Filming of a series about real FSB special forces operations has started in the Caucasus
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

An activity not likely to set too well with the local mullahs.

A 2018 film, "Decision: Liquidation" on Tubi also is about Russian FSB operatives in Transcaucusus.

[Regnum] The film company "Triix Media" began filming the action-packed series "SPETSY" in the Dzheyrakhsky District of Ingushetia, dedicated to the FSB special forces. This was reported on July 24 by REN TV, which ordered the film.

On the first day of filming, the scene of the militant leader's arrest was shot. The production team plans to actively involve local actors and residents of the republic in the work. Filming will take place in different regions of the Caucasus, as well as in Crimea and the Arctic.

The project is based on real events and will show in detail for the first time the operations of the FSB Special Purpose Center (SPC). The main characters are collective images of special forces soldiers who participated in the liquidation of the terrorist group "Imarat Kavkaz" (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation), which operated in the North Caucasus from 2007 to 2015.
The Caucasus Emirate was an Al Qaeda franchise led by Chechen warlord Dokka Umarov that derived from the post-Soviet Republic of Ichkeria and in 2015 changed allegiance to ISIS under the name Vilayat Kavkaz, whereupon a majority chose to escape the Spetsnaz hunting them by making hijra to the caliphate in Syria — those that survived the reconquest and the SDF prison camps are about to become the property of the HTS government of Syria, which will be educational, one way or another.
The series will also reveal details of special operations in Crimea and the Arctic.

"The series "SPETSY" is our first project for the REN TV channel. And we are very happy about this cooperation. The series is addressed primarily to a male audience, but will also be interesting to women," said Inessa Yurchenko, general producer of Triix Media.

She emphasized that the company has significant experience in creating rating projects about law enforcement agencies.

The central character of the series is a graduate of the Ryazan Higher Airborne School Igor Larionov, played by Denis Donskoy. He ends up in the TsSN group and takes part in dangerous operations. As the plot progresses, it becomes clear that the events that happen to him are links in a chain in the geopolitical confrontation between Russia and the West.
What has The West to do with Al Qaeda in Russia?

Greece to deploy salvage ship to Red Sea to protect against Houthi maritime attacks
[IsraelTimes] Greece will deploy a salvage vessel in the Red Sea to assist in maritime accidents and protect seafarers and global shipping, the shipping minister says, following attacks on two Greek vessels by Yemen’s Houthi rebels this month.

Two Liberia-flagged, Greek-operated cargo ships, Magic Seas and Eternity C, sank off Yemen after repeated attacks by the Iran-aligned militant group.

The strikes on the two vessels marked a resumption of attacks on shipping by the Houthis, who struck more than 100 ships between November 2023 and December 2024 in what they said was a show of solidarity with the Palestinians in the war in Gaza.

Shipping Minister Vassilis Kikilias says the salvage vessel — called Giant and provided by the Hellenic Association of Tugboat Owners — will “support, protect and assist Greek-owned vessels and Greek seafarers.”

All of the crew members from the Magic Seas were rescued by a passing ship.

The crew of the Eternity C had to abandon the ship. Ten were rescued by a privately led mission, but five more are feared dead and the Houthis are believed to be holding another 10 crew members, maritime security sources have said.

Aspides, the European Union naval mission protecting shipping in the Red Sea, did not have assets in the area at the time of the incidents.

Giant is manned by a specialist crew of 14 Greek sailors, has four engines with 16,000 horsepower, and can sail in the most adverse weather conditions, the Shipping Ministry says.

It can participate in search and rescue operations, with accommodation for 40 people, help prevent marine pollution and also has firefighting capacity.

Saudi Arabia announces $6.4 billion in Syria investments as war-torn country looks to rebuild
[IsraelTimes] Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Formerly dictatorial and steeped in Olde Tyme Religion, deferring to Salafist holy men on all issues, it has now done a 180 and is making a serious effort to modernize, so as not to be left in the sand by its Gulf Arab neighbors. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat rational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start...
announces $6.4 billion of investments in Syria, reflecting the kingdom’s deepening ties with interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s government as it seeks to rebuild Syria after a 14-year civil war.

The deals, unveiled by Saudi Investment Minister Khalid al-Falih at a Damascus forum, are a major financial boost for Sharaa as he struggles to establish control over Syria, which was rocked this month by sectarian violence in the southwest.

Al-Falih says his visit to Syria was ordered by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and de-facto ruler Mohammed bin Salman

...Crown Prince and modernizer of Saudi Arabia as of 2016. The Turks hate him, so he must be all right, despite the occasional brutal murder of Qatar-owned journalists...
, calling the trip "confirmation of the kingdom’s firm and supportive stance towards sisterly Syria."

The investment deals included $2.93 billion for real estate and infrastructure projects and about $1.07 billion for the telecommunications and information technology sector, al-Falih says.

He says 47 agreements will be signed over the course of the conference, with more than 100 companies participating.

