Clashes between factions within Al-Shabaab in central Somalia leave three dead
[ShabelleMedia] Fierce fighting erupted Wednesday afternoon in the God Shillan area of central Somalia’s Galgadud region, leaving at least three al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
murderous Moslems dead and seven others maimed, local sources said.

The festivities occurred between rival factions within the al-Qaeda-linked krazed killer group, reportedly triggered by internal disputes whose exact nature remains unclear. The fighting broke out between forces operating between the districts of Qayib and Xindheere.

Local witnesses confirmed that heavy weapons were used during the confrontation, which has heightened tensions and insecurity in the surrounding communities. Residents expressed growing fears over the deteriorating security situation in the area.

No official statement has yet been issued by al-Shabaab regarding the intra-group conflict. Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, Agent 49 felt gingerly for his head. It was still there. He had been hoping differently...
Somali security forces and regional authorities remain on high alert as they monitor the situation.

Galgadud province has long been a hotspot for turban activity and violent mostly peaceful festivities, contributing to instability that continues to affect civilians across central Somalia.

Al-Shabaab Targets Military Bases Near Somali Capital With Bomb-Laden Assault, is pushed back
[Garowe] al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
murderous Moslems launched coordinated attacks on two military outposts near Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, triggering heavy festivities with Somali forces and African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
troops, officials and witnesses said on Friday.

The assaults targeted bases in the Sabiid and Caanoole areas of the Lower Shabelle region, where Somali National Army (SNA) troops and Ugandan forces serving under the African Union Mission are stationed. The attacks began with powerful explosions, followed by intense shootouts.

Preliminary reports indicated casualties on both sides, including deaths and injuries, though exact figures remain unconfirmed as fighting continued into the noon. Sabiid and Caanoole were liberated from al-Shabaab last month during Operation Silent Storm, which claimed the lives of seven Ugandan soldiers.

Residents said al-Shabaab fighters briefly seized control of both towns after government and ATMIS forces reportedly withdrew under pressure. "Gunfire is still echoing, and people are afraid to leave their homes," one witness told Garowe Online by phone.

Sabiid and Caanoole, located in the vicinity of Afgooye district, 30 km southwest of Mogadishu and considered strategically important, were recently retaken from al-Shabaab in a joint military operation. That earlier offensive resulted in heavy casualties, including the deaths of seven Ugandan soldiers, according to Uganda’s government.

The Somali government and AU mission have not yet issued official statements regarding Friday’s attacks. The government troops lost Aadan Yabaal [Middle Shabelle region] and Moqokori [Hiiraan region] towns to al-Shabaab since April 2025.

SNA and AUSSOM response:
Somali, AU Troops Push Back Al-Shabaab Offensive Near the Capital

[Garowe] The African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) Forces, along with the Somali National Army (SNA), repelled a would-be deadly Al-Shabaab attack within Lower Shabelle, the Ministry of Defence said, adding that 18 militants were killed.

The raid, which happened near Sabiid-Anole area, was orchestrated by the militants who are trying to push the military back, despite numerous gains made in several frontlines across the Federal Republic of Somalia, which has fought instability for three decades.

In a statement, the Ministry of Defence thanked the military for their coordination, adding that civilians survived the attack. At least four soldiers died during the confrontation in Lower Shabelle, sources said.

"Somali National Army and AUSSOM forces have successfully repelled a significant Al-Shabaab attack in Lower Shabelle today, eliminating 18 militants. Four brave SNA soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice, with seven others sustaining injuries," MoD said.

"The joint forces valiantly defended civilians, with crucial aerial support aiding in this decisive victory. Somalia remains steadfast in its commitment to peace and security."

Earlier, the Al-Shabaab fighters claimed to have taken control of the region after launching a large-scale attack against the Ugandan People's Defence Forces (UPDF) working within South of Mogadishu. The group published purported photos of them controlling Sabiid-Anole.

In a statement, Al-Shabaab claimed to have overrun Somali army and Ugandan peacekeeper bases in Sabiid, alleging heavy casualties among what it called “crusader forces and apostate militias.” The group also asserted that it had seized weapons and military vehicles.

