ISIS Claims Three Attacks Killing 47 Puntland Security Force Soldiers
[ShabelleMedia] The Islamic State (ISIS) Somalia faction has claimed responsibility for three attacks against the Puntland Security Force (PSF) between July 16 and August 22, resulting in the deaths of 47 soldiers, according to statements released by the group.

The attacks targeted military positions in Puntland in northeastern Somalia. It comes as Puntland stated that its forces have made significant gains against the militants.

The PSF, responsible for security in the Bari region, has been engaged in ongoing operations against extremist groups, including ISIS and Al-Shabaab.

Puntland officials have yet to independently confirm the death toll claimed by ISIS.

The region has faced increased militant activity amid efforts to secure strategic areas, including the Cal-Miskaad mountains, where operations against ISIS militants have intensified.

The attacks underscore the continuing security challenges in Puntland, despite its reputation as one of Somalia’s more stable regions.

Somalia executes two Al-Shabaab members convicted of deadly attacks
[ShabelleMedia] Somali military authorities on Monday executed two members of the al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab

group who were convicted of carrying out deadly attacks, including assassinations in the central city of Galkayo.

The two men — Anas Abdulqadir Ali Mahmoud, also known as "Salmaan," and Aadan Mursal Mohammed Idow — were shot by firing squad after being sentenced to death by the Somali Military Court. The executions followed the completion of all levels of appeal, officials said.
"Aim low. Make it linger, and hurt"
The court found the pair guilty of orchestrating and executing multiple liquidations and ambush attacks targeting local elders and prominent community figures involved in peacebuilding efforts in the Mudug region.

Authorities said the convicts were members of an al-Shabaab unit specializing in bombings and hit-and-run operations in the central key region.

Investigations presented "clear evidence" of their direct involvement in attacks that caused "loss of life and property," according to the military court.

"The enforcement of this sentence is part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government and Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
administration to restore peace and uphold justice," the Somali Armed Forces Court said in a statement.

Military officials added that such executions send a "strong message" to Death Eater groups and anyone aiding terrorist activities in Somalia.

The military court noted that it has recently increased the enforcement of capital punishment against al-Shabaab operatives convicted of serious crimes, aiming to reinforce public confidence in the justice system and deter future attacks.

RSF killed at least 89 civilians in Sudan''s Darfur, U.N. says
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The U.N. human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
office on Friday said Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed at least 89 civilians in ''brutal attacks'' over a 10-day period in the besieged North Darfur city of El Fasher, with many victims apparently targeted for their ethnicity.

The spokesperson for the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, Jeremy Laurence, said the actual number of civilians killed in the city and the adjoining Abu Shouk camp was likely higher.

''This pattern of attacks on civilians and wilful killings, which are serious violations of international humanitarian law, deepens our concerns about ethnically motivated violence,'' Laurence said in a statement.

The U.N. documented that at least 32 non-combatants were killed between Aug. 16 and Aug. 20, following a previous attack on Aug. 11 that killed at least 57.

The agency said it was particularly horrified that 16 of the recent killings appeared to be summary executions. Most of those victims were from the African Zaghawa tribe, while another man was reportedly killed after telling his attackers he belonged to the African Berti tribe.

The U.N. also received reports that at least 40 internally displaced men were kidnapped on Aug. 16 and their whereabouts remain unknown.

The attacks have worsened a critical humanitarian situation in El Fasher, which has been under siege for more than a year, with a growing risk of famine in the region.

Laurence said aid delivery has also come under fire, citing an Aug. 20 incident where aerial strikes in Mellit, North Darfur hit a U.N. convoy of 16 trucks carrying food.

''Humanitarian assistance and workers are protected explicitly under international humanitarian law and must not be targeted,'' he said.

Sudan's RSF pushes into Abu Shouk camp as fierce fighting engulfs El Fasher - Sudan Tribune
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) pushed deeper into a vast displacement camp in El Fasher on Monday, three local sources said, as fierce fighting raged for control of the North Darfur capital amid conflicting claims of battlefield gains from both sides.

The advance was focused on the Abu Shouk camp, which is home to approximately 190,000 people. The sources told Sudan Tribune that the RSF now controls about half of the camp, having forcibly displaced residents, looted homes, and kidnapped around 30 people, including women and kiddies.

The escalating festivities in El Fasher, the historic capital of the Darfur region, are drawing closer to strategic army positions, including the city's airport and artillery headquarters.