Al-Falih also announces the establishment of a Saudi-Syrian Business Council at the event, which had been scheduled for June but was delayed due to the conflict between Iran

Britain
Boston Consulting Group says US-based staffers bypassed controls to help set up GHF
[IsraelTimes] An investigation commissioned by Boston Consulting Group has found that some of its US-based staff sidestepped its risk controls to do work related to the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation and to “post-war reconstruction” for the Palestinian enclave, the consulting firm says.
That sounds like it was a passion project. BCG is lucky they’re getting paid instead of working pro bono or negotiated a contract that just covered expenses before they spun them off to avoid the cultural backlash.
In a response to a British parliamentary committee inquiry published on Thursday, BCG details the role some of its staff played in establishing the GHF during late 2024 and early this year, and then the efforts made by one of its managing directors to carry out further work in March.

The operations of the US- and Israel-backed GHF have been beset by violence and chaos, including deadly shootings of scores of Palestinians near its food distribution sites guarded by Israeli forces, Reuters has reported.

The UN and other humanitarian groups have refused to work with GHF, questioning its neutrality and criticizing the new distribution model as dangerous.

“We deeply regret that, in connection with the work about which the committee has asked, we did not live up to our standards,” BCG said in its July 22-dated response to the parliamentary committee inquiry.

A “largely complete” review led by law firm WilmerHale had shown that “BCG’s approval processes were circumvented” by now-former BCG staff, the Boston-based management consulting firm said.

Former UK Labour chief Jeremy Corbyn launches new anti-Israel party
[IsraelTimes] Far-left MP, who was ousted from Labour over antisemitism, says Your Party will be committed to ‘mass redistribution of wealth and power’ and a ‘free and independent Palestine’

Former UK Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn announced Thursday he was forming a new political party that will push for a "mass redistribution of wealth and power" and a "free and independent Paleostine," opposing all British arms sales to Israel.

The North Islington MP announced the party alongside fellow independent MP Zarah Sultana, who was suspended by Labour last year after she and several other members of parliament voted to scrap a controversial cap on child benefits.

The two politicians said their new left-wing outfit will be called Your Party.

"We will only fix the crises in our society with a mass redistribution of wealth and power," they said, in a brief statement that called for raising taxes on the wealthy, nationalizing utilities, challenging fossil fuel companies and boosting public housing.

"Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth ordered the entire 614th quadrant searched. The Green Lensman must be found!...
millions of people are horrified by the government’s complicity in crimes against humanity. Now, more than ever, we must defend the right to protest against genocide," it continued, in an apparent oblique reference to the UK’s recent proscription of an anti-Israel activist group as a terror organization, following its attacks on British military sites.

"We believe in the radical idea that all human life has equal value. That is why we will keep demanding an end to all arms sales to Israel, and the only path to peace: a free and independent Paleostine," they said.

The announcement came as UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who has sought to pull Labour to the center since succeeding Corbyn as leader, faces growing calls within his party to recognize a Paleostinian state.

Both Corbyn and Sultana have been accused of antisemitism in their comments about the war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, ever since the Hamas
..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
terror group’s October 7, 2023, attack in Israel ignited the conflict.

The former Labour leader was slow to explicitly condemn the atrocities by Hamas, and initially refused to call the group — whose members once thanked him for his "support and solidarity with the Paleostinian people" — a "terror group," or to advocate its deposition as the de facto government of Gaza.

Since then, Corbyn has called for a total arms embargo on Israel as it battles Hamas and seeks to return its citizens taken captive during the 2023 invasion.

Prior to the current war, during his tenure as Labour leader, Jewish groups accused Corbyn of allowing a massive surge in antisemitism within the party’s ranks.

He drew criticism for his own past actions, including: initially endorsing a mural that appeared to show an antisemitic caricature; authoring a glowing foreword to a book that claims Jews control global financial systems; calling terror groups Hamas and Hezbollah "friends" when inviting members for a parliamentary meeting in 2009; and attending a ceremony that honored the forces of Evil behind the 1972 Munich Olympic massacre.

In 2020, a UK government investigation found in Labour under Corbyn "a culture within the party which, at best, did not do enough to prevent antisemitism and, at worst, could be seen to accept it."

The party ousted Corbyn after he responded to the report by saying that the problem of antisemitism had been "dramatically overstated for political reasons."

Sultana, for her part, said in since-deleted social media posts from 2015 that she would celebrate the deaths of former UK prime minister Tony Blair, former US president George W. Bush and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. She also wrote that she supported "violent mostly peaceful resistance" by Paleostinians and that Zionism is a racist ideology.

Josh Shapiro: Mamdani must check ‘blatantly antisemitic’ rhetoric among supporters
[IsraelTimes] One of the most prominent Jewish politicians in the United States said Zohran Mamdani, New York’s Democratic mayoral nominee, should curb “blatantly antisemitic” language among his supporters.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro is among the establishment Democrats who have hesitated to embrace Mamdani, a democratic socialist and vocal critic of Israel. Mamdani also has yet to win the endorsements of Jewish Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, though both congratulated him on his primary win.