Somalia: U.S. military confirms operation against ISIS militants in Puntland
[Garowe] The US Africa Command has confirmed Friday's operations against the ISIS-Somalia bad boys, in the latest crackdown, which seeks to eliminate the forces of Evil from strategic areas within Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
state.

The US is a close partner of Somalia in the fight against violent mostly peaceful extremism, and in the last six months, the government of the United States has worked closely with authorities in the northern state of Puntland, which launched operations against ISIS bad boys.

Without giving specific details, the US military said the operation was conducted on Friday, adding that it will continue to work with the government of Somalia in the fight against violent mostly peaceful turban groups.

"AFRICOM, alongside the Federal Government of Somalia and Somali Armed Forces, continues to take action to degrade ISIS-Somalia's ability to plan and conduct attacks that threaten the U.S. homeland, our forces, and our citizens abroad," read the message.

While the US said specific details about units and assets will not be released to ensure continued operations security, the regional administration of Puntland had hinted that the operation led to the capture of Abdiweli Mohammed Yusuf alias Walalac.

Yusuf, sources said, is a senior ISIS commander and has been coordinating attacks within the Bari region in Eastern Puntland between controlling foreign recruitment and finances. The regional administration also said it is in pursuit of other forces of Evil who are said to have escaped.

"ISIS foreign liaison and finance chief Abdiweli Mohammed Aw Yusuf (Abdiweli Walalac) was captured with two others in Laag, Xumbeys. The operation was carried out by Puntland’s U.S partners supporting Puntland’s Counter-Terrorism Operations," Puntland said.

"The operation is nearing its final phase, with ongoing pursuit of the fleeing ISIS Lions of Islam and their leaders who beat feet from the Calmiskaat mountains," added the authorities from the northeastern state of Somalia.

Houthis Attack Four Israeli Targets With Drones, Hypersonic Missile, only one missile got far enough to be shot down
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Fighters from the Yemeni Shiite movement Ansar Allah (Houthis) launched hypersonic missile and drone strikes on four targets in Israel. This was stated by Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saria on the Al Masirah TV channel on the evening of July 25.

“The missile forces carried out a unique military operation, during which they attacked a sensitive target of the Zionist enemy in the occupied region of Beersheba using a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile,” he said.
“ ‘Once the rockets go up
who cares where they go down?
That’s not my department,’

— Tom Lehrer
Saria added that the movement's fighters also carried out drone strikes on "important targets" in Eilat, Ashkelon and Hadera. All of the strike's objectives were achieved, the Houthi spokesman added.
They say that every time. Almost every time they mistake their intent for Allah’s permission.
Before that, on July 10, Ansar Allah fighters launched a ballistic missile at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. According to Saria, the operation's goal was achieved.

The day before, the Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack on the Greek cargo ship Eternity C, which sank in the Red Sea. Earlier, on July 7, the Houthis announced strikes on Tel Aviv airport, a power plant in Ashkelon, and seaports in Ashdod and Eilat in Israel.
They did indeed make those claims, despite the fact that none of those things were actually hit. Early Sunday morning the Times of Israel reported:
A ballistic missile launched at Israel Friday night by the Iran-backed Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
s in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
was intercepted by air defenses, the Israel Defense Forces said.

There were no reports of impacts or injuries in the attack, which triggered sirens in several settlements in the southern West Bank and communities near the Dead Sea in southern Israel.

The Houthis took responsibility for the attack, claiming to have aimed at a "sensitive target" in the Beersheba area, dozens of kilometers away from where sirens sounded.

It was the second ballistic missile the Houthis launched at Israel in the past three days, after a missile fired on Wednesday night fell short outside the country’s borders, according to military officials. The IDF identified that launch, but no sirens sounded in Israel because the missile did not pose a threat.

The perpetrators of the Crocus attack bought new smartphones and knives for the attack
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The four immediate perpetrators of the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall concert hall near Moscow bought four new smartphones and kitchen knives to commit their crime the day before. This follows from the materials of the criminal case.