An RSF field commander told Sudan Tribune his forces were advancing along three axes to capture the army's 6th Infantry Division headquarters in the city centre. He said that troops on a southern front were fighting near El Fasher International Airport, while another force was tasked with neutralizing the army's artillery command in the west.

The army's artillery has played a key role in repelling previous RSF assaults on the city.

However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
a front man for the joint force of gangs fighting alongside the army denied the RSF had made any significant progress.

''El Fasher is fine, and the army and the joint force are steadfast,'' front man Ahmed Hussein Mustafa told Sudan Tribune. ''They have repelled all recent attacks and forced the Rapid Support to retreat.''

Nigerian military airstrikes kill 35 terrorists near Cameroonian border
[ShabelleMedia] At least 35 suspected terrorists were killed Saturday morning during a series of airstrikes by Nigeria’s military at a town in the country’s northeastern state of Borno, which borders on Cameroon, the Nigerian Air Force said.

Ehimen Ejodame, the air force’s spokesman, said in a statement that the airstrikes were carried out following reports of an attempted attack on ground troops in Borno’s Kumshe town.

The military launched “successive strikes at four identified assembly areas,” Ejodame said, with ground troops later confirming that the situation had stabilized around their location.

Recent sustained operations aim to provide close air support to ground forces and disrupt terrorist logistics and movement corridors in the Nigeria-Cameroon border region, he added.

rebels on Monday gave an updated toll of 10 killed and more than 90 maimed in Israeli strikes on the capital Sanaa the day before.

The Houthis had earlier said six were killed and 86 maimed in Sunday's strikes, which they said targeted a petrol station and a power plant in the rebel-held capital.

The Houthis' health ministry front man, Anees Alasbahi, said on X Monday that there were "ten dead and 92 maimed in the Zionist aggression".

The Israeli military said it had hit a military compound where the presidential palace is located, along with two power stations and a fuel depot.

The police officer further added that the injured personnel shifted to the Doaba Hospital.

After the incident, the police bumped off one of the terrorists' controller in an encounter after he opened fire on the security personnel. Also, a police search operation is underway after attack on the FC fort, said the district police officer (DPO).

The development comes amid a surge in terrorist attacks across the country, particularly in KP and Balochistan

— both of which share a rather mostly non-existent border with neighbouring Afghanistan.

According to a report released by the Pakistain Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), an Islamabad-based think tank, the country witnessed 78 terrorist attacks during the month of June, which resulted in at least 100 deaths.

Among the fatalities were 53 security personnel, 39 civilians, six holy warriors, and two members of local peace committees.

A total of 189 people were maimed, including 126 members of the security forces and 63 civilians.

Major roads closed across Israel as hostage families, protesters take to the streets
[IsraelTimes] Major roads are blocked across Israel as protesters take to the streets to demand the release of the hostages and an end to the war in Gaza.

Route 2, also known as the Coastal Highway, is closed to traffic around Yakum Junction, north of Tel Aviv, after protesters light a fire in the middle of the road.

Sections of Route 1 and Route 443, both of which connect Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, are also closed to traffic.

Route 40 is closed to traffic around the Na’an Junction on the outskirts of Rehovot. Protesters there are joined by Yotam Cohen, the brother of hostage soldier Nimrod Cohen.

IDF strike on south Gaza hospital said to kill 20, including rescuers and journalists
Absolutely everyone is screaming bloody murder because a couple of journalists —who it is a very high probability are double dipping on the Hamas payroll or at least sympathizers and human shields — were killed in the crossfire. Even President Trump appeared to speak without thinking, not a single one pausing to recall that war is not a video game and even innocents on the battlefield put themselves at risk by being there. Fooey.

-run health ministry.

The Israel Defense Forces, some three hours after the reports of the attack emerged, confirmed that troops had carried out a strike in the area.

Footage showed rescue workers, who had arrived at the site of an initial attack, engulfed in smoke and debris when a second strike hit. Witnesses said journalists and other people had also rushed to the site of the first strike.

A Rooters live video feed from the hospital, which was operated by one of the journalists who was killed, shut down at the moment of the initial strike.

A military official told The Times of Israel that the attack was not conducted by the Israeli Air Force, indicating it was likely carried out by ground forces.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir ordered an immediate inquiry into the strike, the military said, without providing further details.

"The IDF regrets any harm to uninvolved [civilians] and in no way directs strikes at journalists," the IDF said, adding that it works to "minimize harm to them while safeguarding the security of our forces."