In an interview with Jewish Insider, Shapiro said Mamdani’s campaign “left open far too much space for extremists to either use his words or for him to not condemn the words of extremists that said some blatantly antisemitic things.”
At least he is being more or less honest. Honestly hateful. And the voters will have a clear choice: Jew-hate and failed socialism, or something better. We’ll see what they choose; but whichever it is, New York City will deserve the outcome.

Columbia University to pay out more than $220M after violating Jewish students’ civil rights
The New York Post pulls back and looks at the bigger picture of this story from yesterday. Details of the settlement can be read at the link.
[NYPOST] The Trump administration has won unprecedented concessions from Columbia University in a sweeping settlement — with the Ivy League school paying more than $220 million and pledging to reverse racially discriminatory practices and resolve civil rights violations against Jewish students and workers, The Post can exclusively reveal.

The settlement, under which Columbia will agree to submit to independent monitoring to ensure it is complying with merit-based hiring and admissions requirements, is likely to put pressure on other schools — like Harvard University— that have crossed the White House over tolerance of extreme Jew-hatred on campus since the Oct. 7, 2023, attack by Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
against Israel.

The resolution comes after just four months of negotiations between Columbia and Trump, striking a stark contrast with Harvard, which decided to drag the administration into court for stripping the school of $2.6 billion in grants and other funding.

Government Corruption
For years, US-approved visas meant for abused children went to adults, criminals and gang members, DHS finds
[FoxNews] More than 500 MS-13 gang members and 200-plus sex offenders received legal status through special juvenile visa program
This sounds deliberate
An immigration program meant to provide permanent legal status to undocumented migrant children who experience abuse or neglect was, under the Biden administration, offered mostly to illegal immigrants older than age 18, many of whom had criminal records, according to a new Department of Homeland Security (DHS) report obtained by Fox News Digital.

A Trump administration review of the special immigrant juvenile petition program found that between fiscal year 2020 and fiscal year 2024, 198,414 special immigrant juvenile petitions were approved. And in fiscal year 2024, 52% of special immigrant juvenile petitioners were over the age of 18 through a loophole that allowed classification to be offered up to age 21.

Of those petitioners, 60% were male. Massachusetts, New York, Maryland and California are hot spots, states where courts routinely approve special immigrant juvenile predicate orders for legal adults, often based solely on affidavits.

Affidavits alone, often written by the petitioner or a petitioner's lawyer, are used to claim abandonment or neglect. Judges may sign off without hearings.

Misuse of the program didn't just occur under Biden. Since 2013, more than 600 MS-13 gang members applied for the special immigrant juvenile visa, according to the DHS report, and more than 500 of them were approved.

The report also identified 853 known or suspected gang members who filed special immigrant juvenile petitions, most of whom were approved.

At least 120 of those petitioning for special immigrant juvenile visas since 2013 have been arrested for murder, and more than 200 of those who had their visas approved were convicted of sex offenses and required to register on the National Sex Offender Registry.

Many petitioners filed when they were older than age 18 and qualified because they were raised with one natural parent and claimed the other parent was not involved in their life, "abandonment," or did not financially support them, "neglect," according to the report.

More than 100 known or suspected members of the 18th Street gang, a criminal group with origins in California and Mexico, had special immigrant juvenile petitions approved since 2013, and dozens of others suspected of involvement in the Tren de Aragua, Sureño and Norteño gangs had approved special immigrant juvenile visas, according to the report.

The Northern Triangle countries of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras accounted for approximately 73.6% of all filings within the special immigrant juvenile program from 2014 to 2024.

In 2024, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services received a petition from a 19-year-old suspected of plotting an Islamic State terror attack in the U.S. after he requested another adult be appointed his legal guardian.

But the new report found that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services decided against interviewing or requiring biometrics for those under the age of 18. Even for those 18 and older, only 36% were asked to submit biometrics.

Since fiscal year 2013, nearly 20,000 special immigrant juvenile petitioners submitted conflicting birth dates, with 18,407 appearing over the age of 21 based on prior records — the program age cutoff.

Fraud may be widespread in countries with weak documentation systems, like Bangladesh, Somalia and Yemen, where birth certificates are easily falsified, the report said.

"Criminal aliens are infiltrating the U.S. through a program meant to protect abused, neglected or abandoned alien children," said U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services spokesman Matthew J. Tragesser. "This report exposes how the open border lobby and activist judges are exploiting loopholes in the name of aiding helpless children."
In retrospect, that four year vacation allowed President Trump time, space, and strong motivation to reflect on what he saw during his first term — and what he’d missed — and figure out how to efficiently and effectively get the problems fixed. At this rate, we’ll enjoy the results for a generation before the impact what he’s set in motion thus far tails off.
In June, the Citizenship and Immigration Services office stopped offering deferred immigration enforcement for special immigrant juveniles. The office said it is looking at new ways to "ensure the SIJ classification remains available for the juveniles it was intended to protect."