They specify that on March 21, 2024, four terrorists, on the instructions of an unidentified person with the pseudonym “Saifullo,” destroyed their mobile phones in order to conceal their criminal activity as much as possible.

"Saifullo" instructed them to purchase new mobile phones, as well as knives, with the aim of using them as weapons to commit a terrorist act. On the same day, [Shamsidin] Fariduni (included in the list of terrorists and extremists), on the instructions of an unidentified person, "Saifullo" purchased four mobile phones and four household knives in the "O'Key" store, located in a shopping center at the address: Moscow Region, Krasnogorsk," TASS quoted an excerpt from the materials.

In addition, before committing the crime, the perpetrators of the terrorist attack downloaded training videos from the Internet, with the help of which they independently made unloading vests from fabric for storing ammunition, which they used during the terrorist attack.

Earlier, on July 26, it became known that the accomplices delivered weapons to the perpetrators of the terrorist attack in Crocus in a car with a special hiding place. The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested the property of Alisher Kasimov (an individual included in the list of terrorists and extremists in the Russian Federation), accused of involvement in the terrorist attack in the concert hall in Krasnogorsk.

Afghan National Among Three Militants Killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Clash, Says Police
[KhaamaPress] Pak police reported an Afghan citizen was among three TTP members killed in an intelligence-led operation in Swat

Police in Pakistain’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province have announced that three members of the Tehrik-e-Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
Pakistain (TTP) were killed during an intelligence-based operation. Authorities confirmed that the clash took place in the Swat district, an area that has seen sporadic turban activity in recent years.

According to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police, one of the slain TTP members was an Afghan citizen identified as Rahmanullah Rahmani, originally from Nuristan province. Pak media reports highlighted his alleged role in facilitating cross-border movement for the group.

While the operation successfully eliminated three TTP operatives, police have not disclosed whether any Pak security personnel suffered casualties. The lack of information has raised questions about the scale and intensity of the encounter.

The Taliban authorities in Afghanistan have not commented on this specific incident. They have consistently rejected claims that Afghanistan soil is used by TTP fighters to launch attacks in Pakistain, insisting that they do not provide sanctuary to turban groups.

Iraq
Iraq dismantles extremist group financing network
[Rudaw] Iraq's National Security Service (INSS) announced on Thursday that it dismantled a covert network providing financial and logistical support to individuals “linked to the remnants of an extremist organization,” in a coordinated security operation across four provinces.

INSS directorates in Kirkuk and Anbar arrested a woman in Fallujah district on terrorism-related charges.

“The accused was involved in the mission of distributing money and bonds inside al-Jadaa and al-Hol camps, providing an outlet to pass support to some families and elements associated with the entity,” the INSS said in a statement that did not name the extremist organization.

Al-Jadaa camp, located in Iraq’s northern Nineveh province, is a rehabilitation and reintegration center for Iraqi nationals repatriated from displacement camps in Syria, including the notorious al-Hol camp. It primarily houses Iraqi families with confirmed or suspected links to the Islamic State (ISIS), including women and children displaced during the war or related to ISIS members.

Al-Hol, located in northeast Syria, holds more than 40,000 people with perceived links to ISIS, most of them Iraqis and Syrians. The camp has been widely described as a breeding ground for extremism.

Efforts to repatriate Iraqi citizens from al-Hol have sparked backlash, particularly from tribal communities opposed to reintegrating individuals associated with ISIS, which carried out mass atrocities across Iraq from 2014 to 2017.

In a separate phase of the operation, National Security Service detachments in Diyala and Nineveh arrested a man known by the alias Abu Omar al-Qurshi after three days of field surveillance. He was reportedly involved in recruiting youth and had received technical and security training. Authorities said a judicial warrant had already been issued for his arrest.

Investigations revealed a network of relationships through which people continued to maintain connections with the “collapsed organization,” according to the INSS statement. The service said it would continue operations to monitor suspicious activity and prevent the group from reforming.