According to the Foreign Press Association, the strikes "hit the exterior staircase of the hospital where journalists frequently stationed themselves with their cameras. The strikes came with no warning."

"We demand an immediate explanation from the Israel Defense Forces and the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office. We call on Israel once and for all to halt its abhorrent practice of targeting journalists," the group said, leveling an accusation that Israel strenuously denies.

"This has gone on far too long. Too many journalists in Gaza have been killed by Israel without justification," the statement continued, noting that "Israel continues to block international journalists from independent access to Gaza.

"This must be a watershed moment. We appeal to international leaders: do everything you can to protect our colleagues. We cannot do it ourselves," the association concluded.

JOURNALISTS AFFILIATED WITH REUTERS, AP, AND AL JAZEERA KILLED
Cameraman Hussam al-Masri, a Rooters contractor, was killed in the first strike, according to Paleostinian officials. Photographer Hatem Khaled, who was also a Rooters contractor, was maimed in a second strike on the hospital, they said.

"We are devastated to learn of the death of Rooters contractor Hussam al-Masri and injuries to another of our contractors, Hatem Khaled, in Israeli strikes on the Nasser hospital in Gaza today," a Rooters spokesperson said in a statement.

Masri operated a Rooters live video feed from the hospital, which suddenly shut down at the moment of the initial strike, Rooters reported. The news agency said it had frequently broadcast a feed from Nasser Hospital during the Gaza conflict, and for the past several weeks had been delivering daily feeds from the position that was hit.

"We are urgently seeking more information and have asked authorities in Gaza and Israel to help us get urgent medical assistance for Hatem," the Rooters spokesperson said.

The News Agency that Dare Not be Named said it was "shocked and saddened" to learn of the death of Mariam Dagga, 33, a visual journalist who freelanced for the agency since the start of the war.

Health officials in Gaza named the other two journalists as Mohammed Salama, who Qatar

They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
-based Al Jazeera said worked for the broadcaster, and Moaz Abu Taha.

A rescue worker was also among those killed, the health officials added.

PALEOSTINIAN JOURNALISTS GROUP SAYS 240 KILLED SINCE WAR’S START
The Paleostinian Journalists Syndicate condemned Israel for the strikes, saying it represented "an open war against free media, with the aim of terrorizing journalists and preventing them from fulfilling their professional duty of exposing its crimes to the world."

According to the group, more than 240 Paleostinian journalists have been killed by Israeli fire in Gaza since the war started on October 7, 2023 with the Hamas terror group’s invasion, massacre, and hostage-taking in southern Israel.

Israel, which says it has no policy of targeting journalists, has asserted that some of the journalists killed throughout the war were in fact combatants. In some cases, the military has provided documentation seized from terror groups in Gaza that list the journalists as fighters.

Hospitals have been frequent sites of fighting in the Gaza war.
…because Hamas uses them to shelter command posts, entries to tunnels, and fighting strongpoints. As a result they no longer count as protected sites under the Geneva Conventions. Of course, Hamas is uninterested in such Unbeliever nonsense, so aisrael must respond correspondingly.
Top Hamas official Ismail Barhoum was killed in a strike at Nasser Hospital in March. In May, a prominent Palestinian journalist, accused of being a Hamas operative, was killed in a strike at the Khan Younis medical center.

Hamas has in the past held hostages at Nasser Hospital, according to the IDF. Shifa Hospital, in the north of the Strip, was also used by Hamas to hold some hostages and as a command-and-control center early in the war, and was the site of fierce battles between Hamas fighters and IDF troops.

COGAT PUBLISHES GRAPHIC FOOTAGE OF HAMAS HURTING GAZANS
Also Monday, the Defense Ministry’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) published graphic footage it said depicts Hamas gunmen “beating, abusing, and shooting at Gaza residents across the Strip.”

According to COGAT, the footage has circulated on social media in recent days. COGAT did not provide any further details on the videos.

“Hamas embodies the essence of evil. The shocking footage illustrates how the terrorist organization Hamas oppresses the population, abuses civilians, and uses unrestrained violence against people in order to maintain its bloody rule and consolidate its power,” said COGAT chief Maj. Gen. Ghassan Alian in a post on X.

“Hamas once again proves that it does not represent the residents of Gaza — it rules over them with force, fear, and cruelty,” he added.