Congress first established the program in 1990 to allow young unlawful immigrants that a court has determined cannot reunify with parents due to abuse or neglect to apply for special immigrant juvenile classification, lawful permanent resident status and have an eventual path to U.S. citizenship. But, by law, there are no criminal bars or good moral character requirements for special immigrant juvenile petition approval.

IHC halts implementation of order to form blasphemy commission
[GEO.TV] The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended the implementation of an earlier decision that directed the formation of a commission to investigate blasphemy
...the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence to a deity, or sacred objects, or toward something considered sacred or inviolable. Some religions consider it to be a crime. In Pakistain you can commit blasphemy by looking cross-eyed at a Koran...
-related allegations.

A division bench comprising Justice Khadim Hussain and Justice Azam Khan issued the order on Thursday, effectively putting on hold the judgment delivered by Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan last week.

The suspension follows an intra-court appeal filed by Advocate Rao Abdul Rahim against the decision to form the commission.

Previously, Justice Ejaz had accepted petitions seeking the formation of a commission to probe the handling and application of blasphemy laws.

He had instructed the federal government to set up the body within 30 days and mandated that it complete its work within four months.

If more time was required, the commission was permitted to request an extension from the court.

A report published by the government-run National Commission for Human Rights in October last year said there were 767 people, mostly young men, in jail awaiting trial over blasphemy allegations.

On the previous order, lawyer Imaan Mazari had said: "This is a huge ray of hope and it's the first time that the families have felt heard."

US won’t attend United Nations confab on two-state solution
[IsraelTimes] The United States will not attend an upcoming conference on a two-state solution, State Department deputy spokesperson Tommy Pigott tells reporters during a press briefing.

A conference regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state is scheduled to take place later in the month at the United Nations.

Pigott also says the US is working to get more aid into Gaza without it being looted by Hamas.

She accuses Hamas of the “weaponization” of aid.

“We have a system in place, attempting to get as much aid into Gaza as possible in a way where [it] is not being looted by Hamas… that is the reality that we’re pushing for — trying to get as much aid in there as possible.”

Leading Islamic authority in Gaza slams Hamas for using civilians as shields
[IsraelTimes] A former dean of Sharia and Law at the Islamic University of Gaza publishes a post online criticizing Hamas for sacrificing Gazan lives to fight Israel.

“You have no right to use the people of Gaza as a shield for your own interests — especially after God has shown you that the resistance is incapable of achieving the goals it declared,” writes Salman Al-Daya, an important religious authority in Gaza. “The convoys of martyrs, the wounded, the displaced, the hungry, and the sick who are facing death… What miracle are you waiting for?!”

Al-Daya has previously condemned Hamas during the war. In November 2024, he issued an Islamic legal opinion, or fatwa, denouncing the October 7 massacre, saying it violated Islamic principles.

NIS 918 million allocated to West Bank roads in ‘de facto sovereignty’ move
[IsraelTimes] The Knesset Finance Committee has approved nearly a billion shekels in additional funding for roads and transportation infrastructure in the West Bank in what Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich describes as a lesson in “how to do de facto sovereignty” over the contested territory.

In total, some NIS 918 million ($275 million) will be spent on upgrading existing roads, paving new roads, building bypass roads for motorists in the West Bank to avoid Palestinian towns, and for other road infrastructure upgrades.

“This is how you do facto sovereignty. This is how you bring in a million residents [to the West Bank]. This is how you take the idea of a Palestinian terrorist state off the table,” says Smotrich enthusiastically in announcing the new funding.

The ultranationalist minister said that the “massive investment” was part of a strategic plan for “strengthening settlement, physically and politically connecting the region to the State of Israel, and making sovereignty a fait accompli on the ground.”

Transportation Minister Miri Regev concurs with Smotrich, saying the new funds are the “direct continuation of clear policies: sovereignty in practice, through action,” and says that during her tenure as minister, “billions” have been invested in transportation infrastructure in the West Bank.

The term “applying sovereignty” is used by the Israeli right for the annexation of the West Bank. Smotrich has been openly advocating for and advancing policies for the de facto annexation of the West Bank over the last two and a half years, with a series of administrative measures bringing the territory under civilian, not military, governance, as has been the case since 1967, and massively expanding the settlement enterprise.

Amnesty International accuses Iran of firing cluster munitions at Israel
[IsraelTimes] Report says Tehran launched the munitions, which scatter bomblets over an expanded area, at central Israel and Beersheba, calls their use a war crime

Amnesty International said on Thursday that Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
fired cluster munitions at Israel during last month’s war between the two countries, in attacks that endangered civilians.

The report backs up an assessment by the Home Front Command, made during the war, that Iran fired at least one cluster bomb warhead at central Israel. Iran was suspected of firing a cluster bomb at Beersheba in southern Israel as well.

"Last month, the Iranian forces fired ballistic missiles whose warheads contained submunitions into populated residential areas of Israel," the human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
group said, citing new research. It said international law "prohibits the use of inherently indiscriminate weapons, and launching indiscriminate attacks that kill or injure civilians constitutes a war crime."