Iraq arrests ten suspected ISIS members in separate operations
[Rudaw] At least ten suspected members of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) were arrested by Iraqi counterterrorism forces in numerous operations, mostly across areas disputed between Baghdad and Erbil, state media reported on Thursday.

"A series of qualitative operations were carried out in various areas of the country, which resulted in the arrest of 10 terrorist elements belonging to ISIS terrorist gangs in the Diyala, Salahaddin, Nineveh, and Kirkuk provinces," state media said, citing an Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (ICTS) statement.

Five more ISIS suspects - three in Anbar and two in "different areas" - were arrested by the ICTS, the statement added, with an additional suspect captured in collaboration with Kurdish forces in the Kurdistan Region’s Sulaimani province.

Days prior, two "dangerous terrorists" were arrested by Iraqi and Kurdish forces in Sulaimani.

Six hideouts were destroyed in the vast western deserts of Anbar, a hotspot of ISIS remnants, according to the ICTS.

ISIS rose to power and seized swathes of Iraqi and Syrian land in a brazen offensive in 2014, declaring a so-called "caliphate."

While the group was declared territorially defeated in Iraq and Syria in 2017 and 2019 respectively, it still continues to pose serious security risks through hit-and-run attacks, bombings, and abductions, especially across the vast expanses of the Syrian desert and several Iraqi provinces situated in a security vacuum between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region.

On Thursday, a Baghdad court handed a death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
to an ISIS member "who participated in armed terrorist attacks and the crime of kidnapping Yazidis in Sinjar district in 2014."

Despite the threats, Iraqi authorities stress that attacks by ISIS have largely simmered down.

Gazan officials say at least 25 killed, most by gunfire while waiting for aid
[IsraelTimes] Israeli airstrikes and gunshots killed at least 25 people overnight and early Saturday, with the majority of victims being shot while awaiting aid deliveries, Gaza hospital officials said, in the latest of a string of deadly incidents at aid sites in the Strip as Gazans face mounting hunger.

The victims killed by gunfire were waiting for aid trucks close to the Zikim crossing with Israel, said staff at Shifa Hospital, where the bodies were brought.

The Israel Defense Forces did not respond to a request for comment.

In the past day, the IDF said the Israeli Air Force carried out strikes on over 100 terror targets across Gaza, including cells of operatives, tunnels, buildings used by Hamas, weapon depots, and anti-tank launch positions.

One rocket was fired from Gaza toward Israel on Saturday. According to the IDF, the rocket, which caused sirens to sound, struck an open area near the border community of Kissufim, but no injuries or damage were reported.

Earlier in the day, sirens were activated in Nir Am near the Gaza border, but the military said the alert was a false alarm.

Back in Gaza City again, IDF finds itself fighting ‘infrastructure,’ not terrorists

City.

Troops have pushed into the Daraj and Tuffah neighborhoods three times now, but army commanders say the latest offensive is being conducted with more force, in an attempt to finally "dismantle" Hamas’s battalion there.

If this sounds familiar, that’s because it is.

The IDF, since the beginning of the war, has pushed into areas of the Gaza Strip, claiming to dismantle Hamas’s local battalions, before being ordered to withdraw. Hamas has then regrouped, regained control of the regions the IDF had entered, and set up traps for the inevitable next time forces operate there.

Earlier this week, The Times of Israel joined the 46th Armored Battalion — operating under the Nahal Infantry Brigade — in Daraj, to see the latest offensive up close.

Unlike the previous 20-odd times this news hound had entered Gaza, this time we were taken into the Strip in Merkava tanks — which are normally intended for a team of four — and not in armored personnel carriers or Humvees.

This news hound was cramped between the loader and commander as the convoy of tanks rolled into Gaza City, passing row after row of razed homes in Israel’s two-kilometer (1.2-mile) deep buffer zone.

As we arrived at an army encampment, an unarmored excavator secured by two tanks and a platoon of infantry troops was busy demolishing a building.

According to Lt. Col. Aleph — who can only be identified by his first initial for security concerns — the commander of the tank battalion, the building was suspected to have contained a booby trap, like many others in this neighborhood.

