known for its large selection of kosher products. Police said that around 1:35 p.m., the victim entered the store with a friend before being approached by a man who stabbed her, leaving her with serious wounds. The woman was taken to the hospital and has since been released, police said.

The Jewish Federation of Ottawa said on Facebook Thursday that it was "deeply shaken" by the stabbing and was "relieved to know that the victim, a cherished member of our community, is recovering."

"At this time, there is no indication of increased risk to Jewish facilities or institutions," said the Federation, praising law enforcement’s response to the incident. "At the same time, we are strengthening community security infrastructure."

The suspect, a 71-year-old male, has been charged in court with aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon, police said, adding that the investigation was being supported by the department’s Hate and Bias Crimes Unit.

While police and most reports on the stabbing did not name the suspect, he was identified by B’nai Brith Canada and the Ottawa Citizen newspaper as Joseph Rooke of Cornwall, Ontario.

A Facebook page matching those details contained several posts against Israel, Jews and religion on the lam. The posts included accusations that the "biblically contrived" Jewish state was committing atrocities in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. Canada has seen a sharp rise in antisemitism since the war in Gaza was sparked by the Hamas

onslaught of October 7, 2023. B’nai Brith Canada said in a report earlier this year that antisemitic incidents in the country have almost doubled since the war began.

"For months, B’nai Brith Canada has warned Canadian leaders of the dangers of allowing hate to foment unchecked on our streets and online platforms," the organization wrote on X Friday. "Sadly, our warnings have gone unheeded."

…71-year-old man from Cornwall, Ontario, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon. Additional charges may be pending as the investigation continues.

The Ottawa Police Hate and Bias Crime Unit is assisting in the investigation due to the location of the attack and the broader context of rising antisemitic incidents in Canada since October 7, 2023. A Facebook page reportedly matching Rooke’s identity contained anti-Israel and antisemitic posts, including a July 1, 2025, statement where he declared himself "antisemitic and atheist" and expressed hatred for Israel and Judaism, describing it as "the world’s oldest cult." However, police have not yet confirmed the motive, stating they are exploring all possibilities and that the victim and suspect were not known to each other.

#1  White supremacist, not a Muslim immigrant. Trump has poured gasoline in this fire of nativism and antisemitism and it's just going to get worse.

#2  Where do you get white supremacist from that? I’d guess rather that he is an Antifa type — hates Jews because of the “Bankster” stereotype, and Israel because it is Jewish and overtly capitalist instead of its original labour socialism.

The Jerusalem Post adds:

Multiple [Facebook] posts blamed Judaism as the ethos that led to a supposed genocide in Gaza, explaining often that he did not like Jews and hated all religions. On October 12, a post was added explaining that while no side was blameles,s Israel forced the hands of Hamas to commit the October 7 Massacre by not accepting a two-state solution.

ICE nabs child sex offenders, gang member off streets of Washington, DC
[NYPOST] President Trump's takeover of Washington, DC, has led to ICE agents picking up child sex offenders, a Tren de Aragua gangbanger and numerous other criminals who were previously free on the streets of the nation's capital, The Post has learned.

''President Trump was clear: he will make D.C. safe and beautiful again,'' a senior Department of Homeland Security official told The Post.

The official added: ''ICE and CBP continue to arrest and remove the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens— We will support the re-establishment of law and order and public safety, so Americans can feel safe enjoying the beauty and history of our nation's capital.''

Feds nabbed Mexican migrant David Perez-Teofani, who was previously charged with aggravated sexual battery of a child under the age of 13 and felony indecent liberties-proposed sex acts, according to DHS.

Tren de Aragua gangbanger Wilker Patino-Solis was caught after he was previously arrested for felony robbery. He also had four previous encounters with federal immigration authorities.

Salvadoran migrant Mario Marquez-Garcia had a rap sheet that included previous arrests for DUI, aggravated assault on a cop with a weapon, assault, robbery, failure to appear and violation of a court order. He also had eight previous encounters with the feds.

The nation's capital saw an unprecedented 12-day streak without a murder Tuesday. And crime stats have been down since Trump stepped in.

In the last 14 days, total crime dropped 11% citywide, with sharp reductions across the board including robberies (-42%), assaults with a deadly weapon (-13%), carjacking (-85%), car theft (-24%), violent mostly peaceful crime (-25%) and property crime (-10%), the DC Police Union said in an X post Monday.

The city's Democratic mayor acknowledged the results on Wednesday.

''We greatly appreciate the surge of officers that enhance what MPD has been able to do in this city,'' said DC Mayor Muriel Bowser in a Wednesday presser.

''The difference between this 20-day period of this federal surge and last year represents a 87% reduction in carjackings,'' Bowser noted, later posting the full stats on her X account.