Cluster munitions explode in mid-air and scatter bomblets. Some of them do not explode on impact and can cause casualties over time, particularly among children.

"By using such weapons in or near populated residential areas, Iranian forces endangered civilian lives," said Erika Guevara Rosas, senior director at Amnesty International."Iranian forces’ deliberate use of such inherently indiscriminate weapons is a blatant violation of international humanitarian law."

Neither Iran nor Israel is among more than a hundred countries that are party to the 2008 Convention on Cluster Munitions, which prohibits the use, transfer, production and storage of cluster bombs. Israel used cluster munitions in its 2006 war against Hezbollah in Leb
...home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade....
and later said it would limit its deployment of them.

The 12-day Israel-Iran war began in mid-June when Israel struck Tehran’s top military leaders, nuclear scientists, uranium enrichment sites, and ballistic missile program, an attack it said was necessary to prevent the Islamic Theocratic Republic from realizing its avowed plan to destroy the Jewish state.

Iran has consistently denied seeking to acquire nuclear weapons. But it enriched uranium to levels that have no peaceful application, obstructed international inspectors from checking its nuclear facilities, and expanded its ballistic missile capabilities. Israel said it had recently taken steps toward weaponization.

Iran retaliated to Israel’s strikes by launching over 500 ballistic missiles and around 1,100 drones at Israel. The attacks killed 29 people and maimed over 3,000 in Israel, according to health officials and hospitals.

In all, there were 36 missile impacts and one dronezap in populated areas, causing damage to 2,305 homes in 240 buildings, along with two universities and a hospital, and leaving over 13,000 Israelis displaced. Iran said its corpse count in the war topped 1,000.

Amnesty said it analyzed photos and videos showing cluster munitions that, according to media reports, struck a home in Azor, near Tel Aviv, on June 19.

On top of that, the southern city of Beersheba on June 20 and the central city of Rishon LeZion on June 22 were also "struck with ordnance that left multiple impact craters consistent with the submunitions seen in Gush Dan," the Tel Aviv district, Amnesty said.

Amnesty has been harshly critical of Israel in the past. Thursday’s report came two days after the group called for a war crimes investigation into Israel’s deadly air attack on Tehran’s notorious Evin prison during the war. The strike, confirmed by Israel, killed 79 people, according to a provisional tally by Iranian authorities. The toll has not been verified.

Amnesty International called the Israeli attack "deliberate" and "a serious violation of international humanitarian law" that killed civilians. The Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s should be "criminally investigated as war crimes," it said.

IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin previously stated that "within the prison compound, intelligence activity was carried out against Israel, including counter-espionage," and that the strike was carried out "in a pinpoint manner, to avoid harm to those uninvolved."

Amnesty has also accused Israel of committing genocide in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. , a charge Israel adamantly denies. Amnesty Israel, the group’s local branch, rejected that report and was later reportedly suspended.

Hamas seeks release of more Palestinian prisoners, including some serving life sentences; Israel, US yank negotiators

Encouraged by the loud interference of Britain and the EU demanding Israel stop warring on those poor, suffering Gazans, Hamas has become increasingly demanding and more rigid. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. US envoy to the Mideast Steve Witkoff said the terror group’s most recent response was "selfish" and that Hamas "does not appear to be coordinated or acting in good faith." Jerusalem’s statements were more measured, with a senior Israeli official telling news hounds the negotiators’ return did not signal a crisis, and that efforts to reach a deal would continue from within Israel.

Proximity negotiations have been taking place in Doha since July 6, with the deal on the table envisioning the release of 10 living hostages and the bodies of 18 slain hostages from Gaza in exchange for a yet-to-be-agreed-upon number of Paleostinian security prisoners during a 60-day truce.

A senior Israeli official told Israeli news hounds Thursday that the return of Israel’s negotiating team did not indicate a crisis in talks, saying there was "no explosion, no collapse."

At the same time, the current situation is evidence of Hamas’s "rejectionist and unfortunate approach," according to the official.

The terror group’s answer, received by mediators at 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning, "does not allow progress without a shift in Hamas’s positions and without consulting on ways to do this both with the mediator and with ourselves," the official said.

There are still gaps between the sides on all the topics, the official said, but he asserted that "progress has been made" in the 18 days of talks in Doha.

"We reached the stage where we actually need to return, and we will return here as soon as the right way is found to reduce the gaps and reach the closing stage," he said.

According to the official, Hamas has not offered any compromise on the demilitarization of Gaza or the end of the war, and there are "difficulties" around the potential release of Paleostinian prisoners.

The sides did not discuss guarantees about ending the war, a key Hamas demand, or the technical arrangements around the implementation of a deal, the official said, but he added: "We can arrive at this quickly."

Israel is under the assumption that Hamas wants an agreement, the official said, adding that the team will continue to work "from the moment it lands and there is reception."

