ISIS Claims Three Attacks Killing 47 Puntland Security Force Soldiers
[ShabelleMedia] The Islamic State (ISIS) Somalia faction has claimed responsibility for three attacks against the Puntland Security Force (PSF) between July 16 and August 22, resulting in the deaths of 47 soldiers, according to statements released by the group.

The attacks targeted military positions in Puntland in northeastern Somalia. It comes as Puntland stated that its forces have made significant gains against the militants.

The PSF, responsible for security in the Bari region, has been engaged in ongoing operations against extremist groups, including ISIS and Al-Shabaab.

Puntland officials have yet to independently confirm the death toll claimed by ISIS.

The region has faced increased militant activity amid efforts to secure strategic areas, including the Cal-Miskaad mountains, where operations against ISIS militants have intensified.

The attacks underscore the continuing security challenges in Puntland, despite its reputation as one of Somalia’s more stable regions.

Somalia executes two Al-Shabaab members convicted of deadly attacks
[ShabelleMedia] Somali military authorities on Monday executed two members of the al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
group who were convicted of carrying out deadly attacks, including assassinations in the central city of Galkayo.

The two men — Anas Abdulqadir Ali Mahmoud, also known as "Salmaan," and Aadan Mursal Mohammed Idow — were shot by firing squad after being sentenced to death by the Somali Military Court. The executions followed the completion of all levels of appeal, officials said.
"Aim low. Make it linger, and hurt"
The court found the pair guilty of orchestrating and executing multiple liquidations and ambush attacks targeting local elders and prominent community figures involved in peacebuilding efforts in the Mudug region.

Authorities said the convicts were members of an al-Shabaab unit specializing in bombings and hit-and-run operations in the central key region.

Investigations presented "clear evidence" of their direct involvement in attacks that caused "loss of life and property," according to the military court.

"The enforcement of this sentence is part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government and Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
administration to restore peace and uphold justice," the Somali Armed Forces Court said in a statement.

Military officials added that such executions send a "strong message" to Death Eater groups and anyone aiding terrorist activities in Somalia.

The military court noted that it has recently increased the enforcement of capital punishment against al-Shabaab operatives convicted of serious crimes, aiming to reinforce public confidence in the justice system and deter future attacks.

RSF killed at least 89 civilians in Sudan''s Darfur, U.N. says
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The U.N. human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
office on Friday said Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed at least 89 civilians in ''brutal attacks'' over a 10-day period in the besieged North Darfur city of El Fasher, with many victims apparently targeted for their ethnicity.

The spokesperson for the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, Jeremy Laurence, said the actual number of civilians killed in the city and the adjoining Abu Shouk camp was likely higher.

''This pattern of attacks on civilians and wilful killings, which are serious violations of international humanitarian law, deepens our concerns about ethnically motivated violence,'' Laurence said in a statement.

The U.N. documented that at least 32 non-combatants were killed between Aug. 16 and Aug. 20, following a previous attack on Aug. 11 that killed at least 57.

The agency said it was particularly horrified that 16 of the recent killings appeared to be summary executions. Most of those victims were from the African Zaghawa tribe, while another man was reportedly killed after telling his attackers he belonged to the African Berti tribe.

The U.N. also received reports that at least 40 internally displaced men were kidnapped on Aug. 16 and their whereabouts remain unknown.

The attacks have worsened a critical humanitarian situation in El Fasher, which has been under siege for more than a year, with a growing risk of famine in the region.

Laurence said aid delivery has also come under fire, citing an Aug. 20 incident where aerial strikes in Mellit, North Darfur hit a U.N. convoy of 16 trucks carrying food.

''Humanitarian assistance and workers are protected explicitly under international humanitarian law and must not be targeted,'' he said.

Sudan's RSF pushes into Abu Shouk camp as fierce fighting engulfs El Fasher - Sudan Tribune
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) pushed deeper into a vast displacement camp in El Fasher on Monday, three local sources said, as fierce fighting raged for control of the North Darfur capital amid conflicting claims of battlefield gains from both sides.

The advance was focused on the Abu Shouk camp, which is home to approximately 190,000 people. The sources told Sudan Tribune that the RSF now controls about half of the camp, having forcibly displaced residents, looted homes, and kidnapped around 30 people, including women and kiddies.

The escalating festivities in El Fasher, the historic capital of the Darfur region, are drawing closer to strategic army positions, including the city's airport and artillery headquarters.

An RSF field commander told Sudan Tribune his forces were advancing along three axes to capture the army's 6th Infantry Division headquarters in the city centre. He said that troops on a southern front were fighting near El Fasher International Airport, while another force was tasked with neutralizing the army's artillery command in the west.