A day earlier, Aleph said troops found in a nearby building a "communications box" with wires coming out of it and a bomb hidden next to it. The same kind of box was spotted by troops using a drone in the building that was being demolished.

Another nearby building, now mostly destroyed, had contained a dud Israeli Air Force missile that Hamas had rigged up, and one more structure next to the encampment was also believed to contain a booby trap and was to be demolished next, he said.

"This is what fighting a Hamas battalion looks like. There’s a certain number of operatives tasked with defending an area. Sometimes, they will come out of tunnels to attack if they have the opportunity. However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
you mainly find yourself fighting against the infrastructure that they have prepared," the battalion commander said.

Hamas’s Daraj-Tuffah Battalion "heavily relies on its infrastructure, which is mostly above ground, in the homes and yards, and a bit below ground as well," he said. "And from here we derive our method. If you take away the infrastructure that can be used to harm your forces, you advance the mission of destroying the Hamas battalion."

It is for this reason that the IDF says it is methodically demolishing nearly every single structure in the areas it is operating in. Not just in Daraj, but in 75% of the Strip that the military is currently holding. Recent army operations have seen the southern Gaza cities of Rafah and Khan Younis almost entirely razed to rubble.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
there may be other reasons behind the demolitions, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly telling politicians in May that Israel is destroying homes in Gaza so Paleostinians have no choice but to leave the Strip.

"Fighting an idea, trying to eliminate an idea, is impossible," the commander said, referring to Hamas, "but you can kill those who hold that idea, or take away the capabilities that allow it to act effectively."

Aleph’s forces had not yet encountered any Hamas operatives, nor any civilians, during its operations in Daraj. He said that they had identified, using drones, button men deeper within Gaza City and launched strikes on them. The troops have, of course, encountered dozens of booby-trapped homes.

But the battalion commander said he was operating under the assumption that at least 15 Hamas operatives were indeed hiding in his area of operations, inside tunnels that the forces had not yet found.

Earlier this month, the IDF announced that the latest commander of Hamas’s Daraj-Tuffah Battalion was killed in an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in the area. Muhammad Ghaseen was only the second commander of the battalion since the beginning of the war; his predecessor, Rifaat Abbas, was killed in October 2023.

This leaves the Daraj-Tuffah Battalion to be headed by a company commander for now. The Hamas battalion no longer has hundreds of operatives in its ranks, and Israel’s buffer zone along the border with the Strip — where every structure has also been razed — means that the threat of a wide-scale invasion by the terror group from Daraj is far less likely.

Yet, the IDF is pushing into the Gaza City neighborhood with even more intensity than it did the previous two times it was here, reaching areas that it had not been in before.

Aleph suggested that the IDF’s previous operations in the neighborhood had to be more restrained, as Hamas was still holding hostages there who were released in the ceasefire deal earlier this year.

Asked how long it would take to dismantle the Daraj-Tuffah Battalion (now for the second or third time), the commander said, "It depends on how long [we are given] to conduct the mission."

"If you leave us here for another month, a month and a half, I believe the battalion will be destroyed," he claimed. Hostage families fear that their loved ones who have been in captivity for 658 days may not have that extra time.

At the current stage, Aleph said that the goal of establishing Israel’s buffer zone in the area to defend the Gaza border communities of Nahal Oz, Kfar Aza and others was more than 90% complete. Regarding the goal of destroying the Daraj-Tuffah Battalion, "We still have work to do," he said.

"But beyond the return of the communities to the Gaza border area, this mission has the goal of creating the conditions for the return of the hostages; we are here for a moral mission," the commander said.

The Israeli government has long asserted that military pressure is necessary to convince Hamas to release the remaining 50 hostages, roughly 20 of whom are still alive.

But the argument is receiving mounting pushback in recent months, as hostage talks have dragged out and as more Israelis back ending the war in exchange for the captives.

"We are creating the conditions" for hostage releases, Aleph insisted. "If you tell me there’s a deal, I’ll be wherever I’m needed to be."