The official praised Egypt and Qatar, "who showed a proactive approach, activity, and very, very significant efforts throughout all these 18 days."

WITKOFF: HAMAS DOESN’T APPEAR TO BE ACTING IN GOOD FAITH
Witkoff’s statement announcing Washington’s recall of the American negotiators, on the other hand, said, "While the mediators have made a great effort, Hamas does not appear to be coordinated or acting in good faith.

"We will now consider alternative options to bring the hostages home and try to create a more stable environment for the people of Gaza," he said.

"It is a shame that Hamas has acted in this selfish way. We are resolute in seeking an end to this conflict and a permanent peace in Gaza."

Witkoff did not elaborate on what "alternative options" the US might consider, and it was unclear if the statement was an attempt to ratchet up pressure on the terror group to compromise.

Hamas said it was "surprised" by Witkoff’s comments, insisting in a statement of its own after midnight Thursday-Friday that it has engaged constructively in the negotiations and submitted a response that was well-received by other mediators.

"We are surprised by the negative statements made by US envoy Steve Witkoff regarding the movement’s position at a time when the mediators welcomed and expressed their satisfaction with [our] constructive and positive stance that opens the door to reaching a comprehensive agreement," Hamas said in its statement.

The group added that it remains committed to reaching a ceasefire agreement and is working to overcome remaining obstacles.

At a state ceremony Thursday night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed not to compromise on achieving Israel’s war aims.

"If Hamas understands our readiness to reach a deal as weakness, as an opportunity to dictate terms of surrender to us that will endanger Israel, it is greatly mistaken," the premier said, speaking to commemorate 85 years since the death of Revisionist Zionist leader Ze’ev Jabotinsky.

"We are determined to achieve all the aims of the war," he said. "We are determined to bring everyone back, and that is what we will do."

The vast majority of the 2,000 Paleostinians detained in Gaza since the war’s outbreak, who Hamas is also demanding be released as part of the swap, have not even been charged, the non-Israeli source said, accusing Israel of arbitrarily detaining Gazooks for use as barter in the negotiations.

As for the scope of the Gaza border belt that the IDF would remain in during a truce, the source described Hamas’s response issued last night as only roughly 200 meters less than what Israel has been demanding.

Israel earlier demanded a two-kilometer buffer zone, which Hamas countered with a one-kilometer buffer. Israel then lowered its demand to 1.2 kilometers; the source’s description on Thursday meant Hamas is continuing to hold firm on its 1-kilometer demand rather than compromise in turn.

The source said both Egyptian and Qatari mediators believe that the gaps can be bridged within days and hope Israel has not recalled its negotiating team to withdraw from the talks.

Some of the details:
Hamas seeking release of commandos who led October 7 attack in hostage swap — report
[IsraelTimes] In its response this week to the latest ceasefire proposal in Gaza, Hamas is for the first time demanding the release of Nukhba terrorists who participated in the October 7, 2023, massacre, in exchange for a temporary truce and release of hostages, according to an unsourced report by the Kan Public Broadcaster.

The terror group has not listed the individual prisoners it seeks to free, but for the first time since negotiations began it requests that members of its elite Nukhba force, the commando unit which spearheaded the October 7 attack, be released among other Palestinian prisoners, according to Kan.

A non-Israeli source involved in mediation efforts for a truce told The Times of Israel earlier today that Hamas’s proposal included trading 10 hostages for 200 security prisoners serving life-sentences, as well as 2,000 Gazans detained by Israel since October 7, without specifying if those prisoners include Nukhba terrorists.

According to the source, mediators believe that Hamas views the demand for 200 prisoners as an opening position and may be willing to compromise.

Israel has proposed a lower offer to release 125 life-term prisoners and 1,200 post-October 7 detainees, according to Channel 12 news.

'This is our land for three thousand years.' Israeli parliament approves new takeover
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Leonid Tsukanov

[REGNUM] At the end of the spring session, the Israeli Knesset adopted a resolution calling on the government to extend the country's sovereignty to the entire territory of Judea and Samaria (the West Bank, WBRI).

The initiative, supported by all parties in the government bloc, aims to “restore historical justice” and return the “originally Israeli” lands to their proper status.

Despite the declarative nature of the resolution and assurances from official Tel Aviv that it does not in any way affect the legal status of the West Bank, the outlines of the Israeli government’s immediate plans are quite discernible behind the initiative of conservative forces.

HISTORICAL CALL
A proposal to extend Israeli sovereignty to the entire “historical” territory of Judea and Samaria, ensuring Israel’s “total control” over the entire territory of the West Bank, was submitted to the Knesset by a group of conservative MKs: Limor Son-Armelech (“Jewish Power”), Dana Iluza (“Likud”), Simch Rothman (“Religious Zionism”) and Oded Forera (“Yisrael Our Home”).

The parliamentarians' position was subsequently supported by Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, who stated that the land claimed by Israel "has been Jewish by historical right for the past three millennia."

The initiative became a definite challenge to the established status quo.