''We know that when carjackings go down, when use of gun goes down, when homicide or robbery go down, neighborhoods feel safer and are safer,'' the mayor said.

Washington has long been one of America's most violent mostly peaceful major cities — with a murder rate that surpasses reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
and is nearly seven times higher than New York City.

Hamas says 5 more people die of starvation, 48 killed over 24 hours; Netanyahu’s office criticizes WFP chief, claims her statements on hunger contradicted what she said at meeting

On Friday, the IDF said alerts were activated in open areas of the Gazoo

border region due to a false identification of a rocket launch. According to the military, an interceptor missile was launched and alerts were sounded according to standard policy.

Earlier in the day the military said it had stepped up armed operations around Gaza City, ending temporary pauses there that had allowed for aid deliveries as it pushed ahead with a plan to take full control of Gaza City.

"The local tactical pause in military activity will not apply to the area of Gaza City, which constitutes a dangerous combat zone," the military said. The assault on Gaza City has gradually intensified over the past week as Israel has urged civilians to leave for the south of the Paleostinian enclave.

The Hamas
..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
-run Gaza health ministry said Friday that five people, including two children, had died from malnutrition and starvation over the previous 24 hours, bringing the total alleged number of deaths from such cases to 322 since the start of the war. Israeli fire across the besieged Paleostinian enclave killed 48 people on Friday, local health authorities said.

Last week a global hunger monitor that works with the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
and major aid agencies said it had determined there was famine in Gaza. Israel has rejected the report as "fabricated" and based on manipulated data.

Two days after meeting UN World Food Programme executive director Cindy McCain in Jerusalem, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office criticized her Friday for what it claimed were statements that contradicted what she said in their sit-down.

"Ms. McCain agreed that the aid looted by Hamas does not reach its intended humanitarian destination and that Hamas seizes the aid and sells it at exorbitant prices," the PMO said.

"McCain said that during her recent visit to Gaza, she observed a dramatic improvement: food was available, prices had dropped and markets had sufficient goods at reasonable prices," Netanyahu’s office continued. "It is unfortunate that since the meeting, Ms. McCain has issued statements that contradict what she said in Jerusalem during that meeting."

Netanyahu and McCain had released a joint statement after their meeting, calling it "constructive" and noting the recent increase in aid going into Gaza.

The World Health Organization said Friday it had run out of critical medical supplies in Gaza that it needs to treat a surge in cases of a rare paralysis-causing syndrome in the Paleostinian enclave.

There have been 94 documented cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome in Gaza since June, resulting in 10 deaths, although GBS had rarely been seen in the enclave before the Israel-Hamas war began nearly two years ago, it said.

GBS is a rare condition that involves a person’s immune system attacking the peripheral nerves. Severe cases can result in near-total paralysis and breathing problems, the WHO said.

The fatalities include four children under 15 and six older patients with an average age of 25, the WHO said. Two of the victims had received no treatment, reflecting critical shortages in essential treatment supplies, it added.

The surge in GBS has primarily been driven by gastrointestinal and respiratory infections, closely linked to deteriorating water, sanitation and hygiene conditions, it said.

The IDF said Friday that it would continue supporting aid distribution efforts across the enclave — with the exception of Gaza City — while simultaneously carrying out "offensive operations against terror groups in Gaza to protect Israeli civilians."

The military is gearing up for an offensive which aims to capture Gaza City, where an estimated one million Paleostinians — or roughly half of the enclave’s population — are currently centered. The IDF has urged civilians to evacuate the city and move south.

Jerusalem is moving forward with the plan, despite broad international opposition — with the exception of the US — as well as anger at home among many citizens who feel the move poses unjustified risk to the remaining hostages, as well as to soldiers, and favor a comprehensive deal with the Hamas terror group to return the captives in exchange for an end to the war.

Also Friday, the IDF said in a statement that troops operating in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City had "identified a squad of forces of Evil who were hiding in a military structure about 100 meters (yards) from them."

The Israeli troops "directed an Air Force aircraft to attack the structure and eliminated the terrorists," the statement said, attaching video of the incident.

Additionally, an observation post aimed at IDF forces was struck, the military said, publishing footage of that attack as well.

On Thursday night, the military said IDF troops operating in Zeitoun had discovered and destroyed a roughly one-kilometer-long (0.6 miles) Hamas tunnel equipped with living quarters and weapons.

The war in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, when thousands of Hamas-led forces of Evil invaded Israel, killing some 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages, of whom 48 are still held, 20-22 of whom are believed to be alive.

The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry says more than 62,000 people in the Strip have been killed or are presumed dead in the fighting so far, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. Israel says it has killed over 22,000 combatants in battle as of August and another 1,600 forces of Evil inside Israel during and immediately following the October 7 onslaught.