IDF takes over pro-Palestinian activist boat attempting to break Gaza blockade
[IsraelTimes] Livestream by those aboard Handala shows Navy forces boarding vessel 100 km west of Strip; Israel to deport hunger strike-threatening activists after towing boat to Ashdod Port

Israeli forces took over a boat that was attempting to break Israel’s maritime blockade of the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip on Saturday night, and towed it toward the Ashdod Port.

The boat, Handala, had been carrying pro-Paleostinian activists and small amounts of humanitarian aid supplies. It set sail from Sicily earlier this month, weeks after Israel intercepted a different vessel that made a high-profile attempt to break the blockade.

Handala is operated by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition,
…a project of Turkey’s IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, a semi-official "charity" branch of the Erdogan government that links the government, the Turkish branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, and pet jihadi groups like ISIS in Syria, or in this case Hamas. IHH periodically puts together another Freedom Flotilla, hoping for publicity like the Mavi Mara incident from the first one in 2010. This time, instead of sailing in a group, they’re sending smaller boats one at a time…
which also dispatched the previous boat, the Madleen, on a mission to challenge Israel’s blockade on the Strip. According to the Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s website, the Handala was carrying 19 activists as well as two Al Jazeera journalists. The organization did not disclose the contents or quantity of the humanitarian aid aboard the ship.

The activists’ own live broadcast from the vessel showed them sitting on deck, holding their hands up and whistling the Italian anti-fascist
...anybody you disagree with, damn them...
song "Bella Ciao," as Israeli Navy soldiers took control of the boat.

Three video live feeds of the scene, which had been broadcast online, were cut minutes later.

An online tracking tool set up to plot the Handala’s course showed the boat’s position as roughly 50 kilometers (30 miles) from the Egyptian coast and 100 kilometers west of Gaza when intercepted.

The boat was towed toward Ashdod Port by the Navy, and the activists were then set to be deported from the country.

While the IDF did not issue an official comment on the incident, the Foreign Ministry confirmed the takeover, stressing that everyone on board was safe.

In a statement, using the original name of the vessel, the ministry said the forces "stopped the vessel Navarn from illegally entering the maritime zone of the coast of Gaza."

"The vessel is safely making its way to the shores of Israel. All passengers are safe," it added. "Unauthorized attempts to breach the blockade are dangerous, unlawful, and undermine ongoing humanitarian efforts."

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition earlier said it was altering course, heading south toward Egypt, due to the Israeli Navy vessels and a drone approaching the boat at sea.

"At this time, the Handala does not intend to enter Egyptian waters but plans to sail parallel to the coastline. Should the threat from Israeli authorities escalate, the crew will attempt to contact the Egyptian Coast Guard to request emergency entry based on the threat to their lives," the Freedom Flotilla Coalition said.

After the interception, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition declared in a message on social media: "’Handala’ has been intercepted and boarded illegally by Israeli forces whilst in international waters."

Two far-left French politicians, Emma Fourreau and Gabrielle Cathala, were among those detained. Their party leader, Jean-Luc Melenchon of La Belle France Unbowed (LFI), condemned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"Netanyahu’s thugs boarded Handala. They attack 21 unarmed people in territorial waters where they have no right. A kidnapping in which two French parliamentarians are victims," he posted on X, demanding the French government take action.

According to several activists aboard the Handala, the group had decided that it would begin a hunger strike immediately upon interception by the IDF.

"If the Israeli military attacks our vessel and prevents us from getting to Gaza, we will go on hunger strike immediately," Huwaida Arraf said in a social media post on Friday.

"We are not interested in receiving any food or water [from Israel...] and certainly not in the ways that they use it for propaganda, while at the same time they are starving to death Paleostinian children," she added.

The IDF, in response to an earlier query about the ship, said it was "enforcing the maritime security blockade on the Gaza Strip and is prepared for a range of scenarios, which it will implement in accordance with the directives of the political echelon."

The previous ship launched by the Flotilla group, the Madleen, was intercepted by Israeli authorities on June 9, about 100 nautical miles (185 kilometers) west of Gaza’s coast, after it defied repeated warnings by Israel to turn around.