The army's artillery has played a key role in repelling previous RSF assaults on the city.

However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
a front man for the joint force of gangs fighting alongside the army denied the RSF had made any significant progress.

''El Fasher is fine, and the army and the joint force are steadfast,'' front man Ahmed Hussein Mustafa told Sudan Tribune. ''They have repelled all recent attacks and forced the Rapid Support to retreat.''

Nigerian military airstrikes kill 35 terrorists near Cameroonian border
[ShabelleMedia] At least 35 suspected terrorists were killed Saturday morning during a series of airstrikes by Nigeria’s military at a town in the country’s northeastern state of Borno, which borders on Cameroon, the Nigerian Air Force said.

Ehimen Ejodame, the air force’s spokesman, said in a statement that the airstrikes were carried out following reports of an attempted attack on ground troops in Borno’s Kumshe town.

The military launched “successive strikes at four identified assembly areas,” Ejodame said, with ground troops later confirming that the situation had stabilized around their location.

Recent sustained operations aim to provide close air support to ground forces and disrupt terrorist logistics and movement corridors in the Nigeria-Cameroon border region, he added.

rebels on Monday gave an updated toll of 10 killed and more than 90 maimed in Israeli strikes on the capital Sanaa the day before.

The Houthis had earlier said six were killed and 86 maimed in Sunday's strikes, which they said targeted a petrol station and a power plant in the rebel-held capital.

The Houthis' health ministry front man, Anees Alasbahi, said on X Monday that there were "ten dead and 92 maimed in the Zionist aggression".

The Israeli military said it had hit a military compound where the presidential palace is located, along with two power stations and a fuel depot.

Melbourne police arrest ‘Ghostface’ synagogue vandal
[IsraelTimes] Police in Melbourne have arrested a 37-year-old man for six separate incidents of graffiti on a synagogue in South Yarra over the course of this year.

On several occasions, the man was seen on security cameras spraypainting “offensive phrases” on the Melbourne Hebrew Congregation while wearing a Ghostface mask from the movie Scream, reports say.

The Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit charged the man with six accounts of criminal damage and offensive graffiti, as well as five accounts of driving an unregistered motor vehicle and driving without a license, the Victoria Police say. Investigators seized several items allegedly related to the offenses in a search of his home Monday morning.

The man is accused of vandalizing the synagogue on March 11, June 21, June 22, July 22, July 30, and August 19, according to the police report. He has been bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on November 21.

Synagogues have been common targets of attacks as antisemitism skyrockets in Australia. Last week, Australian police said they had arrested a second suspect for an arson attack on Melbourne’s Adass Israel Synagogue in December.

[GEO.TV] At least three soldiers were martyred and 17 others were maimed on Monday after terrorist attacked a Federal Constabulary fort in Torawari area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Hangu.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Operations Asad Zubair said that said that the police along with the FC retaliated against the terror attack, forcing the Death Eaters to flee.

The police officer further added that the injured personnel shifted to the Doaba Hospital.

After the incident, the police bumped off one of the terrorists' controller in an encounter after he opened fire on the security personnel. Also, a police search operation is underway after attack on the FC fort, said the district police officer (DPO).

The development comes amid a surge in terrorist attacks across the country, particularly in KP and Balochistan

— both of which share a rather mostly non-existent border with neighbouring Afghanistan.

According to a report released by the Pakistain Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), an Islamabad-based think tank, the country witnessed 78 terrorist attacks during the month of June, which resulted in at least 100 deaths.

Among the fatalities were 53 security personnel, 39 civilians, six holy warriors, and two members of local peace committees.

A total of 189 people were maimed, including 126 members of the security forces and 63 civilians.

UN says 11 more Gazans die of malnutrition in last 24 hours, citing Hamas-run ministry figures
Betcha 100% of them had known, preexisting medical conditions that impacted their ability to absorb nutrients… or were kidnapped from Israel on 10/7.
[IsraelTimes] Eleven more people have died from malnutrition and starvation in the last 24 hours, bringing the total figure since the start of the Gaza war to 300, UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric says during a briefing, citing the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry.

Updating reporters on developments in Gaza, Dujarric says roughly 5,000 people have been displaced from northern Gaza to Deir al-Balah in the central Strip and Khan Younis in the South since August 20. He adds that some 8,000 others have been displaced to the west of Gaza City, bringing the total number of new displacements since the end of the ceasefire in mid-March to more than 800,000.

Dujarric claims that Israeli authorities continue to inhibit the delivery of humanitarian aid throughout Gaza, denying or impeding eight of 15 UN missions to transport assistance over the past 24 hours.

Moreover, UN partners have reported that several education facilities, which are also used as shelters, were attacked last week, Dujarric says