In accordance with the Oslo Accords (1993), the West Bank is divided into three zones. Israel currently has full control over about 60% of the West Bank (Area C), and exercises indirect (protective) control over another 24% of the territory, but does not directly interfere in Palestinian affairs (Area B).

However, at least 17% of the ZBRI site remains under the undivided control of the Palestinian Authority (Area A), which does not suit the revanchists. The call for establishing full control over Judea and Samaria, according to the Knesset members, should "promote historical justice."

Moreover, the resolution also targets the Israeli population.

The joint initiative was a show of consensus between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's party and the rest of the conservative camp and was meant to underscore the unity of the coalition government.

Moreover, it was the ultra-Orthodox and conservative parties, which had recently threatened Netanyahu with a split in the ruling camp, that provided the initiative with the most ardent support: out of 120 members of the Knesset, just over 70 people voted for the “historic resolution” (including several independent parliamentarians).

The opposition bloc mostly abstained from the vote - MKs from the largest Yesh Atid and Blue and White parties considered the question of "extending full sovereignty" of Israel to the ZBRI "too populist" and difficult to achieve in the context of the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.

13 people spoke against – representatives of the United Arab List (RAAM) and the Democratic Camp. Some of them demonstratively left the meeting. However, their demarche was more symbolic in nature and did not affect the outcome of the vote.

CHANGE WITHOUT CHANGE
The resolution on the “indisputable right” to the West Bank was the first in the history of modern Israel to receive support from the Knesset. Before that, Israeli parliamentarians, although regularly calling for “decisive action” from the podium, were reluctant to publicly challenge the Oslo Accords (concluded with significant participation of American Democrats).

The most that expansionists have managed to achieve so far is to include on the agenda at the end of 2024 an item on non-recognition of a Palestinian state, which subsequently “evolved” into the current resolution.

However, Israel is not yet trying to push the issue too much, not without reason fearing an even greater cooling of relations with Arab partners and an upsurge of anti-Semitism in neighboring countries. And so they are calling on the world community not to take the Knesset resolution too seriously.

Thus, several hours after the Knesset adopted the resolution on the ZBRI, official comments on the topic were given by the Prime Minister’s Office, the Israeli General Staff, representatives of the command in the West Bank, as well as the press offices of all Israeli intelligence agencies.

The leitmotif of their statements in all cases was the same: Tel Aviv continues to work to ensure security in the West Bank in the same manner as before, and the legal status of the Palestinian territories does not change.

TACTICS OF CREATING "BUFFERS"
However, even taking into account the fact that the parliamentarians’ appeal to the government is still purely symbolic in nature (and official Tel Aviv constantly emphasizes this), the likelihood that it will be “heard” in the future is quite high.

Moreover, overall favorable conditions are developing for shifting the “center of gravity” of Israeli actions to the Jordan Valley.

First of all, the Israeli government's course is influenced by the position of the United States.

The Republicans returning to the White House in 2025 show little loyalty to the Palestinians, especially in light of the stalled negotiations on a deal between Hamas and Israel.

Donald Trump is unhappy with the “isolation and inertia” of the remaining Palestinian factions from the peace process and constantly threatens to not recognize Palestine if the settlement fails.

In addition, Tel Aviv well remembers the “deal of the century” proposed by Trump in 2020, which implied the transfer of part of the territories of zones “A” and “B” to the Israeli side in exchange for international recognition of the State of Palestine.

Although the deal failed and gave way to the Abraham Accords, aimed at normalizing relations between Israel and Arab countries, in the current circumstances the White House is quite capable of taking it out of the archives and trying to promote it again. This time from a position of strength.

In addition, the Israeli right retains certain hopes for a "creeping expansion" in the West Bank. In addition to the tactics of expanding Jewish settlements and turning them into outposts, which the "hawks" led by Itamar Ben-Gvir are counting on, creating a split with the help of local forces seems promising.

The public unrest in the Palestinian city of El-Khalil (Hebron), provoked in early July by calls from several local spiritual authorities for the construction of an “independent emirate” and peace with Israel, quite clearly demonstrated that Tel Aviv has someone to rely on in the event of large-scale expansion.

Moreover, the tactic of creating “buffers” has successfully proven itself in neighboring Syria, where the Jewish state, with the support of the Druze, was able to strengthen its presence in the disputed Golan Heights.
The deepening governance crisis in the Palestinian National Authority also plays into the hands of the Israelis.

Supporters of the current PNA leader Mahmoud Abbas are rapidly losing public support, and his potential successor, Fatah representative Rouhi Fattuh, lacks the necessary authority. His rise to power risks provoking unrest and a new split among the Palestinians.

Moreover, the increased pressure in Judea and Samaria can always be justified by issues of national security and the activation of Hamas.

The frequency of Israeli raids in the West Bank is growing, and law enforcement reports increasingly include reports of the arrest of “Hamas recruiters,” which gives Tel Aviv a long-term trump card: the opportunity to accuse Palestine of preparing to open a “second front” against Israel.