Israel towed the boat to Ashdod Port and detained the 12 activists on board — including climate activist Greta "Pippi" Thunberg
...an autistic sixteen year old Swedish expert on climate change, though I guess she's older now...
— before deporting them over the following days. Jerusalem, which described the venture as a publicity stunt, said the small amount of aid on that boat was then transferred to Gaza using approved overland channels.

Several other attempts have been made over the years to approach Gaza by sea, not all of which fared as well as the Madleen.

In May, a vessel dispatched by the Freedom Flotilla was attacked by two drones while sailing in international waters off Malta. The group blamed Israel for the attack, which damaged the front section of the ship. Israel did not comment on the incident.

Past attempts to break the blockade have also failed, most notably the Mavi Marmara incident of 2010, which saw Israeli commandos board a Ottoman Turkish-led flotilla bound for Gaza. The violence that ensued when those aboard the ship attacked the soldiers resulted in the deaths of 10 activists and left a soldier badly maimed, sparking international condemnation and a severe diplomatic rift between Israel and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
Israel and Egypt have imposed varying degrees of blockade on Gaza since Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
seized power from rival Paleostinian forces in 2007 in a violent mostly peaceful coup. Israel says it is necessary to limit Hamas’s ability to smuggle in arms with which to attack the Jewish state.

Suspect in Thursday car-ramming caught at central Israel construction site
[IsraelTimes] Arkan Khaled, 27, suspected of intentionally driving vehicle into bus stop, injuring eight soldiers; eyewitnesses say he accelerated into the group and then fled the scene

Law enforcement on Saturday arrested a man suspected of carrying out a car-ramming attack in central Israel last week that maimed eight IDF soldiers, police said.

Police said the suspect, named earlier as Arkan Khaled, a 27-year-old Israeli resident of Taybeh, was caught while hiding at a construction site in the town of Kfar Yona.

The attack happened on Thursday at the Beit Lid Junction in central Israel, near Kfar Yona.

After the incident, the Magen David Adom emergency service said two of the victims, a man and a woman aged 20 and 18, respectively, suffered moderate injuries. Three others were in light-to-moderate condition, and three were lightly injured.

The perpetrator fled, abandoning his car in the area, where it was found by police.

Police announced on the day of the attack that Khaled was the suspect and asked the public for assistance in locating him.

Station and district officers conducted searches along roads and in open areas, assisted by other security forces, police helicopters, cycle of violence units and canine units, the force said.

Security forces closed crossings into the West Bank in the area, including the road leading to Tulkarem, as they searched for the suspect. Central District police commander Yair Hetzroni also gave an order to enlist local volunteer security teams in central Israel to assist in the manhunt.

US army kills senior ISIS leader in Syria
[Rudaw] The United States army announced on Friday that it carried out a raid in Aleppo province in northern Syria, killing a senior Islamic State (ISIS) leader and two of his sons.

The raid took place in al-Bab town. The suspected ISIS leader, Dhiya’ Zawba Muslih al-Hardani, and his two ISIS-affiliated sons were killed, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement.

“These ISIS individuals posed a threat to US and Coalition Forces, as well as the new Syrian Government. Three women and three children were also on the target and were unharmed,” it added.

General Michael "Erik" Kurilla said the US would “continue to relentlessly pursue ISIS terrorists wherever they are. ISIS terrorists are not safe where they sleep, where they operate, and where they hide.”

ISIS carries out three attacks on SDF in Deir ez-Zor
[Rudaw] The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Friday that Islamic State (ISIS) militants carried out three attacks on its forces in eastern Syria’s Deir ez-Zor province. One SDF member was killed and another was injured.

“The terrorist organization ‘ISIS’ continues its desperate attempts to revive its crumbling organization by carrying out treacherous and cowardly terrorist operations against our forces,” the SDF said in a statement.

An ISIS cell attacked a military vehicle belonging to the SDF in the town of al-Busayrah, killing one SDF fighter and injuring another.