‘Dangerous escalation’: Syria accuses IDF of incursion into border village
[IsraelTimes] Damascus says dozens of soldiers, including 10 military vehicles raided Beit Jinn; IDF does not immediately comment on alleged operation

Syria on Monday said it "strongly condemns" what it said was an Israeli military incursion into an area in the country’s south, calling it a "dangerous escalation."

According to Syria’s Foreign Ministry, dozens of soldiers and over 10 military vehicles were involved in a raid in the area of Beit Jinn, which sits near the border with the Golan Heights.

It also condemned Israel’s "control" of an area in the Mount Hermon foothills, saying it is a "blatant violation of the illusory sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic."

The IDF has been deployed to nine posts inside southern Syria since the fall of the Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
The Scourge of Hama...
regime in December 2024, mostly within a UN-patrolled buffer zone on the border between the countries.

Troops have been operating in areas up to around 15 kilometers (some nine miles) deep into Syria, including Beit Jinn, aiming to capture weapons that Israel says could pose a threat to the country if they fall into the hands of "hostile forces," as Iranian-backed groups did during Assad’s rule.

It distrusts Syria’s new government, which is led by former jihadists.

There was no information from the Israeli military on any specific military raids on Monday.

The statement came hours after Syria’s President Ahmed al-Sharaa confirmed to Arab journalists that his government was in "advanced" talks with Israel on a security agreement, seeking to clinch an Israeli retreat back to the 1974 disengagement lines that previously formed the de facto border between the countries, according to Sky News Arabic.

Israel and Syria have technically been at war since 1948. Israel conquered around two-thirds of the Golan Heights from Syria during the Six Day War of June 1967, and annexed the territory in 1981, in a move not recognized by much of the international community, with the exception of the United States.

A year after the Yom Kippur War of October 1973, Israel and Syria reached an agreement on the disengagement line that Damascus is now pushing to restore.

Tensions soared between Jerusalem and Damascus when Israel took over the UN-patrolled buffer zone in Syria shortly after the Assad regime’s overthrow in December and carried out Arclight airstrike

In July, the IDF conducted airstrikes on Syrian government forces to support Syrian Druze — who have close relations with Israel’s Druze community — during violent mostly peaceful festivities with regime-allied forces in the Sweida area of southern Syria.

SDF blames Damascus-affiliated ‘armed groups’ for attack in eastern Syria
[Rudaw] The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reported that five of their members were maimed in an attack purportedly carried out by "Damascus-affiliated gangs" in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province. The Kurdish-led forces held the Syrian interim government "directly responsible" for the assault and called for an immediate end to such actions.

In a statement released late Sunday, the SDF said that "gangs affiliated with the Damascus government launched an attack on a military post belonging to the al-Kasra Military Council in the town of al-Junaynah, in western Deir ez-Zor countryside, using BKC machine guns and a drone."

The SDF added that "five of our fighters were maimed in the festivities" as they "repelled the attack," and claimed to have inflicted "casualties among the attackers."

Describing the assault as "a desperate attempt to sow chaos and destabilize the region," the SDF asserted that "such treacherous attacks will not deter us from fulfilling our duty." The group further held the Syrian interim government "directly responsible for the actions of these groups" and called upon it to "immediately rein in its members and cease these aggressions."

Backed by the United States, the SDF functions as the de facto military force in the Kurdish-majority northeast Syria (Rojava). It remains a key partner of the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS).

The latest statement comes amid ongoing mutual accusations between the SDF and the Damascus government, with each side blaming the other for recent attacks on their respective positions.

In early August, the Kurdish-led internal security forces (Asayish), affiliated with the SDF, reported that two of their members were maimed when a "suicide drone" launched by the Syrian interim government struck a security checkpoint in northern Aleppo.

Responding to the accusations, Syria’s defense ministry denied to Rudaw that its forces had conducted "any attacks" in Aleppo neighborhoods. Instead, the ministry accused the Kurdish-led SDF of "launching several attacks" on Syrian army positions, including a purported infiltration attempt in the Tal Ma'az area east of Aleppo, which resulted in the death of a Syrian soldier.

On March 10, SDF chief Mazloum Abdi and Syria’s interim president Ahmed al-Sharaa signed a landmark agreement to integrate "all civil and military institutions" in Rojava under the administration of the Syrian state and to enforce a "ceasefire across all Syrian territory."

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
the two sides remain at odds over the interpretation of the term integration. While the SDF seeks to join the Syrian forces as a unified bloc, Damascus prefers to individually absorb and assimilate Kurdish fighters into the Syrian army.