In this case, control over the disputed territories will be taken under the pretext of preventive self-defense.

However, for now, the Netanyahu government is in no hurry to act, preferring to observe the media effect of the initiative put forward by the Knesset.

Macron announced his readiness to recognize Palestine at the UN General Assembly session in September
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Recognize the fever dream of Soviet General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev and PLO leader Yasser Arafat.

The General Assembly is a powerless talk shop where national leaders and ambassadors pose and preen. A perfect setting for President Macron to do pointlessly exactly that.
[Regnum] France is ready to recognize Palestine at the upcoming session of the UN General Assembly (GA). This was announced on July 24 by French President Emmanuel Macron.

"I have decided that France will recognize the State of Palestine. I will solemnly announce this at the UN General Assembly in September of this year," he wrote on the social network X.

Macron added that the main task at the moment is to immediately end the war in the Gaza Strip and provide emergency medical care to the civilian population.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on April 11, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that peace in the Middle East would only be possible after the creation
of a Palestinian state. In February, Erdogan noted that Palestine, including Gaza, the West Bank of the Jordan River, and East Jerusalem, belonged to the Palestinians.

The press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov also noted that Moscow is in favor of the fact that the settlement of the situation in the Middle East should be based on Israel’s recognition of the State of Palestine.
The Times of Israel adds:
Macron’s announcement drew immediate anger from Israel, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying it "rewards terror" and poses an existential threat to Israel.

Netanyahu said in a statement that the decision "risks creating another Iranian proxy, just as Gazoo

became," which would be "a launch pad to annihilate Israel — not to live in peace beside it."

Several of his far-right coalition partners called for Israel to annex the West Bank in response to the move.

Some opponents of countries unilaterally recognizing a Paleostinian state maintain that the move is merely symbolic when done without cooperation with Israel, adding that that a Paleostinian state can only be the result of negotiations between both sides of the conflict. But supporters of the move say the current Israeli government is uninterested in such talks or in a two-state solution and that the framework can therefore only be advanced through diplomatic pressure.

At least 142 countries now recognize or plan to recognize Paleostinian statehood, according to an AFP tally. Several countries have announced plans to recognize statehood for the Paleostinians since the outbreak of the Gaza war, which was sparked by Hamas

called it a "reckless decision (that) only serves Hamas propaganda."

"It is a slap in the face to the victims of October 7th," he wrote on X.

In a diplomatic cable in June, the United States said it opposed any steps that would unilaterally recognize a Paleostinian state even saying it could go against US foreign policy interests and draw consequences.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Israel’s warnings to La Belle France have ranged from scaling back intelligence sharing to complicating Gay Paree’ regional initiatives — even hinting at possible annexation of parts of the West Bank.

It was rescheduled and downgraded to a ministerial event on July 28-29 with a second event taking place with heads of state and government on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in September.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israeli and Syrian ministers meet for 1st time since 2000, in US-facilitated dialogue
[IsraelTimes] Barrack says goal of Paris meeting was ‘de-escalation, and we accomplished precisely that’; Dermer said to represent Israel and al-Qaeda fighter-turned Syrian FM represents Sharaa

Israeli and Syrian officials met in Gay Paree on Thursday together with US special envoy Tom Barrack, the latter announced, in what appeared to be the first time such a sit-down between officials from Jerusalem and members of the new government in Damascus was publicly confirmed.

"I met this evening with the Syrians and Israelis in Gay Paree. Our goal was dialogue and de-escalation, and we accomplished precisely that. All parties reiterated their commitment to continuing these efforts," Barrack tweeted late Thursday. There was no immediate confirmation from either Syrian or Israeli officials.

While the two sides have held indirect talks in recent months aimed at warming tensions, and there have been reports of quiet in-person meetings between Syrian and Israeli officials, those were never confirmed by either side.

Barrack didn’t specify who participated in the Thursday sit-down, but the Axios news site reported that Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer represented the Israeli side and that Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani headed the Syrian side.

Saudi media reported on Tuesday that Israel and Syria resumed dialogue on security matters in the wake of deadly sectarian festivities that saw the Israeli strike in Damascus and Syria’s southern Sweida province last week.

ceasefire talks in Doha.

Prior to the strikes last week, Israel and Syria were in "advanced talks" for a deal to halt hostilities, with the Trump administration also pushing the two sides toward full normalization of diplomatic relations.

Israel intervened in Syria’s sectarian conflict earlier this month on behalf of the Druze, who are seen as a loyal minority within Israel and often serve in its military.

Israel accused Syria’s interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s forces of complicity in deadly attacks by Bedouin tribes against the minority group in the country’s southern Sweida governorate. The week of fighting appeared to end with a ceasefire negotiated by Washington and announced on Saturday.

Though his own fighters have roots in al-Qaeda, including Shaibani, Sharaa has promised to protect members of Syria’s many sectarian minorities. But that pledge has been challenged, first by mass killings of members of Assad’s Alawite sect in March, and now by the latest violence in the southwest.