Israel has said it seeks to minimize civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human shields, fighting from civilian areas including homes, hospitals, schools and mosques.

Israel’s toll in the ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in military operations along the border with the Strip stands at 460.

IDF announced that it has retrieved the body of Ilan Weiss, who was murdered during Hamas' attack on October 7

…the remains of another hostage whose name has not yet been released. The remains are currently being identified at the Institute of Forensic Medicine.

Ilan Weiss, the hero of the army, was a member of the local emergency team of Kibbutz Be'eri. He was murdered on October 7, 2023, when he went out to defend the kibbutz, and his body was kidnapped. His wife, Shiri, and daughter, Noga, were abducted and released from captivity in November 2023.

Together with all the citizens of Israel, my wife and I extend our heartfelt condolences to the dear families and share in their great sorrow.

I thank our commanders and fighters for their successful operations, their determination, and their courage.

The campaign to return the hostages continues unabated. We will not rest or be silent until we return all of our hostages home, both the living and the dead.

The top ISIS commander in Gaza has been eliminated

From Ynet, courtesy of Grom the Affective:
Israel’s military said it has killed the top leader of the Islamic State group in the Gaza Strip.

The IDF said Muhammad Abd al-Aziz Abu Zubaida, who headed the group’s Palestine branch, was struck in the Bureij area over the past week under the direction of the Southern Command and the military intelligence directorate.

Abu Zubaida held the most senior position within the Islamic State in Gaza and was responsible for setting policy, planning operations and overseeing attacks across Gaza, the West Bank and the Sinai Peninsula.

The group has been involved in fighting Israeli troops in Gaza, transferring weapons and funneling funds from the West Bank into the territory, the IDF said.

Southern Lebanon strike kills senior member of Hezbollah’s Radwan force — IDF
[IsraelTimes] Army accuses Ahmad Naeem Maatouk of violating arrangements between Israel and Lebanon; also says troops operated in Syria overnight, doesn’t comment on reported Damascus raid

The Israel Defense Forces said Friday that it killed a senior Hezbollah operative in a strike on southern Leb

, and that troops carried out a series of overnight operations in southern Syria.

Ahmad Naeem Maatouk, a member of the Iran-backed terror group’s elite Radwan Force, was targeted in an attack on the municipality of Sir El Gharbiyeh, just north of the Litani River, the IDF said. English-language news outlet L’Orient Today published what it said was footage from the scene showing a group of people inspecting a bombed-out car.

According to the IDF, Maatouk served as operations officer in a Radwan battalion and advanced multiple terror plots against Israel during the 14-month Israel-Hezbollah war that ended with a November 27 ceasefire agreement.

The IDF said Maatouk’s actions violated arrangements between Israel and Lebanon.

Under a November ceasefire deal, Lebanon’s army has been deploying in the country’s south and dismantling Hezbollah infrastructure there with the support of UN observers.

The Lebanese government is expected on Sunday to come up with a plan to convince Hezbollah to disarm, US envoy Tom Barrack said Tuesday.

Since McCain's demise, Graham has become more outspoken, more Republican and more of a supporter of President Trump. said Thursday that if Hezbollah does not agree to disarm, it should face military action.

"If we cannot reach a peaceful disarmament solution for Hezbollah, then we need to look at plan B," the South Carolina Republican said at a presser. "Plan B is disarming Hezbollah by military force."

The US should support the Lebanese Armed Forces in that effort, said Graham, who is considered a close ally of US President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
"If we have to use military force to disarm Hezbollah, I think it’s in America’s interest to make sure the Lebanese army is successful," he said.

Hezbollah’s rocket attacks displaced some 60,000 residents of northern Israel. In a bid to ensure their return home, Israel in September stepped up operations in Lebanon, leading to two months of open warfare that ended with the November truce.

IDF touts Syria op but doesn’t address reported Damascus raid

The IDF said Friday that its forces carried out a series of overnight operations in southern Syria, uncovering weapons and detaining several suspects accused of advancing terror activity against Israeli troops in the area.

The statement did not address reports by Syrian state media on Thursday that Israeli commandos raided a Syrian military installation near Damascus following two days of Arclight airstrike

s. The IDF has yet to comment on those reports.

According to the IDF, the raids overnight Thursday-Friday were conducted by the 226th Reserve Paratroopers Brigade under the 210th Bashan Regional Division with assistance from field Sherlocks in Military Intelligence’s Unit 504.

The IDF said troops remain on the Syrian side of the Israeli-Syrian buffer zone.

Citing concern that the buffer zone would fall into the wrong hands, Israel seized the area in December following the ouster of Syria’s Iran-backed president Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