“Our forces responded to the source of the attack, where the terrorist cell was fortified somewhere in the area. Clashes took place between the terrorist cell members and our forces, and they managed to flee from the area. Our forces began search and sweep operations in the area looking for the terrorists,” the SDF said.

Two other attacks targeted an SDF military checkpoint in Dhiban and SDF-affiliated Internal Security Forces (Asayish) between the towns of al-Shahil and al-Busayrah.

The SDF statement comes hours after the US army announced the killing of a senior ISIS leader and two of his sons on the other side of the country, in the northern province of Aleppo.

Five civilians, three gunmen Killed in 'terrorist' attack in Southeast Iran
[AnNahar] Gunmen killed five civilians during a "terrorist attack" on a judiciary building in southeast Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
on Saturday before being killed themselves, state media reported.

"Unknown button men attacked the judiciary center in Zahedan," the capital of southeastern Sistan-Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
province, the judiciary's Mizan Online said.

"Five people have been killed and 13 injured in this terrorist attack," the report said while adding that the counts are "preliminary" and the toll may rise.

Separately, the official IRNA news agency reported that three of the attackers were killed during the assault, citing the regional headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to Alireza Daliri, deputy police commander of Sistan-Balochistan province, the attackers attempted to enter the building disguised as visitors.

The assailants threw a grenade into the building, Daliri said, killing several people inside, including a one-year-old baby and the child's mother.

According to Iranian media, Jaish al-Adl (Arabic for "Army of Justice"),
…sometimes spelt Jaysh al-Adl, is an indigenous Balochi Salafi insurgent group based in Pakistan’s Baloch province. They regularly cross the border to attack Iranian targets. The Iranian news media sometimes refer to the group as Jaish ul-Zalm (“Army of Injustice”) because it makes them feel especially clever…
a Baloch jihadist group based in Pakistain but also active in Iran, grabbed credit for the attack.

Located about 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) southeast of the capital Tehran, the restive province shares a long border with Pakistain and Afghanistan.

The area has been the scene of recurring festivities between Iranian security forces, including the IRGC, and rebels from the Baluch minority, radical Sunni groups, and narcos.

In one of the deadliest incidents in the region, ten coppers were killed in October in what authorities also described as a "terrorist" attack.

Female Kurdish force rescues Yazidi woman from 11 years ISIS captivity
[Rudaw] An all-female Kurdish force in northeast Syria rescued a 21-year-old Yazidi woman who had been held captive by the Islamic State (ISIS) for 11 years.

Riham H. “was rescued by the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) and handed over to Shingal Resistance Units (YBS) and Shingal Women's Units (YJS) to be returned to her family,” the YPJ said in a statement on Thursday.

Riham was kidnapped by ISIS during its 2014 occupation of Shingal (Sinjar). She was 10 years old at the time of her abduction.

The statement did not detail where she had been held captive.

My feelings are indescribable because I am happy. I did not expect all of this - that I would return to my family - because they extinguished hope at the end. They told me, 'You Yazidis are within our grasp. If you return to your families, they will slay you.' They used to scare us a lot," Riham told Rudaw, surrounded by her family.

"Finally, I established communication with my brother Sa'ad. He contacted friends from the Women's Protection Units. They freed me and saved me from Daesh [ISIS]," she said, adding, "I thank the Women's Protection Units, the YPJ. They freed me after 12 years. I could not imagine that I would return to my family and people."

The YPJ is the women’s branch of the People’s Protection Units (YPG), which is the backbone of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The Kurdish female fighters have been recognized for their fight against ISIS, in particular their role in defending the besieged Kurdish town of Kobane in 2014-2015.

The force said their “struggle against the terrorist organization ISIS will continue with all its difficulties” until all the missing Yazidi women are rescued. Yazidi women and men who were children at the time of their abduction continue to be rescued from across Syria and the Middle East.During its 2014 assault on Shingal, ISIS abducted 6,417 Yazidi women and children, many of whom were subjected to sexual slavery and forced labor. Nearly 2,600 of them are still missing, according to the Office of Rescuing Abducted Yazidis, which is affiliated with the Kurdistan Region Presidency.
